Concert Observation
I enjoyed a Dame Myra Hess Concert at the Chicago Cultural Center, held in the Preston Bradley Hall. It featured Brannon Cho and Victor Asuncion as
the performers on November 16th in the afternoon. It showed a variety of compositions that kept me mesmerized throughout the show. The instruments
they played were the cello and the piano. I chose this concert because it was convenient, location wise and it fitted well into my schedule. The only
other concert I can relate it to was at church, it was a visit by a choir from Moody Church.
Two of the compositions that attracted my attention were the seven variations on Bei Männern, welche Liebe fühlen and Arpeggione Sonata, Allegro
moderato. The performers were in sync almost perfectly and had unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He completed several symphonies, operas and piano music. This composition was a Sonata form, which was part of the four movements. This was also
played with a small ensemble (duet)While a more accurate term is also used to refer to the period from 1750 to 1820, this article is about the broad span
of time from roughly the 11th century to the present day, which includes the Classical period and various other periods. The central norms of this
tradition became codified between 1550 and 1900, which is known as the common practice period. The major time divisions of Western art music are as
follows: the early music period, which includes the Medieval and the Renaissance eras; the Common practice period, which includes the Baroque,
Classical, and Romantic eras ; and the 20th century which includes the modern that overlaps from the late 19th¬century, the high modern, and
contemporary or postmodern eras. Another difference is that whereas most popular styles adopt the song form, classical music has been noted for its
development of highly sophisticated forms of instrumental music such as the concerto, symphony, sonata, and mixed vocal and instrumental styles such
as opera which, since they are written down, can sustain larger forms and attain a high level of complexity. The term "classical music" appeared during
the 19th century, in an attempt to distinctly canonize the period from Johann Sebastian Bach to Beethoven as a golden age. The earliest reference to
"classical music" recorded by the

On December 2nd, 2017, I attended a concert performed by the Diablo Valley College Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert, performed at the Diablo
Valley College Performing Arts Center, was called A Classical British Invasion and it featured pieces that were either written by British people or were
inspired by them. Since I have only listened to professional orchestras for previous concert reports, I decided to attend a college orchestra, hoping to see
the differences between a professional orchestra and a more casual one. The first piece performed in this concert was Norfolk Scenic Overture
composed by Kenneth Ian Hytch. The piece started loudly and dramatically and it ended in a similar fashion. A quick rhythm carried on throughout the
piece. The piece was mostly polyphonic, with the woodwinds, the strings, and the brasses playing different melodies. There were a lot of things that the
orchestra can improve on. First of all, the orchestra was rushing in several places dragging in other places. Another problem was the balance between
instruments. When the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Allegretto, composed by Sir Karl Jenkins. Having played this piece in my freshman year, I was really excited to hear how the orchestra would express
this piece. This piece only consists of string instruments, and the violins played the melody while the rest of the orchestra played 8th or 16th notes to
accompany it through most of this piece. The tempo of this piece is slower than the first one, and it has a intense and scary feel until the end, where it
gets faster and louder. There were a few noticeable problems in this piece. For example, the violins were rushing the 16th notes. The cellos had some
intonation problems and so did the violins. The orchestra did not end together, as a few people played the last note a bit too long. Nevertheless, the
balance was good and the crescendo was decent towards the end, which really brought out the intense feel of the

On Friday night, November 13, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. I attended the Manhattan School of Music for the Jazz Orchestra that performed by Jazz vocalists and
MSM alumni Jane Monheit and many other musicians. That place is unlikely the ordinary place, people have appropriate dress on and have nicely
etiquette toward the performers, unlike me, many of audiences seem like that they come to this concert with certain knowledge of Jazz orchestra. And
its musical venue was the ideal spot for the concert, so I sat in a decent spot spot that located at midst of the concert hall where I can view all the
performers and hear performers' music clearly. And the conductor informally began the show was quite nicely and politely which made me feel really

The instruments in the first gathering included bass, drums, conga, trumpet, alto saxophone, shaker and vibraslap. They performed two quick tempo
melodies for drums and percussion, and every instrumentalist was given the chance to hold a performance. All through the execution of the first
gathering, the bass player was absence of innovativeness and specialized abilities that should have been be cleaned; his spontaneous creation was a
progression of specific scales that were dull and basic. Then again, he was extremely rhythmical and had decent state of mind toward the group of
onlookers, coordinating great with drums and knew how to connect with the gathering of people. Particularly, the alto saxophone player was not the
same as different instrumentalists, since his tones were more vividly communicated than some other payers. His act of spontaneity was confounded and
inventive too. His pitch and rhythms were exact. Notwithstanding that, he executed as harmony with trumpet player in a brief moment performing
melody, where he demonstrated a decent feeling of flow. In general, despite the fact that every part of the orchestra possessed the differential musical
skill, but they coordinated with each other quite

On May 13, 2016, the Vocal Jazz Ensembles at Sacramento State University had their one of the last concerts before the semester ended, which was
directed by our professor Gaw Vang Williams. This concert was performed by four groups and different solo, which was completely different
experience from the first two concerts that I attended at Sac State. In this Vocal Jazz concert, there was packed and a lot of audiences who were friends,
family and students come to support and enjoy before this semester ended. Overall, this was a good show and I found that Vocal Jazz was much more
fun and enjoyable than the first two. In this concert, I enjoyed every pieces of performance and there were three pieces that caught my attention, which

that the groups brought out. In this pieces, it didn't look like they were performing but they really played and enjoyed what they were doing, which also
influence the audiences' moods. Even though Maggie Niscasio the one who sang this song was really tired, but they seemed brought me and audiences a
relaxed moment and an enjoyable atmosphere. Also, the song "Singing in the Rain" was another piece that was played by C–Sus Voices, which mixed
with Rhianna's Umbrella. This performance gave me different feelings by combining two songs as one. By singing these two songs together in the Jazz
style, C–Sus Voices seemed performing a new song c and matching perfectly between the Rain with the Umbrella. Also in this performance, I loved the
way they played the songs and the atmosphere. Overall, I felt really relaxed and I enjoyed the performance played by C–Sus

African-Caribbean Concert Report
Last week, I went to an African–Caribbean Concert located in Lee Hall Auditorium at Florida A&M University. There were so many great
performances starting with little girls dancing to African music and ending with people dancing to the beat of drums. There was a total of ten
performances at the concert and I liked that there was a variety of ways to showcase the talents. Instead of only dancing, there was poetry, and singing.
Out of the ten performances, there were three that really had my attention throughout the whole performance. These three performances were

On March 28th, 2017, I went to Fred Hersch Trio concert with special guest, Anat Cohen. This concert was performed at Schwab auditorium, where I
have never been before. All I went to watch the concert was at Eisenhower auditorium. Since it was my first time to Schwab auditorium, I was pretty
excited to experience the new atmosphere of the place I have never been to. The concert started with a trio; pianist, bassist and drummer. I was not able
to take notes since I did not bring any pens or pencils and paper with me to write it down, and I did not want to disturb other people with the light of my
phone, so I decided to fully enjoy the music first. Interestingly, I could not find any list of songs they were gonna play. I wish there were list of songs in

The most improvisations I heard from was clarinetist, Anat Cohen, especially when she was interacting with the pianist, Fred Hersch. After the trio of
the pianist, bassist, and the drummer, she came out as a special guest and interacted with the pianist. It was very impressive how they were playing their
instruments as if they were having a conversation; sometimes they would respond to each other's sound, and sometimes they were talking at the same
time. Since it was only two of them playing the instruments, I think it was easier for them to improvise since it is easier to do so than there are four

