2. Ideas...
From my research I have decided that I am going
to go down the trendie/clubbing genre, which is
a very mainstream market. I will, like NME,
include lots of artists/bands that a wide range of
people enjoy. I shall make sure I include areas
that link to other factors that my audience will
enjoy like fashion and gossip. As it is a
mainstream market I will have to make sure that
I make it a varied magazine with elements that
everybody will love.
3. So who exactly is the audience?
As I’ve said, it will be a
mainstream magazine
meaning that it will include
‘popular’ music; chart
music, new up and coming
bands. However it will
include sub-genres as
well, for instance: indie
rock, alternative, rap, rock
etc...
4. Quite open minded They will want to be aware
about new of all the latest events that
things, whether that be they can go to, it may be a
TV festival, concert or an
programmes, clothes, award show. They will also
artists or anything be big on social networking
really. If it’s popular – Life sites like Facebook and
they will like it. Twitter so you can promote
Style events through both those
and the magazine.
Looking good is very
important to them –
Celebrity gossip will be
they need to know
another thing that the
about all of the latest
audience will be interested
and hottest trends
in so I should include that
otherwise they will feel
too.
very outdated.
6. The Music...
Typical ‘club music’ anything that people can sing
along to and have a dance with all their friends.
Also it’s very varied it could be ANYTHING from
Rihanna to The Foo’s if they are hot in the charts
at the time and popular on the streets then it will
suit my target audience.
The music is generally, with exceptions, up
beat, happy and fun for everybody that is
listening.

Magazine

8. The Meaning of the Music
The music might not mean that much to
them compared to other genres but it will
connote things like fun and partying etc…
The music will also relate to their
personality of being quite
mainstream, itself, and then also it will show
how they are open to new things, because as
I’ve already mentioned they happily readapt
their tastes to what is new on the scene.
