Writing an application letter
1. WRITING AN APPLICATION LETTER
CONTEXTUALIZED LESSON IN WORK IMMERSION
RICARDO M. GAMUROT, JR., MT I
2. Introduction:
An application letter is a communication tool that enables an individual
to connect with prospective employer expressing an intent to be part
of the roll of aspiring personnel that the company seeks to hire and
give the company significant information as to why the applicant
should be considered for the job.
The application letter is preparatory for shortlisting of qualified
applicants and an essential aspect of the selection process. Applicants
who passed the screening through the application letter advance to the
next stage.
3. The main purpose of the application letter is to express the applicant’s
willingness and interest to work in the company. Thus, its content must
clearly specify qualifications and competencies that matter to the
position applied for.
Therefore, an application letter is the applicant’s initial tool in
convincing the company that, among others, he/she is one of the best
options for the job.
4. However, an application letter must be properly written. As the cliché
holds, “we are what we write”. This means that, what we write already
speaks for who we are and how fit are we for the job.
This is a primordial requirement, hence, prospective applicant must
learn the art of writing an application letter using an appropriate
format.
5. SPRINGBOARD
Here is an example of an
application letter format. Each