Dance of the Tumblers is from an opera that is The Snow Maiden. The opera is built in 1952. I do not know they are similar with each other or not,
because I did not see the opera before. This music is intense. It is 2/4 time. There are 2 beats per measure and the quarter note gets one beat. The main
melody is based on the violin and violoncello. Let the entire opening sounds full of strength. Before this track has always been a minute part of A and B
played alternately. Part A is a powerful ensemble sounds. The melody of Part B sounds of some relatively gentle. In general, this music makes me feel
positive. Danzón No.2 originated in 1993. It is Mexico classic style music. It begins so warm. And then change from violin to be exciting. It makes me

Descriptive Essay About Concert
Over the last four years, I've gone to over thirty concerts for artists whose genres range from pop, rap, and alternative. Since I'm experienced with them,
I'm aware of the different price ranges and the stage performances. After my first concert, I started working so that I could afford to have concerts as a
hobby. Even though I have gone to many different types of concerts, like pop, rap, and alternative, my favorite kind to experience are alternative
concerts.
My first concert was also my first time seeing a pop band. Every teenager loved One Direction, including me, and dreamed of seeing them live one day.
This experience meant a lot to me since it was a band that I had loved for a very long time. The tickets were a gift from my mother, Melissa, and I went
with my sister, Melisvette. During that, I realized how happy concerts made me and got a job so that I could continue experiencing moments like these.
What I didn't want to experience, though, was the price it was to go to pop concerts.
I wasn't worried about the price of tickets until I started paying for them myself. As a kid, I didn't contemplate the cost since my mother bought them as
a present, but then I started to realize how ludicrous the prices could be. At the time, I was really into popular bands and artist, so the concerts were
always expensive. I bought tickets to see popular artists like Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony, and Twenty One Pilots, twice. These were the ones I spent
the most money on and the seating was just not worth it.
In 2014, I traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, to go to a Demi Lovato concert. This was the second pop concert I've been to and the first time I traveled a few
hours for a concert. At the time, I was still new to concerts, but I started to see a theme with pop concerts. They were always the most expensive
compared to others and the seats were never that great. For Demi, I spent over $150 to sit in a seat that wasn't even close to her. Even though her
concert meant a lot to me, because I looked up to Demi Lovato, I just found it unfair how expensive these kinds of concerts were. Compared to other
concerts I've been to; the popular artists were always the ones to put the least amount of effort into their performances. Their

The Importance Of A Classical Music Concert
An integral part of learning an instrument is watching and listening to professionals. We have the opportunity to hear several guitar concerts each
semester.
If you've never attended a classical music concert before, you might feel uncomfortable with the idea of it. This is perfectly normal and is not specific to
classical music. I'm sure you can imagine how out of place one might feel attending a Phish concert if one wasn't accustomed to the culture that goes
along with that music. The same can be said for all genres of music.
The main thing to remember when attending these concerts is that the focus is on the sound of the music. There are no fancy lights, dancers, or singers;
all you will see is someone sitting on a chair playing guitar. Aside from some pretty funky facial expressions, there is not a heavy visual element to
classical guitar concerts. Furthermore, the sound of the guitar is very delicate. This means that the audience has to be even quieter than they would be at
an orchestral or wind ensemble concert. You should behave in a way that allows your complete attention to be on the performer and does not distract
your fellow audience members.
When you focus on the sound of the music, you may be surprised at what the guitar is capable of. The following is a list of some things you can listen
for.
Loudness and softness
Changes and transformations
Repeated sections of music
Different speeds
Different guitar sounds

Concert Report
The concert that I attended was a charity concert, which was organized in Boston at a local university there. The South Asian Student Union of Harvard
University organized the concert. I happened to be in Boston and this particular concert was organized for benefit causes such as using the proceeds of
the concert to fund a number of poverty alleviation projects in South Asia. The concert was organized in a rather big room, which had a very big
podium, as well as at least 500 seats that had been placed in it. Therefore, the overall hall where this concert took place was a typical auditorium setting
with seating and a stage at the front. The concert promoters talked about different cause benefits related to alleviation of poverty in South Asia and
that's why the concert was organized. The organizers also informed the audience that the musicians wore traditional clothing so that the audience
members could also have a good insight and understanding of the South Asian culture. All of ticket revenues for this concert were then given to a
number of charities which then would use those funds to assist the different poverty alleviation programs in the larger South Asian region. ... Show

types of musical instruments that was used in these songs was called the "Sitar". I wasn't very sure about what this type of an instrument is but when I

I have always loved to go to jazz concert and I thought it was a great idea and experience that we get to hear other music and see the effect that music

the artist which made me feel mature and accepted into the music world. Before I sat and let the concert start I got to see the instrument that was there

Another thing I appreciate from the concert is the transition from the different tome of song and the different sounding they would create also. The rich
legacy of traditional Afro–Haitian rhythms and melodies, and blends them with the instrumentation, melodic/harmonic sensibilities and improvisation
of modern jazz. I could not really explain the lyric and the song being played because it is not what I usually hear but know the language, the main
point of the songs that was being play were about love, inner soul, and tribute to our country and culture Haiti and many others as well. The history in
this concert brought my attention to something quite similar that is called Rara. Rara is the music played throughout Kanaval, an anarchic folk–meets–
punk collision of drums, voices and bamboo sticks which all creates an exciting, energizing soundtrack to Kanaval in Haiti. Rara bands tour the
countryside for days at a time accosting people, car drivers and anyone in their way, demanding payment before they move on and the crowd of
musicians and singers gets bigger all the time. I remember seeing this event that happened every year when

Descriptive Essay On A Live Concert
About a year ago, my father, my sister, and I, went to go attend a live concert because I had never viewed one before. Although, both my sister, and
father had seen many concerts before me (thank you my beloved family for leaving me alone with no form of entertainment, every time you left for a
concert). We planned to see the band Blink182, one of my family's favorite punk rock bands, in Maine. There are three main parts to this wonderful
journey, it begins with the drive, then the actual concert, and finally the drive back, which were all equally entertaining (in my opinion). It was an
outdoor concert, but I would have preferred an indoor concert because functioning bathrooms are really important to me, but I did not complain. My
sister and I anticipated the day we would leave to see the wonderful Maine we had heard so much about from our father. All we had to do, was wait.
The day arrived sooner than expected, and my father booked us a flight to Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to our departure, I had always thought that
Boston was located in Maine (I do not know anything about geography), but I soon learned it was not, thanks to my father, and sister constantly making
fun of my poor geography skills. We then left on September 3rd, for an airport in Boston. My father had to drive us the rest of the way up to Maine,
from the airport (and boy, was that an adventure). We took a detour on the way up, and stopped at a recommended place from my father, called

Sjdanceco's Dance Concert Report
As a beginner dancer at MHS, it is really important to go to dance concerts because it will help us improve our dancing. The concert I went to was

the other hand this concert has occurred on 4/23/2017, which is on a sunday. There were approximately 88 – 91 performance groups that had gathered
and performed on this special day. This was SJDanceco's 15th anniversary, so this could be a reason why there were so many groups. Even though there
were too many choreographers to name, all of their choreographies were all amazing. Their choreos showed us how much work and effort they put in,

Music has been around for centuries and has taken many, unique forms over the past hundreds of years. Every culture, big or small, has their own

