Free People: Founded By Dick Hayne
Free People
HISTORY
Founded by Dick Hayne, Free People opened in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the early 1970's. The clothing was meant to reflect the freedom of
the people who shopped there.
Over time Free People became Urban Outfitter.
Dick's wife was in charge of the development of Urban Outfitter's private label that consisted of products exclusively sold at Urban Outfitters. Due to
the overwhelming needs, wants, and demands, they agreed to create a wholesale line. Once they realized it's success they made the decision to branch
out in two separate businesses, giving Free People life again. Today they have over 1,400 specialty stores and are available in some department stores
such as Nordstrom and Bloomingdales.

concept of being a free spirit, ready for adventure no matter where it may be. Free People works to represent spirit also through their bohemian styled
clothing.
According to Google dictionary bohemian is a person who has informal and unconventional social habits and synonyms include nonconformist, free

This style focuses on free and flowy fabrics that reiterate Free People's brand image. These types of clothes give off a whimsical feel that also

Free People worked hard to become a well–known brand with a very noticeable image. They have created their marketing along with packaging

high quality clothing and then learning from that success to come up with what they wanted to be known for. They use their three main ideals,
femininity, courage, and spirit to tie everything together. Their packaging, website, store fronts, interior designs, blog, social media sites all look

Introduction: The purpose of this report is to investigate the challenges of setting up a business and the difference between the major forms of
business; particularly, niche markets as compared to the larger mainstream markets. Define three (3) challenges when setting up a business. Explain
why they are challenges. The three main challenges when setting up a business are: cash flow, product supply and demand, and human resources.
Depending on the type of business, you will have the initial cost of beginning the business prior to any income derived from that business. What type

Explain how a niche player chips away at a larger competitor's base. Give three examples of retailers who have done this. There are three areas in
which a niche player can chip away at a larger competitor's base: go after a different way of delivering a product; provide a premium product or

Identifying Branding And Rebranding : Overview
Assessing Branding and Rebranding

What is a Brand
When people are asked, "what is a brand?," Many things come to mind. They think brand is equivalent to a logo. Once upon a time, brands were
simply a mark to tell the difference between 'yours from mine', but since the olden days of branding cattle and differentiating belongings, things have
changed quite a bit.
"In reality, a brand is like an iceberg. The tip is the most obvious and visible part – the logo – but most of the iceberg is actually under the surface; the
strategy, service offering, culture, experience and other aspects which all contribute to the overall brand." –Millward Brown, The Disappearing Iceberg.
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The brand is the service that is offered
It is not just about the product or company, itself, that one must have the capacity to offer the consumers it is targeting, but it is also about how you
offer it. The experience and interaction of the consumer is something of vital importance in taking the brand that one is trying to create a surrounding
idea and experience for, from a place that singularly is around to sells things, to something much, much more than that: an engaging partnership
between company or product and consumer, a life changing, passion igniting icon amongst the crowd. The brand is the people who you integrate into
your company
Your employees are the most important people to your brand. If they are not on your side or not a huge influence on the character of the company, the
brand experience that the company or product is trying to creat falls flat. It is the job of your leadership to inspire your employees to live the brand in
everything that they do.
A good, nay, great example of a brand that no only has influential design, but arguably has also one of the most successful employee versus brand
relationship, along with a very strong employee morale within the company is none other than IBM.
IBM, according to their company website:
"He didn't talk about product lines or strategy. Instead,
Watson (Thomas Watson Sr., Founder) preached unity of purpose. 'We want you all to get together and everybody have their shoulder

Essay On Urban Store
I went to Urban Outfitters on Green Street in Champaign. Because of it was on Green Street, there is very limited parking. Most of their
customers walk to the store rather than drive there. The outside of the store looks very clean and modern. It is made out of glass windows, so you
can see into the store from the outside. The glass is clean and I assume that they clean it daily because it always looks clean when I pass the store. I
think that it looks very inviting because of the modern look that it has. The front door is very clean and the entryway into the store is also clean. The
store is very well designed. There are plenty of walkways for the customer to walk around, but there are also enough displays to keep the customers...

