Mother Teresa Acceptance Speech
Let us all thank God for this meeting ("Transcript of Mother TeresaВґs Acceptance Speech"). I am Mother Teresa, the founder of the Order of the
Missionaries of Charity and Patron Saint for Doubters (Eisenstadt–Evans, "Mother Teresa's canonization: She is the 'Patron saint for doubters'"). I was
born in Skopje, (the capital of the Republic of Macedonia) Albania in 1910. I'm a Roman Catholic and from the age of 18 began to study to
become a nun in Ireland (Gray, 60). In September of 1946, I received a calling from God saying I had to leave the convent and, "help the poor by
living among them," (Gray, 60). This led me to Calcutta, India where I founded the Order of the Missionaries of Charity to restore dignity in the souls
of the underprivileged, degraded, and ill ("Biography Mother Teresa"). I've been criticized for my methods of maintaining my centers but have also
been awarded the highest honor, the Nobel Peace Prize, in 1979 (Eisenstadt–Evans, "Mother Teresa's canonization: She is the 'Patron saint for
doubters'"). My life being surrounded by such violence has brought me here with you all today. My devotion to helping the helpless and forgiving
the unforgivable leads me to believe that all people are embodiments of Christ and deserve to be loved and seen as equals. With this, William
Golding is guilty of libel against the human race since all people are born pure and any malevolent acts of violence are results of society's teachings.
When I left Skopje, Albania in 1928 to

Biography Of Teres Teresa
Teresa's standing does not consist in what she tells us about herself but in what she tells us about God and his ways with us. Her life and her
accomplishments have earned her many labels, reformer, author, foundress, doctor of the church and saint and these, together with her persona have
made her one of the great women of all ages. She was born, bred and lived during the most harrowing period in the history of Roman Catholicism, the
age of Reformation and Counter–Reformation. When Teresa was possibly two in 1517, somewhere in the north of Germany, a man by the name of
Martin Luther was calling for reform in the Catholic Church. At that time, nobody would have guessed or known that this two year old would one day
contribute to turn the tides of the Catholic Reformation, pointing the way from outer chaos to inner peace.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What is most consistent with her autobiography is she was born into a family that was devoted and feared God. A story that struck me to
understand her evolution is one that mentions that when she was five years old she managed to convince her older brother to "go off to the land
of the Moors and beg them, out of love of God, to cut off our heads there." Apparently they did not get too far as they were returned by their uncle.
With this story in mind, one senses how adventurous and daring Teresa could have been and that her journey through life was going to be an
interesting one. Teresa grew up like any other normal teenage child and one could actually say, she was a rather modernized teenage young girl
because of her interest in romantic books. What I have come to know is she was an avid reader, which may have played a role in her

Leadership And Leadership Of Mother Teresa
Leadership is critical. It is the key to how everything is started. A leader is a person who is willing to sacrifice their lives and their reputations to
assist someone or something that needs help. One person took the less fortunate and the sick under her wing. She created and established hope for
those who had lost all hope. Mother Teresa dedicated her life to all those who needed help and sanctuary. She established many places and groups that
focused on helping the poor, she was selfless through devastation, and she made a name for not only herself, but for the poor and sick as well. Mother
Teresa was born in Skopje Ottoman Empire, today known as Macedonia, on August 26, 1910 (McCarthy). Her mother showed her the kindness of
her heart and gave her a new outlook on life. After realizing what life truly meant she became a nun at the age of eighteen giving her life up to
God (Mother Teresa Timeline). Soon after becoming a nun she made several personal vows. One of these vows was to obey everything God had
told her to, no matter the extremity (McCarthy). One day Mother Teresa said she heard God. God had told Mother Teresa she needed to serve only
the poorest of his creatures, the destitute, the dying, and the lonely for the rest of her life (Parks). Once she said her goodbyes, and packed her things
she went on her way. Mother Teresa decided to go to the streets of India to serve those in need.
Mother Teresa established and owned many charities and safe spots for the less

This past weekend witnessed a trifecta of momentous anniversaries. Katrina happened 5 years ago, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his "I Have a
Dream Speech" on the Washington Mall 47 years ago, and Mother Teresa was born a century ago.
Monday: Katrina; Tuesday: "I Have a Dream;" Today: Mother Teresa
After spending a great deal of time on and devoting a good deal of space to the two previous subjects in this series on recent anniversaries, 2005 's
devastating Hurricane Katrina and the world–changing 1963 "I Have a Dream" speech by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I had looked forward to writing
an innocuous, little piece on one of the two saints I have ever known.
Pope John Paul II was one, Mother Teresa was the other.
Not that I personally met with either the pope or the Catholic nun Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, later to be known as Mother Teresa, but I felt that a few
words commemorating the anniversary of her birth in Shkoder, Albania on August 26th, 1910 were in order.
Agnes ' middle name, Gonxha, meaning Rosebud, may be somewhat difficult to pronounce in English but this

