Argumentative Analysis On Long Island
BEC SPK: a moniker widely recognized by all native Long Islanders as the iconic sandwich, bacon,
egg and cheese, salt, pepper, ketchup. Add well–done hash browns if you are looking to indulge, and
order sautéed spinach too if you are on a health kick. The underlying commonality for all Long
Islanders is our lust for LI town delis, each with their own local neighborhood charm. As much as
we are loyal to our consistent breakfast order, our egg sandwiches are loyal to us too. They are
symbolic of a simple meal to continue the weekend ritual and to start your Sunday off in the right
direction, recuperating from last night, while paving the way for a productive day ahead. On Long
Island, we hold our food orders to exceptionally high standards and take pride in the finished
product that cannot be replicated elsewhere. I amble below the emerald green signage into Seaqua
Deli, a hidden gem of LI and the heart of St. James. In line, stands 19 customers ahead, and I
successfully squeeze my flip flops in just enough space to fit three centimeters in front of the door

Personal Narrative: The North Side Of Long Beach
The United States has always been "home" to me because I feel that I am a bit of the quintessential
American story. I was born to immigrants hoping for a better opportunity than what was offered
from their third world home country. I was raised and went to school here, which blended many of
my parent's home culture and the new American culture. As I have matured, I have noticed how
much my life has been influenced by society's opportunities and issues. The American character is
the crossroads of opportunity, struggle, and hopefulness because the it is not only a reflection of the
founding father's ideas, but also a reflection of minorities who have interjected their experiences that
shaped my American journey. For much of my childhood, I ... Show more content on

In the 60s, Belize was still considered by many global standards, a third world country. Because of
the very small chance of being a success in Belize, many strive to come to the states for improving
their quality of life. Migrating to the United States was on many Belizeans priority because it meant
they could have more access to popular items usually seem from visiting relatives or heard about on
radios. Belizeans believe in American exceptionalism because America's standard for being the best
gave rise to excitement to attain the previously unattainable instigated their hope to struggle and
benefit for hardworking individuals. My parents left Belize to start a life filled with greater
possibility. Their journey to America was preceded by a few my grandmother's family migrating
first in the late 1960s, which led to the opportunity for my mother in the early 1980s. After she was

opportunity for their own work ethic. While growing up my father was employed by unionized

Wallace And Long Speech Analysis
Demagoguery is polarizing propaganda that motivates members of an ingroup to hate and scapegoat
some outgroups. In the two speeches "Inaugural Address" by Governor George Wallace, and "Share
Our Wealth" by Senator Huey Long, both use similar demagoguery strategies. The Governor of
Alabama George Wallace gave speech while entering office, argued that Alabama deserves the
"freedom" to stay segregated. As then Senator of Louisiana Huey Long gave his speech with a
insight to get Americans out of the Great Depression his main argument was to share wealth
throughout society to bring a fair well balanced society, that is a fair chance to life, liberty, and
happiness. Claims that Wallace makes are, segregation should be kept forever, Alabama is an
honorable state, and desegregation can be dangerous also a few claims that Long's makes are; to
care for the veterans of our wars, to limit poverty, and lastly to limit fortunes to a few million
dollars.Wallace and Long share the same strategy of demagoguery as they both are seen though
Nationalism meaning love for one's nation. Wallace and Long also use fallacies as Wallace uses
False Analogy while Long uses a different strategy which is Straw Man. Wallace and Long's claims
both represent demagoguery as they both have political leaders and seek to gain power by both
using Nationalism. The effect the claims might have on the audience toward Long's claim is the state
will appreciate and continue to support long opposed to wealthy people might feel irritated as they
losing money, and the effect on Wallace's claims on the audience are mostly negative as because
wallace wants Alabama to stay segregated. Wallace was the governor of Alabama, he was pro–
segregation and a conservative democrat, opposed to Long he was also a governor but for Louisiana,
he wanted the wealth to share a percentage of their money to spread wealth throughout society.
Wallace main focus of his speech was based on segregation, and politics; Long was writing about
sharing wealth along individuals, and a chance to life, liberty and happiness. When Wallace and
Long speeches were presented for Wallace was in 1963; during school riots, civil rights movement,
post WWII, etc Wallace speech was given in Alabama

Essay Prejudice Towards Men With Long Hair
What is prejudice? Prejudice is defined as an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or
without knowledge, thought, or reason. There are various types of prejudice. For example, the most
common ones are race, financial situation, such as lower, middle, and upper classes, and ethnicity.
Another type of prejudice is when someone is judged strictly by the way they look. One firm
example would be men having long hair. To many people, this type seems eccentric; however, it is
more typical than presumed.
I have witnessed this type of prejudice firsthand. My boyfriend has longer hair than I and for this
reason, he has been discriminated against many times. For instance, many people assume he uses
drugs because he has long hair. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just the other day someone told him they had a pair of sheep shears they would love to try out on
him. My uncle also volunteers to cut his hair everytime he sees him. He too believes he looks like a
girl.
The criticism is not always intentional, however. He has also been called a girl various times by
accident. For instance, while we were eating at a restaurant one time the waitress asked what "us
ladies would like to drink." Another time as similar incident occurred was at the mall. While we
were browsing through items, the manager approached us and asked if "we ladies needed any
assistance."
The reasons people pre judge, as well as discriminate, are bountiful. One in particular is fear. People
fear what they do not understand. Some people are not sure why a man would want long hair and, as
a result, they make false judgments, such as assuming they use illegal drugs. Societal differences
also may cause prejudice and discrimination. The older generation tends to see long haired men as
an example of a hippie. During the 1960's, hippies were known to engage in risky drug behaviors,
such as using marijuana, LSD, and even cocaine. Therefore, today some elderly people
automatically assume that a long haired man is into drugs. Another reason for discrimination is
ignorance. Unfortunately, many people do not take time to try to understand other cultures or ways
of life. Thus leading to irrelevant judgments about people they probably know very

Mistry's Such a Long Journey: the Struggle Within Essay
Common motifs depicted in the characters throughout Rohinton Mistry's "Such a long journey"
include the contrast of many opposing forces. Good and bad, bitterness and forgiveness, saving and
destruction, heaven and hell as just a few of the conflicting themes. Many secondary characters in
the novel are important in the life of Gustad, and encourage these themes. In The Road to Salvation:
Mythological and Theological Intertextuality in Rohinton Mistry's Such a Long Journey, Michel W.
Pharand states:
"Since good and evil seem to be inextricably bound, it is not surprising that many of the characters
in Such a Long Journey end up doing evil in trying to do good, or conversely, that some of the good

