Moving his rocker back by the pot Sly tries to relax. After a long wait and a couple of short naps,
the cloth is dry. Removing it from the rope Sylvester folded the now red cloth into a bolt and lays

One of the helpers had made a slender rope out of the same material used in the bag. Picking up
the rope Sylvester guides it through the loop at the top of the bag. Going all the way around it
comes out just two centimeters from where it went in. When someone pulls the both ends of the
rope, he bag closes the bag so nothing will fall out. . Now was the time for the big test, time to
put something in the bag and see if it will work as he planned. Tying the rope to the top of two
chairs so it would stay open, Sly stands with his hands resting on his hips, looking around the lab
for something to put in the bag. First, in the bag, is a softball, then a tricycle. Picking up a
football, he tossed it in, along with a baseball glove and bat. Standing on a short stool the wizard
looks in the bag and said, "OH MY, OH MY, Where are they?"
To see the bottom of the bag, he needed a lamp. There, on the bottom of the bag are five little
items the size of a stamp. Untying one rope from a chair, he reaches in. Taking out one small item,
and set it on the floor. POOF! It grew, to the same size as before.
Next, he would try to find the tricycle, then the bat and the ball. POOF! They returned to their

The book I read was the wizard of Oz, written by Frank Baum. This classic novel contains several
major themes, self sufficiency, the importance of life's journey and friendship.
The first theme of self sufficiency is illustrated throughout the story. All of the main characters,
Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion are looking to the wizard to solve their
problems. The Scarecrow is in search of a brain. Although he is constantly making remarks on how
stupid he is actually solving the groups problems that arise. For example when the Wicked Witch of
the East sends angry bees after Dorothy and her friends, he comes up with the solution to cover
Dorothy, ToTo and the Lion with his straw so they would not be stung. The Tin Man is

I think the second theme is the importance of the journey. The importance of the journey can be
symbolized by the yellow brick road. Throughout the novel Dorothy travels along the yellow
brick road on her journey to get home to Kansas. Similar to real life she meets new people, makes
new friends and has new experiences. Life is full of issues just as the yellow brick road was full of
unexpected obstacles. there were holes, dark forests and dangerous rivers. Encountaring experiences
both difficult and enriching are the substance of learning about yourself and you relation to others.
Dorothy's escape from the Wicked Witch Dorothy motivates her to keep on with her attempt to get
home. Dorothy had to overcome these obstacles just as we have to overcome obstacles that
happened to us as we journey through life.
The final theme of the wizard of Oz is the need for friendship. In Kansas Dorothy lacks friends other
than her trusting companion ToTo. However in theland of OZ Dorothy makes new friends who
provide her with companionship emotional support and protection. The scarecrow, the Tin Man
and the lion help Dorothy cross rivers, battle angry bees and wolves, and save her from sleeping
forever in the field of poppies. In return her friends rely on Dorothy to get them to the Wizard of
OZ.. In a munchkins home the author states "the woman now gave Dorothy a bed to sleep in, and
Toto lay beside her, while

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a fictional adventure/fantasy that was written by L. Frank Baum in
1965. L. Frank Baum was born near Chittenango, New York in 1856. Frank grew up with a heart
condition so he couldn't play physically like other children so he developed a creative side, so he
decided to write stories.
The setting of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was set in with a happy society with some upsetting
problems. The story was set in the 1950's, the story started in Kansas and then it moved into a
wonderful place called Oz. Dorothy lived in Kansas and grown up with her Aunt Em, Uncle Henry,
and her loving pet Toto. But one day on the farm a tornado came and she was in her bedroom

While she was following the yellow brick road she met up with the tin woodsman, scarecrow, and
the cowardly lion and they all became great friends. They all traveled together because they were
all trying to find the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. During their trip they did run into some minor
complications and the main conflict was introduced when the wicked witch tried everything to
stop them from getting to the Emerald City. But then one day they finally made it to the wizard
and they told the wizard what they wished for and the wizard said that he couldn't grant any
wished until you get the broom of the wicked witch of the West. Finally, they achieved the
Wizards wish, so they got there's. The most exciting part of the story was when they found the
Emerald City and when they each had there wish come true. So when Dorothy gets to go home,
Tin man gets his heart, lion gets his courage, and last but not least the scarecrow gets a brain is
when the outcome of the plot comes into place. The ending of the story was very happy because
everyone got what he or she wished for.
The tone of the book changes within locations and characters in this book. The book begins when
she is in Kansas with her Aunt and Uncle and then she goes to the Land of Oz, and she was so
happy there. She didn't really want to leave because of all the friends she had made but then on the
other hand she missed her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. There was an example of pathos in this book