The first family of instruments was the percussion section. This family caught my attention because I used to play percussion in high school. They also
caught my attention because this family emphasizes and sets the rhythm of the piece. I really enjoyed the xylophone instrument during this concert
because the xylophone brought out the melodies in each piece. Another family of instruments that caught my attention was the low brass section. I
enjoyed this when the intense moment of a song came on because the low brass instruments emphasized the dark moments of the intense sections of
each song. This emphasis brought out strong emotions out of me towards the songs. There were 5 guest conductors during this concert, but each one
had their unique style of conducting their songs. All five conductors wore tuxedos with a white bowtie. When the conductor approached his podium, the
band was stomping their feet to applaud him. He approached his podium and bowed to everyone. These conductors pointed at a certain family of
instruments during a part of a song to emphasize those instruments to play louder, or softer. The conductors also raised their hands when they wanted
the band to perform a louder dynamic change, or lower their hands when they wanted the band to perform a quitter dynamic change. I was really

Since this was a Christian rock concert I can easily agree that many of the characteristics of rock and roll music which are discussed in the text book
were definitely prominent in this concert. First, was the use of the drums, each of the different bands had a designated drummer who was the only
drummer throughout the entire performance. It was kind of interesting however, because in most performances you don't usually see the drummer sing
but when watching the band Wolves at the Gate their drummer sang a small part in one of their songs. Next is the very heavy use of the bass, while I
through enjoyed the concert, the bass was incredible and I definitely left the concert with a headache, but it was well worth it. With the heavy use of the
bass, I felt like I wasn't just listening to music but the bass was so strong you could really feel it too. In bits and pieces of different songs some band
members also used a keyboard. Of course, with this being a rock concert there were electric guitars which seemed like it was the main instrument being
used. There were also plenty of vocals, though the "singing" seemed more like yelling to me, I enjoyed the instrumentation much more than the vocal
parts. I really enjoyed the super repetitive yet very catchy riffs that were being played within the music. Some songs even had some really nice

Dr. Jeff W Reynolds
Last Thursday, I attended the Department of Music Concert Series at the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center. I was able to listen to both the
Symphony Band, under the direction of Dr. Cara Morantz as well as the Wind Symphony Band directed by Dr. Sean Murray. They presented a
tremendous performance comprised of pieces by J.B. Chance, Frank Ticheli, Samuel Hazo as well as a wide variety of other authors. The event was
pleasurable to me, as well as many others in attendance to the concert. By the looks, colleagues families and teachers came to support the talented
musicians on stage that night!
The concert opened with Fanfare and Flourishes (1995) by James Curnow. The piece was based on Marc–Antoine Charpentier's polyphonic motet, "Te
Deum". Inspired by "a festive occasion" you can hear a large sound of power, incorporating the trumpets excellent call to action, making this
exhilarating work a perfect concert opener for the evening.
The next piece played was Incantation and Dance (1963) by James Barnes (J.B.) Chance. I was already familiar with this form of music since I played
it at the Music for All National Concert Band festival with my high school's band. The song starts low, flutes come in in the low register of their
instrument and set the audience up for a mysterious incantation–– or magic spell. While the opening starts slow and spookily, and percussion
instruments are incorporated, you're driven by multiple rhythmic patterns which require much complexity.
Frank Ticheli is a pretty well known American composer of orchestral, choral, chamber, and concert band works. This night they performed his
rendition of slave ship captains, John Newton's "Amazing Grace". After seeing divine grace for all his wrongdoing, he wrote this, which has come to be
a loved spiritual within American literature. As the woodwinds carry certain parts of the melody, tears began to form. In the words of Ticheli, he wants
to "reflect the powerful simplicity of the word and melody... the harmony, texture, orchestration, and form are inseparable, intertwined so as to be
perceived as a single expressive entity." To conclude the

Young American, Arabesque, and the Suite No. 2 in F major, op. 28 no. 2G March, Song without words: I'll love my life, Song of the Blacksmith, &
Fantasia on the Daragason. A similarity that I noticed was that majority of the songs that played were in the major key by the Conservatory Wind
Ensemble as none of them sounded 'sad.' All the songs except for the "Jugemu" Capriccio for Wind Ensemble had a sharp tone and majority of the
songs that were played in the homophonic texture, with the exception being Mississippi River (American march version) which seemed to be
Polyphonic. The duration of each song was around two to three minutes with the last song on the program Suite No. 2 in F major, op. 28 no. 2G March,

I want peace and culture that I feel through ballet and opera but still need high energy of dance events and louder type music. I feel lucky to live in the

A live event brings out my sense of adventure. You NEVER know what will happen, who will show up and where an event will take you emotionally.
That is also what I get out of live theatre too! Also, you never know what will go wrong. It reinforces the fact that the show must go on (and it does) and
that you should not be afraid of live as a performer. I would enjoy attending more live performances or entertainment as a consumer, but my schedule
does not always allow it between work, rehearsal or my own performances. Josh

Kutztown Concert Report
The concert that I attended was on November 14th, 2017, on a Tuesday night. Those that were performing were the Chamber Ensemble of Kutztown
University. The Concert began at 7:30 p.m., and concluded at 8:30 p.m. When the concert was just beginning I was unsure of what to expect, besides
the obviousness of a piano portion to the whole event, because there was one sitting in the center of the stage. The concert that I attended seemed to
focus primarily on the romantic period of music. Though it may have gone into a different genre at some point it wasn't that noticeable to me. The first
work performed for the audience was done so with a violin, a piano, and a woman singing. It seemed to me that this was one work with a very slow,
somber tone. The woman piano and the violin worked extremely well together to compliment the woman's singing voice. While this one I think was the
shortest movement as well as the calmest in tone, I don't think that necessarily equates to anything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keeping a more upbeat tone, as well as catching my attention more often than the other one. Which comes down to a more personal preference in terms
of what I tend to be more interested in. This movement was done with a cello, violin, and a piano. It also seemed to be the loudest as well as one of the
faster–paced ones.
My personal favorite movement of them all was the second one performed on stage. This one was also a more upbeat movement. This uniquely
enjoyable work involved two on piano, one to turn the pages. It also included a trombone, as well as someone on the flute. The movement itself seemed
to go for more of an uplifting tone, as opposed to the more somber quality that the first work had going for it. Something else I noticed was that it was
one of the larger movements, and had more moving parts to keep everything flowing appropriately. The fact that it was larger worked in favor of the

The faint sound of music slowly becomes clearer approaching the stadium. The sound of exciting screams and singing lingers in the air. It is every
millennial teenage girl's fantasy: a One Direction concert. A concert can be entertaining and exhilarating because one gets to see a favorite artist and

for, the artist coming onto the stage. Hearts begin to race as the music builds each fleeting second before the artist comes out. Smoke fills the dark stage

I felt overwhelmed with so many emotions, my heart was beating with every beat of the music. Smoke started to cover the stage and four boys emerged
from the fog. I sound crazy saying this, but I do not think I have ever been more overwhelmed in my life. Screams, crying, and singing are all echoing
around me as if I am completely still while everything is quickly moving around me. I could taste the cigarette smoke in my mouth from the woman
behind me. The concert was filled with so much laughter, singing, and crying. I even made friends with a girl beside me with a green bandana, long
blonde hair and bright blue eyes. As the lights faded, the boys left the stage and the stadium became quiet, however all at once, again everyone was
talking and crying as they left the packed stadium into the chilly night. Concerts contain so many sensations. The white chairs being put away, the stage
getting placed back on the big black trailer piece by piece, and the quiet shuffles of the last feet leave the stadium; the stadium transforms into the
purple and white stadium it once was, leaving no trace of the concert ever being there. A concert can entertaining and exhilarating because one gets to