Long Term Memory Paper
Long–term memory (LTM) is defined as information retained over time and is retrievable via
various stimuli, such as through the five senses. LTM works in conjunction with working memory to
receive and process information for storage (Sousa, 2011). With this knowledge, educators are able
to tailor their instructional strategies for optimal results for students. Learners must be provided with
various tools to help them organize and process the information being delivered in the classroom
(Özel, 2009) Within the elementary school setting are two subsets of learners: the primary level
consisting of kindergarten through second grade and the intermediate level comprised of third
through fifth grade. Cognitive and emotional instructive strategies ... Show more content on

A second–grade teacher could utilize these strategies while teaching the standard LAFS.2.W.1.3,
which is a difficult skill for second–graders to master ("LAFS.2.W.1.3," n.d.). The skill has multiple
components that will require repetition of instruction in conjunction with demonstrating writing the
paragraph using a flow map (Paas & Ayres, 2014). By having students focus on the flow chart, the
instructor is also minimizing distractions of the physical environment allowing students to be
engaged in the lesson (Unsworth, 2016). The teacher will label the five boxes on the flow map to
show what sentence goes in each box ie; topic sentence, first, next, last, and conclusion sentence. By
creating this organizational map, students are able to break apart their assignment into more
manageable tasks. Each time students are required to write a narrative using temporal words to
sequence, the process is repeated using the format. Different goal outcomes require different
organizational strategies. During a math lesson, the teacher would have students take out a math
journal and demonstrate color–coding the steps to

Good Hairtyles For Long Hair
Good hairstyles for long hair include the blunt cut, with or without bangs, layered styles, braids,
ponytails, buns, and full and partial updos. Each style typically begins with one of two basic cuts, all
one length cut and the layered cut.
The blunt cut without bangs is typically parted in the middle. This is a good style for those with
straight hair who want and easy–to–care for style that makes their hair to look thicker. Add bangs to
hide a wide or high forehead. The ends of blunt cuts can vary from a straight trim to a circular u–cut.
The layered haircut is good for those with straight hair and wavy hair. Hair can be layered at the

Huey P. Long 's Speech
Huey P. Long's speech was judged based on his practices as a Louisiana senator and governor,
however it had the potential to be so much more had he lived to continue his legacy. People
appeared to be afraid of how Governor Long operated within the legislative system of Louisiana
because of the fact that, he tended to find his way around legal statutes that hindered his agenda.
Some could argue that he stepped out of the bounds of power that reigns in a representative of a
democratic nation, however he wound up being one of the most effective public servants in the
country. Amidst the Great Depression, Governor Long gave Louisiana 's economy a huge lift with
the vast construction of bridges, schools, and roads. In fact the state of Louisiana has not had
anything close to such an economic boost as to what Huey p. Long offered since that time. As time
has passed, Louisiana has become infamous for its lack of proper public education, especially
regarding grades one through twelve. This lack of proper education has become constantly
associated with the state since Huey Long's assassination. Despite the controversy over how Long
executed his political agenda, it cannot be refuted on how productive and beneficial his reign was
for the state.
For instance, in Huey P Long's speech directed towards the entirety of the United State's population
vied for the spread of wealth around the country. Initially he proclaimed how absurd it was that
nearly a dozen men owned more monetary

A Long–Term Care Facility Introduction The need for effective health care and incidence of chronic
health conditions are expected to increase considerably with the aging of the baby boomers'
population. It is estimated that number of Americans with chronic health conditions will reach 150

decades ago are lagging behind the legal regulation that were established, while not accommodating

research process included interview of the Director of Nursing (DON) and the director of the
organization. We strive to make the facility appear very homely for the residents. Behind the facade
of homeliness and supportive environment is the reality of ineffective plan and facility design. To
enable our clients with superior clinical services for excellent rehabilitation and healing outcomes
and meet emerging technological and regulatory needs we need to renovate our facility. The
research and interview indicated that we need to address certain impediments to providing effective
long–term care especially for patients with dementia. Currently, we have some patients who have
dementia with challenging behaviors. Not only these, we need effective in–service and pre–service
training for both staff and family members on how to meaningfully work with people with
challenging behavior problems due to dementia. Also, we need to increase community awareness
and services provision of people with dementia as we provide excellent care to our clients. Hence,
our plan will include dementia–friendly facility, expanding support and interventions for family
members. Last year one of the patients with dementia broke the window and left the building. It

Long Hair Research Paper
Many women love the idea of growing and maintaining long, lustrous locks like the ones featured
on Disney characters such as Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Ariel. There's something about long hair that
tends to draw people in and fascinate them. If you're a woman who is looking for tips on growing
hair, look no further. All the tips you need are right at your fingertips. All of these tips are pretty
easy to implement and ease into. Before long, you'll see undeniable results and gorgeous, long hair.
1. Wash & Condition Regularly
Proper cleansing and conditioning of the hair is very important. Between cotton pillowcases, knitted
winter caps, cold weather, and lots of hair products, there are many things that can mess with your
strands' ability to thrive and shine. Proper cleansing involves a good cleansing shampoo and a
nourishing conditioner. Depending on your hair texture, washing your hair every day could be a bad
thing. Figure out how frequently your hair needs to be washed by experimentation. After a little trial
and error, you'll figure out the proper frequency for good shampooing. After every single shampoo,
it is vital to put back in the moisture to the hair with a nourishing conditioner. If you skip this step,
you risk having dry, brittle hair and lots of breakage.
2. Deep Condition with Heat.

Analysis Of Huey Long And Father Coughlin
In the beginning there were politics with their politicians and catholicism with its priests. The two
most public of both of these groups were Huey Long and Father Coughlin. Long won political
power and position after becoming a lawyer and politician by championing for the little guy against
large businesses. Coughlin came to national presence after being the first preacher to successfully
utilize the radio to bring attention to his church and faith that later took on a large political role.
Both of these men lead campaigns that focused on large business, the extremely rich and the
working poor and how to best make their lives better. Huey Long started off his law and political
career by making a long outlook prediction for himself. First he would run for a secondary office in
his home state of Louisiana, then he would run for governor, after winning that office he would
move on to run for the senate, and after that he would win the office of President of the United
States. To begin accomplishing his goals he left his job as a traveling salesman and, with the help of
his brother and a friend, moved to New Orleans and began attending law school in Tulane. After
attending school for a year he requested a special bar exam and passed with flying colors. Soon
after, Long moved back to his home town of Winnfield and shared an office with his brother Julius.
While practicing law he took many different types of cases but the majority of his cases were in a

Long Distance Relationship and How To Make It Work
Dear Love Lady,
I have a love problem and I don't know what to do. I am a freshman in college and so is my
boyfriend. We have been together since our senior year in high school, and we are very much in
love. But, since we've been at college, we have developed a problem. We don't see each other from
month to month. You see, we go to colleges in completely different states. We have always lived on