Examples Of Conflict In The Wizard Of Oz
In the Wizard of Oz the type of conflict is person versus self, with Dorothy as the protagonist, and
her unhappiness as the antagonist. For starters, the type of conflict is person versus self. In the
beginning of the movie it states that, "Dorothy is unhappy with her life, and wishes that there was
somewhere that she could go instead of being on the farm". When the conflict is introduced in the
initial incident, Dorothy is very unhappy with her life and sings the song "Somewhere over the
Rainbow". She dreams of another place, which is the land of Oz, and wants to be there instead of
where she is now, which means that she is the protagonist because she has the main problem. As the
storyline progresses, Dorothy realizes that, "Home really is

difficult to come by. Other than her own soldiers and the sly wizard Kator, no one had known
about the pendant. Kator was dead, which left only her own soldiers under suspicion, and Adenya
did not want to travel that road. She refused to believe that random chance had allowed the attackers

Archetypes : The Wizard Of Oz
The Wizard of Oz, is a classic fantasy that takes us to a world of fairies, dreams and childhood
memories. The symbols, characters and use of situational archetypes offer the reader an
understanding of Archetypal theory. Archetypes are used to impact the understandings of myths,
legends and fairytales as it allows the audience to make connections and link other stories together.
Furthermore, it helps in deeper analyzation, interpretation and connections in literature and show 's
the characters behavior or personality. Not only does identifying archetypes help the reader to
understand the morals of the story better, it also speaks to the basic human experiences and
communicates meaning and emotion in all forms of literature. The portrayal...show more content...
The Lion mentions "Melted! Well that is good news, indeed, "said the man "who melted her?" "It
was Dorothy" said the Lion gravely."(100). On her quest back home Dorothy learns about life 's
trials and successfully completes her task, while maturing and finding her new self–confidence and
understanding as she passes test after test. We can connect to this hero archetype because in our
lives we have come across an individual who has helped or saved us from a difficult situation or
problem. The devil figure in the novel was portrayed by the Wicked Witch of the West, she is
shown as the most evil and conniving character in the novel. She threatens to kill Toto and
Destroy Dorothy and her friends in order to obtain the silver shoes. This archetype connects to
our life because everyone has an individual in their life who causes some trouble or problems in
our life. Scott Francis points out that "Archetypes force us to delve deeper into them, characters
to see them as not just character I or Librarian but as a type of person who responds in very
specific ways to the conflict within your story". All the archetypes affect the storyline in minor or
major ways, such as the devil figure, without that figure in the plot, Dorothy would have never
been able to develop as a character. Themes are the key points of the story as they provide the
audience with a moral lesson or fundamental idea that the character in the story learns as a result of
the plot. There are many

What Is The Mood Of The Wizard Of Oz
The Wizard of Oz (1939) Known for the infamous ruby red slippers, The Wizard of Oz premiered in
theaters in 1939 by Metro– Goldwyn– Mayer Studios. The film came into production after director,
Victor Fleming, bought the rights of the novel and adapted the novel into a film. This classic
children's story encaptures Dorothy Gale's (Judy Garland) long, adventurous journey down the
yellow brick road in the land of Oz. As we follow Dorothy's venture home, Fleming holds the
audience's attention throughout the movie by incorporating an imaginative writing style and
frightful, yet hopeful tone to create an overall compelling story. Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland) is a
young girl growing up on a farm in gloomy Kansas with her dog Toto. When a tornado approaches
the farm, Dorothy seeks safety in her house as it is swept off of the...show more content...
Dorothy's solo when singing "Over the Rainbow" creates a wistful mood of longing for something
more exciting, but believing it will never come. The mood begins lightheartedly when Dorothy first
meets the Munchkins before taking an unforeseen turn with the arrival of the Wicked Witch. In the
words of the good witch, Glinda, Oz is "sometimes pleasant and sometimes dark and terrible."
Though the characters encounter scary events, threats are quickly dealt with and give the audience
the sense that Dorothy and her friends will remain safe.
Fleming's innovative techniques make this film one of the most popular and genius films of its
time. His original writing style sparks the inner child of the viewers and lets their mind wander into
the magical land of Oz. The Wizard of Oz stands as an example of one of the most remarkable films
ever produced. Fleming's distinctive storyline and characters can be used to inspire upcoming films
in Hollywood. It is without question as to why this cinematic masterpiece is one of American Film
Institute's top one hundred films of all

