Personal Finance Lessons Learned
While taking the personal finance course this past spring, I learned many valuable lessons that will
greatly assist me throughout my life. One lesson I learned is the importance of paying yourself first.
To put this into action, I will save money in an emergency fund to have enough money to live
comfortably for 3 to 6 months, in case of emergency. Furthermore, this course has taught me the
importance of budgeting. Using budgeting, I will make a plan for my money, so I can avoid over
drafting and bouncing checks. Another lesson personal finance taught me is to pay all bills and loans
on time to develop a good FICO credit score, which is what companies use to evaluate the risk of
loaning to an individual. Knowing this information will help me ... Show more content on

By using a CD instead of a savings account, I will be able to make more money off of the award due
to CDs having higher interest rates since the money cannot be withdrawn until the end of the term.
This would not be problematic for me because if I were to receive the award, I would use the money
for college expenses to invest in my human capital, so I would not need it for two years. Going to
college will give me a financial advantage in the long run because according to what I learned in
personal finance, people with degrees tend to have higher paying jobs. Additionally, with this award
and scholarships, I might get through college debt free. This too would be extremely beneficial to
my financial situation throughout life because I would not have to worry about paying off student
loans and could instead invest in stocks or in my retirement funds. Furthermore, I love volunteering
and giving back to my community, so I also want to invest in nonprofit organizations to help others
find their way in life and allow them the opportunity to go to college, get a well–paying job, and
hopefully continue the cycle of giving back. Therefore, the money from this award would benefit me
for the rest of my life along with the community I will invest

Soroptime Case Study
The Soroptimist International of Blythe will have their annual Health and Wellness Fair at the
Blythe Community Center on April 28. Submitting a request to the City of Blythe to waive fees for
this free community event at last Tuesday's Council meeting, council members unanimously
approved the organization's application. With recommendation from staff to waive all fees except
the $75 labor fee, which is a direct cost to the City and the refundable deposit of $125, the
organization saved a total of $315.
Sharing how extremely excited she was to speak before Council and to receive their approval for
using the building to host the community health fair, Vice President of Soroptimist, Amy Daniel

Daniel said, it is only because of those involved, the club is able to continue carrying out their
giving nature and offering this program to help people. She stated, "As Councilman Deconinck and
Leslie Jessop–Watkins further agreed to help the club with the labor fees, I was elated knowing
others were willing to help Soroptimist continue with this public service program, that has helped so
many people in the past. Their generosity is what gives our non–profit the ability to continue to help
others and serve our community!" Holding their first annual Health and Wellness Fair back in 1992,
Soroptimist International of Blythe has work dutifully to fulfill their purpose of giving back
generously while helping those in need. Bringing this beneficial fair to promote, motivate and

Graduation Speech On Service Learning
Many people value giving back as one of their highest priorities. We spent a huge portion of class
dedicating our time to service learning or planning for it. Not only did we give back to a local
agency, a Minnesota children's hospital, we gave back to an international agency, Masinyusane.
Giving back is important for everyone, especially college students. Service learning is a wonderful
opportunity to learn various new things that can be used throughout life. These service experiences
have opened my eyes to new ways I can volunteer within the community, giving me more
opportunities to learn and grow from. As I learned very quickly, it was very difficult to coordinate a
day that worked for all of us to volunteer together or as a group. It was no surprise that a group of 20
honors students, busy with sports, clubs, academic commitments, and other activities, had a hard
time fitting anything extra into their days. Although that was tough, I don't know what was harder:
picking a day that worked for all of us or deciding on the type of service we would do. After a lot of
dispute, we finally found something that worked for all of us: using our time in class to make tie
blankets. Before we even began our service to the community and to Masinyusane, I learned a lot
about compromise, planning, and being open minded. All of these are essential when it comes to
working in a group. It is constantly drilled through our heads throughout life that these values are
important, but it

Pleasantville High School Analysis
The author claims that students of Pleasantville High School should have a mandatory 40 hours of
community service as a prerequisite to graduation to provide assitance to local charities and help
them understand the importance of giving back to the society. This argument, is very broad and
relies on myriads of assumptions that may prove unwarranted. The following paragraphs are going
to iscuss the same and provide explanations for implications, against the argument.
Firstly, the author claims that in recent years teenage volunteer number has decreased even though
there is a much greater need. The author here is making an assumption that the need for volunteers is
NOT getting fulfilled and this is the reason that teenage volunteers are reduced. It could be possible
that there are volunteers of other age groups that are fulfilling the number required for such
programs and due to which teenagers, also due to lack of experience were not given a preference.
This would weaken the author's case that charitable organisations need more volunteers than they
already have.
In relation to thie above ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author does not take into account that teenagers have a lot of pressure doing well academically
and adding to it, the stress of doing volunteer work may not help the students but make it worse for
them. On the other hand, if Pleasantville High School does not hold a rigorous academic system,
and one does have lenty of time to do volunteer wrk on the side, forty hours of volunteer work may
not magically imbibe a sense of giving back to the sciety on the students. It may also be possible
that making an activity compulsory, students may take a dislike toward the whole idea of it. In such
a case, the author would be proved wrong that such activties will help students understand the
impotance of giving

Black Pre-Health Benefits
During my first year at UCLA, I had the opportunity to volunteer with the Black Pre–Health
Organization on campus to put together an annual youth festival for children living in underserved
communities within the greater LA area. Our goal during the festival was to promote healthy
lifestyles by teaching the kids, through interactive workshops and activities, the importance of good
nutrition and fitness. As a volunteer, I was able to interact with the kids and create a great bond with
many of them while providing tips on how they could turn an unhealthy everyday snack into a
wholesome, beneficial one. During the festival, we provided the youth with snacks, various health
resources and free hygiene products so that they could begin their new