I would pretend that it was my boyfriend doing it and then I would think of how I would feel if he
did it. If you would get upset about it, than 10 times out of 10 so would he.
There has to be trust in every important relationship, a relationship won't last if there are doubts on
either end. Always trust that your boyfriend is being honest with you and always be honest with
him.
The next thing a long–distance relationship needs is communication.
Good communication is a MUST! You and your boyfriend have to have open lines of
communication. If something is bothering one of you, you must tell the other how you are feeling. If
you don't be open the other will never know what you are thinking or if there is a problem. Unless of
course you can read minds.
Just kidding! There shouldn't be secrets kept from one another and if there are open communication
lines, it will avoid any types of problems.
Another aspect of communication that is important is expressing your feelings. If you are missing
your boyfriend a lot one day, tell him. It will make him feel good to know that you are thinking of
him and need him. By expressing your feelings, it will keep the relationship open and honest. And
also add a little excitement for the next time you get to see each

Similarities And Differences Between Hueey Long Vs Benito...
In the 1932, the March publishing of Vanity Fair included a piece of art by Miguel Covarrubias. The
original piece, titled Impossible Interview No. 4, Huey Long vs. Benito Mussolini, was made the
same year using gouache on paper. The majority of the space is used to depict two figures, and by
the title, one can determine the figure on the right is Benito Mussolini, and the figure on the left is
the Louisiana governor, Huey Long. The artwork could be described as a semi–realistic cartoon of
these two people. At first glance these figures seem quite different from the clothing they are
wearing and their facial expressions, but if one looks closer at their poses and surroundings, they are
rather similar. Miguel Covarrubias uses these similarities and differences in the appearance of the
two figures, and their surroundings to show how the people they portray both had power through
different means. There are two ways the viewer can infer that these figures have power and
authority. The first is the scene around them. Behind Mussolini, on the right, is a red velvet curtain,
that has a golden tie–back around waist level. This tie–back, golden fringes on the bottom of the
curtain, and the specific color of the curtain all are usually found in homes of powerful or rich
patrons, or in buildings of important government figures. On the left side of the paintings, there is a
stone railing with hills in the distance. This gives an appearance that the figures are standing near a

The Word Long Effect
Recalling the last goal to have the ability to comprehend anything about the research being
conducted on the word length impact. It is critical to recognize what precisely it is. The word length
effect is characterized as an occasion "when memory for memory of words is better for long words"
(Goldstein, 2011, p.133). What this is basically saying is that words that only contain 1 syllable are
easier to input, and later recall, from memory than words that are several syllables in length. The
word length effect is one of the phenomena that is involved with the phonological loop of working
memory (Goldstein, 2011).
There is a lot of exploration accessibleto be reviewed on the different aspects of the word length
effect. One such research article

The Importance Of Long And Long Term Memory
Why do we have short– and long–term memory?
We have short– and long–term memory because of the way memories need to be stored, how the
two main systems of the brain work, and evolutionary factors.
We have short– and long–term memory because of the way memories need to be stored. There is
actually a plethora of different types of memory, but I will just be discussing the basics: sensory,
working, commonly called short–term, and long–term memory. Sensory and working memory is
similar in that they have two fundamental differences from long–term memory, they have chunk
limits, and temporal decay. Chunk limits mean that you're working memory can only contain a
rather small amount of memory. Temporal decay is when information fades just due to time. When
you're senses experience something it is stored in sensory memory for around 5 seconds. If this
information catches your attention it is moved to working memory for processing. Once in working
memory the information last for approximately 30 seconds while you process it. Information can
stay in working memory as long as you think about it, but once you leave it, it either fades or is
stored in long–term memory, where it can last from minutes to your entire life. You're sitting at your
desk writing a paper and the clock in the bottom left corner counts up a minute. You're probably not
going to notice it, because it's not important enough to be put in working memory. Now a spider
climbs over your screen, if you have a phobia of

Long Term Memory Recall
The ability to recall an event is a human attribute that is unconsciously cherished all throughout
one's life. A human's ability to store and retrieve memories is a complex, and typically
misunderstood, process. Although the thought of storing and retrieving a memory seems simple, like
accessing information through a filing cabinet, it is much more convoluted, as the ability to
remember past experiences requires several complicated processes that take place in the brain.
Different types of memories call also for different processes of retrieval, further complicating the
location of where the brain stores certain memories and how it recalls these events. The complexity
of the human brain, especially involving memory, has been studied since the ... Show more content

In this method, "remembering a fact, event or object that is not currently physically present and
[requiring] the direct uncovering of information from memory" characterizes the basis of recall
(Mastin par 5). In contrast to recognition, examples of this would include remembering the name of
a recognized person, or answering fill–in the blank questions; here, more knowledge and essentially
memory, is needed for the "[reconstruction of] the information and [requiring of] the activation of all
the neurons involved in the memory in question" (Mastin par 6). From this, recall can be divided
into three main types: free recall, cued recall, and serial recall. Free recall is a process" in which a
person is given a list of items to remember and then is asked to recall them in any order", displaying
the primacy, recency and contiguity effect, which impacts the order in which the items can be
remembered within a list (Mastin par 11). Cued recall "is the process in which a person is given a
list of items to remember and is then tested with the use of cues or guides", usually resulting in more
memory of information that would not have been possibly to retrieve without a cue (Mastin par 12).
Lastly, serial recall "refers to our ability to recall items or events in the order in which they
occurred...to make sense of them" (Mastin par 13). Unlike free and cued recall, serial recall is
different in that LTM and STM sequences differ. LTM is

Long Term Store
Atkinson and Shiffrin assumed that the longer an item was held in short–term store, the greater the
probability that it would be transferred to long term store and hence stored more durably.
Craik and Lockhart suggested that rather than concentrate on a structure view of memory, it might
be more beneficial to concentrate on the processes that contribute to remembering. They suggest that
what if they recalled, possibly not some item that has been loaded in a store, but rather that the after
effect of processing remain. they made the further assumption that processing began at a relatively
superficial and shallows level and proceeded to deeper level, with shallow processing giving rise to
relatively poorly traces, while deep and richer levels trace that are considerably more durable.
THEY REFERRED TO ALREADY existing evidence to suggest that short–term memory was
typically associated with phonological and long–term with semantic processing, but suggest that
rather than regard phonological coding as characteristic of short term store, and semantic coding as a
characteristic of long–term store, the coding its self should be regarded as primary. ... Show more

