1. Juan Pujol Garcia's Deception
Juan Pujol Garcia was born in Barcelona in 1912. When the Spanish Civil War broke out on July
17, 1936 Juan Pujol Garcia fought on both of the Republican and the Nationalist sides. Juan Pujol
Garcia claimed he did not fire a single bullet throughout the whole war. After the Spanish Civil War
had ended on April 1, 1939, Juan Paul Garcia decided that he hated totalitarianism. He especially
hated Nazism (MI5.gov.uk).
He attempted to offer his services the MI5 three times to spy on the Germans for the Allies. The
MI5 turned Juan Pujol Garcia down each time. After he was turned down his third time, he offered
his services to the Germans to spy on the Allies, but his goal was to become a double agent. In order
to convince the Germans that he will serve them as an important asset, he pretended to be a Spanish

June 5th, Juan Garcia Pujol warned the Germans to be ready on June 6th at 3:00 for an urgent
message. On June 6th a "agent" told the Germans that the Allies were on the move because he
saw a assembly camp in Southampton and troops were being given embarkation kits including
vomit bags, and all signs that they were about to start their trip towards France. However the
German operator forgot to keep the radio on air, do the Germans did not receive the important
message on June 6th and Juan Garcia Pujol told the Germans he was disgusted, he said, "I cannot
accept excuses or negligence. Were it not for my ideals I would abandon the work". He then he
received extra credit from the Germans for reliability

A Message to Garcia

Apologia
HORSE SENSE If you work for a man, in Heaven's name work for him. If he pays wages that
supply you your bread and butter, work for him, speak well of him, think well of him, and stand
by him, and stand by the institution he represents. I think if I worked for a man, I would work for
him. I would not work for him a part of his time, but all of his time. I would give an undivided
service or none. If put to the pinch, an ounce of loyalty is worth a pound of cleverness. If you must
vilify, condemn, and eternally disparage, why, resign your position, and when you are outside, damn
to your heart's content. But, I pray you, so long as you are a part of an institution, do not condemn

Initiative
The world bestows its big prizes, both in money and in honors, for but one thing. And that is
Initiative. What is Initiative? I'll tell you: it is doing the right thing without being told. But next to
doing the thing without being told is to do it when you are told once. That is to say, carry the
Message to Garcia: those who can carry a message get high honors, but their pay is not always in
proportion. Next, there are those who never do a thing until they are told twice; such get no honors
and small pay. Next, there are those who do the right thing only when necessity kicks them from
behind, and these get indifference instead of honors, and a pittance for pay. This kind spends most
of its time polishing a bench with a hard–luck story. Then, still lower down in the scale than this, we
have fellow who will not do the right thing even when some one goes along to show him how and
stays to
see that he does it; he is always out of job, and receives the contempt he deserves, unless he
happens to have a rich Pa, in which case Destiny patiently awaits around a corner with a stuffed
club. To which class do you belong?

4. Short Story Of Rowant's Message To Garcia
If you want something done right then you must do it yourself.A Character named Rowan had this
mind set when sent on a task to deliver a message to General GarcГa. The focal point of the short
story is not particulate the task itself, but how Rowan was successful at his mission by doing so
without question or reason. The character Rowant is the primary lesson of the short
story,"Message to Garcia"(Hubbard,1899).Roman's ability to do what he was told to accomplish
regardless of the lack of information he received. Elbert Hubbard continously, uses examiles
relating to how many individuals would of completed the task in a divergent manner. If given this
task I myself would of asked many questions; such as where is General GarcГa located?

5. A Message To Garcia Summary
A Message to Garcia starts off about a man that is somewhere in the woods that nobody can find or
get in touch with. So they find someone who they vaguely explain to, to deliver a message to
Garcia. Without question or hesitation, he goes. After three weeks in the jungle, he delivers the
message. The author then explains the importance of doing things without hesitation and to just do
what you are told. The Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen Robert B. Neller, recommended
this book to me. This book lived up to my expectations because the author had made a valid point. If
people would follow simple instruction without asking a hundred questions, tasks would get done
faster. This book did not teach me any new lessons. The part I found most

Sample Persuasive Message COMM/470 Sample Persuasive Message The Internet has created
many choices for consumers to shop within the privacy of their own home. The world of e–tailing
has many competitors, striving to make a sale each and every time a consumer visits their website.
In order to persuade the consumer to purchase a product, a business must effectively communicate
the message about their product to the consumer. The primary purpose of a persuasive message is
to have the receiver read or listen to the entire message and then take the "requested" action at the
end of the message. E–tailers must be able to duplicate over the internet the same "shopping"
experience a consumer would have if the interaction were...show more content...
For consumers, the Web can provide access to a wide range of products and services with low cost,
extensive and tailored information, at–home convenience for product comparisons, and enhanced
interactivity between the buyer and seller (Archer, 2002). The consumer begins the decision–making
process from the moment they "enter" the e–tailer's "showroom". Easily accessible product choices
and information will assist the consumer in making a decision to purchase. Advertisements that are
entertaining to the consumer's eyes and ears will help to keep the consumer focused on the product
gearing them toward a conscious purchase. The buying process initiates the seller–customer
relationship. Selling online is not only about attracting attention; it's also minimizing whatever
blocks the consumer might encounter, and a major obstacle is lack of their product while keeping
the information and choices simple. Too much information piled with too many choices will
overload the consumer and more than likely steer them away from you site creating a lost sale. In
any retail environment, a positive customer service experience produces customer loyalty and
repeats purchases. E–tailers are finding that getting paying customers to come back again and again
through strong customer service is as important to their growth as it is in the world of shopping
malls and downtowns everywhere (Lacey, 2005). Calling all ladies! Calling all ladies! Come