Why I Deserve A Scholarship
I deserve to be a recipient of a scholarship because I am a dedicated and hardworking student who
strives to improve herself and learn from others each and every single day. I know the importance of
giving back to my community, so I constantly volunteer to help those in need. In addition, I am a
fighter who has never tried to be a victim of her circumstance.
As an immigrant child, I knew the importance of taking advantage of every opportunity I got.
Despite of the hardships and challenges I faced, I made sure I never gave up. Instead of adhering to
false stereotypes about immigrants, I sought a higher education and decided to attend Prince
George's Community College. I worked hard and whenever I faced any challenges, I turned to my

The Cheesecake Factory
The cheesecake Factory has an established code of ethical conduct that is needed to factor in
maintaining a balance in the human aspect of ethics and the link to the business success for The

how they address other employees and how they make important decisions to help the company.
Even though the areas of the Cheesecake Factory's code of ethical conduct is important for the

There's so many company's that try to trade things between each other. Plant's try to trade out the
back door more often than you think and if anyone were to get caught there would be in huge
trouble.
Key steps that a company should take, like The Cheesecake Factory could take in order to guarantee
the employees follow the code of conduct. First step is to have a customer service department that
takes care of all problems and investigates code of conduct issues. Another step that The Cheesecake
Factory can take to make sure the employees follow the code of conduct is to have all employees
sign the code of conduct when hired and to make sure the employees have a copy they can keep and
make sure to keep a copy in the employees file. Also need to make sure employee's get a handbook

One way that The Cheesecake Factory can engage in socially responsive activities in the community
like during Christmas employees could sign up to ring the salvation army bell. That's an awesome
way to give back to their community. Companies could donate food to the local food banks and

Sand County Almanac Quotes
"Conservation is a state of harmony between men and land... harmony with land is like harmony
with a friend; you cannot cherish his right hand and chop off his left" (Pg 189). In less than three
sentences, to me this quote summarizes everything that Leopold is trying to say in his novel.
Metaphorically, the quote is talking about two friends. In regards to the novel, Leopold is saying that
humanity cannot take and use the lands resources without making a conscious effort to replenish
them. The non–fiction novel A Sand County Almanac written by Aldo Leopold characterizes the
importance in loving, caring and understanding our environment, land and ecosystems that surround
us. Leopold emphasizes the relevance there is for humans to be conscience ... Show more content on

In the section The Land Ethic Leopold emphasizes the need for education, "perhaps the most serious
obstacle impeding the evolution of a land ethic is the fact that our educational and economic system
is headed away from, rather than toward, an intense consciousness of land" (p. 261). If people are
not aware of the seriousness that comes with land conservation, then how are they supposed to
change the way they are acting? There is a necessary need for humans to be conscience and aware of
land use and its importance, but there is no way for this to happen unless the youth are educated and
they continue to educate for generations to come. I believe Leopold is trying to say that those who
understand the land are the ones who should be spreading their education and knowledge to those
who do not. Passing on this knowledge of land ethic is crucial for the fate of the environment and
Earth. Leopold expresses, "a system of conservation based solely on economic self–interest is
hopelessly lopesided," (p. 251). The self–interest economists who are only interested in the profit of
which they gain from the land cannot spread the importance of the respect for the community. The
people who share a knowledge and passion for the environment will educate those who are unaware.
As well as being educated on the land, it is essential for humanity to understand that we are not
users of what Earth has to offer us, but associates,

Giving Back To The Community
There is a wide range of activities an individual can conquer by giving back to their community.
There are various demographics an individual can reach such as children and teenagers, the elderly,
the homeless and many more. As a younger individual, such as myself, I would face challenges by
reaching a broader community, however I would start off by helping my schools, district,
neighborhood, and social groups. After making my desired impact on my immediate community, I
will then go broad and publicize and vocalize more using social media as an outlet to expand my
community service ideas to a broader community.
Completing one's education is a goal, after achieving this goal, the ultimate goal should be to give
back to the community that has made one who they are. I plan on giving back to my community by
sharing my experience with others. After receiving my master's degree and completing my education
I will have immense knowledge on how to manage a business, because Business Administration is
what I plan on majoring in. I can use my knowledge to teach other aspiring business leaders or
students in a similar field. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

education, which caused them to believing school was not significant and that it was optional. I
believe in order to succeed and make a name for oneself you have to be educated. Encouraging
education among children and teenagers is something that should be given importance to, therefore I

The Importance Of Giving Back To The Community
After graduating with a degree in a specified profession, giving back to the community is one of the
most important tasks an individual can do to fully expand on their degree. After graduating college
as an educated person, giving back to society for me would include, joining community clubs such
as Kiwanis, Rotary, The Chamber of Commerce, and many more community bettering* clubs. My
responsibility as an educated person would be to go out into the real world and better the community
around me, building better foundations for businesses, creating a better town for people to live in,
and supporting a local charity in need. Assisting business owners in your community is one of the
most important attributes you can do when bettering the area

Sprouting Hope Research Paper
Sprouting Hope community garden is located in Hungry Mother State Park Marion, Virginia. During
the Emory and Henry's "Service Plunge" Dr. Davis' Transitions I class spent time volunteering to
weed the garden. The garden is run by Jason Von Kundra, an enthusiastic leader for this non–profit
organization. The garden allows low income families from the surrounding areas to have healthier
eating options by providing them with the opportunity to participate in growing their own food.
Sprouting Hope is an organization that exemplifies the traditions we as a country have lost. The
importance of eating healthy food has diminished over time. As a nation our eating habits are now
influenced by factors such as work, convenience and the overall fast pace of the twenty first century.
A community garden helps the people involved connect on so many levels. Food is an item that can
be connected to almost anything imaginable. This non profit garden allows members of the
community to work together and to watch their efforts succeed as the garden prospers. The idea of
the community garden is phenomenal. The main focus of the garden is for the volunteers to be able
to give back and to share their connections as well as the beautiful produce that results from their
efforts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