Similarities Between Wizard Of Oz And Wicked
Wizard of Oz and Wicked. Two very different stories both sharing the same characters and setting.
The two plots are so masterfully intertwined, but showing two very different points of view.
Although they share so many similarities, relationships and conflicts between the two are very
different. Glinda maybe isn't so good after all, Elphaba was just trying to do what was right, and
the Wizard was the real villain all along. To truly see things as they really are, both sides of a story
must be acknowledged and understood, or else someone else's story will be lost.
The Wizard of Oz is a classic known by all. The plot is fairly simple. Poor bored Dorothy is sick of
her normal boring life on her Aunt and Uncles farm in Kansas and decides to run away to a more
exciting life. Her plans are changed when she meets a fortune teller who convinces her to go back
home. Unfortunately, as she is headed back home a horrible storm starts and she and her dog Toto
are blown away, along with her house. When she lands, she comes outside to see that she has
landed on a person with red shoes. She is met by tiny people and a witch called Glinda who tells
her that she has landed on and killed the Wicked Witch of the East. Dorothy tells Glinda she wants
to go home, and Glinda tells her if she follows the yellow brick road she will end up in the Emerald
City where the Wonderful Wizard of Ozcan help get her home.
Along the yellow brick road, she meets a scarecrow who wants a brain, a tin man who

The Wizarding World By Harry Potter Essay
For years now, the wizarding world is desperate to tell many stories. While the stories of Harry
Potter and his band of motley misfits have entertained us for years, there are hundreds, if not
thousands of more tales to tell. Magic Works is a site that will hopefully be designed to make
people feel like they 're apart of a moving, breathing story. Monthly house points, quidditch, world
news, the Daily Prophet, Witch Weekly, elections for Minister for Magic. There is so much that
is possible in J.K. Rowling 's world, and I hope to bring it to life not just for myself, but for people
willing to help spin fantastical stories in this splendid world. I would like to capture the innocence
of the first novel, but also bring in the dark and adult themes we all so greatly enjoy writing.
The setting takes place in the United Kingdom, set after the doors of Harry Potter close. The canon
characters we 've come to love have all lazily drifted off into the somber life of retirement, their
children too evade the spotlight. And so the book has been shut, to be set and perhaps lost in the
dark annals of history. But a new one book opens–– a new cast has come to play in this wizarding
world. New friends, new professors. New allies, and of course there is always an enemy brewing.
Story–wise, I want the plot to be broad and members to create their own mini–plots. The staff will
occasionally step in to do something big, say a new outbreak of dragonpox or maybe the death of
someone important.

and that led to the release of the film adaptation, "The Wizard of Oz" in 1939. Even though the

Findings Paper Our research topic was on how influential the Wizard of Oz was and how its impact
changed the entertainment and dramatic arts industries. We decided to choose a topic that was
interesting and something that almost everyone would have some knowledge about. In our project
we addressed the characters, music, and the values of the film. The Wizard of Oz is one of the most
influential films in history. It was one of the first movies to be filmed in color and whole
production cost set a record at MGM studio with the movie costing 2.8 million dollars to make.
The success of this film opened so many doors for other movies. Something we also found to be
interesting was that The Wizard of Oz was the first videocassette tape released by MGM and CBS
Home Video nearly forty years after it hit the big screen....show more content...
Garland was only sixteen when she played the role, and to this day everyone knows who she is,
mainly because of her astonishing vocals. The ballad that sets the tone of the film, Somewhere Over
the Rainbow, played a significant part in the film. This song was almost cut from production
because the producers thought that it conflicted with the upbeat tempo of the rest of the movie. It
foreshadows the story that is about to take place. All the songs that are sung and the characters in
The Wizard of Oz have a deeper meaning to them. People could relate to the characters.
As years went by there have been many other film adaptations of The Wizard of Oz such as, The
Wonderful Land of Oz, The Wiz, Return to Oz, and Oz the Great and Powerful. There are also
many references to the famous tale today. There was a study at Northwestern University that showed
that there are over five hundred references to it in modern films

Compare And Contrast Essay On The Wizard Of Oz
In the movie The Wizard of Oz, based on the novel written by L. Frank Baum, the type of conflict
can be labeled as person versus self because Dorothy wishes she lived in a place where there was
no trouble, but she doesn't realize herself that there is no place better than home, which is the
main conflict. The protagonist of the story is Dorothy and the antagonist is Dorothy's thoughts
and wants, because Dorothy wants to live in a place where there is no trouble, a place over the
rainbow, and isn't conscious of how she already lives in a great place full of people who love her.