The grouping of the clothing is by lifestyle. Depending on the what the clothes are for, that is how the clothes are organized. The grouping make sense
for the store. There are little things right next to the cashier, such as gift cards or accessories to try to get the customer to buy. Add–on items include
hair accessories such as headbands and hair ties. I feel like all of the items are priced pretty well. I did not see any sales rack, which is not
surprising because this store tends to be pretty highly expensive. I think that the staff is really engaged and they are trying to help the customer find
anything that they may need. I was greeted right away right when I walked into the store. I think that there suggestions were pretty helpful. I told
them I was looking for something for my sister and they directed me towards something that she may like. They are dressed in regular clothes that
you may be able to find inside the store. I thin that they are very professional looking. I did not purchase anything in the store. I think that the store
was pretty busy and it was very exciting and inviting. It smells nice, but I do not think that I would hang out in there for fun. The music matches
perfectly with the rest of the store, but it is not too loud and it is very peaceful. The surfaces are inviting and the fabrics are really nice. I did not bump
into any surfaces. There are many women in

Urban Outfitters Executive Summary
I chose Urban Outfitters and Trader Joe's as my industries to analyze. The purpose was to see how each of the two industries website appeals to three
company stakeholders which include employees, customers, and the media. Urban Outfitters is an American multinational clothing corporation while
Trader Joe's is an American privately held chain of specialty grocery stores. Employees and customers are viewed as primary stakeholders, meaning
they are fundamental to a company's operations and survival. Media is a secondary stakeholder, so it does not usually engage in direct transactions
with a company making it not essential for its survival. What a company shows on their website is meant to appeal to particular stakeholders, it just

Trader Joe's has a tab labeled "Our Story" on their home page that benefits both customers and employees. Both customers and employees like to
know where a company came from and how it came to be what it is today. Trader Joe's is very considerate of its customers and tries to make it easy
for them to buy what they want even if they have certain food allergies or preferences. To elaborate, on the bottom of their website, under "dietary
lists," there is gluten free, kosher, and vegan. Trader Joe's website points out that their products will say on them if they meet any of these dietary
needs, it is just up to the customer to look for them. Their website also provides links for customers to use to help answer any questions they may
have. These links are located on the bottom of their website and are labeled "Contact Us, FAQs, and Sitemap." This allows customers to search for
answers or to be able to call a person and ask them a question. Lastly, to accommodate to customers, Trader Joe's has a "TJ'S Test Kitchen" link which
provides a picture of a meal and a recipe below it on how to make it. Trader Joe's is focused on employees because "Careers" is a main tab on the top of
their home page. It also wants current and future employees to feel welcome by providing links saying

Urban Outfitters : A High Street Fashion Brand
The internationalisation of retailing is defined by Treadgold (Wigley et al, 2005) as having "visible" and "invisible" dimensions. The Invisible
dimension has been defined as the international sourcing of products and services and the cross–border transfer of management expertise in the form of
managerial policies or technical skills (Kacker, cited Wigley et al 2005). This refers to the aspects of the business which are intangible, such as
marketing knowledge. On the other hand, for the visible dimension, the fashion retailer's internationalisation is the operation of retail shops within
foreign markets (Hines & Bruce, 2001). In this essay I will outline why I believe Urban Outfitters, a high street fashion brand, should expand its
international presence by suggesting possible areas for internationalisation. Urban Outfitters (UO) operate 130 stores in USA, Canada and Europe
and have made early steps to move into Asia. I also aim to discuss which brand strategy should be developed and whether alternative retail channels
should be used to facilitate this expansion, focusing on the customer as a key ingredient for organisational success. I will be looking at UO's existing
international presence as well as considering further growth. I will be looking at a number of issues and complexities which impact on the
internationalisation of retail brands, particularly the impact these factors have on the fashion industry and how the brand can alleviate ethical concerns.
For this I will

According to URBN.com, the original mission of the company was "to provide second–hand clothing, furniture, jewelry and home decor for
college–aged customers in a casual fun environment." Since then, Urban Outfitters has evolved and expanded tremendously with over 200 stores in the

products, beauty products, and music while keeping its focus on creativity and cultural understanding for like–minded, creative individuals. Urban

In this paper I will analyze the pros and cons of expanding this company into Brazil.
Body From what I have read in a lot of articles, Brazil would be a great place to expand a retailer to. In this paragraph, I plan on discussing the pros
and cons of expanding American Eagle Outfitters to this region and if it would be an overall good choice for the company. If there is one thing
that is important to a company, it would definitely be sales. What is a business without sales? According to this article that I found, provided by
Boccaccio, Brazil's retail sales per capita have sky rocketed within the past couple of years. "Retail sales per capita in Brazil (#1 in the Index) have
grown 12% per year for the past four years to reach $5,514, the third largest of the countries ranked in the GRDI. The retail market size increased 15%
last year, and consumer–spending ahs increased by 9% per year since 2007. In 2011, retail sales accounted for 70% of Brazil's consumer spending"
(Boccaccio). If of all consumer spending, 70% was spent on retail sales, that is a lot of retail shopping! Another pro of expanding to this country would
be the fact that American Eagle Outfitters has saturated their home market. There are only a few ways to help a business after they have achieved
market saturation and that would be a rise in consumer demand, better product innovations