Mother Cabrini Missionary To The World In the story called, "Mother Cabrini Missionary to the World", by Frances Parkinson Keyes, we learn the
virtues of Mother Cabrini, the first saint of the USA and missionary, through a non–catholic named Susan Appleby. In Mother Cabrini shows her true
devotion to God. On her trips around the world, she shows that she has limitless energy. She showed sympathy to the poor because they have a
hard life. Mother Cabrini had wanted to go help teach others her faith but she needs to have the virtues of Devotion to God, Sympathy, and
Limitless Energy to become a missionary. Mother Cabrini have three examples that show her devotion to God. Her example is that she got
confirmed when she was just seven or eight. This showed ardent because at a young age she wanted to become one of Christ's soldiers. Another
example is that ever since she was a young girl she always wanted to be a missionary in China. This shows faith because she did not go to China but
she followed God's faith and went to the USA. The last example is that Mother Cabrini helped kids with smallpox. This shows devotion because she
knew that God would help these people. This shows Mother Cabrini's love for God.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mother Teresa once said, "serve the poorest of the poor and to live among them and like them" (T. learning to give.org). Would it be possible to live
among the poor and like them? Mother Teresa was a nun that helped the poor. Mother Teresa was and is still known as a woman that had a kind
heart, and even as a teenager she would always be found helping poor children, visiting countries where there were people in need, helping those that
needed money and even after her death her charities are still helping the poor.
Just at the age of 12 she felt it was time for her to serve the children of God. She was facing a difficult decision to whether she would become a nun or
not. That would mean she would give up having a family. At the age... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

every country that she has helped she has over two–hundred of her center, other than the houses and the aiding centers.
To help the poor children of the big populated countries, Mother Teresa obviously needed a big budget to accomplish all of this. This came from
many different people. Firstly, the citizens of Calcutta. After seeing how successful her first school was, Mother Teresa started receiving
donations along with a couple of recruits (to help the poor children). The recruits were the people seeing the good that Mother Teresa was doing,
and they all wanted to take part in the good deed. As she grew in popularity, she also became a medic to help the struggling. This influenced others
to start opening charities for her cause. Although, with all of this financial help her main source of money came from the Latin American dictators,
which gave her a large budget. That would be used to send out her workers and groups to other countries, and build the houses and aiding centers
all for the poor. She had been working with the American political dictators to try to get money to give it to the poor. Mother Teresa said "Money

Analysis Of John F. Kavanaugh's Argument For Immigration
A Message From a Priest to the Congregation Mother Teresa was a Catholic saint who was famous for her missionary work, and received a Nobel
Peace Prize for her efforts ("Mother Teresa"). She is quoted as saying, "Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and unwanted according to the
graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to do the humble work" ("Mother Teresa"). This quote refers to the Christian value of
missionary work to the needy. In the article "Amnesty? Let Us Be Vigilant and Charitable," John F. Kavanaugh, a Roman Catholic priest and
philosophy professor, writes about why Christians need to encourage immigration as a form of charity work. The Kavanaugh article is effective
because he directs his argument toward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He starts with an anecdote that appeals to the readers' emotions. This tactic opens the reader's mind to new ideas because it creates a more personal
understanding of immigration. He goes on to explain why there is an increase in immigration. Furthermore, he explains how American bishops from
various states have approached this controversy as he writes, " . . . they call for more compassionate, fair, and realistic reform of out immigration
system, including education and humanitarian assistcance to all children, 'without regard to legal status'" (Kavanaugh 472). He uses this to lead into
the reasons people oppose illegal immigrants. Additionally, he acknowledges the validity of some reason to oppose immigration like national security
and border control. Doing so advances is logical structure by not appearing biased; he is able to see both sides of the argument. Next, he utilizes
Biblical examples to dispute anti–immigration arguments. This choice may seem too biased to be rooted in logic; however, this article's audience will
view scripture references as truth. Lastly, he finishes the article with a call to action by Christians to be more accepting, and a realistic change to laws
to be more lenient to immigrants who are benefiting the country. Kavanaugh successfully structures his article with clear logical

Characteristics Of Heroism In Mother Teresa
Heroism
Being a hero does not mean you have to run into a burning building and save four people single handedly, while you're putting out the fire with your
mind. Heroism in today's world is seen in many forms. There are firemen and soldiers, fathers and mothers, encouragers and uplifters. All these can be
forms of true heroism. It is simply becoming part of something bigger than yourself, just as Joseph Campbell says, "A hero is someone who has given
his or her life to something bigger than oneself." The many qualities of heroism are selflessness, humility, fearlessness, patience, and perseverance.
These characteristics are evident in a lifestyle such as Mother Teresa's.
Selflessness needs to be a bigger part of the world today. Too many people are so absorbed with themselves that they don't prioritize helping out
someone else in need. A hero to me is someone who dives into action without regard for their own safety. Not like a reckless behavior suicide
mission, but a real thought out plan with positive results, whether it be organizing a food and clothes basket or planning an army mission in foreign
countries. Selflessness is evident in Mother Teresa's life everywhere you look. She risked catching incurable diseases, being a target to some who
hated her work, and she devoted all of her time to help others instead of herself.
Heroes can also be people who use words and patience instead of running into burning buildings or going to war for our country, which are great