So Dorothy runs away. This is an example of person versus self because Dorothy thinks there is a
better place where there is no trouble, failing to realize that there isn't a better place than home.
Secondly, in the climax of both the movie and book, Dorothy, the lion, the tinman and scarecrow
arrive in Emerald City, and see the Wizard of Oz but in order for Oz to grant their wishes they have
to bring him the Wicked Witch of the West's broom. This goes along with the conflict because
Dorothy has to decide whether she's going to risk her life to get the witch's broom in order to
return home or find another way home. Lastly, in the denouement, Glindia shows up after the hot
air balloon leaves without Dorothy and helps Dorothy get home with the power of her ruby
slippers. This example goes along with the conflict because Dorothy couldn't realize there is no
better place than home by herself and that's why she couldn't go home because she had to realize
it for herself in order for the power of the shoes to work. So since she couldn't realize her she already
had what she wanted it took longer for her to get

In the movie, The Wizard of Oz, when Glinda said "She had to learn it for herself," the it was that
there is no place like home, she loves her family and they love her back, and she is satisfied on the
farm. First of all, part of the "it" Glinda was talking about is that there is no place like home. The
movie script states, "And I'm not going to leave here ever, ever again, because I love you all! And–
Oh, Auntie Em– there's no place like home!" This is one part of "it". Dorothy has learned that
Kansas is her home and that she loves her family. Dorothy says "there's no place like home," and
that was part of the "it" that she had to learn in order to go home. She needed to know there was no

Personal Narrative Essay: Wizard Of Oz
Without a single call from Tod with the topic of any sort of political trouble, my day had gone
almost flawlessly. In fact, as I am a bit ashamed to admit, that day was a lot of fun. First my father
and I went to the downtown area to see what was for sale. Rudpelt truly was the quaintest little
town I had ever seen. Everyone who lived there dressed a certain way, the way in which I had
noticed when we first entered, and everyone talked in the same way as the lady who ran the inn,
friendly, eloquently, and to the point. I used to think that New Francisco was the nicest place in
the world, but no, this place definitely was. After buying and changing into clothes that more
reflected the natives, my father and I inspected each of the shops. They had all sorts of places to
buy things, from music stores to ice cream parlors to bookstores, every one of them with their own
piece of individual charm. We ate some lunch at a drive–in, and once that was through, we visited a
drive–in movie theater. They played the original 'Wizard of Oz', produced by

A group of people standing around a fire, while sacrificing another person. This is the image that
comes to mind when I think of a cult. Why is that that I think of this image? Is it because of popular
cultures negative connotation on cults? There are many different non violent cults that exist. Yet,
our culture tends to focus and even emphasize the violent ones. This week I chose to watch The
Wizard of Oz, directed by Victor Fleming in 1939. In this essay I'm going to be looking at the
negative connotation given to cults, witches and witchcraft, and the effects of brainwashing and
deprogramming. Many cult movies seem to be portrayed in the same light. A problematic situation
occurs, and a resolution is needed. So, they turn to someone who is willing to solve the dilemma.
Often times the cult leader will be someone magnetic, and charismatic in order to lead
impressionable people (Thomas, 219). The leader will get followers to complete tasks that they don't
want to do themselves. Often using concepts of manipulation. Many situations result in some form
of evil, whether its death, or physical harm. Yet, is this always so? Do cults always base themselves
off manipulations and brainwashing? No, this is not the case. Our popular...show more content...
Yet, rather then brainwashing, often it's the power of influence in which people are controlled.
In the Wizard of Oz, we see the presence of a cult led by the Wizard himself. The people believe
in the powers of the 'Wizard,' and are willing to do anything he asks of them. "Manipulative
masters of psychological persuasions popularly understood as "brainwashing" (Thomas, 216)." It
seems that the Wizard has 'brainwashed' the people of Oz, as well as Dorothy and friends. They
too believe that Oz has the power to grant them the gifts they so badly desire. I consider almost all
of the characters to be highly influenced, or 'brainwashed' in this movie. This all occurs

