Educational Philosophy
Educational Philosophy Writing my educational philosophy has required me to do an extensive amount of personal research that has taken me on
some wonderful, inward journeys over the past few months. Voyages through my cognitive and behavioral personas from the beginning of my
educational endeavor back in 1992 up until the present day. I have been digging diligently through my archives pulling out old papers I composed
regarding my initial views toward education. I have reflected on my days in the writing center at George Mason University as a composition tutor.
Plus, I evaluate myself in the classroom now as I teach at the local community college as well as in the local junior high and high schools for my student

This type of instructional method, and its varying implementations, provides the opportunity for each student to make a substantial contribution to
his/her team. This contribution is where learning occurs. I do realize that there is a large gap between research and practice, and I know that
cooperative learning is not a definite solution to my goals. What it provides is a means to a continuous labor of love moving closer to this goal,
not a means to an end. Therefore, as an ongoing task, research will evolve as will my classroom practice. But, I do see some implementation rules
that appear to be steadfast and help form my thoughts on constructing my future cooperative learning classroom. Room preparation is the first rule.
A classroom that I observed during a field placement assignment for Concord College had five, round tables with five chairs at each along with a
computer. The round tables were organized in a horseshoe shape with the teacher's workstation located at the opening of the "U". This was a great
example of how a cooperative learning room must be set up to enhance all forms of active interaction. The groups must be small and contain mixed
abilities as well as a combination of gender and ethnic diversity. Third, an award system must be established along with a format for tracking

Educational Philosophies Essay
Educational Philosophies Many different ideas of the correct educational philosophy exist. Highly acclaimed psychologists and educators developed
these varying philosophies. Each of these philosophies have their strengths and weaknesses and have their positives and negatives in different
situations. It is our job as educators to sift through this list of philosophies to find our own style and philosophy. We must research the pros and cons of
each philosophy and pick and choose which sections of each idea to take out and make our own. Our job is also to familiarize ourselves with the
philosophies that we do not agree with. So that we have a clear picture in our minds of what we want and do not want as part of our educational...show

This philosophy may teach children to read, write, and do arithmetic, but it will also teach them to detest school and dislike learning.
To correspond these complaints specifically to literacy learning, students will only learn how to read and how to write. They will not know why to
read or write. Nor will they learn what to read or write. Like said above, they will not learn to love the creativity of writing nor the excitement of
reading.
Behaviorism is the idea that behavior is learned and because of that all behavior can be unlearned and new behaviors learned in its place.
Behaviorism views development as a continuos process in which children play a relatively passive role. Behaviorists assume that the only things that
are real are the things we can see and observe. We cannot see the mind, but we can see how people act, react and behave. What people do, not what
they think or real, is the object of study. Behavior is the essence of a person.
I do not so much disagree with the general ideas of this theory. Behavior does impact learning and much can be learned about a child through their
behavior. Also, behaviorism has developed many excellent means of discipline and classroom management. However, the behavior is not the child. I
feel that a behavior is merely a cause of something else that is occurring within the child. It does not seem

Educational Philosophy
I have known my entire life that I would one day be a teacher. I have always been a leader. I have always felt as if I should be the boss, the one in
control. Just ask my parents. Then once I got the opportunity to counsel summer camps and be the volunteer assistant coach for a basketball team. I
knew my hear and my dedication was with children. So I am pursuing an education profession. I will be a teacher.
To educate is to teach or to instruct. I believe that definition is a bit vague. I will attempt to expand upon that. I believe that to educate means to enrich
or to further enrich the minds of all ages on subjects pertinent to growth. Also, to teach is to give...show more content...
Sometimes a set curriculum can't even be followed in an included classroom. The teacher has to work around the needs and knowledge of her students.
At the same time, the teacher cannot lose sight of her focus or curriculum.
I believe the overall purpose of a public education is to prepare children for a career and gradually build up their confidence to fulfill life's
expectations. Education is important for this very reason; it should be a stepping stone. Every step taken leads further toward a better life and a
successful career.
As a teacher, I hope to accomplish many things. First and foremost, I hope to show my students the importance of an education. I will show my
students the benefits from a successful education and the repercussions of a lackadaisical one. I hope to gain my students trust and their faith. I
hope the children can see me as a confidant. I hope to instill a desire to learn inside the hearts of my students. Let them be my guide in certain
areas. As the years progress, I hope to personally accomplish a feeling of satisfaction I want to be able to look back and have no regrets in my career
decision. I hope my students also walk away with a feeling of satisfaction, gratitude, and respect. I hop one day a student can tell me that I am their
favorite teacher. I hope the students walk away with the knowledge that they need to continue their growth.

