Edit title
 William Shakespeare (26
April 1564)-(23 April 1616)
 Shakespeare was an English
poet, playwright and actor,
widely regarded as both the
greatest writer in the English
language and the world’s
pre-eminent dramatist. His
extant works, including
collaborations, consist of
approximately 39 plays, 154
sonnets, two long narrative
poems.
Analysis of hamlet as tragic
characters
 usual tragic hero that
shakespeare liked to use in
his works.
“the tragedy of hamlet:
price ofdenmark”and it is
complemented by horatio
and fortinbras.
There are many different
thoughts on what hamlet’s
tragic flaw is; jealousy,
inaction, and insanity are all
accepted as possibilities.
Continue…
Jealously and inaction are very
plausible, but hamlet was not insane.
he love with his mother Gertrude and
cannot stand the thought of a man other
than his father in bed with her.
The fact that her and claudius
‘relationship is considered incestuous
makes the marriage even worse in his
eyes. relationship between the two of
them, and constantly thinks of their bed.
 in beginning , hamlet focuses on the
relationships
Continue…
Claudius must be punished for taking
advantage of Gertrude in a
vulnerable situation.
Analysis of othello as tragic
characters.
The tragic hero has a
noble stature and a high
position in his culture.
Othello is a general and
commander of the
venician armed forces.
The lack of self esteem
because he is a moor is a
problem for othello.
Continue…
The hero’s downfall is the result of a
“fatal flaw” in his character. it is the
result of free will, not of an accident
or mere fate
He kills his wife and then himself.
The tragic hero before he dies he
says, “one that lov’d not wisely but
too well”.
Othello is the husband of desdemona
whom he murders because he has
been misled by the villainous lago.
Continue …
He rejects his loving and generous self
that aspect of humanity which makes
society possible in favor of the dark
passions of his self-centered ego.
In the end, the forces of love and trust
regain their strength as othello finally
recognizes the goodness of
desdemona.
Othello is a “tragic hero” due to his
self-centered nature and his gullibility
he allows himself to be manipulated
