My name is Ly quoc Trung, I come from Vietnam, a country in the south east of asia. Now I am in the second year of doctoral course at Cellular Transplantation Biology Department. Let me start my presentation by my friends stories with the title “My second family in the land of the rising sun”.
These just are two of many stories on Vietnamese websites writen by Vietnamese students studying at Kanazawa University. They always feel that they live in a second family in Kanazawa because of vietnamese community as well as japanese people who treated them as their children.
When I was a child, I always wondered that why Japan, an Asia country, could improve significantly in all fields just in a short period after the war. To answer this question, I have found more and more information about Japan, including the education, economy as well as the culture and other aspects of Japan society.
It is clear that behide the power of economics, the education system is one of the top countries on the world. I have believed that Japan is the picture for other countries, especially, Asia countries, including Vietnam.
Due to these reasons, when I got scholarship from Mekong 1000 project, I have thought that it is Japan where I would study to gain the knowledge to dedicate my community. And I surprised to know that Kanazawa University get a broad relationship to more than 30 countries around the world.
Especially, Kanazawa University pay more attention to my country with nearly 30 institutions in close relationship.
More and more Vietnamese students chose Kanazawa University as the place to modify their knowledge with more than 50 students at current time. These are just some photos of the Japanese professors and Vietnamese students in Medical School. We learn all fields at Kanazawa University from Dermatology, Pediatrics to Cellular transplatation biology.
In this school, What can I do?
It is the first time I live in Japan and I am very lucky to have a change to meet many talented and hard working people. I got a lot of knowledge that I can dedicate to my country after finishing. I also have opportunity to attend and make presentation at many famous conferences.
Living far away from home, every international student feels lonely and homesick. However I have my second family in Japan. This is association of Vietnamese students in Kanazawa with more than 50 members and it is bigger and bigger during the time.
In this family, there are also some Japanese members. Through this presentation I want to say thank to them when one is called outosan by all of Vietnamese students and another said that he is a Vietnamese. I hope the relationship between Vietkindai and Japanese friends is forever.
Moreover, the culture of Japan also is the attractive thing. In Kanazawa, there are plenty of festivals in which we can exchange our culture with local residents and other international students.
In addition, Japan is very famous for delicious foods. This is another reason why I chose Japan because I am a fan of Japanese food !!!!!
I came from Vietnam which has only two seasons the rainy season and the dry season so I love the four seasons in Kanazawa. In spring, Kanazawa is a very romantic picture with cheery blossom, in summer we can relax on the beach, in autumn all leaf change their color that make Kanazawa become a very beautiful place for sightseeing and finally in winter the white snow is everywhere and it really fantastic because I have never seen snow before.
The disaster happened when I was reparing my luggages for Japan trip to fullfill my knowledge. Some asked me think twice. However, until now, I believed that I had a good decision.
Japan and especially Kanazawa always open their arms to welcome other international students. I am proud of being a member of Kanazawa University.