Causes Of The Long Parliament
Long Parliament was called upon by Charles I, but technically Long Parliament created itself by
imposing an act that would only allow parliament to be dissolved by a parliamentary vote. Long
Parliament was being led by John Pym whose primary goal was to correct troubles in the kingdom,
especially acts of treason because of the recent Bishops' War. When considering potential acts of
treason, it was speculated that Lord Strafford, who was a member of the King's Privy Council, had
treasonous intentions. After investigating the situation, Pym's accusations fell through, but it did
come to light that the King's Privy Council was encouraging Charles I to act without parliament.
Specifically, Lord Strafford told the king "Sir, you have now done your duty, and your subjects have
failed theirs; and therefore, you are absolved from the rules of government... you have an army in
Ireland, with which you may reduce this kingdom." Charles I was being encouraged to use Irish
forces to remove parliament, in order to restore his power. This began the dispute between Long
Parliament and Charles I, over who controlled the military, that began the English Civil war. Long
Parliament implemented the Militia Ordinance, which declared that parliament was responsible for
appointing new officers instead of the king.
By the time Sir William Waller wrote to parliament Charles I and Long Parliament were deeper into
war, and the Parliamentarians were quickly losing because of their militia system. Sir

Long Term Memory
This paper will attempt to provide the reader and educator with a brief overview of Memory to
include: memory encoding, memory storage, forgetting, displacement, theories of forgetting, long
term and short term memory.
Memory is the term given to the structure and processes involved in the storage and subsequent
retrieval of information. According to psychology memory is defined as the process in which
information is encoded, stored and retrieved.
Memory is very important to every one of our lives without memory of the past we could not
operate in the present or think about tomorrow, our future. We would not be able to recall what we
did yesterday, what happened today or what we want to do tomorrow. Without memory we would

A trace is considered some form of physical and/or chemical change in the nervous system. This
theory states that we forget because of an automatic decay or fading of the memory trace. It centers
around the very little time and duration short term memory has. It suggests that the time short term
memory can hold information is between 15 and 30 seconds unless it is rehearsed. After the 15 to 10
seconds the information/ trace begins to fade. No one disagrees to the fact that memory gets worse
the more time is in between learning and recall but according to the trace decay theory any events
between learning and recall have affect on recall. However there is little support for decay theory as
an explanation of information loss for STM and

Huey Long Share Our Wealth Speech Summary
The "Share Our Wealth" speech from Huey Long shows the radical aspects of his plan. The most
radical aspects of his plan was that he wanted the American people to all have a rationed wealth.
This means that "none should become too rich and none should become too poor." Long wanted the
gap between the rich and the poor to not be as big as it was. The ideas that Huey Long had were
controversial and "faced criticism from Socialists, Communists, and the Democratic Party." Long's
ideas might not have all become a reality; however, some of his ideas can be found in different
government actions. For example, the Social Security Act of 1935 created old age pensions, which
was Huey Long's fourth step in his share–our–wealth movement. Another example

Essay on Willie Stark as Huey Long
Robert Penn Warren's novel, All the King's Men depicts the tale of the rise of a political leader
named Willie Stark. Many readers have speculated that Warren based Willie Stark's character on
Huey Long, a controversial, political leader from Louisiana who was prominent during the early
1900s. Although Robert Penn Warren has "repeatedly denied that Willie Stark is a fictional portrait
of Huey Long," many aspects of the novel directly correlate to the political career and personal life
of Huey Long (Payne). Robert Penn Warren creates a character whose experiences and political
career directly correlate to the events in Huey Long's life. The speculations that Willie Stark is a
fictional representation of Huey Long are indisputable due to ... Show more content on

Huey Long was murdered by Dr. Carl Weiss, the son of a Judge Long, who Long was attempting to
remove from the bench (worldpress.com). According to a newspaper article covering Long's murder,
Weiss reportedly "fired a handgun at Long" in the State Capitol building on the evening of
September 8, 1935 (worldpress.com). Dr. Weiss's bullet "fatally [struck] him in the abdomen" but
death was not instant; Huey Long died two days after the shooting (worldpress.com). In the same
way as Huey Long was murdered, Stark is attacked by Adam Stanton after Adam who was offended
by the discovery of Willie and Anne's affair. Adam approaches Willie and "[puts] out his hand," but
instead of giving in a handshake like Jack had hoped, Adam shoots Willie (596). Jack watches as
"two little spurts of pale–orange flame from the muzzle of the weapon" are released, but Willie "did
not die there in the lobby under the dome" (598). Although Willie survives the attack in the Capitol
building, he dies the third day following his surgery to remove the bullets. Both assassinations, that
of Willie Stark and Huey Long are nearly identical. Both men were shot by a doctor in the Capitol
building, and both survived initially but died shortly after the event occurred. Clearly Robert Penn
Warren drew upon the shooting of Huey Long to create a similar situation in his novel. Each detail

Huey Pierce Long: A Man Of Power In The 1920's
Huey Pierce Long Junior, a well–known name in many Louisiana and even other south–eastern
homes, was a man of power in the 1920's. Growing up in a rural and poor family of nine, him being
the seventh, was not easy. But being the outspoken person he was from a young age, he stood out.
Using that to his advantage, he managed to take an unofficial private bar exam without so much as a
high school graduate diploma. Then at age 30, he was already running for Governor of Louisiana.
Although his first campaign for Governor in 1924 was unsuccessful that did not deter him. He even
went as far to say that had there not been rains before the polls he would have won, but the rains
made his rural voters unable to vote because the unpaved roads were not drivable. This issue would
later be something he worked strongly to fix. But Long ran for Governor of Louisiana again in 1928,
during this campaign he promised good roads, good bridges, and even free healthcare. After his
many speeches, promises, and campaigns he won the political position of Governor of Louisiana. ...

the 1920s these patients were not treated or cared for well. The few institutions the state had were in

they were fortunate enough to be released they were treated with no respect by the public. But
during Long's career he worked hard to better these institutions. He abolished torturous therapies
such as chaining patients to their chairs in plow stocks. He then provided modern therapy that was
much more beneficial to the patients. He also built institutions for mentally disabled children and
epileptics. All this along with building new institutions and renovating the old ones, he totally

Night Of The Long Knives Essay
By the end of 1933 Hitler's power was extensive but not total. His power was potentially at risk
from three sources: the President, the army and his SA (Stormtroopers). Hindenburg could still, in
theory, dismiss Hitler and the other Nazi's in the cabinet, the army could use its strength to force
Hitler from office and the SA could endanger Hitler's relations with the army by carrying out further
acts of hooliganism and demanding more power for themselves. By the end of 1934, all three
problems had been largely solved due to the Night of the long Knives. After the Reichstag election
of July 1932, the Nazi's were the largest single party but not a majority party. Hindenburg allowed