One of the main points Hernandez makes in his auto–ethnography is the oppression that surrounded
his environment. Another main point is the importance of giving back to the community and how
being part of it benefits an individual. Hernandez cites Freire and Noddings in his essay. To give
value and profoundness to his statement of wanting to expose the kids to their community, he uses
Freire Pedagogy of the Oppressed "change their perspective of alienation from what their new world
had to offer." He also shows through Noddings how some kids are unable to choose where to go, so
its essential for kids to have insight and voice in their decisions. Hernandez points out his family

Giving Back To A Community Analysis
As someone who strongly believes in the value of community, giving back is the least I can do.
From an early age, I was taught that giving back to others is one of the greatest joys in life. When I
was a child, my parents and I made care packages of cooked food and fruits and vegetables and
delivered them to people who were in desperate need in a slum of Tehran. Seeing their smiles and
eagerness to reach those packages was both the best and the worst feeling of my life. I made me
happy that I could bring smiles to their faces and maybe a little bit of hope to some families, but I
was saddened as I witnessed the tragic lives of so many people. Poverty is a challenge that faces
many, but it is hard to understand why when other people have so

Although all areas of the Cheesecake Factory's code of ethical conduct is important for the success
of the company, there are a few key areas of the company's code of ethical conduct that are of
significant importance for The Cheesecake Factory.
1–The first occurs in Article IV, in the "Conflicts of Interest," section that pertains to transactions
and investments. This specifically states that an officer or a director" should avoid participating in
any transaction or investment that conflicts with, or gives the appearance of a conflict with, the
interest of the company."(Reference 1) This is key in maintaining ethics because a person who is in

Social Work Personal Statement Essay
I attend Southern Illinois University Edwardsville which I study Criminal Justice. I am planning on
getting my Master's Degree in Social Work. I have a passion to help people, especially
children/youth. I noticed that I wanted to provide counseling and be looked at as a mentor to youth
back in high school. I volunteered at Chicago Youth Center (CYC) in Chicago, IL. There I helped
children from low–income, non–traditionally family backgrounds in swimming. I was a junior
lifeguard. I have taught children the importance of education, life lessons, and more through
swimming. I love being able to give back to the community and volunteer. Volunteering at YMCA–
Camp Pinewood in Twin Lake, MI taught me the importance of community involvement. I had to

Providing the youth with a clean environment helps them have a positive outlook on life and they
can have fun. I had to clean–up the camp site, build tree houses, paint, and more. I believe that

Personal Narrative: My Life In El Paso

Growing up I have watched how each of these communities have come together to support
individuals or families who have suffered great losses. This past summer, my school's new athletic
director passed away and many of the athletes and sports teams came together to help his family and

This value was one I have seen in my family as well, my mother used to tell my sisters and I that the
world is mean enough, we don't need to be mean to each other. Even from a young age, my mom

The Importance Of Giving Back To A Community
Winston Churchill once stated that, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what
we give." This quote suggests how one should view and understand his influence towards their
community. The impact is not simply made by receiving, but it is what one is willing to give back to
his community. Churchill stated this quote to get the public to serve back into their community. In
regards to the quote, I have given back to my community by sharing my time and services to my
church, my school, and organizations that I volunteer which has allowed me to develop as an
individual.
I provide volunteering and cultural services to regional organizations throughout the year. I provide
volunteer work for technical services at my church from 10:00 – 12:30 on Sundays. During this

Pregnancy Resource Center: Community Analysis
As nurses graduating from a college based on Mercy and Jesuit traditions, we are taught the value
and importance of serving those who are underserved and giving back to our community. We are
taught meditate and reflect before taking action. And, we are taught not to judge others but to openly
accept them as they are. These Mercy and Jesuit tradition values are also very important to the
Pregnancy Resource Center. The Pregnancy Resource Center states that "We serve you without
regard to age, race, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity,
disability, religious affiliation, or other arbitrary circumstances" ("Disclaimer"). The Pregnancy
Resource Center strives to not hold prejudice against any individual or group, rather, they freely
serve all those who come to them. It is through this belief that they are capable of serving the
underserved and giving back to the community. One of the reasons our particular volunteering will
be relevant to nursing is that we will be helping to spread information about pregnancy to those who
might be unaware of the opportunities and possibilities available to them. Through this volunteering,
we are helping to educate soon–to–be mothers on ways that they can avoid an abortion – saving the

Reflective Essay On Community Service
Community service is very important. Not only is it a that is present to everyone, it is also present
personally to you. I had not noticed this until an event so horrendous had to occur. When I was only
in fourth grade, Hurricane Sandy swept across the East coast and truly opened my eyes. My whole
house and belongings were destroyed, and I had to look at others for help. In this time of need, it
truly shocked me by how much people were willing to help you and work with you to get you

that helps so much. Some people––some like me as I was younger––don't realize how important it
truly is and how much it can truly help others. Along with my personal story, Maria Gatta was one
of those people who were the complete opposite of me before the hurricane. She valued community
service and helping others. Mrs. Gatta was one of the people that realized even the littlest things