8. Message To Garcia Rhetorical Analysis
In the passage, "Message to Garcia," the author raised a cry, a scream to anyone that would
simply do what they were told. Is that so hard to be found? Apparently, in this day and age, it is
nigh impossible to find anyone that will take an order for what it is, an order, and carry it out
with pride in their work, and next to impossible to find someone that will carry out the will of
their superiors without receiving any such instruction. "Message to Garcia," illustrates a man,
Rowan, who was told this simple order. Go take this message to Garcia. He doesn't ask any
questions, he simply takes the message, prepares it, goes to Cuba, finds Garcia, and delivers the
message. He didn't know the importance of the letter, he didn't even know why

I believe the lesson to be taken from A Message to Garcia is to do your assigned tasks without
asking questions. If you are told to do something, you were specifically told because you were
picked of all the other people in your vicinity. No matter the task, you are held responsible. Any task
you have is Garcia and you must complete that task and carry the message to Garcia. The length of
the assignment depends entirely on your individual choice. If you waste time by asking questions,
you needlessly prolong the journey and the task inevitably gets difficult because of the
procrastination. Garcia doesn't want to wait for you, he'll move around, making it harder for you if
you waste time. If you get straight to work, the length will be shorter and will be easier. You should

Even if you are not being actively aware, you'll be affected anyway. When I do something right for

exceptional student, the teacher takes note and will choose you as the student who doesn't need to be

during the second semester because they knew I was paying attention during their lessons.
Others, however, were being repeatedly reminded and watched by the teacher and were under
constant supervision, lacking the sensible freedom students want. Being able to do the things you
are told when you aren't being watched is an indispensable trait that many people search for in
others and themselves. I get straight to work in some classes and in others I slack off. When I get

Luther's point of view, and how Luther speaks of using the right words of God for our own
advantage. Moreover, the main theme of this lecture is to open our eyes in his Latino point of
views, and what Latino brings to the church. Dr. Garcia emphasizes about Latino voices were not

To get things successfully done, just do it. A Message to Garcia is an inspiring essay that did in
fact has taught me a lesson. In my opinion, it show a great demonstration of responsibilities and self
motivation. The moral character, Rowan, is presented as a role model for admiring his honor of
great leadership.
When it comes to responsibilities, it needs to be taken seriously and manage time effectively. When
it comes the word "responsibilities", others would thought of like things we feel should be doing
with a clear purpose. But, Rowan had a different point of view around the frame idea of responsibility
. His behavior is the function of his decision for not asking any question but to do the task. We have

I have learned that we should not overly reacted (such as blaming for being unfair) when some
information are not clearly stated but we should work our thoughts, language and action to
increase our proactivity. For thoughts, Rowan did not hesitate for delivering a letter to Garcia
because giving time will what might go right or how to make it right. As for language, speaking
reactively is like giving out our emotion to someone else for taking control of our emotion. Then
actions is to keep promises and achieved them. Therefore, Rowan do the thing like "giving the letter
to Garcia" that others can not or did not have the confidence to do it. Everyone should take
responsibility and believe in themselve and do whatever they set out to accomplish. Or not, I know
that business would not like an employee that would cause them troubles or problems without

This is a great example of initiative, honor, courage, and commitment to the mission. This is a
perfect example on how we must be on a day to day basis. Always putting the mission before

with us being in The United Stated Marine Corps, we should abide by these examples, and help

our expectations, and our standards. Our duty as Marines to complete whatever mission is given to
us, regardless of the objectives we may encounter throughout the way. To exceed the expectations

should always work with what we got and do it with no hesitation, but most importantly, to go above

15. A Message Of The Fellow By The Name Of Rowan
In "A Message to Garcia," Hubbard wrote, "How the 'fellow by the name of Rowan ' took the

disappeared into the jungle, and in three weeks came out on the other side of the Island, having
traversed a hostile country on foot and delivered his letter to Garcia–are things I have no special
desire now to tell in detail." Then, Hubbard explained, here was a rare man who had the
ingredients for success that are needed everywhere. Rowan immediately set out to do what he was
asked to do and he did it. There were no excuses or foot–dragging. He didn 't demand that someone
furnish him with detailed plans of how to accomplish this assignment. He didn 't hesitate. He
didn 't waste time. He didn 't give up, although there were plenty of temptations to do so. He
stayed focused on his goal, partly because he saw how it fit with a much larger goal. He was
tough and tenacious. All of which are key characteristics for a successful worker. Something to
take note of was that Rowan was recommended to President McKinley to delivering the message to
Garcia. This means that people were aware that Rowan was the most capable to complete the
difficult task. He was already known by others to be a man that gets his work done under any
circumstance. Hubbard continues and mentions that after Rowan was given the job, he went to work
without further questions. Rowan is portrayed to be the ideal worker in

President McKinley knew he expected to rapidly secure the collaboration of General Garcia, the

General Garcia, yet Garcia was some place among the sloping wildernesses of Cuba–nobody knew

remaining alive sufficiently long to discover Garcia and convey the message. The head of the
Department of Military Knowledge proposed Lieutenant Rowan. He stated, "Rowan will discover
Garcia for you, on the off chance that anyone can." McKinley sent him without a moment's delay on
the mission, alone and unguarded. At the point when Rowan arrived on the island of Cuba in
mystery, Cuban nationalists met him and outfitted him with local aides. Subsequent to conquering
various impediments, he at last achieved Garcia, and extraordinarily, he made it back securely to the