It helped Hitler to establish his dictatorship as all men in the army swore a personal oath to Hitler.
Although, there were other events too that helped Hitler to consolidate his power such as The
Reichstag Fire, The Enabling Act etc. The night of the long knives was very important because of
the various reasons listed below. The army supported Hitler when he proclaimed himself as the
Führer (leader) of Germany. The army also had the power to remove all the opponents. The murders
of General Von Schleicher and Von Kahr demonstrated that any resistance from within the army
would be brutally put down. This caused a fear in people's mind and they were scared to act against
Hitler. Therefore the night of the long also resulted in reducing Hitler's opponents. One of the most
significant outcomes of the night of the long knives was that Hitler gained support of the rich
industrialists, who further helped him to establish his power. He was also able to ban all other
political parties besides the Nazi's. Therefore, the night of the long knives helped Hitler to gain
support of many people and become the supreme dictator of Germany. Hitler rewarded the SS for
their loyalty and for carrying out the purge. Therefore Hitler got the chance to build up his new
group, the SS. He also apprised the SS that they could be an independent force. By 1936–1937,
Himmler would complete the consolidation of all German police forces under SS control

A Long Walk to Freedom
This extract is an autobiography by Nelson Mandela talking about the transition from a small
undemanding child to a contributing factor in society. The writer engages our sympathy by effective
use of vocabulary, various linguistic techniques and through his nostalgic tone. In the title, 'Long

this exhausting walk. Even the word 'walk' co notates to the, strive for the attainment of freedom and

All these horrific visions illustrated and the bitter, harsh words of truth leave an undying,
unbelievable and undeniable impact on the reader. The words pierce through our ears, almost
allowing us to feel the pain. It arouses a number of questions in our minds especially due to the
irony, and great sympathy for the Africans. Yet, the young adults are only 'more and more quiet' and
'more and more angry.' By these repeated comparatives, the writer contrasts their present feeling of
resentment to their mood of celebration earlier. All the words are slowly seeping in but it only made
them rather 'cross' as they thought the chief was being selfish and 'ignorant,' in his 'abusive
comments,' since he was not noticing the positive side – the whites brought them 'value of the
education' and the moral cultures and etiquettes taught by them. Their tender age has almost blinded
them to the 'oppressor' behind what they think is the 'benefactor.' In all, the only thing the chief
ended up doing was 'spoiling the proud feelings with wrong headed remarks,' for the teenagers.
Gradually, the pace slows and there is growth of mental maturity and realization as the true meaning
of the chief's words began to seep in Mandela's mind. The real essence of the words had 'sown a
seed' to the development of a potential future, although it had been 'dormant for a long season.' Now,

Essay On The Long March
The long process of transition in China known as the Chinese Revolution that lasted for nearly half a
century is marked by many significant events. On October 16th 1934, 86,000 troops escaped from
Jiangxi province away from the Nationalists without knowing that they just started a 10,000
kilometer hike to the north of China through some of the harshest terrains. The Long March was an
unexpected, unplanned one year long retreat that turned into a memorable, and inspirable victory for
the Communist Party. The Long March was arguably the most defining moment of the Chinese
Revolution that led to the rise of Mao as a leader of the Communist Party and the commander of the

On this conference, Mao was finally elected as a member of the Standing Committee of the Political
Bureau. The top commanding right which consisted of Bo Gu and Otto Braun was also replaced by
the Central Commanding group comprised of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and Wang Jiaxiang. Mao
believed in a peasant–based revolution but the Moscow people lacked faith in him and didn't support
Mao. The men of the Long March were relieved when Mao got his position because he suggested
plans and the men were told what to do. Mao also recruited many peasants that were willing to fight
for him because Mao influenced them. In modern Chinese high school history textbooks, the Zunyi
conference is regarded as a turning point of the Long March because "it managed to save the party,
the Red Army and the Chinese revolution." (China Daily, 2004) The Long March was a very
advantageous moment for Mao and as he puts it in his own words at a party conference in 1935
"The Long March is also a propaganda force. It has announced to some 200 million people in eleven
provinces that the road of the Red Army is their only road to liberation. Without the Long March,

Going the Distance: Long Distance Relationships in College...
"Long–distance relationships in college." Does that sound frightening, or does it sound like a poorly
stated joke? Many people believe that long distance relationships are the sole thing that you do not
get yourself into when going off to college. You choose your university, you choose your sorority or
fraternity, you choose your classes, and you chose your major, but whatever you do, you should
never choose to be in a long–distance relationship when heading off to pursue higher education. For
many newly dubbed "adults," college life entails a world full of partying, studying, hooking up, and
experimenting (whatever that may entail). College is the place where both guys and girls get a

The least they can do is try to continue their relationship with long distance. It has been reported
that, "75% of college students at some point have been in a long distance relationship," (Penn State
Behrend: "Long Distance Relationships" 1). In addition, "25% to 50% of college students are in a
long distance relationship at any given time" (Penn State Behrend: "Long Distance Relationships"
1). Couples that identify with the idea that there is no hurt in trying, find that it might not be so bad
after all. Although abruptly severing ties is not the appropriate response to a grand separation to
come, leaving one another with the idea that both parties are on the exact same page is not a wise
path to take either. A couple does not just simply come to an unspoken consensus about what is
expected of each other. It is important for them to sit down and "engage in open and honest
communication about the separation and discuss what each wants from the relationship" (Penn State
Behrend: "Long Distance Relationships" 1). At the end of the day, miles are temporary, yet
relationships don't have to be. As a long distance relationship progresses, and couples become more
stressed out with studying for exams and keeping up with clubs, they tend to miss each other more
than ever. Longing for the comfort and affection of their significant other, couples can bare the
distance by scheduling visits to one another. University students scrape by each day just to

The Benefits Of Long Distance Relationships
Long distance relationships are common in our present day culture because of personal choices. We
are connected on a global scale and these connections are not only economical, they are also
romantic. Personally, this facet of living in 2017 has affected the relationship with my boyfriend and
many problems occur when living far away from the person I love. Commonly, the problems caused
by distances in communication create turmoil that transition into our romantic lives. The solution for
this concern is based on a technology product that provides individuals a wider range of options.
Macmillan Dictionary defines long–distance relationship as "a romantic relationship between two
people who live far apart and so cannot see each other very often." By saying long–distance
relationship, it is not only an obstacle for lovers. Married couples, friends, and parents with their
children might also experience the same situation. Geographically separation can come from a
variety of reasons, including college students going to different school, individuals pursue different
career goals, and for immigration purpose. Married couples can be separated due to military service
or deployment. Not many people believe in the durability of a long–distance relationship. In my
case, I choose to study abroad for my major while my boyfriend is currently living in Vietnam. I
have to admit that it is not easy to keep a relationship going strong. If it is tough to maintain a
healthy relationship in a