Educational Philosophy I have an eclectic philosophy of education that I derived from a wide range of pre–existing philosophies. I identify most with
the philosophies of essentialism and perennialism. In my opinion, students should have a strong foundation in the core curriculum areas of English,
Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. After all, house built on a weak foundation will not stand. I also prefer the perennialist's approach of
studying the classics like Homer, Shakespeare, Milton etc. Everything in the present is a product of the past, for this reason I feel like the great
works of the past still have relevance today. I first realized that I had a desire to become a teacher when I moved to North...show more content...
Thus, eliminating the problem of students goofing off in the back of the room. Furthermore, this seating arrangement benefits those students that are in
the back of the class that often having difficulty hearing or seeing what's going on. It is more convenient for students to make the transition from
individual work to group work because they're already in groups. In regards to individual work or testing where cheating may be a concern, I will
have the students put up two folders as blinders. The students will stand two folders up at ninety–degree angles so that it makes a little cubicle around
them. As for bulletin, I plan to let the students be involved in the bulletin boards so they feel they have ownership in the class. In other words,
since they don't have control over how the class is run I will give them a reasonable amount of control over the bulletin boards. That way the kids
have a chance to express themselves as creative individuals. I look at this as almost an existentialist approach to bulletin boards. I plan to keep a
very organized and structured classroom. I will keep the computers in an appropriate location, possibly against an unused wall. I will keep my
supplemental materials put up in a closet or cabinet. At the beginning of each year I will seat the class alphabetically. This is a good idea because it
would reduce the number of social cliques. By allowing the students to choose their own groups, it would cause cliques to form and

Essay on Educational Philosophy
Educational Philosophy
Education is without a doubt the fundamental tool that shapes our society. Every thought, process, technological advance, and advancement in the
world would not have occurred without education. Presently, the educational system accounts for shaping today's youth into tomorrow's leaders and
giving them the tools they need to succeed in making our society expand. Consequently, today's educators have quite a heavy burden to deal with to
ensure that children properly perform their responsibilities. The world is an ever–changing place and as educators, it is our purpose to serve that ever–
changing world by giving everyone an equal opportunity to receive an education, and guaranteeing the lives that we touch will...show more content...
Much of a youth's life is spent in classrooms, which conveys how much of a role model the teacher plays in her student's lives. The teacher's actions
can encourage or discourage student growth and self–confidence, while providing them with an example of how they should behave. For example, I
believe teachers should never give up on their students or their abilities, and this positive attitude will make the students want to work harder to
succeed. Moreover, students will learn discipline in the classroom and it is the teacher's responsibility to make the students understand the correct way
to act in each circumstance. The teacher plays an endless amount of roles, all of which cannot be discussed, but all of which are essential to
accomplish their tasks in her classroom.
It is not important for students to walk out of a classroom knowing the formula for the area of a triangle, but it is of vast importance that the student
walks out of the classroom understanding why the area of a triangle is what it is and where the idea originates. Students need to feel that they are
learning something worthwhile and interesting. Their needs will not be satiated by memorization or repetition, but by creating their own knowledge
and understanding how this knowledge affects their lives. The teacher must find a way to make her subject matter come to life for the students. Since I
am a math teacher, I especially believe in the importance of student understanding,

My Teaching Philosophy Essay
My Teaching Philosophy I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and involves many more people than students and
teachers. People should be learning wherever they go, and should continue learning long after they've graduated from high school or college.
Education isn't something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead something that people carry with them. It's a survival pack
for life, and some people are better equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly anything, as they
will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs. That being said, I also believe that a crucial part of education does...show

The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the most important is preparing students to learn, not
only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore
different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is not a skill that can be memorized or made
repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are
not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an energized classroom, and will be reenergized
themselves. Every child is different. That sounds like an obvious statement, but so many ineffective teachers seem to forget this. Each student has his
or her own varying abilities, talents, and levels of competence, and it is the job of a teacher not only to recognize this, but to help each student
recognize this as well. If a child isn't doing well in a particular subject, both the teacher and the student should work towards figuring out why, and the
teacher should accept the challenge of finding a way to make a particular subject more

