Who is the audience of our
particular media product?
Who did we aim our film at?
Age Range 16-25 Region - YorkshireGender - All
The reason for choosing 16-
25 age range is that this the
main age for people to go
to a cinema. This would
then give the film more of a
chance of making money at
the box office. Also the age
of the actors and setting
and theme is more age
appropriate compared to an
over 60.
This film is not aimed at a
gender it is a film that can
be watched by all. The
genre horror is liked by all
gender.
The reason our film could
appeal to Yorkshire people
is that this is where the film
is located and also the
actors that feature from.
Also there is relatable crimes
for example the Yorkshire
ripper.
Film Certificate
Certificate – 15
The certificate that we have chose for our film was
15 as it features violence with the use of blood that
features on Liam when he is laded died. There is
the use of drugs in the form of cigarettes which
shows there is use. Also there is the use of threat
and horror that feature throughout. This use of the
film certificate is also contributing to the target
audience that our film is age at. (16-24 years old)
Audience Research
When researching audiences for the horror genre I found that the main age of horror film goers are at
the age range of 16-24.
- The reason for this is that they enjoy watching horror films because they like to experience new
feelings and also experiment with the different emotions that can be used in a horror film.
- The use of unnatural images which can feature in a horror film don’t put of the 16-24 age range
compared to an older audiences.
Screenshots
These scenes show the use of drug reference
with the smoking of a cigarette which follows
what is on the 15 certificate criteria.
Drugs
These scenes show the use of violence and
threat of the blood and the use of a weapon.
This follows what is on the 15 certificate
criteria.
