Discipline is action or inaction that is regulated to be in
accordance (or to achieve accord) with a particular system
of governance. Discipline is commonly applied to regulating
human and animal behavior, and furthermore, it is applied to
each activity-branch in all branches of organized activity,
knowledge, and other fields of study and observation.
Discipline can be a set of expectations that are required by any
governing entity including the self, groups, classes, fields,
industries, or societies.
When you have discipline, you have self-control. When
you discipline children, you are either teaching them to be
well-behaved, or you are punishing and correcting them.
The origins of this word offer great clues about
its current meanings. The Old
French descepline referred to punishment and
suffering. The Latin disciplina meant "teaching,
learning." The Old English version referred to a
branch of knowledge or field of study (so if
you're really good at word origins, you might
want to make etymology your discipline).
Developing discipline as a form of training is a
military concept that's more than 500 years old.
There is value of discipline in all walks of life.
Whether at school or at home, in the office or in
the factory, in the play ground or in the
battlefield, discipline is a necessity. Discipline
gives us an opportunity to learn, experience and
grow. Without discipline, there will be complete
chaos and disorder. There will be no peace and
progress. To be guided by rules, to pay due
regard to elders and superior officers, to obey
them and to behave in an orderly manner, all
these come under the term discipline.
Discipline is the systematic way of training people to act
according to code of behaviour or rules. Discipline is necessary
in every walks of life. We all have to work. But how can we
work if we do not know how to do it? So, we have to take the
help of some rules and methods. These rules guide us and help
us. It is only then that we are able to do our work well. What
will happen if everybody does as he likes? Will your team score
a goal if every player kicks at random? Can your family be
happy if every member goes his own way? You can do well only
when you follow some rules. If you do not, you will fail. In
other words, your success depends upon discipline.
Discipline is nothing but action according to rules.
So, discipline is needed everywhere. The most
important rule of discipline is obedience. You
must not ask why or how. You must have respect
for rules and orders. At You have to obey an
order even if it is wrong. How do you play
football? You stop as soon as the whistle stops
you. But you start playing when the whistle
allows you. You have to obey the referee. Can
you play football if you do not care for the
whistle? No games or sports can be played if you
do not obey rules.
In the same way, no school or college can run if students do
not obey their teachers. Students have to keep silent in class-
rooms. They have to respect their teachers. They cannot make
a noise. They cannot fight or quarrel. They must care for their
studies and they must come in time. All these rules help them
do their work well. Discipline does not takes away their
freedom. It only controls them and teaches them good
manners. How can they become good citizens if they do not
learn good manners?
Even a small family cannot be happy without discipline. All the
members must obey the head of the family. Nobody can do as
he likes. No home can be peaceful without discipline. A home
without discipline is like a wild forest, not a lovely garden.
Nowhere is discipline more necessary than in the army.
Soldiers must obey the command blindly. They have to march
on even in the teeth of great dangers. They cannot ask why.
They have only to do and die. A soldier is not a pleader. A
pleader will always argue for against something. But a soldier
must carry out a command even if it is wrong. If he does not,
his country is sure to lose the battle.
Similarly, discipline is important at workplaces. Discipline
employees are more like outperform others. A business
organization with discipline at its core will be able to set-target
and achieve it. The management hierarchy will perform best
when the value of discipline is imparted among the
management, employees and workers. The employer will be
able to carry out the instruction properly, and the sub-
ordination would be able to execute orders properly.
Discipline to me means self control. Self control is a
characteristic that comes with wisdom and maturity. It
is a trait that we are taught in the home, at school, in
the military, and even in the workplace. Without
discipline, self control, the world would be in chaos. If
that were to happen, human kind would not survive at
their current level. Discipline must be
acquired early in life for success to follow. If parents do
not discipline their children, then the children will have
no idea how to behave in school. That makes it difficult
for the teacher as well as the student. If discipline is
not learned, the student will continually encounter
difficulties in school which will carry over into their
adult life.
Jim Rohn has beautifully said: “Discipline is the bridge between goals and
accomplishment.” Success and realization of dreams go hand in hand with
discipline. There is no achievement that was accomplished without
discipline. All great men of all times who great phenomenal success have
been men and women of discipline. Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, Isaac
Newton, Socrates, Thomas Edison, Abraham Lincoln, Charlie Chaplin,
Henry Ford, Bill Gates, Walt Disney, Helen Keller, Booker T. Washington,
Mahatma Gandhi, and the like all became disciplined first, successful
later. Being disciplined means knowing optimal time-management, self-
control, knack of making best choices, being focused, zero
procrastination, always making more attempts in the field you want to
advance, upright moral character, and observing morals and ethics. A
disciplined person does not have to be told to do the good things; he
himself does them. Anyone who is not disciplined can’t hope to be an
achiever at all
Discipline is a broader term and includes several things which change from time
to time and place to place. When we travel in train or metro, we must follow the
rules of the railways-buying the ticket, occupying our seat, not to disturb others
or defile the compartment, not to carry any inflammable article, and protect the
railways property, etc. While going to some office to get some job done such as
depositing money in the bank, paying electricity bill, etc. we must stand in the
queue and wait for our mm.