The leadership of Grand Central make tough decisions each year, as their strategy calls for them to
cull 2 books from their three hundred, on which to focus most of their marketing time, energy and
resources. The theory is that the couple books with the most potential will "carry" their year in terms
of generating revenue. This strategy bears out for them. The sixty–one titles Grand Central had on
its front list in 2006 incurred marketing costs of $650,000, and generated $100,000 in revenue.
However, the company's best seller from 2007 incurred marketing costs of $7m, while generating
nearly $12m in revenue (Elberse 2008).
This tried and true method has been used for years, across industries, to great effect – basic Pareto
Principal. But the argument can be made that this is not a market–driven consumer approach. To the
contrary, this can be seen as an approach that works in the perceived best interests of the firms (in
terms of things like budgeting and projecting), and while it may make some use of customer opinion
data (polls, responses, feedback, market–study), it can almost not help but be flawed. In reality, this
may be an example of self–fulfilling prophesy, where the blockbuster products sell successfully,
almost arbitrarily, because of the great investment in resources and marketing.
The above scenario is one that the long tail theory tries to directly annihilate. In premise, there may

Can Long Distance Relationship Work?
A long distance relationship can have many meanings and experiences may be very different from
one person to another. For some people, living a long distance from a loved one may be a normal

long distance relationship can be for a few days, years, or months can occur over a few days,
months. For other people, long distance relationship is just like something normal in their family

Communication Technologies; College students use various communication technologies on a daily
basis to contact family and friends, however, few studies have specifically examined the user's
satisfaction with these tools. Yates (2008) found that many students reportedly spend an average of
30 minutes to several hours on Facebook daily, though this system proved unfulfilling for those who
became emotionally attached and preoccupied with their connections with "friends". Knoxville
(2011) found that while students integrated technology into their social lives, face–to–face
communication remained the preferred mode of interaction. Long distance relationship and close
contact relationships, couples may employ phone, email, and chat at similar rates (Merolla, 2007),
though physical time together remains widely unequal.