Architecture : Design And Method Of Construction
Architecture
Architecture deals with the design stage of structures and uses a blend of scientific knowledge and creativity to develop structures of all shapes and

Becoming a fully qualified architect takes a while – a full seven years. Students will have to complete an undergraduate course, followed by a year
within the industry, then complete a postgraduate course, which is then followed by another year in the industry. It is a very long path to take.
Students are able to study Bachelors of Arts and Bachelors of Science degrees within Architecture, Architectural Design and Technology, Interior
Architecture and Venue Design, as well as BEng CivilEngineering with Architecture.
What should I expect from studying Architecture?
Architecture degrees tend to be concentrated around design, which can account for approximately 50–50% of a student 's' time, although it is dependent
on the exact course as they differ at different universities. Alongside this aspect, students are able to take modules in the history and theory of
architecture, as well as others focusing on the technologies of construction and building fabrication. Students may also have modules that introduce
them into the professional practice of architecture.
How will I be assessed?
Students who are studying a BA in Architecture may find themselves completing coursework in practical modules, and that most of their project design

So millennials will change their buying behaviors based on the available information. This means the higher prices for Tailgateclothing can be
associated with superior quality, and good reviews online can sway consumers to make a purchasing decision.
Because of how millennials tend to utilize as many online resources as possible, they are seen as first to try new things, or early adopters. They
have been found to lead the way with as simple of an act as writing a review for a product, which leads other people specifically in other generations
to try it. As other people continue to listen to millennials through multiple platforms, their opinions strengthen to the point where they can create and
even change trends. Through this, millennial's opinions of a sub brand of American Eagle to make collegiate apparel could greatly shape how other
generations of people view it. As millennials form opinions of possible new brands, the use of online reviews is crucial to its success seeing as the

by their actions of positive online reviews.

They need to work on earning the trust of their customers with their affordable prices and good quality of the garments sold. In addition to customer
loyalty, not enough time is spent on advertising of the company. Because of the lack of advertising AE has experienced a loss of fashion sales in the
recent years. The store needs to reach out to its target market by providing more commercial or doing more promotional work. American Eagle is
challenged with determining what trends are appropriate for its customers and how to interpret thee trends. Over the past two years, competitors such as
Abercrombie and Fitch have lowered their prices, which have created additional promotional pressure for American Eagle. Some investors believe

Urban Outfitters : Residential Outfitters
I 'm not really a frequent Urban Outfitters customer. I often sit around my house looking at all the beautiful goodies that Urban Outfitters offers. The
prices are a little too steep for me to buy what I want all the time, but every once in a while, I go all out and shop on Urban Outfitters. Selection Urban
Outfitters has a wide variety of products for men, women, and your apartment. When I first starting shopping on the Urban Outfitters website, I was
madly in love with EVERYTHING I saw in both the women 's section and the apartment section. Unfortunately I think the clothing styles they offer
have went down hill. Most of the products on Urban Outfitters are really unique items that you cannot get anywhere else, which I love because I
cannot stand wearing the same thing as anyone else. Men 's: There is not as much of a selection for men as there is for women, but there is still a
pretty decent selection. Surprisingly, the men 's items cost about the same amount as the women 's. The women 's clothing used to cost more, but
now they seem pretty even. Women 's: The styles offered for women look kind of like someone wandered around in the dark at their grandma 's
house, took some of her clothes, then added them directly into their wardrobe. A lot of the choices are horribly tacky, but about 1 out of every 10
misses is a hit. Apartment: This is my favorite section to look around in. There are beautiful quilts, curtains, and furniture available on the website

Le Corbusier's Self Endorsed Edict, A State Of Mind For...
Moving towards the end of the passage, Le Corbusier's final assertion in his self endorsed edict "A state of mind for conceiving mass–production
housing." Again one could argue Le Corbusier was inferring more so to a level of thought where there is no pre conceived notion of what a home or
tower is, or even can be, only the task at hand and a mind to solve it. For instance, the 'Dom–Ino' system (Fig 4.1) he established in 1910 while touring
the AEG factory you when applied rigorously and with strict adherence to the mindset of mass production, will inevitably reach standardization no
matter the variation. This last tenet, In particular and much like modernism itself, can be interpreted in a multitude of ways yet with adherence to
something so prescribed as the earlier excerpt is it reinforces his order for us to accept a design seemingly devoid of feeling or form, is to look at it
as architecture, but as a singular object part of a much larger whole that only is integrated on a much larger scale, in doing so would solve the problem
at hand and to not lose sight of that.
Le Corbusier wanted architecture to be the same the world over because he believed that there was a "correct" way to build and only he knew what
the solution was. The program of the International Congress for Modern Architecture, of which Le Corbusier was the significant proponent, states:
"Reforms are extended simultaneously to all cities, to all rural areas, across the seas." No exceptions. "Oslo, Moscow,