In the film 'Whale Rider', by Niki Caro which follows the journey of a young girl named Paikea
Apirana and her struggle for acceptance as a leader of her Māori iwi, and especially her grandfather.
An important character in this film is Pai herself. This character has significant importance as she is
used to portray numerous important ideas and themes throughout the film. Pai helps me to
understand and appreciate that women can also be leaders that are equal to men if they have the
right attributes. The director Niki Caro uses numerous different film techniques to convey this idea,
such as; the camera shots and camera angles when Pai is giving her speech to Koro, the use of
camera angles and props in relation to the dialogue when Pai if fixing the motorboat engine, and the
use of props when Pai is teaching herself to use the Taiaha. The use of camera shots and camera
angles while she is giving her speech to Koro, helps to show Pai's important attributes which are
necessary for a good leader. One of these shots is the low angle while Pai is giving her speech. Low
angles are often used to give the focus object or person a feeling or respect, even if Pai is crying,
which shows that Pai is respected by the community. As she is crying during this scene, and the
director still chooses to use a low angle, consequently, this shows that she is a strong, powerful, and
resilient figure, which are especially important attributes of a leader.
Additionally, in this scene is a wide shot down the aisle of the hall, with Pai in the middle, and
framed by the audience. Furthermore, this exhibits that the community supports Pai, even at her
weakest and most fragile, while she is in tears on the stage. The support of a community is an
important attribute for a leader to have, due to the importance of leadership is not just being one
person, and is also the whole community. The camera shots and camera angles helped the audience
as well as myself to understand the importance of Pai and helped myself and the audience
understand and appreciate Niki Caro's idea that women can also be leaders that can be equal to men
if they have the right attributes The use of camera angles and props in relation to the dialogue when

College Admissions Essay: The Purpose Of Community Service
"Service is the rent we pay for being. It is the very purpose of life, and not something you do in your
spare time." This quote by Marion Wright Edelman beautifully expresses the strong feelings I have
towards service to others. I have always believed that giving my time to help others is my purpose in
life. Although it is important to focus on education, work, and school activities, community service
is just as important. Throughout High School, I have participated in numerous academic, service,
and extracurricular activities including band, varsity cheerleading, dance, and soccer. I hold several
leadership positions: section leader in band, secretary of Tri–M Music Honor Society and National
Honor Society, and officer of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I have enjoyed devoting my time to
several worthwhile organizations, including The Salvation Army, Zion Lutheran youth group, the
Cinderella Affair, Life–savers, and Fresh mentors. I am truly blessed and have had the honor of
being Homecoming Queen, an Illinois State Scholar, and Silver Medallion recipient. My freshman
year I had a serious cheerleading accident. I suffered a type three concussion and neck injury. With

opportunity to give back. The money isn't what is most important, but what I can do for others truly

There is a multitude of definitions of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). According to Business

It is about conducting business operations ethically and responsibly. CSR can be used positively to
help increase productivity and profitability. CSR has also been defined as taking a responsible
attitude, going beyond the minimum legal requirements and following principles that apply
whatever size the business is. nibusinessinfo.co.uk (2017). In summary, no matter how Corporate
Social Responsibility is defined, it goes beyond just following the legal requirements and giving
back to key stakeholders and society.
CSR isn't a recent subject as it has been a progressing topic since the 1950's, which has grown in
importance and impact. There is some evidence where businesses hundreds of years ago were
seeking to improve society, the community or particular stakeholder groups. This topic has grown in
importance since the 1950's and consumers nowadays are highly tuned into sustainable operations of
businesses.
Multitudes of definitions of Corporate Social responsibility have arisen however the early
definitions of CSR were relatively general. In the early 1960's, CSR was defined as "seriously
considering the impact of the company's actions on society." Another early definition of CSR by
Davis in 1975 reads as follows, "social responsibility is the obligation of decision makers to take
actions which protect and improve the welfare of society along with their own

It is important to help give back to the community you're able to learn through a different experience
that helps enhance your knowledge. Service learning allows students to make a connection from the
course and apply it in the classroom making their experience more engaging. I think is important to
take what you learn in class and apply it. I am looking forward to starting placement to help enhance
my learning and improve my skills. This type of experience gives you a whole different meaning
when you can apply what you learn in a real life setting.

In Leelah Alcorn's suicide letter she wrote, "I want my death to mean something." Leelah Alcorn
was a teenager who was forced to undergo conversion therapy after she came out as transgender
because her family did not accept her. Leelah wanted to stop the practice of conversion therapy
because of its harmful effects. After Leelah's passing some states proposed bills to ban this practice
called "Leelah's Law." Her story made me realize the impact one person can have and anything that

The Importance Of Giving Back To My Community
I did not realize how fortunate my life was until I helped out those who are not as fortunate as I,
which is what led me to my belief. I believe in the importance of giving back to my community
through the act of community service. I was able to give back to my community at the Veterans
Affair Hospital in Pineville, Louisiana, the Louisiana Special Education Center in Alexandria,
Louisiana, and at the Manna House, which is also located in Alexandria, Louisiana. I remember this
day like it was yesterday. I was in the sixth grade when our entire class went on a field trip to the VA
for Veterans Day to visit and thank all of the veterans that lived there for serving our country and
protecting the rights we have today as Americans. Prior to this field trip I made cards for the
veterans and flowers out of tissue paper for the veterans. Once we got to the VA we were taken to
the nursing home, which is where the veterans live. When I entered each room and handed a veteran
a card I could tell it made their day, which warmed my heart. Most of them had little to no family to
visit them, so just to be able to visit for as little as five minutes with them I could sense that it meant

was fortunate for the hot meal they would be served that day. I was told thank you an unusual
amount of times that day. Most people take the food that they are provided daily for granted.