Young People Concert Essay
Concerts are music performances in front of a live audience. Concerts usually are performed by an orchestra, band, or choral ensemble. The concert
discussed for the purpose of this paper is the Young People's Concerts under the musical direction of Leonard Bernstein. The performance in the Young
People's Concert is performed in front of a crowd of younger people to learn. The concert is performed at the New York Philharmonic, in New York.
This paper reviews the concert, providing a description of the program, analysis of the purpose of the program and how it was organized. The concert
performed includes the composition titled The Planets by British composer, Gustav Holst. The Planets is a set of 7 musical movements named after the
planets in the solar system being called in order Mars "The Bringer of War" Venus "The Bringer of Peace" Mercury "The Winged Messenger" Jupiter
"The Bringer of Jollity" Saturn "The Bringer of Old Age" Uranus "The Magician" Neptune "The Mystic". ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before each section is performed the director, Leonard Bernstein, gives brief information about the piece. Bernstein first explains what piece is going to
be performed, a brief education of the title, why the original composer, Holt, chose it, and the instruments that are used in each section. This gives the
young listener a chance to take in information about what they about to hear. For instance, Mars, which Leonard Bernstein describes as musical
entertainment, is performed using the flute, oboe, and the organ among others. This creates a very lurid and eerie sound. The concert uses six horns
instead of the normal four, and a whole raft of percussion. The third and fourth sections, Mercury, and Jupiter, are performed together without an
interruption. Mercury is written with two keys and rhythms all at once. This creates a double–dealing

Concert Review: Hoag Concert
On October 28, 2015 I went to the wind ensemble concert in the Hoag auditorium. It was a full house and the ensemble was fairly large. The set up was
nice; the lighting and speakers were set in a way that would not interfere with the audience's view of the band, and the stage fit the band perfectly. I
don't really have anything else positive to say about the concert; this concert was not as good as I was expecting and all I noticed were negatives about
the performance.
At first when they were on stage they were warming up and I feel like that should have been done before the concert started. I was confused at whether
their first piece was just a warm up or an actual piece because it was never introduced as one. It had a lot of pauses in it so I was unsure whether it was
some type of practice or if the piece just has pauses. I wish they had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One thing that really bothered me about this piece is that the first chair clarinet player was tapping his foot at one tempo, the bass clarinet player right
behind him was tapping his foot at another tempo, and the conductor was at a different pace than the both of them. The conductor did mention it was
the newest piece they had worked on but I feel like it needed more practice. Throughout the piece the conductor had to remind the band that they were
supposed to be quieter than what they were playing, overall this piece needed more practice.
The third piece was "Incantation and Dance" by John Barnes Chance. The only thing I remember from this piece is a percussion instrument that
sounded kind of like rain drops to me. It felt a little out of place from the rest of the song but it still worked. After the third piece is the first time anyone
introduced any of the pieces being played that night. The conductor went back and told us the names of the first, second and third pieces long after they
were performed. I thought that was a bit inconvenient and out of

Grateful Dead Concert Essay
For concert essay 2, I have went with an online concert. I have chosen the concert at Alpine Valley, where the Grateful Dead performed July 7, 1989.
This is a historic venue for the Grateful Dead and the Deadheads, because this was an atmosphere that always seemed to be far more electric than most.
Although the Grateful Dead was a great live act throughout the entire existence of the band, many of the band members admit during the 89 & 90 tours,
they were at their best. To open the concert, the band members claim the stage to a roaring crowd, particularly focused upon Jerry Garcia. With very
little preparation time, the band jumped right into their first song, without hesitation. This stood out to me because all of the concerts I have seen live,
they'll spend quite some time tuning, and chatting up the crowd. This crowd sure did not need the pep talk, because of the virve already presented by the
crowd. The opening song was "Let the Good Times Roll." With this song as an opening and a more prominent Grateful Dead hit, the aura of the concert
had already been set. Each singer of the band had their own verse in this song, to really get the crowd engaged with each member. A very distinguishing
piece of the Grateful Dead was that they had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, they had a tremendous ability to set a change of pace, with country, rock, and roll. My personal favorite performances include those songs
categorized as a rock ballad, with the stage lights low, and the band gently playing songs such as "Standing on the Moon." This song depicts a man
standing upon the moon, gazing upon unfolding events on Earth, longing to return to his lover and home. Within this song, The Grateful Dead pay
homage to their roots, including a line "Somewhere in San Francisco, on a back porch in July." After this verse, Jerry Garcia erupts into a phenomenal
guitar solo, as the lights fade to

Chorus Spring Concert Report
For one of the two concerts that I attended this semester, I went to the Women's Chorus spring concert, which took place in the Rudder theatre.
Although there weren't as many people attending the event as I had originally thought, there were still quite a few people at the event. This concert was
mainly for the presentation of alumni, parents, and to help raise money for the chorus' planned trip to Italy where they would do casual performances in
some chapels.
One thing that really surprised me about this concert was how informal the event really was. In the audience there was a wide range of attire, from
gyms shorts and a t–shirt, to suits and ties. However, the majority of the people were in semi–formal or not completely informal attire, ... Show more

One thing that was interesting to me about this concert was the order which the songs were performed. Typically when I attend concerts the fun and
lighthearted songs are toward the end as a sort of "reliever" from the seriousness. In contrast, this concert had the lightheartedness mixed in with the
more serious or slower songs to keep the audience's attention. For example, to start the concert there were two traditional songs that were performed,
Jubilate Deo and Alleluia. These songs have many different arrangements using essentially the same word but with a different notes and rhythms and
are mainly meant as "beauty songs" to show off the talent of the singers in areas such as tuning or tone. Both of those songs could be taxing to those
who don't regularly attend these types of concerts, so the chorus added in the song "The Battle of Jericho" which was a complete "one–eighty" from the
style of the first two songs, grabbing the attention of people who somehow already lost interest. This pattern continued until intermission when the
audience was allowed to talk to the performers and other audience members. In general, the order which the concert was put together was, I believe,
intended to keep the audience's attention, rather than just expecting the audience to listen because they're

Never have I ever attended a performance like this without my parents dragging me against my will. The only other time I have ever attended a concert
of this nature is when my parents force my sister and I to go to the local opera house every year on Memorial Day to honor our troops and watch a
couple boy scouts earn the title of eagle scout. Honestly, because I have only been to these types of concerts against my will, I did not know what to
expect. I was extremely stressed out about what was appropriate to wear and how early I should show up, without my mother's time schedule, I was
more than just figuratively lost. I did not pick this concert because I was interested, I simply picked a concert that I could attend without any conflicts to

everyone had to turn around to see them and I found that a little odd. This piece sounded like a typical fanfare with multiple sharp notes, good end
cadences, and a duple meter. I personally thought the song was very fast, but other than that it was satisfactory, the piece is not my new favorite thing,

downside to this was I had a basketball game right before the concert. As a result, I missed most of the opening performers. However, this concert was
still the best I have ever attended. The acts I missed were the boy band, Why Don't We and "Girl Meets World" star Sabrina Carpenter singing two of
her songs.
On the way into the concert, there was a vendor selling t–shirts, after bargaining, we bought the shirts for only $10. We quickly paid for them and ran
into the stadium. Luckily, I made it just in time for the last opening act, Max Schneider. Additional performers of the night included: Camila Cabello,
Charlie Puth, Kelly Clarkson, Halsey, Fifth Harmony, and lastly Fall Out Boy. Each sang two to four songs. This concert was a nine act, 3 1/2 hour
show.
The arena was packed with fans all different ages, all with pulsing energy. People wore festive outfits and most were in the holiday spirit. I attended the