Philosophy Of Education Research Paper
My Educational Philosophy To describe my educational philosophy, I needed to combine two philosophers into one making it my own. I plan to
explain my philosophical view by discussing the purpose of public education in society. I felt that essentialism, popularized by William Bagley, and
progressivism, led by John Dewey, best described my attitudes and views towards education. I feel the overall purpose of education is to teach students
traditional academic subjects such as math, reading and writing, social studies, the sciences, music, art, computer science, health, and physical
education. These classes are the foundation needed by students to survive in today's society. However, I also believe that some students need...show

They need to experience activities outside of the classroom that are meaningful to them. Education is important for several reasons. One, it gives
children a strong academic background to compete in a technological society. Two, the educational setting allows students to interact and develop
socially. Three, classes give students the opportunity to achieve success and failure at different ages. Four, education allows for many different
experiences that help shape a child's personality. Five, education teaches children the need for discipline, rules, leadership, and responsibility. I am
sure everyone could add one or more reasons to this list but I felt these five to be most important to me. As a teacher, I hope to accomplish many
different things. I would like to develop a good rapport with my students. Helping them as much as possible before school, with math assignments or
listening to their problems, and after, by starting a math tutor program or chaperoning a school dance. I want all the students I have in class to achieve
some success to help build self–esteem and confidence. I know that seeing an "A" on my assignments or tests makes me feel good. I also want my
students to retain most of what they have been taught. I would feel disappointed if students failed to remember what I had tried to teach them.
Finally, I would someday like to be recognized as an excellent teacher. I feel that I will be able to do a good

Philosophy can be broken up into different components. The first being the purpose of education, second, the nature of knowledge the students has,
third the nature of the student, fourth the method that is used when teaching, and last, but not least the curriculum that is taught in schools.
I feel that the purpose of education is to create a better person as well as a better environment. Today, people need education more than ever, whether
its preschool, middle school, high school, or even college. If a person has an education, they will have better job stability, which means that wouldn't
lose their job. Technology gets better day by day. Jobs that required manual work fifteen years ago are now using...show more content...
This comes from grouping students. Foucault states that "power shapes knowledge and knowledge shapes power" and I could not agree more.
When Rousseau discusses the nature of human beings, I strongly agree with his idea that Children are born innocent. Unlike adults they do not know
right from wrong, so when they get scolded, they do not understand the reason for it. Over time, however, the child learns that when he or she get
"yelled at", they must be doing something wrong. As the child grows older and gets acquainted with the real world, it is hard for the child to tell right
from wrong. The child goes through a state of confusion when they see their parents doing one thing and their peers doing another. The child should
take into consideration both opinions of their parents and peer; but, do what they feel is the correct thing to do.
Methods of teaching varies so much from one teacher to the next. As a person who interacts well with others and prefers a study partner, you can bet
one of my methods is going to be group work. Group work helps students with social skills, learning skills, and communication skills. This could
really help a student who is shy with his or her classmates and hopefully the child will open up more to the classmates and to the teacher. Class
participation is also an important role in the classroom. I will have students

I did not spend my adolescent years contemplating what career I was going to choose and changing my mind every other week; I have wanted to be
a teacher my entire life. I do not know why I originally made the decision, but, currently, I want to be a teacher so I can give back to the world.
Deciding what subject to teach took a little consideration, but I made the decision fairly easily. I began comparing subjects I enjoyed and came up with
math, psychology, and home economics. After researching the job market, the choice to make was clear. This country is in need of math teachers, and
therefore, that is the path I have chosen. I plan to achieve my Bachelor's Degree here at Concord, and then...show more content...
What is important is their prosperity in life. I want to teach my students how to apply learning the distance formula to a real life situation.
Essentialist teachers serve as confidants and moral leaders for their students. I want my students to feel as if I am a trusted advisor and know that
I will help them in any circumstance. In my classroom, good behavior will be upheld at a high standard. Not only will I expect good behavior
from my students, but I will also serve as a role model to them both inside and outside of the classroom. I do not feel as if students can respect
teachers that have lousy reputations in the community. In high school, I had several teachers of whom I looked up to with moral respect. These
teachers influenced my life in ways they will never know, and I cannot thank them enough for all that they taught me about life. I hope I can have the
same positive effect on my students. Essentialists also believe that the teacher is an authority figure. Being a woman, this will be important for me
especially in my first years when I am only slightly older than my students and the same size, physically. If the students do not portray me as an
authority, I will not be capable of maintaining control of my classroom. I want to provide a balanced view of myself for the students. I want them to
perceive me as someone they can count on, and at the same time, someone they respect.