Urban Regeneration And Urban Development
INTRODUCTION:
This dissertation is influenced by the ongoing urban regeneration and urban developments in many of the major cities in India, especially in city of
Pune, and its adverse effects on the city townscapes and place identities. City of Pune has a rich education legacy and has been often referred as the
'Oxford of the East', a legacy which came into prominence on the establishment of the University of Pune in the year 1949 (Hindustan Times, 2012).
The city truly justified itself as the cultural capital of Maharashtra with its strong connections with the work of arts, music, theater and literature
(Hindustan Times, 2012). Pune, being an educational hub of India by having one of the India's oldest University (Maharashtra Tourism, 2013), has now
been transformed into a major manufacture and production hub as well as has improved in educational sectors like research institutes for information
technology, management, architecture and engineering that attract students and professionals internationally (SCHEMCON, 2015).
With the inception of international influences and urban planning techniques, it has been realized that the old heritage and culture, the core Pune
identity is slowly been taking a blow. The urbanization has been transforming the urban townscapes of Pune into completely new dimensions thus
hampering the glorious heritage and cultural identity for which the city of Pune is known for. The following research will highlight the importance of

Human Caused Environmental Impacts On Beijing
The analysis of human–caused environmental impacts in Beijing "Beijing lie between longitudes 115В°25′E and 117В°30′E and between

As the exploration of the industrial development and increased speed of the urban sprawl in Beijing, many severe environmental issues attribute mainly
to the anthropocentric activities have been come out of the scene. One of them is the air pollution. Air pollution has been regarded as the most severe
environment issue in China since it has already threatened to physical health, especially for the respiratory tract and lung. "In January 2013, Beijing
experienced historical heavy air pollution. In this particular month, very few days were observed with blue sky." (Lijian Han et.al., 2015) According
to the analysis of the driving factors, "the population grew fast, and energy consumption and the number of vehicles increased rapidly" (Ju Zhang
et.al., 2010), these factors add together can make the air quality worse than any one of them separately can. Firstly, it has been an undoubted truth that
more and more people originally lived in rural has been moved to core urban of Beijing since there are more opportunities in there. Therefore, the
huge explosion of urban population with more energy release and more CO2 exhalation is seen as an inevitably primary factor causing the bad air
quality. What's more, as the population

Shopping Habits Of Consumers : A Survey Research And...
4 Preliminary Findings
Based upon our survey research and quantitative data, we are able to draw a few conclusions about shopping habits of consumers. We had a sample
size of 93 individuals, 53 of which were females and 25 of which were males. Due to our relatively large sample size, we were able to draw some
conclusions regarding the population.
43.53% of respondents indicated that they shop for clothing and apartment items 2–3 times a month, 35.29% indicated they shop for these items 0–1
times a month and the remaining 21.18% indicated they shop for these items more than 4 times a month. We are able to conclude that people usually
shop both online and in store, as 80.23% responded as such. The top four factors that are important to customers when considering an apparel store to
shop at are price, quality, comfort and trendiness. We are able to conclude thatUrban Outfitters has a high level of brand recognition because 100% of
our respondents had previously heard of the company. 60.47% of our respondents have shopped at Urban Outfitters before and only 38.46% of the
respondents have shopped there in the last 6 months. 41.18% of our respondents who had never shopped at Urban Outfitters before said they were
extremely unlikely to start.
We performed a two–sample comparison of means test with the means of each factor in questions 7 and 10. Below are our hypotheses and test results:

Essay On Urban Outfitters
Urban Outfitters is a popular clothing and accessory store that was founded in 1970, and generates success from the type of merchandise it retails, as
well as through the contemporary culture and ethos that it promotes to its customers. The store has stated that it is targeted towards a specific audience
that ranges from eighteen to thirty years old, who are well "educated, [and] urban–minded" ("Urban Outfitters"). Urban Outfitters offers a specific
shopping experience that is unique to its store, because it focuses on a well–defined audience that is attracted by its modern environment and trendy
clothes. Many individuals are unconsciously lured into the store first by the placement of the store itself, then by what the consumer can see in the
front windows, and lastly by the specific and well thought out placement of the store's merchandise. It is evident that the theories regarding retail

The first ratio that will be used is the profit margin ratio. This ratio is computed by dividing net income by sales. The second ratio to be used is
known as the return on assets ratio (ROA). Return on Assets is computed by dividing net income by total assets. The final ratio that will used within
this report is called the return on equity ratio (ROE). This ratio can be calculated by dividing a company's net income by its total equity.
There are quite a few reasons for choosing the three ratios mentioned above. One big reason for our selection is due to the popularity of these ratios.
By having a lot of popularity, we can be sure that our audience will be familiar with what we are talking about, without having to waste too much time
explaining. Another reason for choosing these three ratios is that they are relatively easy to calculate. A final reason for picking our three ratios is
because they allow us to understand why a company may be outperforming or underperforming in term of profitability, without having to be a
professional.

