1. Module 1
Research: A Lifelong Learning Experience
Research is a process of inquiry that requires careful understanding of
specific methodologies and procedures and not proficiency in language. This is
a misconception among high school learners that discourage them from
engaging in research activities. Thus, the main goal of this module is to make
your experiences relevant to research writing so that you will find research
interesting and easy.
Today, research as an applied learning area, provides an academic and
professional advantages to learners especially if necessary research skills are
developed and mastered. However, most of our learners do not find research as
an overarching opportunity to establish their competencies for work and for life.
Hence, the module attempts to break the old-aged indifference of high school
learners towards research writing.
In this module, you will be exposed to how your previous research writing
activities in various disciplines could springboard an interesting venture in
research. All you have to do is express yourself and trust your capabilities. This
module will help you process the relevance of your experiences to simple
research writing course.
In general, at the end of the module, you are expected to share your
research Knowledge and experiences. In particular, you are most likely to
exhibit the following competencies:
1. define the meaning of research based on personal knowledge and
experiences.
2. express personal judgment on the presumption posted by a huge number
of senior high school learners that “research is not interesting and
difficult”.
3. write an anecdote of your unforgettable research experience.