United States: Houghton Mifflin Books for Children, 1968. 251 pp. "A Wizard Of Earthsea" is the story of how a young man named Sparrowhank became a great sorcerer, dragonlord and Archmage named Ged, once known as Sparrowhank. It is the first book out of six, in the fantasy series: "Earthsea Cycle", written by Ursula K. Le Guin. "A Wizard Of Earthsea" takes place in its own Earthsea universe. Removing it from the rope Sylvester folded the now red cloth into a bolt and lays it on the worktable Calling the tailor he says, "Marcus if you got the time I could use your help now." "Put the tea pot on the stove," Markus said. "I'll be there as fast as my short legs can get me there." After unlocking the door, Sly puts a large tea pot on the fire so they will have plenty of hot tea. Marcus knocks on the door, not waiting for the wizard he walks in. "What you got for me?" he asks Having all the measurement and a sketch on a sheet of paper Sly hands the information to the tailor, "We...show more content... One of the helpers had made a slender rope out of the same material used in the bag. Picking up the rope Sylvester guides it through the loop at the top of the bag. Going all the way around it comes out just two centimeters from where it went in. When someone pulls the both ends of the rope, he bag closes the bag so nothing will fall out. . Now was the time for the big test, time to put something in the bag and see if it will work as he planned. Tying the rope to the top of two chairs so it would stay open, Sly stands with his hands resting on his hips, looking around the lab for something to put in the bag. First, in the bag, is a softball, then a tricycle. Picking up a football, he tossed it in, along with a baseball glove and bat. Standing on a short stool the wizard looks in the bag and said, "OH MY, OH MY, Where are they?" To see the bottom of the bag, he needed a lamp. There, on the bottom of the bag are five little items the size of a stamp. Untying one rope from a chair, he reaches in. Taking out one small item, and set it on the floor. POOF! • 3. The book I read was the wizard of Oz, written by Frank Baum. This classic novel contains several major themes, self sufficiency, the importance of life's journey and friendship. The first theme of self sufficiency is illustrated throughout the story. All of the main characters, Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion are looking to the wizard to solve their problems. The Scarecrow is in search of a brain. Although he is constantly making remarks on how stupid he is actually solving the groups problems that arise. For example when the Wicked Witch of the East sends angry bees after Dorothy and her friends, he comes up with the solution to cover Dorothy, ToTo and the Lion with his straw so they would not be stung. The Tin Man is ...show more content... I think the second theme is the importance of the journey. The importance of the journey can be symbolized by the yellow brick road. Throughout the novel Dorothy travels along the yellow brick road on her journey to get home to Kansas. Similar to real life she meets new people, makes new friends and has new experiences. Life is full of issues just as the yellow brick road was full of unexpected obstacles. there were holes, dark forests and dangerous rivers. Encountaring experiences both difficult and enriching are the substance of learning about yourself and you relation to others. Dorothy's escape from the Wicked Witch Dorothy motivates her to keep on with her attempt to get home. Dorothy had to overcome these obstacles just as we have to overcome obstacles that happened to us as we journey through life. The final theme of the wizard of Oz is the need for friendship. In Kansas Dorothy lacks friends other than her trusting companion ToTo. However in theland of OZ Dorothy makes new friends who provide her with companionship emotional support and protection. The scarecrow, the Tin Man and the lion help Dorothy cross rivers, battle angry bees and wolves, and save her from sleeping forever in the field of poppies. In return her friends rely on Dorothy to get them to the Wizard of OZ.. In a munchkins home the author states "the woman now gave Dorothy a bed to sleep in, and Toto lay beside her, while Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a fictional adventure/fantasy that was written by L. Frank Baum in 1965. L. Frank Baum was born near Chittenango, New York in 1856. Frank grew up with a heart condition so he couldn't play physically like other children so he developed a creative side, so he decided to write stories. The setting of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was set in with a happy society with some upsetting problems. The story was set in the 1950's, the story started in Kansas and then it moved into a wonderful place called Oz. They all traveled together because they were all trying to find the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. During their trip they did run into some minor complications and the main conflict was introduced when the wicked witch tried everything to stop them from getting to the Emerald City. But then one day they finally made it to the wizard and they told the wizard what they wished for and the wizard said that he couldn't grant any wished until you get the broom of the wicked witch of the West. Finally, they achieved the Wizards wish, so they got there's. The most exciting part of the story was when they found the Emerald City and when they each had there wish come true. So when Dorothy gets to go home, Tin man gets his heart, lion gets his courage, and last but not least the scarecrow gets a brain is when the outcome of the plot comes into place. The ending of the story was very happy because everyone got what he or she wished for. The tone of the book changes within locations and characters in this book. The book begins when she is in Kansas with her Aunt and Uncle and then she goes to the Land of Oz, and she