No Bruce Springsteen Or Billy Joel Concert
The moment I stepped foot into the doorway, I knew that the night would not turn out the way I had expected. I was stunned in fear by the way people
looked: tattoos, piercings, and hoodies was clearly the norm at the scene. The room was dark, and I felt the stuffy air choke me up. First impressions are
everything, and this one was unlike any other; I was somewhat scared and uneasy. This is how I felt the night my friends introduced a new idea to go to
a metal concert for the first time. This was no Bruce Springsteen or Billy Joel concert; it was a new entity that was explicitly more fierce and
threatening that I have ever imagined. Metal concerts are dangerous and unappealing places where people fight, get hurt, and are reckless with their
behavior; attending these concerts have demonstrated how revoking the people and venue can be, and have changed my views on them and music
forever.
I heard a tap on the microphone, a loud squeal, and there I realized that this music was not meant for me. I am used to a nice soothing type of music: a
good rhythm, with calming lyrics. This was the complete opposite. The lead singer was screaming these inaudible words into the microphone as he
banged his head in a way that almost looked painful. The instruments were played recklessly with a force that was incredible: the drummer slammed the
bass, guitarists shredded the chords, and everyone else yelled the lyrics. For a moment I was just still, confused, and stunned by what I was seeing in

They also provided small improvised solos for some of the students, with of course the saxophone being the main one. Although, I believe the person
playing the bass lacked something. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it felt like something was off with his playing. I'm thinking it was more issues
with technical skills or maybe just a problem with sound. His improv skills could have used a little bit more polishing, but he did used a couple of
different, simple scales repetitively. The group as a whole had great rhythm and appealing attitudes towards us, the audience. The audience then
reflected that same attitude back to the performers. That made it a lot easier to analyze this performance in comparison to others I've been to. I
particularity enjoyed the saxophone player's solos. Something about the tone of it seemed more expressive than the other instruments. Those solos were

Most of the songs that were performed in the chamber concert on October 20th 2016, were more contextual and emotional approach. With the measures

did not understand the reason behind it until I started to hear part of the audience say it was genius by the simplicity and the rhythm that created humor.
I realized that music is not just on the structure that is well developed and can also show a story or has meaning behind it.
Clock Smasher composed by Alexander Elliott Miller and Touch Composed by Michael Laurello were a fast paced combination of hard bangs on the

constantly practicing the song "Harriet Tubman"). My favorites were 'Ndikhokhele Bawo,', Harriet Tubman, and the 'I Know It's Today' (that song had
me howling; it was priceless), 'Bottom of the River," and 'I Can Tell the World." Southern BelleTones were likely my favorite group, as their voices

