Step 1: Create an email account<br />Choose a “user name” and password that you can easily remember and WRITE IT DOWN!<br />Go to www.google.com<br />Sign up!<br />Your email address will be:<br /> username@gmail.com<br />Learning to use this account is another class!<br />Most important thing to know: your new mail will be in your INBOX.<br />

Step 2: Find and use the library’s job search web page<br />Go to www.catawbacountync.gov/library<br />Click on “Finding Work: Your Library Can Help!”Each section addresses the different needs of an unemployed person: <br />Job search brochureSection headings are aligned with the job search process and list good websites to explore.<br />Dealing with unemploymentDirect link to Employment Security Commission website.<br />Getting ready for your job searchThe fact sheet is a great tool!We will explore more of this website later in the class.<br />

Step 3: Find the resources to create a professional resume<br />Read about resumes on the links at “Getting ready for your job search.”<br />To create one in Microsoft Word<br />Open Microsoft Word<br />Click on the round “Office Button” in the top, left-hand corner<br />Click on “New”<br />Scroll down the panel and click on “Resumes and CVs”<br />Click on “Basic Resumes”<br />Choose a type and click on it.<br />Click on the “Download Button”<br />Click on the text boxes in each section and enter your information.<br />Choose “Save as” to save your resume.<br />
