First off I would like to personally thank you for my financial aid award that I received last year.
Both my parents emigrated from Kosovo with no education so I am to pay for college myself;
the aid not only gave me peace of mind but paired with scholarships allowed me to go to UCONN
for an extremely affordable price. So for that, I thank you. If it wasn't for the generous financial help
of the school I wouldn't be able to attend UCONN.

With all this going on, completing my financial aid became something that was set to the side. I was
crippled and was only focused on getting better and not getting kicked out of UCONN.
Not only was this depression hindering me from doing anything, but also my father who I entrusted
to help me complete my financial aid process was not in my household for the majority of the time I
went back home. My family was going through a lot at the time, and it was an ongoing struggle to
keep my parents together. Because my father was not available for most of the year, it was almost
impossible to complete my financial aid. My mom cannot speak English so that was not an option
either. I was ultimately stuck.
With this letter to you, I urge you to please hear me out and help me. I do not have the money to
attend UCONN because of my family's financial situation. The aid I received was a blessing and
gave me the opportunity to follow my dreams and make my parents proud. It was the main
driving factor for me going to UCONN as I pay for school myself. I had worked all summer and
had planned to take whatever the difference was once financial aid was factored in and pay for it
with my hard earned money, but now I will not be able to do that because of a miscommunication
with my father and my mental illness. If I am granted financial aid, I will do whatever it takes to

2. Essay On Bias
After writing my first bias narrative I have a new perspective on being biased towards complex
topics that can be debatable. The essay helped me become aware of other people's thoughts and
opinions. The way I was raised had influenced me to always lean toward a certain direction and I
always had a bias perspective on things. Bias, prejudice, and discrimination are all common terms

The class discussion helps me be more open–minded to what is happening in society and our
government. For example, when I researching my topic for my group project which is social media I
thought about how it strongly has an effect on us and we are too blinded to notice. My favorite
activity was going to the Art Gallery because the artwork and portraits caught my attention. My
favorite one was the Cheerleaders Double by Derek Fordjour because of the way he created an art
piece using just newspapers. In addition, the woman that explained each art piece interpreted ideas
that I did not think of when I was roaming the art gallery. I think it's fascinating how a person can
explain many themes and hidden messages just by staring at the work. After the art exhibition, it