  • 3. Argumentative Analysis On Long Island BEC SPK: a moniker widely recognized by all native Long Islanders as the iconic sandwich, bacon, egg and cheese, salt, pepper, ketchup. Add well–done hash browns if you are looking to indulge, and order sautéed spinach too if you are on a health kick. The underlying commonality for all Long Islanders is our lust for LI town delis, each with their own local neighborhood charm. As much as we are loyal to our consistent breakfast order, our egg sandwiches are loyal to us too. They are symbolic of a simple meal to continue the weekend ritual and to start your Sunday off in the right direction, recuperating from last night, while paving the way for a productive day ahead. On Long Island, we hold our food orders to exceptionally high standards and take pride in the finished product that cannot be replicated elsewhere. I amble below the emerald green signage into Seaqua Deli, a hidden gem of LI and the heart of St. James. In line, stands 19 customers ahead, and I successfully squeeze my flip flops in just enough space to fit three centimeters in front of the door weather stripping, allowing the door to shut ... • 5. Personal Narrative: The North Side Of Long Beach The United States has always been "home" to me because I feel that I am a bit of the quintessential American story. I was born to immigrants hoping for a better opportunity than what was offered from their third world home country. I was raised and went to school here, which blended many of my parent's home culture and the new American culture. As I have matured, I have noticed how much my life has been influenced by society's opportunities and issues. The American character is the crossroads of opportunity, struggle, and hopefulness because the it is not only a reflection of the founding father's ideas, but also a reflection of minorities who have interjected their experiences that shaped my American journey. Because of the very small chance of being a success in Belize, many strive to come to the states for improving their quality of life. Migrating to the United States was on many Belizeans priority because it meant they could have more access to popular items usually seem from visiting relatives or heard about on radios. Belizeans believe in American exceptionalism because America's standard for being the best gave rise to excitement to attain the previously unattainable instigated their hope to struggle and benefit for hardworking individuals. My parents left Belize to start a life filled with greater possibility. Their journey to America was preceded by a few my grandmother's family migrating first in the late 1960s, which led to the opportunity for my mother in the early 1980s. After she was settled, she then sponsored my dad's immigration. They viewed immigrating here as a giant opportunity for their own work ethic. • 7. Wallace And Long Speech Analysis Demagoguery is polarizing propaganda that motivates members of an ingroup to hate and scapegoat some outgroups. In the two speeches "Inaugural Address" by Governor George Wallace, and "Share Our Wealth" by Senator Huey Long, both use similar demagoguery strategies. The Governor of Alabama George Wallace gave speech while entering office, argued that Alabama deserves the "freedom" to stay segregated. As then Senator of Louisiana Huey Long gave his speech with a insight to get Americans out of the Great Depression his main argument was to share wealth throughout society to bring a fair well balanced society, that is a fair chance to life, liberty, and happiness. Claims that Wallace makes are, segregation should be kept forever, Alabama is an honorable state, and desegregation can be dangerous also a few claims that Long's makes are; to care for the veterans of our wars, to limit poverty, and lastly to limit fortunes to a few million dollars.Wallace and Long share the same strategy of demagoguery as they both are seen though Nationalism meaning love for one's nation. Wallace and Long also use fallacies as Wallace uses False Analogy while Long uses a different strategy which is Straw Man. Wallace and Long's claims both represent demagoguery as they both have political leaders and seek to gain power by both using Nationalism. The effect the claims might have on the audience toward Long's claim is the state will appreciate and continue to support long opposed to wealthy people might feel irritated as they losing money, and the effect on Wallace's claims on the audience are mostly negative as because wallace wants Alabama to stay segregated. Wallace was the governor of Alabama, he was pro– segregation and a conservative democrat, opposed to Long he was also a governor but for Louisiana, he wanted the wealth to share a percentage of their money to spread wealth throughout society. Wallace main focus of his speech was based on segregation, and politics; Long was writing about sharing wealth along individuals, and a chance to life, liberty and happiness. When Wallace and Long speeches were presented for Wallace was in 1963; during school riots, civil rights movement, post WWII, etc Wallace speech was given in Alabama ... • 9. Essay Prejudice Towards Men With Long Hair What is prejudice? Prejudice is defined as an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason. There are various types of prejudice. For example, the most common ones are race, financial situation, such as lower, middle, and upper classes, and ethnicity. Another type of prejudice is when someone is judged strictly by the way they look. One firm example would be men having long hair. To many people, this type seems eccentric; however, it is more typical than presumed. I have witnessed this type of prejudice firsthand. My boyfriend has longer hair than I and for this reason, he has been discriminated against many times. For instance, many people assume he uses drugs because he has long hair. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just the other day someone told him they had a pair of sheep shears they would love to try out on him. My uncle also volunteers to cut his hair everytime he sees him. He too believes he looks like a girl. The criticism is not always intentional, however. He has also been called a girl various times by accident. For instance, while we were eating at a restaurant one time the waitress asked what "us ladies would like to drink." Another time as similar incident occurred was at the mall. While we were browsing through items, the manager approached us and asked if "we ladies needed any assistance." The reasons people pre judge, as well as discriminate, are bountiful. One in particular is fear. People fear what they do not understand. Some people are not sure why a man would want long hair and, as a result, they make false judgments, such as assuming they use illegal drugs. Societal differences also may cause prejudice and discrimination. The older generation tends to see long haired men as an example of a hippie. During the 1960's, hippies were known to engage in risky drug behaviors, such as using marijuana, LSD, and even cocaine. Therefore, today some elderly people automatically assume that a long haired man is into drugs. Another reason for discrimination is ignorance. Unfortunately, many people do not take time to try to understand other cultures or ways of life. Thus leading to irrelevant judgments about people they probably know very ... Mistry's Such a Long Journey: the Struggle Within Essay Common motifs depicted in the characters throughout Rohinton Mistry's "Such a long journey" include the contrast of many opposing forces. Good and bad, bitterness and forgiveness, saving and destruction, heaven and hell as just a few of the conflicting themes. Many secondary characters in the novel are important in the life of Gustad, and encourage these themes. In The Road to Salvation: Mythological and Theological Intertextuality in Rohinton Mistry's Such a Long Journey, Michel W. Talented and tolerant, he is used as a foil of Gustad who proves to be intolerant of his son Sohrab's choice to not attend the Indian Institute of Technology. LTM works in conjunction with working memory to receive and process information for storage (Sousa, 2011). With this knowledge, educators are able to tailor their instructional strategies for optimal results for students. Learners must be provided with various tools to help them organize and process the information being delivered in the classroom (Özel, 2009) Within the elementary school setting are two subsets of learners: the primary level consisting of kindergarten through second grade and the intermediate level comprised of third through fifth grade. By having students focus on the flow chart, the instructor is also minimizing distractions of the physical environment allowing students to be engaged in the lesson (Unsworth, 2016). The teacher will label the five boxes on the flow map to show what sentence goes in each box ie; topic sentence, first, next, last, and conclusion sentence. By creating this organizational map, students are able to break apart their assignment into more manageable tasks. Each time students are required to write a narrative using temporal words to sequence, the process is repeated using the format. Different goal outcomes require different organizational strategies. • 17. Huey P. Long 's Speech Huey P. Long's speech was judged based on his practices as a Louisiana senator and governor, however it had the potential to be so much more had he lived to continue his legacy. People appeared to be afraid of how Governor Long operated within the legislative system of Louisiana because of the fact that, he tended to find his way around legal statutes that hindered his agenda. Some could argue that he stepped out of the bounds of power that reigns in a representative of a democratic nation, however he wound up being one of the most effective public servants in the country. Amidst the Great Depression, Governor Long gave Louisiana 's economy a huge lift with the vast construction of bridges, schools, and roads. In fact the state of Louisiana has not had anything close to such an economic boost as to what Huey p. Long offered since that time. As time has passed, Louisiana has become infamous for its lack of proper public education, especially regarding grades one through twelve. This lack of proper education has become constantly associated with the state since Huey Long's assassination. Despite the controversy over how Long executed his political agenda, it cannot be refuted on how productive and beneficial his reign was for the state. For instance, in Huey P Long's speech directed towards the entirety of the United State's population vied for the spread of wealth around the country. Initially he proclaimed how absurd it was that nearly a dozen men owned more monetary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Analysis Of Huey Long And Father Coughlin In the beginning there were politics with their politicians and catholicism with its priests. The two most public of both of these groups were Huey Long and Father Coughlin. Long won political power and position after becoming a lawyer and politician by championing for the little guy against large businesses. Coughlin came to national presence after being the first preacher to successfully utilize the radio to bring attention to his church and faith that later took on a large political role. Both of these men lead campaigns that focused on large business, the extremely rich and the working poor and how to best make their lives better. Huey Long started off his law and political career by making a long outlook prediction for himself. First he would run for a secondary office in his home state of Louisiana, then he would run for governor, after winning that office he would move on to run for the senate, and after that he would win the office of President of the United States. To begin accomplishing his goals he left his job as a traveling salesman and, with the help of his brother and a friend, moved to New Orleans and began attending law school in Tulane. After attending