The American Eagle Ethos
Motivation drives us to accomplish our goals in life. A simple sentence such as "I can get through this day." or "I can become president." turns into the
driving factor that helps us reach our destination. We all have used the "I can" statement and American Eagle has taken that statement to the next level
in their #WeAllCan Campaign. The minute long video features a cast of celebrities in different settings throughout New York like Coney Island
wearing a casual style of clothing. Black and white scenes intertwine with color scenes throughout the video, with even a vintage style of film shown.
Through the credibility of the cast, the American Eagle Campaign effectively appeals to a target audience of millennials. The campaign uses pathos to
create a cause of individuality and speaking out, but only uses those celebrities in a stereotypical way to sell the brand of clothes.
This advertisement features a group of well–known millennials from our generation that give an immense amount of credibility to the commercial. It
has role models of social media, music, television, and the fashion industry. Some actors that appear frequently are Troye Sivan, an out of the closet
gay musician, Hailee Steinfeld, famous actor of Blackish, and Cody Christian, the recurring actor from Pretty Little Liars. This cast shows individuality
and the new generation by having different races, sexual orientation, and gender. The ethos in the video attracts not only heteronormative buyers with

The Growth Of The Brazilian Economy
As the largest economy in Latin America and seventh largest (by nominal GDP) in the world, the Brazilian economy is experiencing many positive
effects, characterized by it's inward–oriented economy and moderate free–market trading, it has a diverse and sophisticated services industryi. Although
undergoing extensive makeover, the financial sector provides local businesses with a wide variety of products and is successfully bringing in new

Some of the effects that have taken place from this urban migration is the poverty and unlivable conditions of the favelas and the social divide that have
put into question the priories of the governmental policies and their spending; as well as the pacification processes introduced by the police that has
had negative outcomes, where many see the new laws put in place as another way for the civilians to be oppressing rather than improving the
unemployment issuesvii. These structural constraints are not helping address the issues of urban inequity, but rather feed into the social and economic
divide that are creating instability in the region, which stigmatizes any responses to development, rather than encouraging equality.
The issues surrounding the rapid economic growth without consequentially addressing the injustices due to the structural constraints were left
unchallenged in Brazil for a long timeviii. Problems like this have existed for over hundreds of years due to its history of slavery, racial mixing and
other patriarchal issues, but as the country has progressed in financial sectors its economic and social complexities have remained stagnant, and the

Social Marketing
Of the hundreds of named brand clothing that form part of the retail and fashion industry I chose to compare, for my analysis, Abercrombie & Fitch,
Forever 21, American Eagle, and H&M. These stores are prominent, well–known for selling apparel, shoes, and accessories by the means of offering
sales and promotions to their customers. This is a clever strategy for attracting customers, allowing them to believe that they bought goods at affordable,
convenient prices – and not to mention the prestigious name prescribed to the clothing brands. Using keyhole.co as my main source, I obtained
relevant and valuable information regarding the status of these brands. My intentions were to compare a period of 14 days, however, due to the
limited access that I received from my free trial, the program only allowed me to see fewer of the dates than I anticipated. I want to take this
opportunity and mention ahead of time that due to the various and distinctive products that are sold from these stores, when looking for the "spending
capacity" I decided to focus on shirts/ jeans for men and women and compare the prices among them since each of these retailers carry those items and
as a way to make this report easier to contrast and comprehend. Also, when approaching the section of "setting", I screen–shotted some of the images
on Instagram and made them into a collage to separate the type of clothes and trends that each of these brands sell currently. In the following modules

Urban Outfitters Case Summary
Urban Outfitters inappropriately handled this crisis because the company maintained that this controversy was only a misunderstanding, and therefore
lied to the public about the initial motivation to sell this unethical product. As a matter of fact, Urban Outfitters justified its choice of selling this "one

from the original shade of the shirt and the holes are from natural wear and fray". In this case, the firm minimized its responsibly by denning its initial