Concert Observation

  • 1. Concert Observation I enjoyed a Dame Myra Hess Concert at the Chicago Cultural Center, held in the Preston Bradley Hall. It featured Brannon Cho and Victor Asuncion as the performers on November 16th in the afternoon. It showed a variety of compositions that kept me mesmerized throughout the show. The instruments they played were the cello and the piano. I chose this concert because it was convenient, location wise and it fitted well into my schedule. The only other concert I can relate it to was at church, it was a visit by a choir from Moody Church. Two of the compositions that attracted my attention were the seven variations on Bei Männern, welche Liebe fühlen and Arpeggione Sonata, Allegro moderato. The performers were in sync almost perfectly and had unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He completed several symphonies, operas and piano music. This composition was a Sonata form, which was part of the four movements. This was also played with a small ensemble (duet)While a more accurate term is also used to refer to the period from 1750 to 1820, this article is about the broad span of time from roughly the 11th century to the present day, which includes the Classical period and various other periods. The central norms of this tradition became codified between 1550 and 1900, which is known as the common practice period. The major time divisions of Western art music are as follows: the early music period, which includes the Medieval and the Renaissance eras; the Common practice period, which includes the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras ; and the 20th century which includes the modern that overlaps from the late 19th¬century, the high modern, and contemporary or postmodern eras. Another difference is that whereas most popular styles adopt the song form, classical music has been noted for its development of highly sophisticated forms of instrumental music such as the concerto, symphony, sonata, and mixed vocal and instrumental styles such as opera which, since they are written down, can sustain larger forms and attain a high level of complexity. The term "classical music" appeared during the 19th century, in an attempt to distinctly canonize the period from Johann Sebastian Bach to Beethoven as a golden age. The earliest reference to "classical music" recorded by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Orchestra Concert Report Sample On December 2nd, 2017, I attended a concert performed by the Diablo Valley College Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert, performed at the Diablo Valley College Performing Arts Center, was called A Classical British Invasion and it featured pieces that were either written by British people or were inspired by them. Since I have only listened to professional orchestras for previous concert reports, I decided to attend a college orchestra, hoping to see the differences between a professional orchestra and a more casual one. The first piece performed in this concert was Norfolk Scenic Overture composed by Kenneth Ian Hytch. The piece started loudly and dramatically and it ended in a similar fashion. A quick rhythm carried on throughout the piece. The piece was mostly polyphonic, with the woodwinds, the strings, and the brasses playing different melodies. There were a lot of things that the orchestra can improve on. First of all, the orchestra was rushing in several places dragging in other places. Another problem was the balance between instruments. When the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Allegretto, composed by Sir Karl Jenkins. Having played this piece in my freshman year, I was really excited to hear how the orchestra would express this piece. This piece only consists of string instruments, and the violins played the melody while the rest of the orchestra played 8th or 16th notes to accompany it through most of this piece. The tempo of this piece is slower than the first one, and it has a intense and scary feel until the end, where it gets faster and louder. There were a few noticeable problems in this piece. For example, the violins were rushing the 16th notes. The cellos had some intonation problems and so did the violins. The orchestra did not end together, as a few people played the last note a bit too long. Nevertheless, the balance was good and the crescendo was decent towards the end, which really brought out the intense feel of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Jazz Concert Essay On Friday night, November 13, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. I attended the Manhattan School of Music for the Jazz Orchestra that performed by Jazz vocalists and MSM alumni Jane Monheit and many other musicians. That place is unlikely the ordinary place, people have appropriate dress on and have nicely etiquette toward the performers, unlike me, many of audiences seem like that they come to this concert with certain knowledge of Jazz orchestra. And its musical venue was the ideal spot for the concert, so I sat in a decent spot spot that located at midst of the concert hall where I can view all the performers and hear performers' music clearly. And the conductor informally began the show was quite nicely and politely which made me feel really comfortable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The instruments in the first gathering included bass, drums, conga, trumpet, alto saxophone, shaker and vibraslap. They performed two quick tempo melodies for drums and percussion, and every instrumentalist was given the chance to hold a performance. All through the execution of the first gathering, the bass player was absence of innovativeness and specialized abilities that should have been be cleaned; his spontaneous creation was a progression of specific scales that were dull and basic. Then again, he was extremely rhythmical and had decent state of mind toward the group of onlookers, coordinating great with drums and knew how to connect with the gathering of people. Particularly, the alto saxophone player was not the same as different instrumentalists, since his tones were more vividly communicated than some other payers. His act of spontaneity was confounded and inventive too. His pitch and rhythms were exact. Notwithstanding that, he executed as harmony with trumpet player in a brief moment performing melody, where he demonstrated a decent feeling of flow. In general, despite the fact that every part of the orchestra possessed the differential musical skill, but they coordinated with each other quite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Jazz Concert Critique On May 13, 2016, the Vocal Jazz Ensembles at Sacramento State University had their one of the last concerts before the semester ended, which was directed by our professor Gaw Vang Williams. This concert was performed by four groups and different solo, which was completely different experience from the first two concerts that I attended at Sac State. In this Vocal Jazz concert, there was packed and a lot of audiences who were friends, family and students come to support and enjoy before this semester ended. Overall, this was a good show and I found that Vocal Jazz was much more fun and enjoyable than the first two. In this concert, I enjoyed every pieces of performance and there were three pieces that caught my attention, which were "Hold On", ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have listened to this song but I found the performance by C–Sus Voices was more fun and enjoyable. Each member played as an instrumental roles as bass, beatbox, low and high notes supports as an acapella style which without any instrument. In this performance, I love the atmosphere and the moods that the groups brought out. In this pieces, it didn't look like they were performing but they really played and enjoyed what they were doing, which also influence the audiences' moods. Even though Maggie Niscasio the one who sang this song was really tired, but they seemed brought me and audiences a relaxed moment and an enjoyable atmosphere. Also, the song "Singing in the Rain" was another piece that was played by C–Sus Voices, which mixed with Rhianna's Umbrella. This performance gave me different feelings by combining two songs as one. By singing these two songs together in the Jazz style, C–Sus Voices seemed performing a new song c and matching perfectly between the Rain with the Umbrella. Also in this performance, I loved the way they played the songs and the atmosphere. Overall, I felt really relaxed and I enjoyed the performance played by C–Sus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. African-Caribbean Concert Report Last week, I went to an African–Caribbean Concert located in Lee Hall Auditorium at Florida A&M University. There were so many great performances starting with little girls dancing to African music and ending with people dancing to the beat of drums. There was a total of ten performances at the concert and I liked that there was a variety of ways to showcase the talents. Instead of only dancing, there was poetry, and singing. Out of the ten performances, there were three that really had my attention throughout the whole performance. These three performances were Excellence Funga Alfia "Wanderlust Journey" by Excellence dance studio, the featured performance by the school of dance at Florida State University, and the song selections by Paula ... • 6. Shwab Concert Critique On March 28th, 2017, I went to Fred Hersch Trio concert with special guest, Anat Cohen. This concert was performed at Schwab auditorium, where I have never been before. All I went to watch the concert was at Eisenhower auditorium. Since it was my first time to Schwab auditorium, I was pretty excited to experience the new atmosphere of the place I have never been to. The concert started with a trio; pianist, bassist and drummer. I was not able to take notes since I did not bring any pens or pencils and paper with me to write it down, and I did not want to disturb other people with the light of my phone, so I decided to fully enjoy the music first. Interestingly, I could not find any list of songs they were gonna play. I wish there were list of songs in order to remember the songs better. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most improvisations I heard from was clarinetist, Anat Cohen, especially when she was interacting with the pianist, Fred Hersch. After the trio of the pianist, bassist, and the drummer, she came out as a special guest and interacted with the pianist. It was very impressive how they were playing their instruments as if they were having a conversation; sometimes they would respond to each other's sound, and sometimes they were talking at the same time. Since it was only two of them playing the instruments, I think it was easier for them to improvise since it is easier to do so than there are four people playing at the same ... Orchestra Concert Review I attend the concert "UA Philharmonic Orchestra" on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. The performance location is Crowder Hall, School of Music, University of Arizona. This hall has 544 seats. The concert has two programs. The first program will feature Ludwig Van Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 in C Major conducted by Matthew Spieker. I do not know they are similar with each other or not, because I did not see the opera before. This music is intense. It is 2/4 time. There are 2 beats per measure and the quarter note gets one beat. The main melody is based on the violin and violoncello. Let the entire opening sounds full of strength. Before this track has always been a minute part of A and B played alternately. Part A is a powerful ensemble sounds. The melody of Part B sounds of some relatively gentle. In general, this music makes me feel positive. Danzón No.2 originated in 1993. • 8. Descriptive Essay About Concert Over the last four years, I've gone to over thirty concerts for artists whose genres range from pop, rap, and alternative. Since I'm experienced with them, I'm aware of the different price ranges and the stage performances. After my first concert, I started working so that I could afford to have concerts as a hobby. Even though I have gone to many different types of concerts, like pop, rap, and alternative, my favorite kind to experience are alternative concerts. My first concert was also my first time seeing a pop band. Every teenager