She also had two siblings what went by the name of Aga Bojaxhiu, Lazar Bojaxhiu. Mother Teresa won 18 awards for being an amazing
humanitarian that many aspired to me, and act like. Being a humanitarian means she did actions to help out other people before thinking about
herself. Most of her life was fully devoted to helping the poor, the sick, the needy, and the helpless. She grew up in the Roman Catholic Church
and decided to devote her life to God at a very early age. When she was 18 she joined the Sisters of Loreto to become a missionary in India even
though she needed work hard before hand since she needed to learn English, and the local language where she would be moving. She taught at
schools for many years in India and ended up becoming the headmistress at a school in eastern Calcutta. She is best known for sticking up for the
rights of the sick and helpless. When She left home for india she never saw her mother, or sister again. Her father died when she was really young,
leaving her mother to take care of her and her two siblings all by herself. Despite the challenges her family faced, her mother was one of the
greatest people to look up to as she was growing up because she had to sacrifice everything to care for her family after a tragic incident happened and
she still managed to care for others as well. Mother Teresa followed her mother

Biography
Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu was born August 26, 1910 in Skopje, in Macedonia. Her childhood was comfortable and prosperous due to her father's
success. Her father encouraged his children to be generous and compassionate to those less fortunate. Her mother was very religious and she took the
children to morning mass. Agnes often helped her mother deliver parcels of food and money to the poor and prayed with the whole family every
evening. The family's life changed dramatically after their father's death, when Agnes was 9. Although now poor themselves, they continued to help
those less fortunate. Christianity became increasingly important in Agnes' life. From the age of 12, she was aware of a desire to devote her life to

they realized the need for a bigger Mother House, which they found at 54A Lower Circular Road. Shortly after this they started a home for dying
destitutes, which were often left on the street, because of overcrowded hospitals. Mother Teresa and her lepers brought them back to die with dignity.

Personal Narrative: Saint Francis Of Assisi
One of the most important gifts of the Holy Spirit is courage. To me, courage is the ability to face your fears and stand up for what is right. It is
required to be able to serve God in the harsh world we live in today. We could face ridicule wherever we go, and we must have the courage to
continue to do what is right regardless. If we cower in fear at the smallest of obstacles, then we are showing God that we do not care enough to serve
and love him. Having courage will show that we do care. Even if sometimes we don't think we have any courage, I am confident that God will provide
at the time of greatest need for such an influential virtue.
We have many examples of saints that showed great courage. One famous example is SaintFrancis of Assisi. From a young age, Francis showed
serious interest in following Christ's word. His humbleness was climaxed when he embraced a leper on the road, something no one else would
have dared to do at the time. After Christ told him to "build up his house," Francis gave up all of his possessions. Although he sometimes had to beg
from door to door, he still attracted many followers. He was torn between a life of prayer and a life of actively preaching the good news. He died

courage by standing up for what is right, even though the injustice he fought against was an age old practice. He portrayed all of the characteristics

Two Reasons Why Mother Teresa Is A Hero
Attention Grabbing Device
Imagine people everywhere, lining alleyways. Homeless families begging for food and diseases running rampant on the streets. These are the slums of
Calcutta, India. Life in this city is miserable, desperation pervades this hopeless environment. But within there's still some optimism to be found.
Strangely enough, it comes in the form of a woman, barely five feet tall, and armed with nothing but kindness.
Thesis
Mother Teresa is a hero because she is selfless, courageous, and has strong leadership abilities.
Bio

Mother Teresa gave up everything just to help those less fortunate. For example, in 1979 she won a Nobel Peace Prize with $192,000 worth of prize
money and instead of keeping she used it to create multiple homes for victims of leprosy. She was commemorated with the highest honor, yet she was
still thinking of others.
The second reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she is courageous. For instance, many people could have shunned her for helping the unwanted,
but she found the courage and strength in her heart to help those in need. Also, she helped a particular group that had leprosy, which is a very
contagious disease. She set up many clinics in order to help these people even though she put herself at risk of catching the disease.
The final reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she was a strong leader. This trait can be exemplified because she had a relentless focus on her
mission helping the poor. She effectively implemented her plan and cared for the people of Calcutta. Mother Teresa was a situational leader, for
example she helped people according to their situation, if they were starving she would give them food, if they were homeless she would provide a
home for them to say at, or if they were sick she helped them to heal. If a situation came, she would find a solution to help them in some

she founded the Missionaries of charity, before Malcolm Muggeridge caputured her life in real action and in words, God had already written a
biography of Mother Teresa. Those who read of Mother Teresa's life become inspired to live a purposeful and wholly devoted life, yet literary critics
of Muggeridge focus on finding fault in the structure of words. Muggeridge's biography of Mother Teresa may be viewed as lacking impartiality,
however, biographies are meant to be inspiring. Three reasons why it is important for biographies to be inspiring are biographies acknowledge
significant lives, encourage trajectory living, and portray aspire able legacies. Life is not a gift to be scrutinized under a microscope. ... Show more

No one can life the same life twice, making every person unique. Biographies are the retelling of people who are significant; otherwise there would
be not point of writing a biography. In addition, Muggeridge and Mother Teresa acknowledge how biographies can glorify the person, rather than the
deed, "I should explain, in the first place, that Mother Teresa has requested that nothing in the nature of a biography or biographical study of her
should be attempted." Through such a request, Mother Teresa acknowledges how biographies are retelling of significant people, but for Mother Teresa
it is about God's accomplishment. Biographies tell us of the joys and sorrows that shape impactful people, for no one wants to read of a purposeless