Educational Philosophy Teachers have the role of shaping students for tomorrow. They help them academically, personally, and socially. I cannot
think of any other career that would be as rewarding as teaching. A teacher has the opportunity everyday to change a student's life. One of the
reasons I want to become an educator is because I want to have a positive influence on a student's life. I think in today's society it's crucial for
students to feel like they have a positive role model. I have seen what a large impact teachers have made on their student's lives. That has made me to
want to strive and do the same. Another reason for choosing this profession is that I simply love working with children. I do not think...show more

It will honestly depend on which activity is at hand that the students are working on. I am a person who thinks that change can be very beneficial to
students. I plan on using all of the different types of seat work such as rows, a group setting, and even a semi–circle arrangement and have the students
surrounding me. I think all of these will help the students in the classroom. A group setting is important because students need to learn how to work
with other people. Using this variety, the students will not get bored with the classroom and how they are sitting. I also plan to frequently change the
students' work on the bulletin boards and the posters on the wall. This way the students will not feel like they are in the "same" room the entire year,
even if they really are. My view on an educational philosophy is an eclectic one because I have many different ideas. I think that my classroom
teaching styles will be both traditional and facilitating. I like change; therefore, I plan to change around the seating, work habits, and bulletin boards in
my classroom. The very first thing I plan to do in my classroom is to establish good control and procedures with the students. I think this is of great
importance because the students need to know where the teacher stands. One of the things I plan on changing is the seating arrangements. My seating
arrangement will match the type of instructional activities in which the students are

Then once I got the opportunity to counsel summer camps and be the volunteer assistant coach for a basketball team. I knew my hear and my dedication was with children. So I am pursuing an education profession. I will be a teacher. To educate is to teach or to instruct. I believe that definition is a bit vague. I will attempt to expand upon that. I believe that to educate means to enrich or to further enrich the minds of all ages on subjects pertinent to growth. Also, to teach is to give...show more content... Sometimes a set curriculum can't even be followed in an included classroom. The teacher has to work around the needs and knowledge of her students. At the same time, the teacher cannot lose sight of her focus or curriculum. I believe the overall purpose of a public education is to prepare children for a career and gradually build up their confidence to fulfill life's expectations. Education is important for this very reason; it should be a stepping stone. Every step taken leads further toward a better life and a successful career. As a teacher, I hope to accomplish many things. First and foremost, I hope to show my students the importance of an education. I will show my students the benefits from a successful education and the repercussions of a lackadaisical one. I hope to gain my students trust and their faith. I hope the children can see me as a confidant. I hope to instill a desire to learn inside the hearts of my students. Let them be my guide in certain areas. As the years progress, I hope to personally accomplish a feeling of satisfaction I want to be able to look back and have no regrets in my career decision. I hope my students also walk away with a feeling of satisfaction, gratitude, and respect. I hop one day a student can tell me that I am their favorite teacher. I hope the students walk away with the knowledge that they need to continue their growth. The methods of

