5. PLAN FOR DAY OF SHOOTING
■ We scheduled everyone to meet at Redbridge station for 10:15am as we knew that we
would need some time to set up all the equipment etc. Furthermore even though we
planned how we were going to film with regards to the shots we are going to take, we
need to visually see how we are going to position the characters on the set. Also,
when we arrive at the location we want to be able to observe our surroundings in
order to make sure there are no people on the train track. We decided to make sure
we arrive at the station for 10:15am as we think this will help us avoid rush hour so
that we can have the platform to ourselves for as long as possible. Before recording
we want to make sure the actors go over the script so that they don’t have to
constantly stop during filming for them to run over their lines, this will avoid time
wasting. This shooting will be our first day of filming therefore we will not be able to
focus on filming the full scene. Instead we will just be experimenting with the
camera and see what will work and what won’t and what shots will look better.
6. THE OUTCOME/ AFTER FILMING
■ After shooting I saw that the cinematographer (Tanika) was good at experimenting
with the different shots I as the director showed her on the shooting script. This
made it easier for the editor to have the most clean and efficient footage in order
to proceed with the editing. The different shots which were taken were beneficial
in aiding us form our production the way I planned and help depict the right
emotions in order to meet the codes and conventions of our genre.
■ By planning the days we are going to film and how, it helped us become more
prepared for anything bad or unexpected turnouts as well allowing us to utilise
our time well to produce sufficient footage, allowing us to have our production
ready by the set deadline.