school for a year he requested a special bar exam and passed with flying colors. • 31. Similarities And Differences Between Hueey Long Vs Benito... In the 1932, the March publishing of Vanity Fair included a piece of art by Miguel Covarrubias. The original piece, titled Impossible Interview No. 4, Huey Long vs. Benito Mussolini, was made the same year using gouache on paper. The majority of the space is used to depict two figures, and by the title, one can determine the figure on the right is Benito Mussolini, and the figure on the left is the Louisiana governor, Huey Long. The artwork could be described as a semi–realistic cartoon of these two people. At first glance these figures seem quite different from the clothing they are wearing and their facial expressions, but if one looks closer at their poses and surroundings, they are rather similar. Miguel Covarrubias uses these similarities and differences in the appearance of the two figures, and their surroundings to show how the people they portray both had power through different means. There are two ways the viewer can infer that these figures have power and authority. The first is the scene around them. Behind Mussolini, on the right, is a red velvet curtain, that has a golden tie–back around waist level. This tie–back, golden fringes on the bottom of the curtain, and the specific color of the curtain all are usually found in homes of powerful or rich patrons, or in buildings of important government figures. • 33. The Word Long Effect Recalling the last goal to have the ability to comprehend anything about the research being conducted on the word length impact. It is critical to recognize what precisely it is. The word length effect is characterized as an occasion "when memory for memory of words is better for long words" (Goldstein, 2011, p.133). What this is basically saying is that words that only contain 1 syllable are easier to input, and later recall, from memory than words that are several syllables in length. The word length effect is one of the phenomena that is involved with the phonological loop of working memory (Goldstein, 2011). There is a lot of exploration accessibleto be reviewed on the different aspects of the word length effect. One such research article ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Importance Of Long And Long Term Memory Why do we have short– and long–term memory? We have short– and long–term memory because of the way memories need to be stored, how the two main systems of the brain work, and evolutionary factors. We have short– and long–term memory because of the way memories need to be stored. There is actually a plethora of different types of memory, but I will just be discussing the basics: sensory, working, commonly called short–term, and long–term memory. Sensory and working memory is similar in that they have two fundamental differences from long–term memory, they have chunk limits, and temporal decay. Chunk limits mean that you're working memory can only contain a rather small amount of memory. Temporal decay is when information fades just due to time. When you're senses experience something it is stored in sensory memory for around 5 seconds. If this information catches your attention it is moved to working memory for processing. Once in working memory the information last for approximately 30 seconds while you process it. Information can stay in working memory as long as you think about it, but once you leave it, it either fades or is stored in long–term memory, where it can last from minutes to your entire life. You're sitting at your desk writing a paper and the clock in the bottom left corner counts up a minute. You're probably not going to notice it, because it's not important enough to be put in working memory. Now a spider climbs over your screen, if you have a phobia of ... • 37. Long Term Memory Recall The ability to recall an event is a human attribute that is unconsciously cherished all throughout one's life. A human's ability to store and retrieve memories is a complex, and typically misunderstood, process. Although the thought of storing and retrieving a memory seems simple, like accessing information through a filing cabinet, it is much more convoluted, as the ability to remember past experiences requires several complicated processes that take place in the brain. Different types of memories call also for different processes of retrieval, further complicating the location of where the brain stores certain memories and how it recalls these events. The complexity of the human brain, especially involving memory, has been studied since the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this method, "remembering a fact, event or object that is not currently physically present and [requiring] the direct uncovering of information from memory" characterizes the basis of recall (Mastin par 5). In contrast to recognition, examples of this would include remembering the name of a recognized person, or answering fill–in the blank questions; here, more knowledge and essentially memory, is needed for the "[reconstruction of] the information and [requiring of] the activation of all the neurons involved in the memory in question" (Mastin par 6). From this, recall can be divided into three main types: free recall, cued recall, and serial recall. Free recall is a process" in which a person is given a list of items to remember and then is asked to recall them in any order", displaying the primacy, recency and contiguity effect, which impacts the order in which the items can be remembered within a list (Mastin par 11). Cued recall "is the process in which a person is given a list of items to remember and is then tested with the use of cues or guides", usually resulting in more memory of information that would not have been possibly to retrieve without a cue (Mastin par 12). Lastly, serial recall "refers to our ability to recall items or events in the order in which they occurred...to make sense of them" (Mastin par 13). Long Term Store Atkinson and Shiffrin assumed that the longer an item was held in short–term store, the greater the probability that it would be transferred to long term store and hence stored more durably. Craik and Lockhart suggested that rather than concentrate on a structure view of memory, it might be more beneficial to concentrate on the processes that contribute to remembering. They suggest that what if they recalled, possibly not some item that has been loaded in a store, but rather that the after effect of processing remain. they made the further assumption that processing began at a relatively superficial and shallows level and proceeded to deeper level, with shallow processing giving rise to relatively poorly traces, while deep and richer levels trace that are considerably more durable. THEY REFERRED TO ALREADY existing evidence to suggest that short–term memory was typically associated with phonological and long–term with semantic processing, but suggest that rather than regard phonological coding as characteristic of short term store, and semantic coding as a characteristic of long–term store, the coding its self should be regarded as primary. ... • 41. Causes Of The Long Parliament Long Parliament was called upon by Charles I, but technically Long Parliament created itself by imposing an act that would only allow parliament to be dissolved by a parliamentary vote. Long Parliament was being led by John Pym whose primary goal was to correct troubles in the kingdom, especially acts of treason because of the recent Bishops' War. When considering potential acts of treason, it was speculated that Lord Strafford, who was a member of the King's Privy Council, had treasonous intentions. After investigating the situation, Pym's accusations fell through, but it did come to light that the King's Privy Council was encouraging Charles I to act without parliament. Specifically, Lord Strafford told the king "Sir, you have now done your duty, and your subjects have failed theirs; and therefore, you are absolved from the rules of government... you have an army in Ireland, with which you may reduce this kingdom." Charles I was being encouraged to use Irish forces to remove parliament, in order to restore his power. This began the dispute between Long Parliament and Charles I, over who controlled the military, that began the English Civil war. Long Parliament implemented the Militia Ordinance, which declared that parliament was responsible for appointing new officers instead of the king. By the time Sir William Waller wrote to parliament Charles I and Long Parliament were deeper into war, and the Parliamentarians were quickly losing because of their militia system. Sir ... According to psychology memory is defined as the process in which information is encoded, stored and retrieved. After the 15 to 10 seconds the information/ trace begins to fade. The most radical aspects of his plan was that he wanted the American people to all have a rationed wealth. This means that "none should become too rich and none should become too poor." Long wanted the gap between the rich and the poor to not be as big as it was. The ideas that Huey Long had were controversial and "faced criticism from Socialists, Communists, and the Democratic Party." Long's ideas might not have all become a reality; however, some of his ideas can be found in different government actions. Many readers have speculated that Warren based Willie Stark's character on Huey Long, a controversial, political leader from Louisiana who was prominent during the early 1900s. Growing up in a rural and poor family of nine, him being the seventh, was not easy. But being the outspoken person he was from a young age, he stood out. Using that to his advantage, he managed to take an unofficial private bar exam without so much as a high school graduate diploma. Then at age 30, he was already running for Governor of Louisiana. Although his first campaign for Governor in 1924 was unsuccessful that did not deter him. He even went as far to say that had there not been rains before the polls he would have won, but the rains made his rural voters unable to vote because the unpaved roads were not drivable. This issue would later be something he worked strongly to fix. His power was potentially at risk from three sources: the President, the army and his SA (Stormtroopers). Hindenburg could still, in theory, dismiss Hitler and the other Nazi's in the cabinet, the army could use its strength to force Hitler from office and the SA could endanger Hitler's relations with the army by carrying out further acts of hooliganism and demanding more power for themselves. By the end of 1934, all three problems had been largely solved due to the Night of the long Knives. Although, there were other events too that helped Hitler to consolidate his power such as The Reichstag Fire, The Enabling Act etc. The night of the long knives was very important because of the various reasons listed below. The army supported Hitler when he proclaimed himself as the Führer (leader) of Germany. The army also had the power to remove all the opponents. The murders of General Von Schleicher and Von Kahr demonstrated that any resistance from within the army would be brutally put down. This caused a fear in people's mind and they were scared to act against Hitler. Therefore the night of the long also resulted in reducing Hitler's opponents. One of the most significant outcomes of the night of the long knives was that Hitler gained support of the rich industrialists, who further helped him to establish his power. He was also able to ban all other political parties besides the Nazi's. Therefore, the night of the long knives helped Hitler to gain support of many people and become the supreme dictator of Germany. Hitler rewarded the SS for their loyalty and for carrying out the purge. Therefore Hitler got the chance to build up his new group, the SS. He also apprised the SS that they could be an independent force. By 1936–1937, Himmler would complete the consolidation of all German police forces under SS control ...