was so happy there. She didn't really want to leave because of all the friends she had made but then on the other hand she missed her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. • 5. Examples Of Conflict In The Wizard Of Oz In the Wizard of Oz the type of conflict is person versus self, with Dorothy as the protagonist, and her unhappiness as the antagonist. For starters, the type of conflict is person versus self. In the beginning of the movie it states that, "Dorothy is unhappy with her life, and wishes that there was somewhere that she could go instead of being on the farm". When the conflict is introduced in the initial incident, Dorothy is very unhappy with her life and sings the song "Somewhere over the Rainbow". Not long after the battle had ended, Adenya discovered that her pendant, the magical device that she used to communicate with her superiors was missing. The attackers who groped at her were not interested in her body but her pendant. She remembered their probing hands and wished she could hack them off. How could they have known about the pendant? What did they want with it? True it was magical, but its power was not difficult to come by. Other than her own soldiers and the sly wizard Kator, no one had known about the pendant. Kator was dead, which left only her own soldiers under suspicion, and Adenya did not want to travel that road. She refused to believe that random chance had allowed the attackers to find her pendant. • 7. Archetypes : The Wizard Of Oz The Wizard of Oz, is a classic fantasy that takes us to a world of fairies, dreams and childhood memories. The symbols, characters and use of situational archetypes offer the reader an understanding of Archetypal theory. Archetypes are used to impact the understandings of myths, legends and fairytales as it allows the audience to make connections and link other stories together. Furthermore, it helps in deeper analyzation, interpretation and connections in literature and show 's the characters behavior or personality. On her quest back home Dorothy learns about life 's trials and successfully completes her task, while maturing and finding her new self–confidence and understanding as she passes test after test. We can connect to this hero archetype because in our lives we have come across an individual who has helped or saved us from a difficult situation or problem. The devil figure in the novel was portrayed by the Wicked Witch of the West, she is shown as the most evil and conniving character in the novel. She threatens to kill Toto and Destroy Dorothy and her friends in order to obtain the silver shoes. This archetype connects to our life because everyone has an individual in their life who causes some trouble or problems in our life. Scott Francis points out that "Archetypes force us to delve deeper into them, characters to see them as not just character I or Librarian but as a type of person who responds in very specific ways to the conflict within your story". All the archetypes affect the storyline in minor or major ways, such as the devil figure, without that figure in the plot, Dorothy would have never been able to develop as a character. Themes are the key points of the story as they provide the audience with a moral lesson or fundamental idea that the character in the story learns as a result of the plot. • 9. Similarities Between Wizard Of Oz And Wicked Wizard of Oz and Wicked. Two very different stories both sharing the same characters and setting. The two plots are so masterfully intertwined, but showing two very different points of view. Although they share so many similarities, relationships and conflicts between the two are very different. Glinda maybe isn't so good after all, Elphaba was just trying to do what was right, and the Wizard was the real villain all along. To truly see things as they really are, both sides of a story must be acknowledged and understood, or else someone else's story will be lost. The Wizard of Oz is a classic known by all. The plot is fairly simple. Poor bored Dorothy is sick of her normal boring life on her Aunt and Uncles farm in Kansas and decides to run away to a more exciting life. Her plans are changed when she meets a fortune teller who convinces her to go back home. Unfortunately, as she is headed back home a horrible storm starts and she and her dog Toto are blown away, along with her house. • 10. The Wizarding World By Harry Potter Essay For years now, the wizarding world is desperate to tell many stories. While the stories of Harry Potter and his band of motley misfits have entertained us for years, there are hundreds, if not thousands of more tales to tell. Magic Works is a site that will hopefully be designed to make people feel like they 're apart of a moving, breathing story. Monthly house points, quidditch, world news, the Daily Prophet, Witch Weekly, elections for Minister for Magic. There is so much that is possible in J.K. Rowling 's world, and I hope to bring it to life not just for myself, but for people willing to help spin fantastical stories in this splendid world. I would like to capture the innocence of the first novel, but also bring in the dark and adult themes we all so greatly enjoy writing. The setting takes place in the United Kingdom, set after the doors of Harry Potter close. The canon characters we 've come to love have all lazily drifted off into the somber life of retirement, their children too evade the spotlight. And so the book has been shut, to be set and perhaps lost in the dark annals of history. But a new one book opens–– a new cast has come to play in this wizarding world. New friends, new professors. New allies, and of course there is always an enemy brewing. Story–wise, I want the plot to be broad and members to create their own mini–plots. The staff will occasionally step in to do something big, say a new outbreak of dragonpox or maybe the death of someone important. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