loved One Direction, including me, and dreamed of seeing them live one day. This experience meant a lot to me since it was a band that I had loved for a very long time. The tickets were a gift from my mother, Melissa, and I went with my sister, Melisvette. During that, I realized how happy concerts made me and got a job so that I could continue experiencing moments like these. What I didn't want to experience, though, was the price it was to go to pop concerts. I wasn't worried about the price of tickets until I started paying for them myself. As a kid, I didn't contemplate the cost since my mother bought them as a present, but then I started to realize how ludicrous the prices could be. At the time, I was really into popular bands and artist, so the concerts were always expensive. I bought tickets to see popular artists like Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony, and Twenty One Pilots, twice. These were the ones I spent the most money on and the seating was just not worth it. In 2014, I traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, to go to a Demi Lovato concert. This was the second pop concert I've been to and the first time I traveled a few hours for a concert. At the time, I was still new to concerts, but I started to see a theme with pop concerts. They were always the most expensive compared to others and the seats were never that great. For Demi, I spent over $150 to sit in a seat that wasn't even close to her. Even though her concert meant a lot to me, because I looked up to Demi Lovato, I just found it unfair how expensive these kinds of concerts were. Compared to other concerts I've been to; the popular artists were always the ones to put the least amount of effort into their performances. Their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Importance Of A Classical Music Concert An integral part of learning an instrument is watching and listening to professionals. We have the opportunity to hear several guitar concerts each semester. If you've never attended a classical music concert before, you might feel uncomfortable with the idea of it. This is perfectly normal and is not specific to classical music. I'm sure you can imagine how out of place one might feel attending a Phish concert if one wasn't accustomed to the culture that goes along with that music. The same can be said for all genres of music. The main thing to remember when attending these concerts is that the focus is on the sound of the music. There are no fancy lights, dancers, or singers; all you will see is someone sitting on a chair playing guitar. Aside from some pretty funky facial expressions, there is not a heavy visual element to classical guitar concerts. Furthermore, the sound of the guitar is very delicate. This means that the audience has to be even quieter than they would be at an orchestral or wind ensemble concert. You should behave in a way that allows your complete attention to be on the performer and does not distract your fellow audience members. When you focus on the sound of the music, you may be surprised at what the guitar is capable of. The following is a list of some things you can listen for. Loudness and softness Changes and transformations Repeated sections of music Different speeds Different guitar sounds Melodies Rhythms Patterns Amazing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The South Asian Student Union of Harvard University organized the concert. I happened to be in Boston and this particular concert was organized for benefit causes such as using the proceeds of the concert to fund a number of poverty alleviation projects in South Asia. The concert was organized in a rather big room, which had a very big podium, as well as at least 500 seats that had been placed in it. Therefore, the overall hall where this concert took place was a typical auditorium setting with seating and a stage at the front. The concert promoters talked about different cause benefits related to alleviation of poverty in South Asia and that's why the concert was organized. The organizers also informed the audience that the musicians wore traditional clothing so that the audience members could also have a good insight and understanding of the South Asian culture. All of ticket revenues for this concert were then given to a number of charities which then would use those funds to assist the different poverty alleviation programs in the larger South Asian region. ... The history in this concert brought my attention to something quite similar that is called Rara. Rara is the music played throughout Kanaval, an anarchic folk–meets– punk collision of drums, voices and bamboo sticks which all creates an exciting, energizing soundtrack to Kanaval in Haiti. • 12. Descriptive Essay On A Live Concert About a year ago, my father, my sister, and I, went to go attend a live concert because I had never viewed one before. Although, both my sister, and father had seen many concerts before me (thank you my beloved family for leaving me alone with no form of entertainment, every time you left for a concert). We planned to see the band Blink182, one of my family's favorite punk rock bands, in Maine. There are three main parts to this wonderful journey, it begins with the drive, then the actual concert, and finally the drive back, which were all equally entertaining (in my opinion). It was an outdoor concert, but I would have preferred an indoor concert because functioning bathrooms are really important to me, but I did not complain. My sister and I anticipated the day we would leave to see the wonderful Maine we had heard so much about from our father. All we had to do, was wait. The day arrived sooner than expected, and my father booked us a flight to Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to our departure, I had always thought that Boston was located in Maine (I do not know anything about geography), but I soon learned it was not, thanks to my father, and sister constantly making fun of my poor geography skills. We then left on September 3rd, for an airport in Boston. My father had to drive us the rest of the way up to Maine, from the airport (and boy, was that an adventure). We took a detour on the way up, and stopped at a recommended place from my father, called Newbury Comics. Being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since this was a Christian rock concert I can easily agree that many of the characteristics of rock and roll music which are discussed in the text book were definitely prominent in this concert. First, was the use of the drums, each of the different bands had a designated drummer who was the only drummer throughout the entire performance. It was kind of interesting however, because in most performances you don't usually see the drummer sing but when watching the band Wolves at the Gate their drummer sang a small part in one of their songs. Next is the very heavy use of the bass, while I through enjoyed the concert, the bass was incredible and I definitely left the concert with a headache, but it was well worth it. With the heavy use of the bass, I felt like I wasn't just listening to music but the bass was so strong you could really feel it too. In bits and pieces of different songs some band members also used a keyboard. Of course, with this being a rock concert there were electric guitars which seemed like it was the main instrument being used. Concert Report On A Concert Alexis Reeves Concert Report 1 Music Appreciation 120–2D November 11, 2017 Dr. Jeff W Reynolds Last Thursday, I attended the Department of Music Concert Series at the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center. I was able to listen to both the Symphony Band, under the direction of Dr. Cara Morantz as well as the Wind Symphony Band directed by Dr. Sean Murray. They presented a tremendous performance comprised of pieces by J.B. Chance, Frank Ticheli, Samuel Hazo as well as a wide variety of other authors. The event was pleasurable to me, as well as many others in attendance to the concert. By the looks, colleagues families and teachers came to support the talented musicians on stage that night! The concert opened with Fanfare and Flourishes (1995) by James Curnow. The piece was based on Marc–Antoine Charpentier's polyphonic motet, "Te Deum". Inspired by "a festive occasion" you can hear a large sound of power, incorporating the trumpets excellent call to action, making this exhilarating work a perfect concert opener for the evening. The next piece played was Incantation and Dance (1963) by James Barnes (J.B.) Chance. I was already familiar with this form of music since I played it at the Music for All National Concert Band festival with my high school's band. The song starts low, flutes come in in the low register of their instrument and set the audience up for a mysterious incantation–– or magic spell. While the opening starts slow and spookily, and percussion instruments are incorporated, you're driven by multiple rhythmic patterns which require much complexity. Frank Ticheli is a pretty well known American composer of orchestral, choral, chamber, and concert band works. This night they performed his rendition of slave ship captains, John Newton's "Amazing Grace". After seeing divine grace for all his wrongdoing, he wrote this, which has come to be a loved spiritual within American literature. As the woodwinds carry certain parts of the melody, tears began to form. To open the concert, the band members claim the stage to a roaring crowd, particularly focused upon Jerry Garcia. With very little preparation time, the band jumped right into their first song, without hesitation. This stood out to me because all of the concerts I have seen live, they'll spend quite some time tuning, and chatting up the crowd. This crowd sure did not need the pep talk, because of the virve already presented by the crowd. The opening song was "Let the Good Times Roll." With this song as an opening and a more prominent Grateful Dead hit, the aura of the concert had already been set. Each singer of the band had their own verse in this song, to really get the crowd engaged with each member. A very distinguishing piece of the Grateful Dead was that they had ... My personal favorite performances include those songs categorized as a rock ballad, with the stage lights low, and the band gently playing songs such as "Standing on the Moon." This song depicts a man standing upon the moon, gazing upon unfolding events on Earth, longing to return to his lover and home. Within this song, The Grateful Dead pay homage to their roots, including a line "Somewhere in San Francisco, on a back porch in July." After this verse, Jerry Garcia erupts into a phenomenal guitar solo, as the lights fade to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Chorus Spring Concert Report For one of the two concerts that I attended this semester, I went to the Women's Chorus spring concert, which took place in the Rudder theatre. Although there weren't as many people attending the event as I had originally thought, there were still quite a few people at the event. This concert was mainly for the presentation of alumni, parents, and to help raise money for the chorus' planned trip to Italy where they would do casual performances in some chapels. One thing that really surprised me about this concert was how informal the event really was. In the audience there was a wide range of attire, from gyms shorts and a t–shirt, to suits and ties. However, the majority of the people were in semi–formal or not completely informal attire, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One thing that was interesting to me about this concert was the order which the songs were performed. Typically when I attend concerts the fun and lighthearted songs are toward the end as a sort of "reliever" from the seriousness. In contrast, this concert had the lightheartedness mixed in with the more serious or slower songs to keep the audience's attention. For example, to start the concert there were two traditional songs that were performed, Jubilate Deo and Alleluia. These songs have many different arrangements using essentially the same word but with a different notes and rhythms and are mainly meant as "beauty songs" to show off the talent of the singers in areas such as tuning or tone. Both of those songs could be taxing to those who don't regularly attend these types of concerts, so the chorus added in the song "The Battle of Jericho" which