I have served the past 26 years in the US Navy as an enlisted sailor and naval officer. I have been on
eight deployments on aircraft carriers and have been to many countries. When the ship pulls for a
port call visit, ship 's crew will be offered liberty, usually four days. Two weeks before the ship
pulling in port, the ship 's television network starts playing culture briefs that are mandatory of all
hands to view. The culture briefs are designed to give the ships crew a basic understanding of the
visiting nations customs.
As part of this module, I took three quizzes: Cross Cultural Quiz 2, Gestures, and Gift Giving from
the Kwintessential company website. The results of these quizzes put me in the 50 percentile. My
career in the navy has offered me access to various cultures throughout the world and I have been

My phone lit up with a text that read "Hey you should come to practice today!" I knew it was from
my well–meaning best friend, but I could not summon the motivation to get out of bed on a late
August morning in order to go run. At cross country practice. I dragged my feet for a few days but
after many more encouraging morning texts, I finally got out of bed, laced up my shoes, and asked
my mom to drive me to the green belt. I was joining cross country. Having never run a full mile in

of three different skills to make successful runners: hills, arm swing, and foot strike.
Considerably, most cross–country courses consist of a variety of hill structures, whereas some hills
will be steeper or longer in comparison to others. Coaches instruct runners to lean into the hill,
swing their arms, and use the forefront of their feet as support for running up them. They also make
sure their runners open their strides going uphill to increase acceleration and limit time on the hills.
Additionally, my strengths in this skill relate to my open strides on hills, using my forefront of my

Cross–Cultural Solutions, Brazil Cross–Cultural Solutions (CCS) is a non–profit international
volunteer organization that operates short– and long–term programs around the world. The
organization provides opportunities for individuals to encounter global ideas and issues and to
engage in efficient solutions through community work and cultural immersion. Throughout the
month of July, I volunteered with CCS in Salvador, Brazil, a capital city rich in its history, its
European roots, its African cultural influences, and its Brazilian vivacity. I lived with a host family
for the month and participated in two volunteer placements: one at CAASAH, a support home for
carriers of HIV/AIDS, and another at Alagados, a school support program serving the children of an

During the fall of senior year, I joined the cross country team to help prepare and condition me for
the track season, in the spring. Skeptical at first, I knew that I didn't have any endurance since I only
sprint over hurdles during the track season, but little did I know that the weeks were passing and the
end of the cross country season arrived. Though I was one of the inexperienced long distance
runners, I knew that I ran the fastest I could because when I crossed the finish line I had an

information in cookies managed by a browser; when a web application finds this data in the

Cross cultural communication theory (CCT) implies the idea of the communication of people who
differ from one another. These differences can include the age, race, financial status, ethnicity, and
gender of an individual ("Cross Cultural Communication"). The theory looks at how a culmination
of individuals with conflicting traits interact together and how their culture impacts said interaction.
Body language, gestures and language are all used to find a common ground between two or more

Richard D. Lewis is a British novelist and creator of the self named "Lewis Model". Lewis visited
135 countries and concluded "that humans can be divided into three clear categories, based not on
nationality or religion but on behavior ("Cross Cultural Communication"). He proceeded to create
"The Lewis Model" in the 1990s with the intent to "define and simplify inter–cultural analysis, with
the aim to improve interaction between different cultures," ("The Lewis Model"). In this model, the
three categories in which he differentiated humans were linear–active, multi–active and reactive.
The linear–active group is comprised of regions where English is spoken. Some of the qualities
which define this group include rarely interrupting, being job oriented and maintaining a limited

particularly enjoyed Alex. He is a genuine man who battles with the conflict between work and
family. How he sympathises with victims' families is a true reflection of his character and style.
I found the bad guys of the book to be well thought out. It was a real challenge to comprehend their
motives or their behavioural manner; this is one of the characteristics that made them seem real.
My only complaint is, even though I praise the plot very highly, at times it is too difficult to
understand what is going on, and this forced me to put the book down to clear my head. I am not an
avid reader, so this annoyed me a little. The fact that I could not continue with the book because too
many things were happening at once was frustrating and made me want to stop reading. But with
reading on the sub–plots in the book gelled together and I was able to understand what was going

Reflection Paper On Cross Country
Last year my cross country season was going great I was redshirted and was put into uniform. I was
at the peak of my athletic ability and school was going pretty good. Coming into this cross country
season I could feel that I was not fit as last year which created a lot of concern for myself. I did
everything that the coach told me to do and yet my body didn't feel good at all. We got together at
our cross country camp which is the start of our cross country season and our first workout I
struggled to stay with the people I could so easily run with last year. My body felt bigger, my plantar
was hurting, and I could tell that my confidence wasn't the same. The first race was pretty good, but
the next races kept getting progressively worst. We traveled as a team to Lewis University to race a
6k and after the race, we were going to change out of spike real fast to run a longer cooldown that
would count for our long run. During the race, I hit the 4K mark I could feel that something wasn't
right. My hands became numb, my stomach began to hurt, I became light–headed, and my body felt
heavy. I finish and fell to the ground in exhaustion, but right away my teammates pulled me up to
get ready for the long cooldown. I didn't feel good at all, but I would have looked weak if I told my
coaches my stomach hurts and I have a headache. They would have just told me to go run. At one

fear, and more importantly fear of the unknown. Often fear leads to mistrust, which can finish a
negotiation before it has even begun. IN today's increasingly globalised world, being culturally
prepared and culturally aware allows negations to at least commence smoothly and efficiently.
Globalisation has brought everyone on earth closer together, we can be chatting to someone in
Argentine, and emailing someone in Shanghai. Organisations have tapped into the global work force
and cross–cultural negotiation is by–product of this. How ever when negotiating across culture,
negotiators must always remember that the cross cultural differences are not the issue up for debate,
and through many social cues we can see how different cultures and behaviours different to our own
can insight fear, and fear of the unknown, nearly hijacking the negotiations. This is evident through
many things, whether it is almost superficial concepts, such as language, gestures and eye contact. It
is also evident through more profound explanations such as time orientation. Despite the
overwhelming amount of literature asserting the major differences in cross–cultural negotiation,
there are many experts in the field who disagree. We contrast the pre–discussed notions and can see
that cross–cultural differences are also a smokescreen for many negotiators to hide behind for many

Cross Country Meetings
Throughout my high school career, I have been a varsity member on the cross country team. At
practice and outside of practice, I have the opportunity to run several trails and gravel roads in my
community. This is due to the fact that you cover quite a few miles throughout the cross country
season. Cross country meets take place at several different golf courses, and the views are gorgeous.
Even as you run, it's easy to forget your performance nerves and be calmed by the green foliage and