While travelling in a bus, the discipline demands taking the proper ticket,
offering seat to ladies and old persons, not to smoke or chew paan, and
cooperate with the transport services, people, etc. While crossing the road, we
must take the zebra crossing. While driving, discipline is extremely necessary.
We must avoid drunken driving and follow the rules of traffic strictly.
If we follow these rules and remain disciplined, not only we ourselves, but
the society at large will also benefit. Following the rules of the road saves
us from getting injured or even killed. Being a disciplined traveler not only
makes our journey as well as that of others convenient but also helps the
transport authorities to serve us better, leading to an improved service.
Standing in a queue and waiting for our turn at a public counter, avoids
chaos, brings order and saves time. Paying our taxes in time saves us from
penalties and punishments; paying our telephone, electricity, and water
bills also saves us from extra charges and disconnections. The revenue
collected by the companies is used to improve the services which benefit
all of us. The amount of taxes paid by us form the capital with which the
government undertakes new projects of development in the form of
industries, servicing institutions like banks, insurance companies, etc. and
schools, colleges, hospitals, roads, etc.
The most disciplined life is that of military and paramilitary personnel. All the four wings of the
military, viz. Army, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard have strict codes of conduct under which each
employee-whether of commissioned rank or non¬commissioned category has to perform their
duties. They have a fixed time to get up in the morning-which is quite early, get ready to have
breakfast within specific hours in the Mess and report for duty. They have a regular session of
exercise or drills everyday, training sessions for various types of skills required during the course of
their service. Under normal circumstances, i.e. even when there is no war, the military personnel
have to remain fit, quick, vigilant and ready for any eventuality.
In case of war, they have to be prepared to go to the front and fight for their country under most
difficult terrains-on high attitude in extreme cold conditions, in deserts under the scorching sun, in
dangerous forests and plateaux. All their leaves are cancelled and excursions curtailed. Defending
their motherland is foremost in their minds. It is because of their great sense of discipline and
sacrifice that India is an independent country and all of us are secure in our homes. The value of
the discipline in which they live cannot be expressed in words. In fact military is synonymous with
discipline
The military men in their uniform give a message of patriotism,
sacrifice and discipline. Similarly, the paramilitary forces such
as Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force
(CRPF), the State Police Force conduct all their activities in
strict discipline. These personnel wear proper uniform during
duty hours. When we see the men in their respective uniforms,
it instills in us a feeling of respect for them.
Discipline has special importance in sports. In every
game- hockey, football cricket, tennis, billiards, chess, etc.
there are certain rules which each player has to follow.
Similarly in all the disciplines of athletics, the participants have
to obey certain rules. There are penalties or negative points for
violating the rules in each game. If these rules are not
followed, there will be complete chaos in the field
Discipline is the way to success. Infact, the head of a company won't be
able to run his business if its employees don't work in discipline manner.
It is duty of the parents to maintain discipline in home and it is the duty of
teachers to maintain the discipline in school. These are the two stages
where child can learn discipline and after that it is difficult to maintain
discipline. Students should follow the instructions of their parents and
teacher. Repeal of discipline means you are destroying your present and
future. Life becomes meaningless without any discipline. Hard work has
no meaning if work is not done in discipline manner. Key of success
includes both hard work and discipline. Discipline is imperative in all fields
of life. Discipline person never see defeat in whole life. Any nation
without discipline won't be able to developed their country. We should
discipline ourselves as to be able to achieve our goals. Discipline pays in
the long run. We should be strict and fair in our dealings.
Discipline increases your personality and quality.
The games which are played for fun, enjoyment and to inculcate
sportsmanship shall lose these objectives in the absence of discipline. In
fact, we can learn teammanship and discipline through sports. The
Olympic Games are played with the motto of achieving new heights in
human endurance. They also join the people of different continents and
thus, citizens of different races and religions. Thus, the discipline in sports
acquires higher meanings of universal brotherhood.