was a complete "one–eighty" from the style of the first two songs, grabbing the attention of people who somehow already lost interest. This pattern continued until intermission when the audience was allowed to talk to the performers and other audience members. In general, the order which the concert was put together was, I believe, intended to keep the audience's attention, rather than just expecting the audience to listen because they're ... • 30. Concert Review: Fanfare Grandioso Never have I ever attended a performance like this without my parents dragging me against my will. The only other time I have ever attended a concert of this nature is when my parents force my sister and I to go to the local opera house every year on Memorial Day to honor our troops and watch a couple boy scouts earn the title of eagle scout. Honestly, because I have only been to these types of concerts against my will, I did not know what to expect. I was extremely stressed out about what was appropriate to wear and how early I should show up, without my mother's time schedule, I was more than just figuratively lost. I did not pick this concert because I was interested, I simply picked a concert that I could attend without any conflicts to my class and practice schedules and went for it. ... Not to sound ignorant or anything, but I did not understand why they played behind the crowd; I thought it was kind of cool and different, but everyone had to turn around to see them and I found that a little odd. This piece sounded like a typical fanfare with multiple sharp notes, good end cadences, and a duple meter. I personally thought the song was very fast, but other than that it was satisfactory, the piece is not my new favorite thing, but the piece did not make me regret my decision on showing up ... • 31. Jingle Ball Concert Sunday, December 10 was a night to remember. Kiss 108's Jingle Ball took place, at TD Garden, Boston. The opening acts began at 6 pm. The one downside to this was I had a basketball game right before the concert. As a result, I missed most of the opening performers. However, this concert was still the best I have ever attended. The acts I missed were the boy band, Why Don't We and "Girl Meets World" star Sabrina Carpenter singing two of her songs. On the way into the concert, there was a vendor selling t–shirts, after bargaining, we bought the shirts for only $10. We quickly paid for them and ran into the stadium. Luckily, I made it just in time for the last opening act, Max Schneider. Additional performers of the night included: Camila Cabello, Charlie Puth, Kelly Clarkson, Halsey, Fifth Harmony, and lastly Fall Out Boy. Each sang two to four songs. This concert was a nine act, 3 1/2 hour show. The arena was packed with fans all different ages, all with pulsing energy. People wore festive outfits and most were in the holiday spirit. I attended the concert with four of my closest friends, we had been planning the night out for months. Our seats were located in section 6, just left of the stage. We had a perfect view of the singers and couldn't have been more star–struck. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Charlie Puth got people up and dancing with "Attention", "We Don't talk Anymore", and "One Call Away". • 32. No Bruce Springsteen Or Billy Joel Concert The moment I stepped foot into the doorway, I knew that the night would not turn out the way I had expected. I was stunned in fear by the way people looked: tattoos, piercings, and hoodies was clearly the norm at the scene. The room was dark, and I felt the stuffy air choke me up. First impressions are everything, and this one was unlike any other; I was somewhat scared and uneasy. This is how I felt the night my friends introduced a new idea to go to a metal concert for the first time. This was no Bruce Springsteen or Billy Joel concert; it was a new entity that was explicitly more fierce and threatening that I have ever imagined. Metal concerts are dangerous and unappealing places where people fight, get hurt, and are reckless with their behavior; attending these concerts have demonstrated how revoking the people and venue can be, and have changed my views on them and music forever. I heard a tap on the microphone, a loud squeal, and there I realized that this music was not meant for me. I am used to a nice soothing type of music: a good rhythm, with calming lyrics. This was the complete opposite. The lead singer was screaming these inaudible words into the microphone as he banged his head in a way that almost looked painful. The instruments were played recklessly with a force that was incredible: the drummer slammed the bass, guitarists shredded the chords, and everyone else yelled the lyrics. For a moment I was just still, confused, and stunned by what I was seeing in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Music Concert Report Sample Concert Report #2 I went to the "Mark Flood: Greatest Hits" concert on May 5, 16. The performance is presented in the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston. The genre of the concert was Saxophone Quartet and I believed the music is from Contemporary Era. There was four pieces, which composed by four different composers were performed. They started by the "Walk the Walk" by Michael Daugherty, I liked the beginning piece because my mood for this piece was happy and joyful. The beat was powerful and made myself into the song. The second piece was the "Jungle" by Christian Lauba, the tone color were bright and mellow. I felt pretty excited about the dong. All the pieces have only movement, except "Saxophone Quartet No.2," which has five. There was five performers were performing. Dan Gelok, soprano saxophone; Matt Singletary, alto saxophone; Seth McAdow, tenor saxophone; Evan Withner, baritone saxophone; Blake Wilkins, percussion. There was actually a special purpose to the concert, according to CAMH, "Musiqa celebrates modern creative arts through interdisciplinary concerts that highlight modern music and its connections to literature, film, dance, art, and more" ("Concert"). I have to admit that I was not a fan of saxophone before I came to this concert. However, I liked the concert, a lot. • 34. WPU Concert Critique Musical Critique On November 9th, I attended the fall semester concert of William Penn University Department of Fine at the MTC. The WPU singers were directed by Anita Meinert and the WPU Jazz Ensemble was directed by Scott Cressley. I was mislead by the online website, it had the wrong time posted. Consequently, I arrived about a half hour into the concert. Of course I didn't know this at the time. I simply thought everyone had gotten there early so they started a bit before the time the website had posted. I was soon told by another classmate that I was in fact very late. But, what I did hear of the concert surprised me. The songs performed by the Jazz ensemble were "Time Check" arranged by Don Menza. "L'il Basie" by Mike Carubia. "Blue ... Especially, when the band was in full swing and really feeling the music. Like I said it didn't sound bad it was just loud and I was even sitting towards the back of the room. So I could only imagine how blown away literally the front row was. The set itself was simple and to the point. It was held at the Musco Technology Center also known as the MTC. The room was for a more intimate audience you could see by looking around that people were having a good time. For the most part it looked like it mostly brought out an older crowd as do most production in this town. I don't understand why more people from my generation don't go out and experience these type of things. However, I liked that it had high ceilings and the room seemed pretty filled. • 35. Jazz Concert Essay I attended one of the many Jazz concerts held here at Friends University. Somehow I always get stuck in the far back and off to the side of the concert hall and I don't get to hear the music that well .I usually get to hear the voices clearly or an earful of some of the instruments then I can't hear the other side playing. This time I finally was able to get a perfect middle seat on the floor. I had a great view of everyone and the acoustics were fabulous. Since I'm not use to going to jazz concerts in particular, I asked one of the music majors here at Friends what I should expect. They informed me that I must have the right mindset in order to fully appreciate the art of Jazz. I should be ready for anything and plenty of fun. So with that, I went in with a completely ... Although, I believe the person playing the bass lacked something. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it felt like something was off with his playing. I'm thinking it was more issues with technical skills or maybe just a problem with sound. His improv skills could have used a little bit more polishing, but he did used a couple of different, simple scales repetitively. The group as a whole had great rhythm and appealing attitudes towards us, the audience. The audience then reflected that same attitude back to the performers. That made it a lot easier to analyze this performance in comparison to others I've been to. I particularity enjoyed the saxophone player's solos. Something about the tone of it seemed more expressive than the other instruments. Those solos were definitely the most creative and had more complexity to them. This theme was kept through most of the first half of the concert. It was kind of hard to hear or at least catch things that weren't quite so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some were hard to identify because it jumped to different themes and change in rythmes. The concert dress code was more casual and normal. The performers gave their full potential to bring the music to live. There were six performers overall. They performed a duo and then performed as a whole group to bring a mixture of sound. As three grand pianos and two toy pianos were used to create suspense and bring a set of tone to their audience. As I was annoyed by the beginning of the song, all I heard was long bangs and performance of giving up, as the performers had no clue on music. Then later turned into a style of patty cake. I did not understand the reason behind it until I started to hear part of the audience say it was genius by the simplicity and the rhythm that created humor. I realized that music is not just on the structure that is well developed and can also show a story or has meaning behind it. Clock Smasher composed by Alexander Elliott Miller and Touch Composed by Michael Laurello were a fast paced combination of hard bangs on the keys. As an emotional and contextual approach for both, was one of the most shocking pieces. Although these songs were not one of my favorites, the performer's style gave this work a different ... • 38. Concert Review Papers "A Glimpse of snow and evergreen" was a concert I will never forget. In my opinion, this concert was the most high energy and energetic concert we have had (since my time here). The songs were all surrounded by the theme of holiday spirit and it gave a warm and friendly tone that I believe the audience felt too. We had a variety of songs, in cooperated dancing, and were able to have almost a full house. This will be the concert we remember for the fun times and best choreography. It took a lot of preparation to put this concert together. Acapella alone had 10 songs we were participating in. And, many of the songs in this concert were in a different language. Somehow, no matter what we are facing we always seem to pull it together during the concert. I loved the 2 soloists in 1–2 and how much courage they had to give it their all even though it was their first time being in choir. Choir 3–4 always amazes me with their rich sound. They sound so sophisticated and mature. It was also interesting to hear them perform another rendition of a song we had sang last year. Also, the middle schoolers did wonderful with their carol of the bells. In terms of our set list, I would say Gborn was our best piece. I heard the most feedback from the audience about how that song was beautiful, angelic, and just rich overall. I think we could have worked on dynamics at times but it is definitely a song that should be taken to tour. My personal favorite was "Merry Christmas Mozart" because it showed the fun side of us and gave the audience some perspective. Plus, as I looked around during that song I saw nothing but smiles.