The Importance Of Giving Back To A Community
I have been fortunate enough to live my entire life in the city of Brentwood, TN. A lot of stereotypes
come to mind when telling people where I live my everyday life. Such as, money, spoiled kids, nice
cars, selfishness, and many others. Every so often you find those people who don't care about what
kind of car they drive, or what brand they're wearing. Although this type of community surrounds
me every day, I have always chosen to give back. Giving back to the community is one of my
favorite things to do. Not only do I give back to the community, but I also help with big
organizations worldwide. I have been working with a service group since I was in the 10th grade.

Describe The Importance Of Giving Back
Growing up in a small town, I see the importance of giving back to your community. When most
people think of giving back to their community they think of money. Your time is sometimes more
valuable in a small community than money. I think teens should be required to perform sixty hours
of community service before they are eighteen years old. I have grown up watching my mother
donate a lot of time to organizations within our small community and she has required me to be a
part of some of those efforts. Volunteering my time has taught me the importance of giving back. I
recall a specific time that I was required to donate my time. It was the middle of December in 2014,
and I was "forced" to ring the Salvation Army Bell which my mother has a ... Show more content on

me seeing me standing there shaking a bell. How much fun could it possibly is standing outside in
the freezing cold ringing a bell? I didn't grasp the big picture if you will, of what ringing that bell
could mean to someone until, a very close friend of mine had a house fire. Sadly, they lost
everything they owned including their cat. I remember tearing up when Adam was telling us, his
friends, that they had lost everything including a family pet. As the community started to rally
together to give them clothes and household items, I wondered where they would get money for
stuff they were not given. A few days had passed and I went about my normal daily routine without
any looking back at what my friend was going through. I vividly recall a Friday evening about a
week after the fire and I overheard my mother having a conversation on the phone about setting up a
meeting to sit down with a family and they could work out what the Salvation Army could do to
aide them during their time of loss. I was curious about the conversation and I proceeded to ask my
mom who they were helping. For obvious reasons she could not tell

The Native American Pursuit Of Justice
The Native American Pursuit of Justice "Banishment from the homeland, the diaspora of a nation,
the exile of a people, and ongoing colonization– these are the legacies Minnesotans and Americans
have left" (waziyatawin 17). As a society, our wrongdoings towards the Native American people are
irreversible. Yet, it is important to do as much as we can as a society to justify our wrong doings.
Gaining knowledge about the injustices society and colonialism has committed on the Native
American way of life in Minnesota, brings a responsibility of awareness and action to achieve
justice for the Native American community. While learning about the evils done to the Native
Americans, there comes a responsibility to use that knowledge. As a person becomes aware of how
unjust the acts were towards Native Americans, it is morally right to do something with that
knowledge. The United States people owe it to the Native American community to have this
knowledge. Information about unfair and forced treaties and acts, the cruelness of the United States
government, and the genocide of the Native American culture should be widespread. according to
What Does Justice Look Like? "America has yet to keep one Indian treaty or agreement despite the
fact that the United States Government signed over four hundred such treaties and agreements with
Indian tribes" (Waziyatawin 29). This is just an example of the unfairness Native Americans were
treated with. It is crucial that this information like

My Experience At The Southside Animal Hospital Essay
Our service learning project was a great way to increase our community service hours, but more
importantly to teach us the value of community service. By giving back to the community, it helps
us develop in so many different ways. Our trip to the Southside Animal Hospital was one of intense
observation, enrichment, and one of great opportunity. We not only got to see procedures and
processes up close, but we got to participate in them which was, even more, eye opening and
beneficial. All the way from a butt holder during an eye and dental procedure, to an air bag squeezer,
we all got to participate in various ways which not only allowed us to give back and help but it
helped us see these necessary career skills and help develop our own. Even though none of us aspire
to be veterinarians, it was beneficial in so many ways. It allowed us to open our minds to different
career options and to gain perspective on a different field than our own. Although we are not going
to be performing surgery on various animals, some of us are aspiring for the medical field and
seeing that not only gives perspective into what their future careers will be like but also it allows
them to gain insight into some of the similar situations they will encounter in the medical field. By
observing different areas of the community, it helps develop our own career paths and understand
how others in our community live and work.

Education And Community Service
Rivkah Nakhon
How has your education and community service experience helped you to better serve the
community?
The education and community service that I have personally experienced has tremendously helped
me better serve the community. Being provided with an excellent education that has not only
focused on high levels of academic secular studies, but has also focused on vital biblical studies that
emphasize the importance of life morals and values, has greatly impacted my life. I was always
taught that one truly owes genuine love, appreciation, & respect to the surrounding people of their
world. These are the individuals who have and are working hard to contribute to the world we have
today, and what we owe them is infinite.
My education has truly motivated me to assist and participate in giving back to the community in
which we live. During my grade school years, the education and constant encouragement toward
giving back was largely emphasized. The opportunities my school provided for students like myself
to take part in were endless. Those experiences in which I participated in, helped me realize a
specific imperative lesson which has really made an effect on my life and who I am as an individual
today. That personal lesson which struck me has altered my perspective, and driven me to continue
to contribute to community service. From my education and special involvement in the services in
which I partook, I genuinely learned that when one gives, they, in turn, are truly

The Importance Of Giving Back To Your Own Community
Giving back to your own community is a very positive action, and after college that is what I would
like to do. I want to give back in a way that will give minorities a chance to be accepted into
something they might think is impossible. Now that I am older I see the opportunity minorities have
verses the opportunities other kids have. Since I am going into the communications field I believe if
I came back to Corinth twice a year and gave classes on public speaking kids around here would
appreciate it. Even though public speaking is taught in school it would be comprehended better from
a person you know personally and from the same background. Many kids around here do not get the

