The document provides instructions for writing a post in the back end of a blog. It explains how to sign in to access the back end, where to write the title and post, how to format text using options like bold and italics. It emphasizes the importance of adding labels/tags for search engines and categorization. Spell checking and publishing or saving as a draft are also outlined. The document encourages the reader to publish their first posts despite fears and offers additional help if needed.
2. The First Trick is getting
in. The front of your blog
is the front end. Inside,
the place where you do
your work is the back end.
You have to get into the
back end to write a post.
Start by going to your blog
and in the upper right
hand corner click sign in
or new post. If it
remembers you it will say
new post.
YOU START HERE TO DO ALL YOUR WORK IN THE BACK END
3. Always give the article a
title. (red) Search engines
evaluate this as part of
their process.
Write in the large box.
(blue) You begin in
compose mode and must
click the HTML button to
add HTML
You can adjust the size
and font (yellow) and use
bold, underline, etc.
(purple)
TO DO OTHER THINGS IN THE BACK END CLICK THE BLOG TITLE IN UPPER LEFT
PART OF THE SCREEN. (EXAMPLE: BLOGGING FOR GENE……)
4. The black arrow shows a
section for adding links,
photos, and videos.
The red arrow shows the
area where you can
format the text.
The blue arrow shows the
spell checker. Always spell
check.
The yellow shows where
you label. Labeling is
important for search
engines. And schedule
allows you to tell when the
article is to go live.
LABELING IS ALSO PART OF YOUR CATEGORIZING PROCESS
5. LABELS ARE TAGS IN A GOOGLE BLOG
Each article should have at least one label.
Many will have two or three. You may do more.
There are two functions of labels. 1- Tell the
search engines this is what this article is about.
2- This is how you should categorize this post.
Too many categories both confuse the search
engines and the visitors to your blog.
6. The black arrow shows a
section for adding links,
photos, and videos.
We will provide separate
instructions on each of
these features.
ALWAYS ADD A LABEL
7. The red arrow shows the
area you can format the
text.
You can justify your text,
add numbers, and add
bullets.
More to the left you can
bold, italics, underline,
cross out text and
underline.
You can preview your
article, publish it, or save
for later as a draft (Purple)
BOLDING AND INCREASING SOME OF A FEW WORDS OF THE TEXT SIZE TELLS
GOOGLE TO TAKE NOTE OF THAT AS IT ANALYZES YOUR BLOG.
8. The blue arrow is where
you spell check.
Always spell check.
BOLDING AND INCREASING SOME OF A FEW WORDS OF THE TEXT SIZE TELLS
GOOGLE TO TAKE NOTE OF THAT AS IT ANALYZES YOUR BLOG.
9. WILL YOU REALLY DO THIS?
Be brave, publish that article. Adding a photo adds interest and will often be
what people like the best.
The fear of publishing the first few posts is what keeps most people from
blogging. Remember why you considered doing this will be important now.
The “I’m not a great writer is no excuse“.
Your goal probably wasn’t to be perfect but had a more noble purpose.
