2. • I began with opening
photo shop and created
a new project.
3. • I then began creating text
boxes for cover lines and
began to place them
around my page in order.
I then imported an image
of a bar code as well as
creating a graphic feature
using the shape tool and
reordered my layers so
that the word ‘plus’ was
visible.
4. • I then changed the font
of my mast head
accordingly to my
design. I started to
experiment with
different font sizes and
colours etc.
5. • I then began to add to
my graphic feature,
rather than bullet extra
bands I looked at other
rock magazines and
found they used shapes
so I decided a cross
shape would be
appropriate. I then
created black boxes to
which the
6. • Here I created my main
headline. After looking
at other magazines I
realised the majority
had the website on the
front cover and so I
decided to have this
and placed the website
above the Masthead.
7. • I imported my image to
photoshop and began
to edit it, removing the
background and
shadow. As well as this I
used my photoshop
skills to remove marks
and red eye.
8. • Next I imported my
edited image onto my
front cover and
rearranged the
positioning to suit the
layout.
9. • After feedback and
comparing my product to
other magazines I found
my layout was too
spacious and so resolved
this by rearranging my
graphic feature to the
bottom of the page. I
then enlarged the
headline and added a
outer/inner shadow
effect.
10. • Finally, I had a last
rearrangement of the
layout, positioning cover
lines either side of the
page so that they didn’t
cover my main image. I
created black boxes for all
my cover lines to draw
attention towards them
and also to appeal
towards my target
audience.
11. • However after feedback and
comparing my product to
other rock genre magazines,
I felt I had to change my
main image. I retook the
picture and chose this Mise
en scene as the dark colours
in his outfit represented
rock as well as this, the
stereotypical pose
communicates rock fan and
the headphones around his
neck suggest music.
12. • As well as this I added a
graphic feature fore
advertisement. I chose the
colour yellow as it stood out
from the background. I added
a stroke to make it stand out
and stretched the text. From
feedback I removed the
website and used it for my
Contents page. Because of this
there was a gap, so I enlarged
my Masthead so that it
stretched to the top of the
page. I then edited the size of
the black text boxes creating
boxes for individual text.
13. • This is my final product.
To draw further attention
to my Masthead I added a
red stroke effect, I also
added a stroke effect to
all the coverlines so that
they were clearer to see
against my main image. I
also imported an image of
Refrain underneath their
coverline. I had a final
rearrangement of my
layout, adjusting text etc.