Understand The Importance Of Giving Back To The Community
Community service is very near and dear to me. I have been the recipient on many occasions and it

along with the numerous other organizations that have programs to help easy hospital stays for kids.
Since, I do not usually get many visitors while I am in the hospital, since I am usually hours from
home, these have been very special to me.

stay, I try to repay what others have done for me. One patient in particular stands out to me, Nick, he

Servant Leadership Essay
My high school career has been marked by my leadership skills; I am student body co–president, on
an advisory committee for the superintendent, and member of sports medicine. Starting my
freshman year, I knew that I wanted more out of high school than a diploma. I wanted to be able to
make a difference in the world and I feel that to do so, it is instrumental to possess the qualities of a
strong leader. I wanted to learn how to effectively compromise, understand people who view the
world though a different lens than I do, and bring out the best in my peers. I have always been
driven, persistent, and task–oriented, and subsequently, the administrative aspects of the leadership
positions came very naturally to me. However, the relational aspect did not and I learned to
harmonize the value of relationships and responsibilities. Through these 4 years, I have developed

comes great responsibility" comes to mind when thinking about the servant component in servant
leadership. I interpret this to mean that if you have influence, it is your duty to use it to benefit the
community. Part of leadership is leading by example; if the leader value the needs of others before
their own and regularly prioritizes giving back to their community, others might be more likely to
follow. Another part of servant leadership is using the resources available and one's influence to

Beatrice Strong Research Paper
It is worth nothing that "Every cause produces more than one effect," (Spencer). In like manner my
grandmother's selfless acts of compassion left lifelong effects on every individual she encountered.
Beatrice Strong was a backbone of her family and the community: She supported us by working two
full time jobs, she volunteered in her church, and sojourned the elderly in nursing homes. Her love
and support have helped me and my family conquer the inevitable. She managed to instill positivity
in everyone who knew her. Not only was she an amazing role model, she was a hardworking woman
who believed "Happiness does not come through selfishness, but through selflessness." To begin,
Beatrice Strong went over and beyond to support her family. She worked two full time jobs to
provide a sense of aid. Beatrice worked at Northwest Airlines during the day as a baggage claim
attendant, and Federal Express at night as a secretary at the Command Center. Although her two
children were grown and able, they faced financial difficulties. My grandmother swept in like a

program provided new and used clothes and shoes to over fifty members of the church. She was on