Analysis Of Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa has won it all, from the hearts of even the non–Christians to the Nobel Peace Prize, and posthumously, a prestige that most of us nor
wish nor dream of, one which elevated her above us all: sainthood. In Mother Teresa's canonization, she is immortalized by Pope Francis as an icon
of love and compassion, highlighting her commitment to saving lives, claiming her "a generous dispenser of divine mercy," and her whole life "an
eloquent witness to God's closeness to the poorest of the poor" (Francis). In this essay, I hope to, knowing well that I am going against the idols of
hundreds of millions, show you that everything said by the Pope is very far from the truth, and that there is perhaps no better example of undeserved
glorification and false idolization than the wicked old lady, Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
Mother Teresa was indeed committed to saving lives, even at all costs. She was a strenuous advocate of anti–abortion, defending her position not for
moral reasons, but to enforce the centuries old Vatican's population policy established by the Catholic Church and implemented by the predecessors of,
and, Pope Francis himself. Even when working in the slums of Calcutta, a place swelteringly populous, her strict right–wing views of anti–abortion
didn't budge. Her rationale, very conservatively catholic–ly: "God has created a world big enough for all the lives He wishes to be born. It is only our
hearts that are not big enough to want them and accept them..." This way of reasoning becomes rather tricky, especially given the existence of an
omnibenevolent God, in the case of rape victims and mothers facing risks in childbirth who, in places like the slums of Calcutta, can not afford any
medical attention. What Mother Teresa is suggesting, in other words, is the mother sacrifice her life for the child. One can find something beautiful in
this. Emotions will lead us to point to the unconditional love a mother has for her child and leave us emotionally disheveled and maybe also inspired.
But rationality should tell us that in the slums of Calcutta, where each and every family is overcrowded and living far below poverty line, replacing the
death of a mother with a new baby only adds to their predicament. It

A Transformational and Servant Leader: Mother Teresa of...
"Today, perhaps no figure has come to symbolize undiluted goodness, piety, and compassion more than the small, elderly Albanian nun Agnes
Bojaxhiu–known to millions as Mother Teresa" (Fosl, 1999, p. 115). Mother Teresa is among the most fascinating and extremely respected women of
the twentieth century. She was a woman who saved lives and changed them through the absolute force of her faith and determination. Mother Teresa
was devoted to be loved in action on earth.
Mother Teresa was born Agnes Bojaxhiu on August 26, 1910 in Uskub, in the Kosovo Providence of the Ottoman Empire, which is now known as

On October 7, 1950 Mother Teresa got the permission from the Vatican to begin the diocesan congregation that would later become theMissionaries of

people who feel unwanted, unloved, uncared for throughout society, people that have become a burden to the society and are shunned by everyone"
(Mother Teresa, Winner of 1979 Nobel Peace Prize, Dies at Age 87, p. 86). This order began small having only thirteen members in Calcutta. Now that

In 1952 she opened the first home for people who were dying. She converted an abandoned Hindu temple in a free hospice for the poor. In an
interview with Malcolm Muggeridge for the book and documentary Something Beautiful for God (1971), Mother Teresa explains what happened the
day she opened hospice: "The woman was half eaten up by rats and ants. I took her to the hospital, but they could do nothing for her. They only took
her because I refused to go home unless something was done for her. After they cared for her, I went

After I am dead, I want to be remembered for being a woman who positively changed the lives of the people around me.
I have always enjoyed listening to stories and reading about people who gave up all they could to change the lives of people in their home countries
and even in other countries. I especially love reading about Mother Teresa and all the charitable work that she did. Even after her death, she is still
remembered for all that she did and the lives she touched with her work. Her story really inspires me and makes me strive to be the kind of person

There are many people in this world that we consider great humanitarians. Mother Teresa was a unique individual that stood out of the crowd because
of her involvement in helping the sick, poor and dying. She spent everyday of her adulthood caring for people that were in need by setting up the
Missionary of Charity along with many homes for the people she cared for. Mother Teresa won many awards throughout her lifetime for her dedication

She began by starting an open–air school for the children of Calcutta. She did not have any funding for her school, but that did not stop Mother Teresa.
After a couple years many people started volunteering and helped fund the school.
In 1948, Mother Teresa came across the first woman she cared for. She found a dying woman that was half eaten by rats and ants lying on the streets
of Calcutta. Mother Teresa took the lady to the hospital, but they refused to admit her. She then would not leave the hospital until they accepted the
lady, and stayed by her side until she died. From that point on she dedicated the majority of her life to caring for the poor.
Just two years later in 1950, Mother Teresa and her associates were approved within the archdiocese of Calcutta as the Missionary of Charity. After
hearing this she went to the town hall to ask for a place she could take these people and care for them. An employee of health services took her to the
Temple of Kali, which became known as Nirmal Hrida, which means pure heart. Nirmal Hirda also became known as the home of the dying. Within
24 hours Mother Teresa and her fellow sisters started gathering dying Indians from the streets of Calcutta and brought them to Nirmal Hriday. There,
they were cared for, during the last moments of their lives.

