2. DIEGO VELÁZQUEZ Velázquez was a Spanish artist. He was born in Seville in 1599. He lived in Seville, Italy and Madrid. He died there. Velázquez was an artist of the contemporary Baroque period. His most important pictures are:”LAS MENINAS” or “LA FAMILIA DE FELIPE IV”, “LA RENDICIÓN DE BREDA”, “LAS HILANDERAS”,”LOS BORRACHOS” or ”EL TRIUNFO DE BACO” and “LA VIEJA FRIENDO HUEVOS”.
3. LAS MENINAS This is a painting byDiego Velázquez. It’s about 4 centuries old (1656).In this painting there is a princess, Margarita de Austria, with her entourage of maids of honour, chaperone, two dwarfs, a dog, a priest and a nun. The painting is a big room in the King’s palace in Madrid. There isn’t a signature on the painting. You can see the painting in the museum “EL PRADO”, in Madrid.
