2. Gumball Math
•
On the website Smart Exchange I found a Smart
Board lesson that had to do with teaching math to
Kindergarden students, the lesson was called
Gumball Math.
3. Counting Gumballs
•
In the preview it showed that this was an interactive
math lesson that asked students to count the
different colored gum balls and to record their
answers on the Smart Board.
•
For this lesson first I would have the class together
count how many gum balls are the color red, and
record that answer on the smart board. Then, after
doing one or two colors together, I would call on
individuals to come up and count for themselves
and then record their answer.
4. Graphing the Gumballs
•
After we counted the number of gum balls per color
I would then as a class graph the color red on a bar
graph provided in the Smart Board lesson, and then
once again call on individuals to come up and
graph the information collected.
•
During both the counting and graphing, I would
have a worksheet that matches the Smart Board
screen being presented and have the students
record the information that we collected as a group
that was recorded on the Smart Board.
5. Addition
•
Also for this Smart Board lesson it gives addition problems
for students to complete using different colors of gum balls
•
•
EX: Amy bought 4 blue gum balls. Then Amy bought 3
yellow gum balls. How many gum balls does amy have all
together?
From here I would have the students complete the set of
problems once again having all students record their
answers and individuals coming up to record their answers
on the Smart Board, after all problems are completed I
would then have students graph their answers on another
bar graph.
6. Additional Addition
•
After we completed filling out the worksheets and using the
Smart Board to complete the Gumball Math, I would then try to
work on different addition skills by using a game I found while
researching called “Addition Machine” which gives students
different addition problems for them to answer on the smart
board, while recording the number the student got correct and
incorrect. You can choose easy, intermediate, or hard questions
to choose from.
•
I would allow each student to do 3 problems (start off with easy,
and then go from there) and then go through each student and
then find what our grade was like as a whole. This will allow me
to assess where the students are in addition.
2+2=4
5+3=8
2+4=6
5+5=10
7+6=13
2+3=5
