with the values she's accustomed throughout all her years of Catholicism. She began helping "the
poorest of the poor" because that's where she believed God was pointing her. She was able to help
kids become literate, families become healthy and inspired others to do the same. Though she was
constantly tired, she believes that it was prayer that kept her going. She likes to describe this as

If there is anyone whom I can see as a peaceful and happy soul in the universe, it would be Mother

Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu was born August 26, 1910 in Skopje, in Macedonia. Her childhood was
comfortable and prosperous due to her father's success. Her father encouraged his children to be
generous and compassionate to those less fortunate. Her mother was very religious and she took the
children to morning mass. Agnes often helped her mother deliver parcels of food and money to the
poor and prayed with the whole family every evening. The family's life changed dramatically after
their father's death, when Agnes was 9. Although now poor themselves, they continued to help those

Sister Teresa now 38 went to stay with the Medical Mission Sisters in Pantra to learn some basic

herself. In December she returned to Calcutta to start her own life and moved in with the Little
Sisters of the Poor in the slums of Calcutta. Within weeks she was joined by her would be novices,
mostly girls from the school where she was head mistress. By 1949, Mother Teresa was granted
Indian citizenship. After a 1–year trial, she applied to Rome to form a new congregation. They were

Pope Pius XII approved the foundation of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity. As more
Sisters joined, they realized the need for a bigger Mother House, which they found at 54A Lower
Circular Road. Shortly after this they started a home for dying destitutes, which were often left on
the street, because of overcrowded hospitals. Mother Teresa and her lepers brought them back to

This book was so informative that it is so hard to pick only two parts that impacted me the most. If
I have to choose only two the first would be Chapter Eight, " The Poor and Rich in Love." As
Mother Theresa makes so many points in this section. The stories she tells about bringing the dying
off the streets to die in peace. This is so touching that these missionaries devote their lives to the

I never really knew what these missionaries do, and it just fills my heart that there are people in
the world that devote their lives to taking care of the homeless, feeding the starving, and helping
the dying. Where would our world be without these people? It is sad to even think about what the
world would be like without the sisters around to help all the people they do. It touches my heart
to know that these people are devoted through Jesus. On judgement day we all know that God will
welcome these missionaries to heaven with open arms. They devote their lives to do the work of
Jesus, for these are some of the most wonderful people on this earth.
The other topic I felt was interesting in the book, is when Mother Teresa speaks of her thoughts
and feelings on abortion. There are several sections in the book, where she talks about abortion. I
do agree with Mother Teresa's points on abortion. We are killing innocent children that God has
created. In one section where Mother Teresa is in an interview answering questions, one question
was referring to abortion. I want to quote her answer because it could not be answered in a better
way. Her answer was, "people are trying to be free to live their own life by destroying life. For
me, this is a painful sign that either the country is so poor that it cannot care for the lives that God
has created, or that people are making a tremendous mistake." I do agree with Mother Teresa on this