How Did Mother Teresa Influence The Missionaries Of Charity
When I think of great people who have helped others worldwide, many people come into my thoughts. However, one person stands out from the rest
for me: Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa was a very influential person who went above her call of duty by helping people and forming the Missionaries
of Charity.
The Catholic Church has helped many people who are in need that would have died if they did not help. In general, millions of Christians and
Catholics all around the world help many people who need help in many things. Catholic communities worldwide help people almost everywhere,
making the Catholic Church's influence in people's lives very large. The Catholic Church, in general, will always go outside the normal boundaries to
help those in need. Catholic saints, such as St. Francis of Assisi, St. Vincent de Paul, and most recently, St.Mother Teresa of Calcutta, are great
examples of this. Mother Teresa's love for the poor and those in need makes her one of the best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

children to morning mass. Agnes often helped her mother deliver parcels of food and money to the poor and prayed with the whole family every
evening. The family's life changed dramatically after their father's death, when Agnes was 9. Although now poor themselves, they continued to help

Life: Hildegard of Bingen, who lived from 1098 to 1179, was the tenth child of a noble couple who promised her to the service of the church as a
tithe. At eight years old, Hildegard entered into the Benedictine monastery at Mount St. Disibode to start her formal education. Raised by a religious
recluse, Hildegard lived in a stone cell with a single window and took her vows at the age of fourteen. As a child, Hildegard experienced vivid
visions, which she kept hidden throughout her childhood. However, these visions intensified later in life and she was reportedly able to foretell the
future. At age eighteen, Hildegard took her vows to become a nun. After the death of her teacher, Hildegard became the head of the community at

It has been a decade since Kolkata 's "Saint of Gutters", Mother Teresa went home to God. But Missionaries of Charity, the order established by Mother
in 1950, still continues to feel her divine presence around. The moment one enters the premises of Mother 's House on AJC Bose Road in central
Kolkata, one is overwhelmed by a feeling of warmth, peace and serenity like one has never experienced before. Two days before her tenth death
anniversary, the spirit of Mother Teresa rests in peace in a white marble tomb, built in the middle of Mother 's House, and is surrounded by devotees,
who sit with their heads bowed, paying a silent tribute to the lady who gave up everything to serve the "poorest of the poor". "Service to the poorest of
the poor" still continues to be the fundamental article of faith in Missionaries of Charity.
"Jesus is the bread of life" is written in flowers over Mother 's tomb, and a soft fragrance of incense wafts through the air to create an aura of
unmatched divinity. The room adjacent to Mother 's tomb holds her possessions and

world would be like without the sisters around to help all the people they do. It touches my heart to know that these people are devoted through Jesus.
On judgement day we all know that God will welcome these missionaries to heaven with open arms. They devote their lives to do the work of Jesus,
for these are some of the most wonderful people on this earth.
The other topic I felt was interesting in the book, is when Mother Teresa speaks of her thoughts and feelings on abortion. There are several sections
in the book, where she talks about abortion. I do agree with Mother Teresa's points on abortion. We are killing innocent children that God has
created. In one section where Mother Teresa is in an interview answering questions, one question was referring to abortion. I want to quote her
answer because it could not be answered in a better way. Her answer was, "people are trying to be free to live their own life by destroying life. For
me, this is a painful sign that either the country is so poor that it cannot care for the lives that God has created, or that people are making a tremendous
mistake." I do agree with Mother Teresa on this subject. There are so

The Influence of Religion on Mother Teresa Essay
Religion can impact a person's life through the teachings, and the values and attitudes presented. The effect which religion can give can either be
positive or negative. The effect of the Catholic religion on mother Teresa was a positive influence, an influence whichever inspired others to follow her.
Agnes Gonxha, or 'flower bud', the translation of Gonxha, was the birth name which Mother Teresa was given by her parents. Her family took religion
quite seriously, and which in turn lead Agnes to be a religious person known by many. Though Mother Teresa sparked the world with her attitude of

This lead her to follow God's will, and become a teacher at St Mary's school, and later become the principle of this school. At the school Mother
Teresa, taught history, english and a couple of other subjects to teach the children at the schools. She loved the kids as if they were her own, and
equally. Mother Teresa's second calling was the call to care for the people in the slums of Calcutta, but to do so she needed permission from her
superiors, as at this stage Mother Teresa was the principle at St Mary's. In the following year, Mother Teresa began her work which obeyed God's
call fro her to look after the poor, sick and dying in the streets. Through many difficulties, Mother Teresa obeyed and followed the work which God
led her to do, her lives work, and influenced her into making these decisions. The vow of obedience, influence Mother Teresa greatly, in following
orders from superiors, and God himself. As said by Mother Teresa, "...by faith, I am catholic. As to my calling, I belong to the world...", her calling
brought her closer to the world, and the calling itself influenced the work which Mother Teresa is known of doing.
In Calcutta, and around the world, Mother Teresa aided poor, dying and sick through her love for everyone, and the vow of poverty as her influence. A

1946, while travelling to Darjeeling, Sister Teresa received what she designated "a call within a call" (Mother). She sensed God communicating to her
and communicating to her to leave the nunnery and serve the poor while living amid them. It was Almighty's instruction. She pleased to the Catholic
establishments and communicated them what she desired to do. It procured two years for her appeal to be approved. In 1948, she started her effort as
Mother Teresa, in Calcutta. She left the instruction of the Sisters of Loreto and began what developed, in 1950, her own command, the Missionaries of
Charity. Parting behind the tradition of the Sisters of Loreto, she embraced the dress she and all the followers would attire, a white sari, finished of
stiff cloth and bordered in blue, with a cross on the shoulder.
From the establishment of her effort, Mother Teresa 's ethics were strong and firm. Her motive was to support the