The company was not honest by denying and justifying instead of purely apologizing. The public perceived the brand's crisis response as dishonest
and as a lie. Indeed, instead of lessen the public outrage, the company's response worsen the crises. For example, customers used the initial response as
an opportunity to attack and accuse the company. The statement was perceived by the customers as the "worst apology ever". Additionally, the public
wrote tweets such as "Congrats, Urban Outfitters. You've crafter the most insincere apology and the least believable explanation in the same statement".
As Coombs explains "inaccuracies make an organization look inconsistent". In fact, the public wanted accurate information about what happened, but
Urban Outfitters failed to disclose a transparent statement and hence delivered an empty apology by obligation. Experts advise that "it is appropriate
to express regret. Expressions of concern help to lessen reputational damage". Neither concern nor sympathy was expressed to the victims in its

Introduction
Financial ratio's / accounting ratio's are best described as being "the relative magnitude of two or more selected numerical values taken from an
enterprise's financial statements (Libby, Libby, Libby & Short, 2011)," in order to evaluate the overall financial condition of a business. Whether
they are viewed by stakeholders within a firm, or current and potential stakeholders outside of the enterprise, financial ratios can used to compare the
strength of a company against its own performance objectives, or in comparison to those of its leading competitors within the industry. In this paper,

As can be seen in the Debt/Equity comparison chart above, Urban Outfitters has the lowest Debt/Equity ratio of the three, which means that instead of
having to use its scarce resources to pay back high levels of principal and interest on its long–term financial obligations, it can instead return a higher
percentage of its revenue for the period to its shareholders. An action that rest assured will be reviewed very positively by stakeholders and investors in
the company.

Profitability ratios provide insight into how much profit a company generates with the money that shareholders have invested in the company. Profit
margin, return on equity, and earnings per share are all forms of profitability ratios (Stocks Simplified, 2011). With its 10.9% profit margin ration,
Urban Outfitters is substantially more effective than American Eagle Outfitters at controlling its costs. Calculated as net income divided by revenue,

The clothing was meant to reflect the freedom of the people who shopped there. Over time Free People became Urban Outfitter. Dick's wife was in charge of the development of Urban Outfitter's private label that consisted of products exclusively sold at Urban Outfitters. Due to the overwhelming needs, wants, and demands, they agreed to create a wholesale line. Once they realized it's success they made the decision to branch out in two separate businesses, giving Free People life again. The three main challenges when setting up a business are: cash flow, product supply and demand, and human resources. Give three examples of retailers who have done this. There are three areas in which a niche player can chip away at a larger competitor's base: go after a different way of delivering a product; provide a premium product or service; and specialize in a one product line. Barnes and Noble Bookstores deliver their product in a specialized way. This bookstore offers a wide variety of books for the reader; it would be very rare for a customer to be unable to find a particular book. One can sit in a living room type atmosphere read their purchase while having a cup of cappuccino or espresso. Second Hand Books is a chain offering pre–owned books at a greatly reduced price. • 12. Identifying Branding And Rebranding : Overview Assessing Branding and Rebranding Kalyn Barnoski Graphic Communication II Teresa Valero May 4, 2015 What is a Brand When people are asked, "what is a brand?," Many things come to mind. They think brand is equivalent to a logo. Once upon a time, brands were simply a mark to tell the difference between 'yours from mine', but since the olden days of branding cattle and differentiating belongings, things have changed quite a bit. "In reality, a brand is like an iceberg. The tip is the most obvious and visible part – the logo – but most of the iceberg is actually under the surface; the strategy, service offering, culture, experience and other aspects which all contribute to the overall brand." –Millward Brown, The Disappearing Iceberg. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The brand is the service that is offered It is not just about the product or company, itself, that one must have the capacity to offer the consumers it is targeting, but it is also about how you offer it. The experience and interaction of the consumer is something of vital importance in taking the brand that one is trying to create a surrounding idea and experience for, from a place that singularly is around to sells things, to something much, much more than that: an engaging partnership between company or product and consumer, a life changing, passion igniting icon amongst the crowd. The brand is the people who you integrate into your company Your employees are the most important people to your brand. If they are not on your side or not a huge influence on the character of the company, the brand experience that the company or product is trying to creat falls flat. It is the job of your leadership to inspire your employees to live the brand in everything that they do. A good, nay, great example of a brand that no only has influential design, but arguably has also one of the most successful employee versus brand relationship, along with a very strong employee morale within the company is none other than IBM.

