1. My Passion For Scholarship
My passion for intercultural study started when I was fifteen years old. I had just began to learn
French for my high school language requirement, and our teacher told us about an exchange trip
we could apply to participate in, where we would be matched up with a student from France who
was roughly the same age as us and we would spend four weeks living together (two weeks in our
home and two weeks in theirs). I chose to apply, with no clue what a huge impression such an
experience would have on my life. I was accepted into the program, and was matched with a girl
named Aline, who was exactly two days older than me and lived in Strasbourg, the largest city in

Just having Aline stay with my family for that short time taught me so much more about human
nature and the importance and difficulties of cross–cultural communication than I had ever learned in
school. In June, I flew with eleven other kids from my high school to Alsace, and got to live with
Aline's family in Strasbourg for two weeks. The impact that the trip had on me is indescribable.
Through the immersion in both French and Alsatian culture, I began to grasp for the first time
both how small and how very large the world is. I had never spent so much time thinking about
the way life was for other people, and found that once I began thinking about it I couldn't stop; I
learned so much about intercultural communication and exchange over those couple weeks, and I
developed a thirst for travel that I had never had before. I came back from the trip with a new
perspective on life, and began thinking a lot more often about the interplay between cultures, both in

2. Dream Scholarship Essay
I come from a small town and a family who hasn't always had luxurious things but has never went
without the things we must have. For that I will forever be grateful. Watching my father and
mother struggle to provide for my sisters and I strongly motivated me to want to earn a higher

When students think about going to college of course the first thing they think of is the cost.
However, I am not going to just any college, I am going to a private all women's college, not
because I want to but because I need to. Meredith College is the best fit for me for so many
reasons. One of those reasons being that they offer a pre–dental program that other public
universities do not. Paying for a private college is already going to be hard for my family and I not
to mention paying for dental school after I graduate undergrad school. I have applied to many
scholarships and already received quite a few but I am still far from reaching my goal of being able

Ever since I was a young kid I have always been interested in movies. My grandma, who was full
of the wise the life experience left, always knew about my interest in movies. She feed my vain for
the art. Even though her religion, she professed Adventist of seven–day religion, didn't let her go to

I never stop thinking about being a film director. All these elements have given me a very broad
outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. I strongly believe that although
some are not related directly, all these qualities will influence my graduate work.
When the opportunity showed up I took it. I came to New York City to study film. But I have to
start from the beginning. The first year I prepared to get my GED. In October 2001 I took the
examination and I passed it. Now, the second step, how can I do to pay a college or a university?
I started to work and I took editing courses in the School of Visual Art and NYU. I bought a
digital camera and I learned how to used it. I started to work making digital videos for parties and
events. I earned enough money to start my career. The CUNY advisor sent me to HOSTOS
Community College because he told me that it would be easier for me to study there. Even though
the major that I was interested in, wasn't in HOSTOS curriculum, I accepted but with the idea in my

4. Receiving A Scholarship
Receiving a scholarship will impact my career gravely, not only will this help me to continue my
studies, but it will also help me in my studies, so that I may not stay focused on the money aspect of
things. While being in college the thing to stress about the most should have to be studying and
staying on track with your assignments, but money plays a huge part in a college students life. We
have to be aware of how much money we are putting into our career and not get behind on bills,
but in trying to keep up with those bills, working long hours at a minimum wage paying job,
trying to volunteer and studying, we, or I as a student get very overwhelmed from time to time. So,