The Characters Of Mother Teresa
Usually, peacemakers in society are not readily known to a large extent because the meaning of their actions is sometimes not recognized. However, it
was evident that Mother Teresa was indeed a peacemaker by her love for the poor and passion stood out to many. Her life story has convicted and
inspired many throughout history. Notwithstanding, her humble demeanor and sterling example continues to influence others around the world.
According to the thesaurus, a peacemaker is someone who settles problems. Subsequently, peacemakers are people who breathe grace. Furthermore,
peacemakers allow themselves to be used as instruments to relieve anger, improve understanding, promote justice and encourage others. Therefore, the
writer believes that Mother Teresa truly exemplified the character of a peacemaker (Sageleaf, 2015).
Family Background and Passion Mother Teresa of Calcutta, a Roman Catholic nun was born 27th August 1910 in Skopje, in Yugoslavia. Moreover,
she was the youngest of five children that were born to Nikola and Dronda Bojaxhiu who were Albanian grocers. She grew up with a strong faith
and spent much time in the church. Correspondingly, she knew from an early age that she wanted to become a missionary. Around age twelve, she
felt a calling to follow the Lord to become a missionary to spread the love and peace of Jesus Christ. Mother Teresa took her vows as a nun on the
24th May 1931. Equally important, the writer believes that as a result of her faith in God,