Personal Finance Lessons Learned

  • 1. Personal Finance Lessons Learned While taking the personal finance course this past spring, I learned many valuable lessons that will greatly assist me throughout my life. One lesson I learned is the importance of paying yourself first. To put this into action, I will save money in an emergency fund to have enough money to live comfortably for 3 to 6 months, in case of emergency. Furthermore, this course has taught me the importance of budgeting. Using budgeting, I will make a plan for my money, so I can avoid over drafting and bouncing checks. Another lesson personal finance taught me is to pay all bills and loans on time to develop a good FICO credit score, which is what companies use to evaluate the risk of loaning to an individual. Knowing this information will help me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By using a CD instead of a savings account, I will be able to make more money off of the award due to CDs having higher interest rates since the money cannot be withdrawn until the end of the term. This would not be problematic for me because if I were to receive the award, I would use the money for college expenses to invest in my human capital, so I would not need it for two years. Going to college will give me a financial advantage in the long run because according to what I learned in personal finance, people with degrees tend to have higher paying jobs. Additionally, with this award and scholarships, I might get through college debt free. This too would be extremely beneficial to my financial situation throughout life because I would not have to worry about paying off student loans and could instead invest in stocks or in my retirement funds. Furthermore, I love volunteering and giving back to my community, so I also want to invest in nonprofit organizations to help others find their way in life and allow them the opportunity to go to college, get a well–paying job, and hopefully continue the cycle of giving back. Therefore, the money from this award would benefit me for the rest of my life along with the community I will invest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Submitting a request to the City of Blythe to waive fees for this free community event at last Tuesday's Council meeting, council members unanimously approved the organization's application. With recommendation from staff to waive all fees except the $75 labor fee, which is a direct cost to the City and the refundable deposit of $125, the organization saved a total of $315. Sharing how extremely excited she was to speak before Council and to receive their approval for using the building to host the community health fair, Vice President of Soroptimist, Amy Daniel shared with the Times, just how happy it made ... She stated, "As Councilman Deconinck and Leslie Jessop–Watkins further agreed to help the club with the labor fees, I was elated knowing others were willing to help Soroptimist continue with this public service program, that has helped so many people in the past. Their generosity is what gives our non–profit the ability to continue to help others and serve our community!" Holding their first annual Health and Wellness Fair back in 1992, Soroptimist International of Blythe has work dutifully to fulfill their purpose of giving back generously while helping those in need. Bringing this beneficial fair to promote, motivate and maintain wellness, the local organization is happy to provide the life changing services and information needed to residents that will help detect chronic conditions, prevent diseases and provide tips on ways to stay ... • 5. Graduation Speech On Service Learning Many people value giving back as one of their highest priorities. We spent a huge portion of class dedicating our time to service learning or planning for it. Not only did we give back to a local agency, a Minnesota children's hospital, we gave back to an international agency, Masinyusane. Giving back is important for everyone, especially college students. Service learning is a wonderful opportunity to learn various new things that can be used throughout life. These service experiences have opened my eyes to new ways I can volunteer within the community, giving me more opportunities to learn and grow from. As I learned very quickly, it was very difficult to coordinate a day that worked for all of us to volunteer together or as a group. It was no surprise that a group of 20 honors students, busy with sports, clubs, academic commitments, and other activities, had a hard time fitting anything extra into their days. Although that was tough, I don't know what was harder: picking a day that worked for all of us or deciding on the type of service we would do. After a lot of dispute, we finally found something that worked for all of us: using our time in class to make tie blankets. Before we even began our service to the community and to Masinyusane, I learned a lot about compromise, planning, and being open minded. All of these are essential when it comes to working in a group. It is constantly drilled through our heads throughout life that these values are important, but it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Pleasantville High School Analysis The author claims that students of Pleasantville High School should have a mandatory 40 hours of community service as a prerequisite to graduation to provide assitance to local charities and help them understand the importance of giving back to the society. This argument, is very broad and relies on myriads of assumptions that may prove unwarranted. The following paragraphs are going to iscuss the same and provide explanations for implications, against the argument. Firstly, the author claims that in recent years teenage volunteer number has decreased even though there is a much greater need. The author here is making an assumption that the need for volunteers is NOT getting fulfilled and this is the reason that teenage volunteers are reduced. It could be possible that there are volunteers of other age groups that are fulfilling the number required for such programs and due to which teenagers, also due to lack of experience were not given a preference. This would weaken the author's case that charitable organisations need more volunteers than they already have. In relation to thie above ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author does not take into account that teenagers have a lot of pressure doing well academically and adding to it, the stress of doing volunteer work may not help the students but make it worse for them. On the other hand, if Pleasantville High School does not hold a rigorous academic system, and one does have lenty of time to do volunteer wrk on the side, forty hours of volunteer work may not magically imbibe a sense of giving back to the sciety on the students. It may also be possible that making an activity compulsory, students may take a dislike toward the whole idea of it. In such a case, the author would be proved wrong that such activties will help students understand the impotance of giving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why I Deserve A Scholarship I deserve to be a recipient of a scholarship because I am a dedicated and hardworking student who strives to improve herself and learn from others each and every single day. I know the importance of giving back to my community, so I constantly volunteer to help those in need. In addition, I am a fighter who has never tried to be a victim of her circumstance. There's so many company's that try to trade things between each other. Plant's try to trade out the back door more often than you think and if anyone were to get caught there would be in huge trouble. Key steps that a company should take, like The Cheesecake Factory could take in order to guarantee the employees follow the code of conduct. First step is to have a customer service department that takes care of all problems and investigates code of conduct issues. • 15. Sand County Almanac Quotes "Conservation is a state of harmony between men and land... harmony with land is like harmony with a friend; you cannot cherish his right hand and chop off his left" (Pg 189). In less than three sentences, to me this quote summarizes everything that Leopold is trying to say in his novel. Metaphorically, the quote is talking about two friends. In regards to the novel, Leopold is saying that humanity cannot take and use the lands resources without making a conscious effort to replenish them. The non–fiction novel A Sand County Almanac written by Aldo Leopold characterizes the importance in loving, caring and understanding our environment, land and ecosystems that surround us. Leopold emphasizes the relevance there is for humans to be conscience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the section The Land Ethic Leopold emphasizes the need for education, "perhaps the most serious obstacle impeding the evolution of a land ethic is the fact that our educational and economic system is headed away from, rather than toward, an intense consciousness of land" (p. 261). If people are not aware of the seriousness that comes with land conservation, then how are they supposed to change the way they are acting? There is a necessary need for humans to be conscience and aware of land use and its importance, but there is no way for this to happen unless the youth are educated and they continue to educate for generations to come. I believe Leopold is trying to say that those who understand the land are the ones who should be spreading their education and knowledge to those who do not. Passing on this knowledge of land ethic is crucial for the fate of the environment and Earth. Leopold expresses, "a system of conservation based solely on economic self–interest is hopelessly lopesided," (p. 251). The self–interest economists who are only interested in the profit of which they gain from the land cannot spread the importance of the respect for the community. The people who share a knowledge and passion for the environment will educate those who are unaware. As well as being educated on the land, it is essential for humanity to understand that we are not users of what Earth has to offer us, but associates, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Giving