First Contact Program
Identifying HIV patients as soon as possible
is critical to prevent the spread of the disease
and helps reduce the patient’s risk of developing
AIDS. This program was developed for Ohio
emergency rooms to encourage all patients
seeking any treatment to be screened for HIV.
Created in Spanish and English
ACTION:
Poster for waiting room.
‘Remind Me’ Lapel Button (not shown)
- helps nurses remind the nursing staff
to screening patients. Also acts as a tool
for patients to inqure about the button.
‘Why Get Screened’ Panel Card
- if the patient rejects the opportunity to be
screened, this two-sided educational card
explains why one should get tested, and
covers information about the painless
Rapid Test
‘Your Negative’ Round Palm Card
- given to patients who were screened and results
are HIV negative. Back-side is affixed with a
condom and explains ‘how to stay HIV negative’,
and encourages retesting.
‘STEPS’ Flip Book for HIV Positive
- Instead of a positive card, HIV positive patients
are given counseling and presented with the STEPS
book. This small discreet book is about the STEPS
a patient will go through, both emotionally and
physically to manage HIV. Additionally explains
how to get care, funding resources, monitoring
HIV, and managing side-effects, and how to create
a healthy lifestyle.
This program was so well received it was accepted as a poster abstract into
the CDCs International HIV Conference in Washington D.C.

Pre-Launch - Prilosec
P&G brand managers identified the need
to educate pharmacists on the difference
between antacids, H2’s (histamine blockers)
and PPI’s (proton pump inhibitors). Prilosec
is a PPI.
The goal was to create a short video
to explain the highly complex mechanisms
of action of acid reducers and simplify it to
a level that would be quickly understood.
I art-directed and story boarded this
video in partnership with Lightborne
Communications known for their 3D
animators and video production.
This was created on a one month
deadline and small budget.