  • 5. Education Philosophy Essay Educational Philosophy I have an eclectic philosophy of education that I derived from a wide range of pre–existing philosophies. I identify most with the philosophies of essentialism and perennialism. In my opinion, students should have a strong foundation in the core curriculum areas of English, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. After all, house built on a weak foundation will not stand. I also prefer the perennialist's approach of studying the classics like Homer, Shakespeare, Milton etc. Everything in the present is a product of the past, for this reason I feel like the great works of the past still have relevance today. I first realized that I had a desire to become a teacher when I moved to North...show more content... Thus, eliminating the problem of students goofing off in the back of the room. Furthermore, this seating arrangement benefits those students that are in the back of the class that often having difficulty hearing or seeing what's going on. It is more convenient for students to make the transition from individual work to group work because they're already in groups. In regards to individual work or testing where cheating may be a concern, I will have the students put up two folders as blinders. The students will stand two folders up at ninety–degree angles so that it makes a little cubicle around them. As for bulletin, I plan to let the students be involved in the bulletin boards so they feel they have ownership in the class. In other words, since they don't have control over how the class is run I will give them a reasonable amount of control over the bulletin boards. That way the kids have a chance to express themselves as creative individuals. I look at this as almost an existentialist approach to bulletin boards. I plan to keep a very organized and structured classroom. I will keep the computers in an appropriate location, possibly against an unused wall. I will keep my supplemental materials put up in a closet or cabinet. At the beginning of each year I will seat the class alphabetically. This is a good idea because it would reduce the number of social cliques. By allowing the students to choose their own groups, it would cause cliques to form and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay on Educational Philosophy Educational Philosophy Education is without a doubt the fundamental tool that shapes our society. Every thought, process, technological advance, and advancement in the world would not have occurred without education. Presently, the educational system accounts for shaping today's youth into tomorrow's leaders and giving them the tools they need to succeed in making our society expand. Consequently, today's educators have quite a heavy burden to deal with to ensure that children properly perform their responsibilities. The world is an ever–changing place and as educators, it is our purpose to serve that ever– changing world by giving everyone an equal opportunity to receive an education, and guaranteeing the lives that we touch will...show more content... Much of a youth's life is spent in classrooms, which conveys how much of a role model the teacher plays in her student's lives. The teacher's actions can encourage or discourage student growth and self–confidence, while providing them with an example of how they should behave. For example, I believe teachers should never give up on their students or their abilities, and this positive attitude will make the students want to work harder to succeed. Moreover, students will learn discipline in the classroom and it is the teacher's responsibility to make the students understand the correct way to act in each circumstance. The teacher plays an endless amount of roles, all of which cannot be discussed, but all of which are essential to accomplish their tasks in her classroom. It is not important for students to walk out of a classroom knowing the formula for the area of a triangle, but it is of vast importance that the student walks out of the classroom understanding why the area of a triangle is what it is and where the idea originates. Students need to feel that they are learning something worthwhile and interesting. Their needs will not be satiated by memorization or repetition, but by creating their own knowledge and understanding how this knowledge affects their lives. The teacher must find a way to make her subject matter come to life for the students. Since I am a math teacher, I especially believe in the importance of student understanding, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. My Teaching Philosophy Essay My Teaching Philosophy I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and involves many more people than students and teachers. People should be learning wherever they go, and should continue learning long after they've graduated from high school or college. Education isn't something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead something that people carry with them. It's a survival pack for life, and some people are better equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly anything, as they will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs. That being said, I also believe that a crucial part of education does...show more content... The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the most important is preparing students to learn, not only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is not a skill that can be memorized or made repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an energized classroom, and will be reenergized themselves. Every child is different. That sounds like an obvious statement, but so many ineffective teachers seem to forget this. Each student has his or her own varying abilities, talents, and levels of competence, and it is the job of a teacher not only to recognize this, but to help each student recognize this as well. If a child isn't doing well in a particular subject, both the teacher and the student should work towards figuring out why, and the teacher should accept the challenge of finding a way to make a particular subject more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Philosophy Of Education Research Paper My Educational Philosophy To describe my educational philosophy, I needed to combine two philosophers into one making it my own. I plan to explain my philosophical view by discussing the purpose of public education in society. I felt that essentialism, popularized by William Bagley, and progressivism, led by John Dewey, best described my attitudes and views towards education. I feel the overall purpose of education is to teach students traditional academic subjects such as math, reading and writing, social studies, the sciences, music, art, computer science, health, and physical education. These classes are the foundation needed by students to survive in today's society. However, I also believe that some students need...show more content... They need to experience activities outside of the classroom that are meaningful to them. Education is important for several reasons. One, it gives children a strong academic background to compete in a technological society. Two, the educational setting allows students to interact and develop socially. Three, classes give students the opportunity to achieve success and failure at different ages. Four, education