We decided to choose a topic that was interesting and something that almost everyone would have some knowledge about. In our project we addressed the characters, music, and the values of the film. The Wizard of Oz is one of the most influential films in history. It was one of the first movies to be filmed in color and whole production cost set a record at MGM studio with the movie costing 2.8 million dollars to make. The success of this film opened so many doors for other movies. Garland was only sixteen when she played the role, and to this day everyone knows who she is, mainly because of her astonishing vocals. The ballad that sets the tone of the film, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, played a significant part in the film. All the songs that are sung and the characters in The Wizard of Oz have a deeper meaning to them. People could relate to the characters. As years went by there have been many other film adaptations of The Wizard of Oz such as, The Wonderful Land of Oz, The Wiz, Return to Oz, and Oz the Great and Powerful. There are also many references to the famous tale today. There was a study at Northwestern University that showed that there are over five hundred references to it in modern films Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Frank Baum, the type of conflict can be labeled as person versus self because Dorothy wishes she lived in a place where there was no trouble, but she doesn't realize herself that there is no place better than home, which is the main conflict. The protagonist of the story is Dorothy and the antagonist is Dorothy's thoughts and wants, because Dorothy wants to live in a place where there is no trouble, a place over the rainbow, and isn't conscious of how she already lives in a great place full of people who love her. First off, in the initial incident of the movie, Dorothy's dog Toto was taken away by Mrs. Gulch in a basket, but he escaped from the basket and made his way back to...show more content... So Dorothy runs away. This is an example of person versus self because Dorothy thinks there is a better place where there is no trouble, failing to realize that there isn't a better place than home. Secondly, in the climax of both the movie and book, Dorothy, the lion, the tinman and scarecrow arrive in Emerald City, and see the Wizard of Oz but in order for Oz to grant their wishes they have to bring him the Wicked Witch of the West's broom. This goes along with the conflict because Dorothy has to decide whether she's going to risk her life to get the witch's broom in order to return home or find another way home. Lastly, in the denouement, Glindia shows up after the hot air balloon leaves without Dorothy and helps Dorothy get home with the power of her ruby slippers. This example goes along with the conflict because Dorothy couldn't realize there is no better place than home by herself and that's why she couldn't go home because she had to realize it for herself in order for the power of the shoes to work. Wizard Of Oz Research Paper In the movie, The Wizard of Oz, when Glinda said "She had to learn it for herself," the it was that there is no place like home, she loves her family and they love her back, and she is satisfied on the farm. First of all, part of the "it" Glinda was talking about is that there is no place like home. The movie script states, "And I'm not going to leave here ever, ever again, because I love you all! And– Oh, Auntie Em– there's no place like home!" This is one part of "it". Dorothy has learned that Kansas is her home and that she loves her family. Dorothy says "there's no place like home," and that was part of the "it" that she had to learn in order to go home. She needed to know there was no place like home before she could really go home. • 18. Personal Narrative Essay: Wizard Of Oz Without a single call from Tod with the topic of any sort of political trouble, my day had gone almost flawlessly. In fact, as I am a bit ashamed to admit, that day was a lot of fun. First my father and I went to the downtown area to see what was for sale. Rudpelt truly was the quaintest little town I had ever seen. Everyone who lived there dressed a certain way, the way in which I had noticed when we first entered, and everyone talked in the same way as the lady who ran the inn, friendly, eloquently, and to the point. I used to think that New Francisco was the nicest place in the world, but no, this place definitely was. After buying and changing into clothes that more reflected the natives, my father and I inspected each of the shops. They had all sorts of places to buy things, from music stores to ice cream parlors to bookstores, every one of them with their own piece of individual charm. We ate some lunch at a drive–in, and once that was through, we visited a drive–in movie theater. They played the original 'Wizard of Oz', produced by Metro–Goldwyn–Mayer, and it was a