Most of their customers walk to the store rather than drive there. The outside of the store looks very clean and modern. It is made out of glass windows, so you can see into the store from the outside. The glass is clean and I assume that they clean it daily because it always looks clean when I pass the store. I think that it looks very inviting because of the modern look that it has. The front door is very clean and the entryway into the store is also clean. The store is very well designed. I feel like all of the items are priced pretty well. I did not see any sales rack, which is not surprising because this store tends to be pretty highly expensive. I think that the staff is really engaged and they are trying to help the customer find anything that they may need. I was greeted right away right when I walked into the store. I think that there suggestions were pretty helpful. I told them I was looking for something for my sister and they directed me towards something that she may like. They are dressed in regular clothes that you may be able to find inside the store. I thin that they are very professional looking. I did not purchase anything in the store. I think that the store was pretty busy and it was very exciting and inviting. It smells nice, but I do not think that I would hang out in there for fun. The purpose was to see how each of the two industries website appeals to three company stakeholders which include employees, customers, and the media. Urban Outfitters is an American multinational clothing corporation while Trader Joe's is an American privately held chain of specialty grocery stores. Employees and customers are viewed as primary stakeholders, meaning they are fundamental to a company's operations and survival. Trader Joe's website points out that their products will say on them if they meet any of these dietary needs, it is just up to the customer to look for them. Their website also provides links for customers to use to help answer any questions they may have. These links are located on the bottom of their website and are labeled "Contact Us, FAQs, and Sitemap." This allows customers to search for answers or to be able to call a person and ask them a question. • 16. Urban Outfitters : A High Street Fashion Brand The internationalisation of retailing is defined by Treadgold (Wigley et al, 2005) as having "visible" and "invisible" dimensions. The Invisible dimension has been defined as the international sourcing of products and services and the cross–border transfer of management expertise in the form of managerial policies or technical skills (Kacker, cited Wigley et al 2005). This refers to the aspects of the business which are intangible, such as marketing knowledge. On the other hand, for the visible dimension, the fashion retailer's internationalisation is the operation of retail shops within foreign markets (Hines & Bruce, 2001). In this essay I will outline why I believe Urban Outfitters, a high street fashion brand, should expand its international presence by suggesting possible areas for internationalisation. Urban Outfitters (UO) operate 130 stores in USA, Canada and Europe and have made early steps to move into Asia. I also aim to discuss which brand strategy should be developed and whether alternative retail channels should be used to facilitate this expansion, focusing on the customer as a key ingredient for organisational success. I will be looking at UO's existing international presence as well as considering further growth. I will be looking at a number of issues and complexities which impact on the internationalisation of retail brands, particularly the impact these factors have on the fashion industry and how the brand can alleviate ethical concerns. For this I will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. American Eagle : Saturated The United States Market? Essay vAmerican Eagle; Saturated the United States Market? Introduction I chose American Eagle Outfitters to focus on and research for the following project. American Eagle was founded in 1977 as a segment of another brand and was officially released and incorporated to the public as their very own brand in 1991 (American Eagle Outfitters Inc., History). American Eagle Outfitters is a casual clothing line that is geared towards teenagers and people in their early twenties. Their products are outdoor–based and they are a lifestyle brand. AEO sells both women and men's products. The items they sell include, but are not limited to: jeans, joggers, jewelry, underwear, socks, jackets, mittens, hats, scarves, graphic tees, dresses, skirts, polos, button ups, etc. There are American Eagle stores in the following countries: China, Egypt, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Jordan, United States, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mexico, Morocco, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Thailand & United Kingdom (International Stores, AE). The reason I chose this company is because it is actually a company that I used to shop at when I was in high school. I have noticed since then, that their sales figures have decreased drastically and they have become quite unappealing to the public. After learning in class about companies that could potentially go international, and reasons why, I felt as if American Eagle would be a good company to research. It seems as if they have ... Urban Outfitters : A Part Of The Urbn Brand Urban Outfitters was founded in 1970 by 23–year–old Richard (Dick) Hayne and his college roommate, Scott Belair, who came up with the idea to open a retail store. The first location was a small space called Free People and was located across the street from The University of Pennsylvania. According to URBN.com, the original mission of the company was "to provide second–hand clothing, furniture, jewelry and home decor for college–aged customers in a casual fun environment." Since then, Urban Outfitters has evolved and expanded tremendously with over 200 stores in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Urban offers various retail items that include a variety of women's clothing, men's clothing, accessories, home products, beauty products, and music while keeping its focus on creativity and cultural understanding for like–minded, creative individuals. Urban Outfitters is a part of the URBN brand which also consists of retail stores Free People and Anthropologie. The brand does a great job of engaging its customers through its marketing mix, social media, events, community involvement, and entrepreneurial opportunities. In this paragraph, I plan on discussing the pros and cons of expanding