We have described Las meninas for our little museum.

1. LAS MENINAS
● "The Meninas" is a
very important
painting.Its first title
was "The family of
Felipe IV" and it is an
oil lienzo realised in
1656 by the Spanish
baroque painter
Diego Velázquez.

2. IN THE MIDDLE
● In the middle of the
picture, there is a girl
of some five years old
who is identifid as the
child Margarita.

3. IN THE MIDDLE
● To the right and to the
left there are two
bridesmaids. The
menina on the left is
Agustina Sarmiento.
She is offering water
to a child. To the right
there is a second
menina who is Isabel
de Velasco.

4. TO THE RIGHT
● In front of them, to the
right two characters
appear, María
Bárbola and Nicolás
Pertusato. The boy is
placing his leg on the
dog.

5. TO THE LEFT
● To the LEFT, behind
Isabel de Sarmiento,
we find the painter,
Diego Velázquez.

6. AT THE BACKGROUNG
● At the background
between shadows
there are two
characters speaking.
One of them is
Marcela Ulloa.

7. AT THE BACK
● At the back of the picture, we can see
José Nieto standing up in the stairs.
● On the wall at the bottom there is a
mirror. It is the reflection of two
characters (Felipe IV y la reina Mariana
de Austria).

8. OPINION
● This picture seems us very interesting.
● We can comment a lot of things on this
painting.