charm. The town seemed like a dream, it seemed like it couldn't be real, and yet... here it was....show more content... I was beaming like the sun, feeling recharged after our spectacular afternoon. "I think this is my new favorite place, ever..." I sighed, falling backwards onto my bed. "I agree," he noted. "This is one of the most charming places I've ever been. We need to visit more often, don't we?" Closing my eyes, just laid there, completely content. "Yes..." All of the sudden, I heard my phone's text tone go off. Picking it up from off of the bed, I turned on the screen to read what it had to say. It was from Tod. "Sylvia," it read, "Turn on the television if you're nearby to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Essay On The Wizard The next few days Santa and the elves practiced tightening and relaxing their muscles time after time until everyone can find that place to relax in their mind. Starting each session with the breathing and stretching routines everyone is feeling better about themselves. Moving the objects around the room takes up most of the next day. Using the old horn hanging on the wall, they worked out a game of Sunbeam musical chairs. Moving even the heaviest piece of furniture in the room, Sly's desk is easy for Santa to do. For Orrie and Orville, however, it takes a little more time before they can move something that heavy. The next big challenge, Sly explains will be to move someone else from place to place. Santa looks at...show more content... "This is amazing," Santa said. The elves are so excited they all they could say was, "Wow!" Turning to each other they touched knuckles. "Look," Isidone said, pointing to the southeast, I can see my house from here." "Ok troops, it is time for us to return to the lab," Sly said giving the instructions for their return. "Think of the inside of this building, put your right forefinger to your nose, and once again breathe out." Again, no sound just a few twinkles of light and they are standing inside the building. After several trips to the top of the building and to the right side and the back of the building, places where no one would see them when they materialize. "Now," Sly says, everybody, pick up your stool and hold it next to your body. Let's take it with us and go back to the top of the building, ready, go." Sitting on his stool as the other appeared, Sly said, "Welcome again to the rooftop" 'How did you get here so fast?" Orville asked. "Experience," Sly said. "Now let's go back. After a few more trips, Santa walks over putting his right hand on Sly's desk. Taking a deep breath, he touches his nose with his left forefinger, Santa and the desk disappear. Sly and the others touched their nose and the next thing they know they are standing next to Santa and the desk on top of the building, "Very good," Sly," said. "Now who wants to move the desk back Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Wizard Of Oz Research Paper A group of people standing around a fire, while sacrificing another person. This is the image that comes to mind when I think of a cult. Why is that that I think of this image? Is it because of popular cultures negative connotation on cults? There are many different non violent cults that exist. Yet, our culture tends to focus and even emphasize the violent ones. This week I chose to watch The Wizard of Oz, directed by Victor Fleming in 1939. In this essay I'm going to be looking at the negative connotation given to cults, witches and witchcraft, and the effects of brainwashing and deprogramming. Many cult movies seem to be portrayed in the same light. A problematic situation occurs, and a resolution is needed. So, they turn to someone who is willing to solve the dilemma. Often times the cult leader will be someone magnetic, and charismatic in order to lead impressionable people (Thomas, 219). The leader will get followers to complete tasks that they don't want to do themselves. Often using concepts of manipulation. Many situations result in some form of evil, whether its death, or physical harm. Yet, is this always so? Do cults always base themselves off manipulations and brainwashing? No, this is not the case. Our popular...show more content... Yet, rather then brainwashing, often it's the power of influence in which people are controlled. In the Wizard of Oz, we see the presence of a cult led by the Wizard himself. The people believe in the powers of the 'Wizard,' and are willing to do anything he asks of them. "Manipulative masters of psychological persuasions popularly understood as "brainwashing" (Thomas, 216)." It seems that the Wizard has 'brainwashed' the people of Oz, as well as Dorothy and friends. They too believe that Oz has the power to grant them the gifts they so badly desire. I consider almost all of the characters to be highly influenced, or 'brainwashed' in this movie. This all occurs Get more content on HelpWriting.net