Mother Teresa Acceptance Speech

  • 1. Mother Teresa Acceptance Speech Let us all thank God for this meeting ("Transcript of Mother TeresaВґs Acceptance Speech"). I am Mother Teresa, the founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity and Patron Saint for Doubters (Eisenstadt–Evans, "Mother Teresa's canonization: She is the 'Patron saint for doubters'"). I was born in Skopje, (the capital of the Republic of Macedonia) Albania in 1910. I'm a Roman Catholic and from the age of 18 began to study to become a nun in Ireland (Gray, 60). In September of 1946, I received a calling from God saying I had to leave the convent and, "help the poor by living among them," (Gray, 60). This led me to Calcutta, India where I founded the Order of the Missionaries of Charity to restore dignity in the souls of the underprivileged, degraded, and ill ("Biography Mother Teresa"). I've been criticized for my methods of maintaining my centers but have also been awarded the highest honor, the Nobel Peace Prize, in 1979 (Eisenstadt–Evans, "Mother Teresa's canonization: She is the 'Patron saint for doubters'"). My life being surrounded by such violence has brought me here with you all today. My devotion to helping the helpless and forgiving the unforgivable leads me to believe that all people are embodiments of Christ and deserve to be loved and seen as equals. With this, William Golding is guilty of libel against the human race since all people are born pure and any malevolent acts of violence are results of society's teachings. When I left Skopje, Albania in 1928 to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Biography Of Teres Teresa Teresa's standing does not consist in what she tells us about herself but in what she tells us about God and his ways with us. Her life and her accomplishments have earned her many labels, reformer, author, foundress, doctor of the church and saint and these, together with her persona have made her one of the great women of all ages. She was born, bred and lived during the most harrowing period in the history of Roman Catholicism, the age of Reformation and Counter–Reformation. When Teresa was possibly two in 1517, somewhere in the north of Germany, a man by the name of Martin Luther was calling for reform in the Catholic Church. At that time, nobody would have guessed or known that this two year old would one day contribute to turn the tides of the Catholic Reformation, pointing the way from outer chaos to inner peace.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What is most consistent with her autobiography is she was born into a family that was devoted and feared God. A story that struck me to understand her evolution is one that mentions that when she was five years old she managed to convince her older brother to "go off to the land of the Moors and beg them, out of love of God, to cut off our heads there." Apparently they did not get too far as they were returned by their uncle. With this story in mind, one senses how adventurous and daring Teresa could have been and that her journey through life was going to be an interesting one. Teresa grew up like any other normal teenage child and one could actually say, she was a rather modernized teenage young girl because of her interest in romantic books. What I have come to know is she was an avid reader, which may have played a role in her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Leadership And Leadership Of Mother Teresa Leadership is critical. It is the key to how everything is started. A leader is a person who is willing to sacrifice their lives and their reputations to assist someone or something that needs help. One person took the less fortunate and the sick under her wing. She created and established hope for those who had lost all hope. Mother Teresa dedicated her life to all those who needed help and sanctuary. She established many places and groups that focused on helping the poor, she was selfless through devastation, and she made a name for not only herself, but for the poor and sick as well. Mother Teresa was born in Skopje Ottoman Empire, today known as Macedonia, on August 26, 1910 (McCarthy). Her mother showed her the kindness of her heart and gave her a new outlook on life. After realizing what life truly meant she became a nun at the age of eighteen giving her life up to God (Mother Teresa Timeline). Soon after becoming a nun she made several personal vows. One of these vows was to obey everything God had told her to, no matter the extremity (McCarthy). One day Mother Teresa said she heard God. God had told Mother Teresa she needed to serve only the poorest of his creatures, the destitute, the dying, and the lonely for the rest of her life (Parks). Once she said her goodbyes, and packed her things she went on her way. Mother Teresa decided to go to the streets of India to serve those in need. Mother Teresa established and owned many charities and safe spots for the less ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Monday: Katrina; Tuesday: "I Have a Dream;" Today: Mother Teresa After spending a great deal of time on and devoting a good deal of space to the two previous subjects in this series on recent anniversaries, 2005 's devastating Hurricane Katrina and the world–changing 1963 "I Have a Dream" speech by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I had looked forward to writing an innocuous, little piece on one of the two saints I have ever known. Pope John Paul II was one, Mother Teresa was the other. Not that I personally met with either the pope or the Catholic nun Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, later to be known as Mother Teresa, but I felt that a few words commemorating the anniversary of her birth in Shkoder, Albania on August 26th, 1910 were in order. Overall she has helped over twenty–five countries in the world. In every country that she has helped she has over two–hundred of her center, other than the houses and the aiding centers. To help the poor children of the big populated countries, Mother Teresa obviously needed a big budget to accomplish all of this. This came from many different people. Firstly, the citizens of Calcutta. After seeing how successful her first school was, Mother Teresa started receiving donations along with a couple of recruits (to help the poor children). The recruits were the people seeing the good that Mother Teresa was doing, and they all wanted to take part in the good deed. As she grew in popularity, she also became a medic to help the struggling. This influenced others to start opening charities for her cause. Although, with all of this financial help her main source of money came from the Latin American dictators, which gave her a large budget. That would be used to send out her workers and groups to other countries, and build the houses and aiding centers all for the poor. She had been working with the American political dictators to try to get money to give it to the poor. Kavanaugh's Argument For Immigration A Message From a Priest to the Congregation Mother Teresa was a Catholic saint who was famous for her missionary work, and received a Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts ("Mother Teresa"). She is quoted as saying, "Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and unwanted according to the graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to do the humble work" ("Mother Teresa"). This quote refers to the Christian value of missionary work to the needy. In the article "Amnesty? Let Us Be Vigilant and Charitable," John F. Kavanaugh, a Roman Catholic priest and philosophy professor, writes about why Christians need to encourage immigration as a form of charity work. This tactic opens the reader's mind to new ideas because it creates a more personal understanding of immigration. He goes on to explain why there is an increase in immigration. Furthermore, he explains how American bishops from various states have approached this controversy as he writes, " . . . they call for more compassionate, fair, and realistic reform of out immigration system, including education and humanitarian assistcance to all children, 'without regard to legal status'" (Kavanaugh 472). He uses this to lead into the reasons people oppose illegal immigrants. Additionally, he acknowledges the validity of some reason to oppose immigration like national security and border control. Doing so advances is logical structure by not appearing biased; he is able to see both sides of the argument. Next, he utilizes Biblical examples to dispute anti–immigration arguments. This choice may seem too biased to be rooted in logic; however, this article's audience will view scripture references as truth. • 9. Characteristics Of Heroism In Mother Teresa Heroism Being a hero does not mean you have to run into a burning building and save four people single handedly, while you're putting out the fire with your mind. Heroism in today's world is seen in many forms. There are firemen and soldiers, fathers and mothers, encouragers and uplifters. All these can be forms of true heroism. It is simply becoming part of something bigger than yourself, just as Joseph Campbell says, "A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself." The many qualities of heroism are selflessness, humility, fearlessness, patience, and perseverance. These characteristics are evident in a lifestyle such as Mother Teresa's. Selflessness needs to be a bigger part of the world today. Too many people are so absorbed with themselves that they don't prioritize helping out someone else in need. A hero to me is someone who dives into action without regard for their own safety. Not like a reckless behavior suicide mission, but a real thought out plan with positive results, whether it be organizing a food and clothes basket or planning