allows for many different experiences that help shape a child's personality. Five, education teaches children the need for discipline, rules, leadership, and responsibility. I am sure everyone could add one or more reasons to this list but I felt these five to be most important to me. As a teacher, I hope to accomplish many different things. I would like to develop a good rapport with my students. Helping them as much as possible before school, with math assignments or listening to their problems, and after, by starting a math tutor program or chaperoning a school dance. I want all the students I have in class to achieve some success to help build self–esteem and confidence. I know that seeing an "A" on my assignments or tests makes me feel good. I also want my students to retain most of what they have been taught. I would feel disappointed if students failed to remember what I had tried to teach them. Finally, I would someday like to be recognized as an excellent teacher. I feel that I will be able to do a good Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. My Educational Philosophy Essay My Educational Philosophy Philosophy can be broken up into different components. The first being the purpose of education, second, the nature of knowledge the students has, third the nature of the student, fourth the method that is used when teaching, and last, but not least the curriculum that is taught in schools. I feel that the purpose of education is to create a better person as well as a better environment. Today, people need education more than ever, whether its preschool, middle school, high school, or even college. If a person has an education, they will have better job stability, which means that wouldn't lose their job. Unlike adults they do not know right from wrong, so when they get scolded, they do not understand the reason for it. Over time, however, the child learns that when he or she get "yelled at", they must be doing something wrong. As the child grows older and gets acquainted with the real world, it is hard for the child to tell right from wrong. The child goes through a state of confusion when they see their parents doing one thing and their peers doing another. The child should take into consideration both opinions of their parents and peer; but, do what they feel is the correct thing to do. Methods of teaching varies so much from one teacher to the next. As a person who interacts well with others and prefers a study partner, you can bet one of my methods is going to be group work. Group work helps students with social skills, learning skills, and communication skills. This could really help a student who is shy with his or her classmates and hopefully the child will open up more to the classmates and to the teacher. Class participation is also an important role in the classroom. I will have students Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Educational Philosophy Essay Educational Philosophy I did not spend my adolescent years contemplating what career I was going to choose and changing my mind every other week; I have wanted to be a teacher my entire life. I do not know why I originally made the decision, but, currently, I want to be a teacher so I can give back to the world. Deciding what subject to teach took a little consideration, but I made the decision fairly easily. I began comparing subjects I enjoyed and came up with math, psychology, and home economics. After researching the job market, the choice to make was clear. This country is in need of math teachers, and therefore, that is the path I have chosen. I plan to achieve my Bachelor's Degree here at Concord, and then...show more content... What is important is their prosperity in life. I want to teach my students how to apply learning the distance formula to a real life situation. Essentialist teachers serve as confidants and moral leaders for their students. I want my students to feel as if I am a trusted advisor and know that I will help them in any circumstance. In my classroom, good behavior will be upheld at a high standard. Not only will I expect good behavior from my students, but I will also serve as a role model to them both inside and outside of the classroom. I do not feel as if students can respect teachers that have lousy reputations in the community. In high school, I had several teachers of whom I looked up to with moral respect. These teachers influenced my life in ways they will never know, and I cannot thank them enough for all that they taught me about life. I hope I can have the same positive effect on my students. Essentialists also believe that the teacher is an authority figure. Being a woman, this will be important for me especially in my first years when I am only slightly older than my students and the same size, physically. If the students do not portray me as an authority, I will not be capable of maintaining control of my classroom. I want to provide a balanced view of myself for the students. I want them to perceive me as someone they can count on, and at the same time, someone they respect. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Educational Philosophy Essay Educational Philosophy Teachers have the role of shaping students for tomorrow. They help them academically, personally, and socially. I cannot think of any other career that would be as rewarding as teaching. A teacher has the opportunity everyday to change a student's life. One of the reasons I want to become an educator is because I want to have a positive influence on a student's life. I think in today's society it's crucial for students to feel like they have a positive role model. I have seen what a large impact teachers have made on their student's lives. That has made me to want to strive and do the same. Another reason for choosing this profession is that I simply love working with children. I do not think...show more content... It will honestly depend on which activity is at hand that the students are working on. I am a person who thinks that change can be very beneficial to students. I plan on using all of the different types of seat work such as rows, a group setting, and even a semi–circle arrangement and have the students surrounding me. I think all of these will help the students in the classroom. A group setting is important because students need to learn how to work with other people. Using this variety, the students will not get bored with the classroom and how they are sitting. I also plan to frequently change the students' work on the bulletin boards and the posters on the wall. This way the students will not feel like they are in the "same" room the entire year, even if they really are. My view on an educational philosophy is an eclectic one because I have many different ideas. I think that my classroom teaching styles will be both traditional and facilitating. I like change; therefore, I plan to change around the seating, work habits, and bulletin boards in my classroom. The very first thing I plan to do in my classroom is to establish good control and procedures with the students. I think this is of great importance because the students need to know where the teacher stands. One of the things I plan on changing is the seating arrangements. My seating arrangement will match the type of instructional activities in which the students are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