American Eagle Outfitters to this region and if it would be an overall good choice for the company. If there is one thing that is important to a company, it would definitely be sales. What is a business without sales? According to this article that I found, provided by Boccaccio, Brazil's retail sales per capita have sky rocketed within the past couple of years. "Retail sales per capita in Brazil (#1 in the Index) have grown 12% per year for the past four years to reach $5,514, the third largest of the countries ranked in the GRDI. The retail market size increased 15% last year, and consumer–spending ahs increased by 9% per year since 2007. In 2011, retail sales accounted for 70% of Brazil's consumer spending" (Boccaccio). If of all consumer spending, 70% was spent on retail sales, that is a lot of retail shopping! When I first starting shopping on the Urban Outfitters website, I was madly in love with EVERYTHING I saw in both the women 's section and the apartment section. Urban Regeneration And Urban Development INTRODUCTION: This dissertation is influenced by the ongoing urban regeneration and urban developments in many of the major cities in India, especially in city of Pune, and its adverse effects on the city townscapes and place identities. City of Pune has a rich education legacy and has been often referred as the 'Oxford of the East', a legacy which came into prominence on the establishment of the University of Pune in the year 1949 (Hindustan Times, 2012). Pune, being an educational hub of India by having one of the India's oldest University (Maharashtra Tourism, 2013), has now been transformed into a major manufacture and production hub as well as has improved in educational sectors like research institutes for information technology, management, architecture and engineering that attract students and professionals internationally (SCHEMCON, 2015). With the inception of international influences and urban planning techniques, it has been realized that the old heritage and culture, the core Pune identity is slowly been taking a blow. The urbanization has been transforming the urban townscapes of Pune into completely new dimensions thus hampering the glorious heritage and cultural identity for which the city of Pune is known for. • 40. The American Eagle Ethos Motivation drives us to accomplish our goals in life. A simple sentence such as "I can get through this day." or "I can become president." turns into the driving factor that helps us reach our destination. We all have used the "I can" statement and American Eagle has taken that statement to the next level in their #WeAllCan Campaign. The minute long video features a cast of celebrities in different settings throughout New York like Coney Island wearing a casual style of clothing. Black and white scenes intertwine with color scenes throughout the video, with even a vintage style of film shown. Through the credibility of the cast, the American Eagle Campaign effectively appeals to a target audience of millennials. The campaign uses pathos to create a cause of individuality and speaking out, but only uses those celebrities in a stereotypical way to sell the brand of clothes. This advertisement features a group of well–known millennials from our generation that give an immense amount of credibility to the commercial. It has role models of social media, music, television, and the fashion industry. Some actors that appear frequently are Troye Sivan, an out of the closet gay musician, Hailee Steinfeld, famous actor of Blackish, and Cody Christian, the recurring actor from Pretty Little Liars. The Growth Of The Brazilian Economy As the largest economy in Latin America and seventh largest (by nominal GDP) in the world, the Brazilian economy is experiencing many positive effects, characterized by it's inward–oriented economy and moderate free–market trading, it has a diverse and sophisticated services industryi. Although undergoing extensive makeover, the financial sector provides local businesses with a wide variety of products and is successfully bringing in new entrants, creating an upturn in the economy, and furthermore incentivizing rural inhabitants to move to the more urban spacesii. Some of the effects that have taken place from this urban migration is the poverty and unlivable conditions of the favelas and the social divide that have put into question the priories of the governmental policies and their spending; as well as the pacification processes introduced by the police that has had negative outcomes, where many see the new laws put in place as another way for the civilians to be oppressing rather than improving the unemployment issuesvii. These structural constraints are not helping address the issues of urban inequity, but rather feed into the social and economic divide that are creating instability in the region, which stigmatizes any responses to development, rather than encouraging equality. The issues surrounding the rapid economic growth without consequentially addressing the injustices due to the structural constraints were left unchallenged in Brazil for a long timeviii. • 42. Comparing Abercrombie And Fitch, Forever 21, American... Social Marketing Of the hundreds of named brand clothing that form part of the retail and fashion industry I chose to compare, for my analysis, Abercrombie & Fitch, Forever 21, American Eagle, and H&M. These stores are prominent, well–known for selling apparel, shoes, and accessories by the means of offering sales and promotions to their customers. This is a clever strategy for attracting customers, allowing them to believe that they bought goods at affordable, convenient prices – and not to mention the prestigious name prescribed to the clothing brands. Using keyhole.co as my main source, I obtained relevant and valuable information regarding the status of these brands. My intentions were to compare a period of 14 days, however, due to the limited access that I received from my free trial, the program only allowed me to see fewer of the dates than I anticipated. I want to take this opportunity and mention ahead of time that due to the various and distinctive products that are sold from these stores, when looking for the "spending capacity" I decided to focus on shirts/ jeans for men and women and compare the prices among them since each of these retailers carry those items and as a way to make this report easier to contrast and comprehend. Also, when approaching the section of "setting", I screen–shotted some of the images on Instagram and made them into a collage to separate the type of clothes and trends that each of these brands sell currently.