Back To The Community There is a wide range of activities an individual can conquer by giving back to their community. There are various demographics an individual can reach such as children and teenagers, the elderly, the homeless and many more. As a younger individual, such as myself, I would face challenges by reaching a broader community, however I would start off by helping my schools, district, neighborhood, and social groups. After making my desired impact on my immediate community, I will then go broad and publicize and vocalize more using social media as an outlet to expand my community service ideas to a broader community. Completing one's education is a goal, after achieving this goal, the ultimate goal should be to give back to the community that has made one who they are. I plan on giving back to my community by sharing my experience with others. During the Emory and Henry's "Service Plunge" Dr. Davis' Transitions I class spent time volunteering to weed the garden. The garden is run by Jason Von Kundra, an enthusiastic leader for this non–profit organization. The garden allows low income families from the surrounding areas to have healthier eating options by providing them with the opportunity to participate in growing their own food. Sprouting Hope is an organization that exemplifies the traditions we as a country have lost. The importance of eating healthy food has diminished over time. As a nation our eating habits are now influenced by factors such as work, convenience and the overall fast pace of the twenty first century. A community garden helps the people involved connect on so many levels. Food is an item that can be connected to almost anything imaginable. This non profit garden allows members of the community to work together and to watch their efforts succeed as the garden prospers. The idea of the community garden is phenomenal. Another main point is the importance of giving back to the community and how being part of it benefits an individual. Hernandez cites Freire and Noddings in his essay. To give value and profoundness to his statement of wanting to expose the kids to their community, he uses Freire Pedagogy of the Oppressed "change their perspective of alienation from what their new world had to offer." He also shows through Noddings how some kids are unable to choose where to go, so its essential for kids to have insight and voice in their decisions. From an early age, I was taught that giving back to others is one of the greatest joys in life. When I was a child, my parents and I made care packages of cooked food and fruits and vegetables and delivered them to people who were in desperate need in a slum of Tehran. Seeing their smiles and eagerness to reach those packages was both the best and the worst feeling of my life. • 33. Social Work Personal Statement Essay I attend Southern Illinois University Edwardsville which I study Criminal Justice. I am planning on getting my Master's Degree in Social Work. I have a passion to help people, especially children/youth. I noticed that I wanted to provide counseling and be looked at as a mentor to youth back in high school. I volunteered at Chicago Youth Center (CYC) in Chicago, IL. There I helped children from low–income, non–traditionally family backgrounds in swimming. I was a junior lifeguard. I have taught children the importance of education, life lessons, and more through swimming. I love being able to give back to the community and volunteer. Volunteering at YMCA– Camp Pinewood in Twin Lake, MI taught me the importance of community involvement. I had to make sure that the camp was ready for the children in summer. Providing the youth with a clean environment helps them have a positive outlook on life and they can have fun. I had to clean–up the camp site, build tree houses, paint, and more. • 35. Personal Narrative: My Life In El Paso I grew up in two very different communities, El Paso, Texas and Olney, Maryland. I spent the first ten years of my life in El Paso, which being home to a military base, was a community with strong military support. For the past seven years, I have lived in Olney, Maryland, a small town with families that have known each other for generations. No one really moves to Olney, most families have deeply established roots here, so when I moved to Olney when I was 10, I was very much an outsider. El Paso was fairly limited to El Paso as far as short trips, but in Olney you can be to D.C or Virginia in about an hour; there is always something new to do. Growing up I have watched how each of these communities have come together to support individuals or families who have suffered great losses. This past summer, my school's new athletic director passed away and many of the athletes and sports teams came together to help his family and bring them meals. The outpouring support was inspirational, even though the athletic director had only met the fall sports teams, those teams and families showed immense support for his family. This value was one I have seen in my family as well, my mother used to tell my sisters and I that the world is mean enough, we don't need to be mean to each other. Even from a young age, my mom emphasized the importance of taking care of others, this value was only reinforced as I grew up. Having grown up around this value has motivated me to help others when possible and be supportive of friends when they need it. I am the treasurer of my school's Doctors of Tomorrow Club, and throughout the year, we organize various drives to benefit the community, the blood drive, and volunteer at food banks. This quote suggests how one should view and understand his influence towards their community. The impact is not simply made by receiving, but it is what one is willing to give back to his community. Churchill stated this quote to get the public to serve back into their community. In regards to the quote, I have given back to my community by sharing my time and services to my church, my school, and organizations that I volunteer which has allowed me to develop as an individual. I provide volunteering and cultural services to regional organizations throughout the year. I provide volunteer work for technical services at my church from 10:00 – 12:30 on Sundays. Pregnancy Resource Center: Community Analysis As nurses graduating from a college based on Mercy and Jesuit traditions, we are taught the value and importance of serving those who are underserved and giving back to our community. We are taught meditate and reflect before taking action. And, we are taught not to judge others but to openly accept them as they are. These Mercy and Jesuit tradition values are also very important to the Pregnancy Resource Center. The Pregnancy Resource Center states that "We serve you without regard to age, race, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, religious affiliation, or other arbitrary circumstances" ("Disclaimer"). The Pregnancy Resource Center strives to not hold prejudice against any individual or group, rather, they freely serve all those who come to them. It is through this belief that they are capable of serving the underserved and giving back to the community. One of the reasons our particular volunteering will be relevant to nursing is that we will be helping to spread information about pregnancy to those who might be unaware of the opportunities and possibilities available to them. Some people––some like me as I was younger––don't realize how important it truly is and how much it can truly help others. Along with my personal story, Maria Gatta was one of those people who were the complete opposite of me before the hurricane. She valued community service and helping others. Mrs. Gatta was one of the people that realized even the littlest things could help in their own way. She spent her whole life dedicated to try and please others through all her help including the work of community service; to be able to help other people was one thing she truly valued. Whale Rider Film Analysis In the film 'Whale Rider', by Niki Caro which follows the journey of a young girl named Paikea Apirana and her struggle for acceptance as a leader of her Māori iwi, and especially her grandfather. An important character in this film is Pai herself. This character has significant importance as she is used to portray numerous important ideas and themes throughout the film. Pai helps me to understand and appreciate that women can also be leaders that are equal to men if they have the right attributes. The director Niki Caro uses numerous different film techniques to convey this idea, such as; the camera shots and camera angles when Pai is giving her speech to Koro, the use of camera angles and props in relation to the dialogue when Pai if fixing the motorboat engine, and the use of props when Pai is teaching herself to use the Taiaha. The use of camera shots and camera angles while she is giving her speech to Koro, helps to show Pai's important attributes which are necessary for a good leader. One of these shots is the low angle while Pai is giving her speech. Low angles are often used to give the focus object or person a feeling or respect, even if Pai is crying, which shows that Pai is respected by the community. As she is crying during this scene, and the director still chooses to use a low angle, consequently, this shows that she is a strong, powerful, and resilient figure, which are especially important attributes of a leader. Additionally, in this scene is a wide shot down the aisle of the hall, with Pai in the middle, and framed by the audience. Furthermore, this exhibits that the community supports Pai, even at her weakest and most fragile, while she is in tears on the stage. The support of a community is an important attribute for a leader to have, due to the importance of leadership is not just being one person, and is also the whole community. The camera shots and camera angles helped the audience as well as myself to understand the importance of Pai and helped myself and the audience understand and appreciate Niki Caro's idea that women can also be leaders that can be equal to men if they have the right attributes The use of camera angles and props in relation to the dialogue when Pai if fixing ...