an army mission in foreign countries. Selflessness is evident in Mother Teresa's life everywhere you look. She risked catching incurable diseases, being a target to some who hated her work, and she devoted all of her time to help others instead of herself. Heroes can also be people who use words and patience instead of running into burning buildings or going to war for our country, which are great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Personal Narrative: Saint Francis Of Assisi One of the most important gifts of the Holy Spirit is courage. To me, courage is the ability to face your fears and stand up for what is right. It is required to be able to serve God in the harsh world we live in today. We could face ridicule wherever we go, and we must have the courage to continue to do what is right regardless. If we cower in fear at the smallest of obstacles, then we are showing God that we do not care enough to serve and love him. Having courage will show that we do care. Even if sometimes we don't think we have any courage, I am confident that God will provide at the time of greatest need for such an influential virtue. We have many examples of saints that showed great courage. One famous example is SaintFrancis of Assisi. From a young age, Francis showed serious interest in following Christ's word. His humbleness was climaxed when he embraced a leper on the road, something no one else would have dared to do at the time. After Christ told him to "build up his house," Francis gave up all of his possessions. Although he sometimes had to beg from door to door, he still attracted many followers. She was commemorated with the highest honor, yet she was still thinking of others. The second reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she is courageous. For instance, many people could have shunned her for helping the unwanted, but she found the courage and strength in her heart to help those in need. Also, she helped a particular group that had leprosy, which is a very contagious disease. She set up many clinics in order to help these people even though she put herself at risk of catching the disease. The final reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she was a strong leader. This trait can be exemplified because she had a relentless focus on her mission helping the poor. She effectively implemented her plan and cared for the people of Calcutta. Mother Teresa was a situational leader, for example she helped people according to their situation, if they were starving she would give them food, if they were homeless she would provide a home for them to say at, or if they were sick she helped them to heal. • 21. Analysis Of Mother Teresa Mother Teresa has won it all, from the hearts of even the non–Christians to the Nobel Peace Prize, and posthumously, a prestige that most of us nor wish nor dream of, one which elevated her above us all: sainthood. In Mother Teresa's canonization, she is immortalized by Pope Francis as an icon of love and compassion, highlighting her commitment to saving lives, claiming her "a generous dispenser of divine mercy," and her whole life "an eloquent witness to God's closeness to the poorest of the poor" (Francis). In this essay, I hope to, knowing well that I am going against the idols of hundreds of millions, show you that everything said by the Pope is very far from the truth, and that there is perhaps no better example of undeserved glorification and false idolization than the wicked old lady, Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Mother Teresa was indeed committed to saving lives, even at all costs. She was a strenuous advocate of anti–abortion, defending her position not for moral reasons, but to enforce the centuries old Vatican's population policy established by the Catholic Church and implemented by the predecessors of, and, Pope Francis himself. Even when working in the slums of Calcutta, a place swelteringly populous, her strict right–wing views of anti–abortion didn't budge. Her rationale, very conservatively catholic–ly: "God has created a world big enough for all the lives He wishes to be born. It is only our hearts that are not big enough to want them and accept them..." This way of reasoning becomes rather tricky, especially given the existence of an omnibenevolent God, in the case of rape victims and mothers facing risks in childbirth who, in places like the slums of Calcutta, can not afford any medical attention. What Mother Teresa is suggesting, in other words, is the mother sacrifice her life for the child. One can find something beautiful in this. Emotions will lead us to point to the unconditional love a mother has for her child and leave us emotionally disheveled and maybe also inspired. But rationality should tell us that in the slums of Calcutta, where each and every family is overcrowded and living far below poverty line, replacing the death of a mother with a new baby only adds to their predicament. At age eighteen, Hildegard took her vows to become a nun. After the death of her teacher, Hildegard became the head of the community at twenty years old. Around the year 1150, she founded her own convent in Rupertsberg, Germany on the Rhine River near Bingen. At age forty–two, Hildegard experienced the mystical vision that transformed her life. But Missionaries of Charity, the order established by Mother in 1950, still continues to feel her divine presence around. The moment one enters the premises of Mother 's House on AJC Bose Road in central Kolkata, one is overwhelmed by a feeling of warmth, peace and serenity like one has never experienced before. Two days before her tenth death anniversary, the spirit of Mother Teresa rests in peace in a white marble tomb, built in the middle of Mother 's House, and is surrounded by devotees, who sit with their heads bowed, paying a silent tribute to the lady who gave up everything to serve the "poorest of the poor". "Service to the poorest of the poor" still continues to be the fundamental article of faith in Missionaries of Charity. "Jesus is the bread of life" is written in flowers over Mother 's tomb, and a soft fragrance of incense wafts through the air to create an aura of unmatched divinity. The room adjacent to Mother 's tomb holds her possessions and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Mother Teresa Essay Choose the two sections of Mother Tesresa's book that stuck out most, and explain why they made an impact on you. This book was so informative that it is so hard to pick only two parts that impacted me the most. If I have to choose only two the first would be Chapter Eight, " The Poor and Rich in Love." As Mother Theresa makes so many points in this section. The stories she tells about bringing the dying off the streets to die in peace. This is so touching that these missionaries devote their lives to the poor. They choose to be poor, and Mother Theresatalks about they choose to be poor to really understand and feel what these poor people are experiencing. I never really knew what these missionaries do, and it just fills my heart that there are people in the world that devote their lives to taking care of the homeless, feeding the starving, and helping the dying. Where would our world be without these people? It is sad to even think about what the world would be like without the sisters around to help all the people they do. It touches my heart to know that these people are devoted through Jesus. On judgement day we all know that God will welcome these missionaries to heaven with open arms. They devote their lives to do the work of Jesus, for these are some of the most wonderful people on this earth. The other topic I felt was interesting in the book, is when Mother Teresa speaks of her thoughts and feelings on abortion. There are several sections in the book, where she talks about abortion. I do agree with Mother Teresa's points on abortion. We are killing innocent children that God has created. In one section where Mother Teresa is in an interview answering questions, one question was referring to abortion. I want to quote her answer because it could not be answered in a better way. Her answer was, "people are trying to be free to live their own life by destroying life. For me, this is a painful sign that either the country is so poor that it cannot care for the lives that God has created, or that people are making a tremendous mistake." I do agree with Mother Teresa on this subject. There are so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dominique LaPierre's The City of Joy Essay Dominique LaPierre's The City of Joy "His suffering was transformed into surprise then peace, the peace that comes from being loved" (C.O.J. p. 254). In the book the City of Joy, Hasari, Mother Theresa, Stephan Kolvaski and Max Loeb all experienced the joy and helpfulness that comes from being loved. Even when the people of India didn't share the blame beliefs he did, he helped feed the starving and cure the sick. His kindness helped many people in his village. Kolvaskis fight to help the poor brought him and Bandonna together. Bandonna has a way with the sick the hungry like on one else did. She cared for them in a way that people wished they could understand. "No one had ever taught her, yet she knew it all through intuition, friendship, and love" (C.O.J. p. 168). She continued to care for the poor when she was sick or even in danger. Bandonna's love and ability to care for people inspired Kolvolski to bring in more help from others. Max Loeb decided to come to Calcutta to help out in Kolvaski's plan. Max learned to treat the injured with kindness even when looking at them made him ill. As one of his first jobs Max was to deliver a baby to a leper woman. The gruesome looking people made him wonder how they could be so happy in a place like that.
