Movement what is_movement_why_is_movement_impo
1. Movement! What is movement? Why is movement important? What are different ways you move? What are different ways animals move? This unit we will be talking all about movement. The students are very excited about this and will probably be more than willing to share their knowledge with you as we move through the lessons! The students will benefit from this unit because we will not only be talking about different types of movement but also exploring with our bodies ways to move and learning to respect other's personal space. This lesson is a building block to all the other activities and lessons we will have this year. As the teacher, I will be sure to challenge all students in areas they may or may not be comfortable with. I will also be sure to let the students know my expectations of them. As the parent, I will need you to fully support our lessons by sending your child to school with proper athletic wear, and promoting healthy decisions at home. The students know that they are required to participate and to advance their skills and knowledge through different types of movement. We will be working in a project-based learning environment. Studies have shown that many students excel in a PBL learning environment and become more confident with the material with this form of teaching. The students will be assigned groups and they will work together to demonstrate different types of movement. For example, trees in the wind or a horse galloping. Each group will have 5 to demonstrate. I think the students will really enjoy this lesson ! ALEX Standards that will be met: 4, 12 Ms.Chenoweth [email_address] 256-508-3798