Discipline is of great value for all of us. It brings order in
our lives and makes the systems of society work to attain certain
objectives. History tells us that only those civilizations prospered and
lasted longer which followed discipline in their activities. Those
generations which failed to follow discipline and lived a life of
extravagance and wantonness were unable to make any impact on
others. Discipline brings in us many other qualities like punctuality,
perseverance, tolerance, hard work and time management. It has,
therefore, great value for us as citizens of a civilized society
Discipline is a very basic necessity for one’s progress. Being
disciplined does not mean that you follow every rule that you
are asked to. It means having self control and ability to adjust
yourself as per the changing trends and instructions. Being
disciplined will always give you the genuine pleasure of
freedom. Ask yourselves, isn’t it that the student or the
employee who is disciplined never ever kept at doubt. That
person is always given the freedom for their actions, as
everybody knows that they have complete control on
themselves and are mature enough for decision
implementation.
Discipline is extremely necessary in all spheres of our life. Just
imagine, is it ever possible for an army to fight without strict
discipline? Is there any educational institution to run without
discipline? No, right! So, this proves that being disciplined is
very crucial and important element of everybody’s life.
We all need to have a destined disciplinary routine in order to work well
in our personal and professional life. We should monitor each and every
small action of ours. From eating on time and in right quantity to sleep at
right time for sufficient hours. Everything needs to be taken care of for
living a healthy and wise life. One must practice self control in order to
position themselves in terms of their health, wealth and overall society
that they live in.
We inherit discipline in us by seeing others. Since our childhood it is our
parents and grandparents seeing whom we build our daily routine and do
day to day activities. I have observed this many a times that people
following due discipline get a high end support from others during the
times when needed. To have a progressive and stable life we must make
sure that we follow a disciplined life. We should act as a motivation for all
those who are around us. Seeing us stable, peaceful, happy and
determined towards our actions due to our specific disciplined flow of life
we will attract good people towards us. Our in built gestures towards
dedication help us move forward towards our achievements as the
disciplined person is way too planned in their actions and task executions.
THANKS

Essay on Discipline.pptx

  • 1. Discipline is action or inaction that is regulated to be in accordance (or to achieve accord) with a particular system of governance. Discipline is commonly applied to regulating human and animal behavior, and furthermore, it is applied to each activity-branch in all branches of organized activity, knowledge, and other fields of study and observation. Discipline can be a set of expectations that are required by any governing entity including the self, groups, classes, fields, industries, or societies. When you have discipline, you have self-control. When you discipline children, you are either teaching them to be well-behaved, or you are punishing and correcting them.
  • 2. The origins of this word offer great clues about its current meanings. The Old French descepline referred to punishment and suffering. The Latin disciplina meant "teaching, learning." The Old English version referred to a branch of knowledge or field of study (so if you're really good at word origins, you might want to make etymology your discipline). Developing discipline as a form of training is a military concept that's more than 500 years old.
  • 3. There is value of discipline in all walks of life. Whether at school or at home, in the office or in the factory, in the play ground or in the battlefield, discipline is a necessity. Discipline gives us an opportunity to learn, experience and grow. Without discipline, there will be complete chaos and disorder. There will be no peace and progress. To be guided by rules, to pay due regard to elders and superior officers, to obey them and to behave in an orderly manner, all these come under the term discipline.
  • 4. Discipline is the systematic way of training people to act according to code of behaviour or rules. Discipline is necessary in every walks of life. We all have to work. But how can we work if we do not know how to do it? So, we have to take the help of some rules and methods. These rules guide us and help us. It is only then that we are able to do our work well. What will happen if everybody does as he likes? Will your team score a goal if every player kicks at random? Can your family be happy if every member goes his own way? You can do well only when you follow some rules. If you do not, you will fail. In other words, your success depends upon discipline. Discipline is nothing but action according to rules.
  • 5. So, discipline is needed everywhere. The most important rule of discipline is obedience. You must not ask why or how. You must have respect for rules and orders. At You have to obey an order even if it is wrong. How do you play football? You stop as soon as the whistle stops you. But you start playing when the whistle allows you. You have to obey the referee. Can you play football if you do not care for the whistle? No games or sports can be played if you do not obey rules.
  • 6. In the same way, no school or college can run if students do not obey their teachers. Students have to keep silent in class- rooms. They have to respect their teachers. They cannot make a noise. They cannot fight or quarrel. They must care for their studies and they must come in time. All these rules help them do their work well. Discipline does not takes away their freedom. It only controls them and teaches them good manners. How can they become good citizens if they do not learn good manners? Even a small family cannot be happy without discipline. All the members must obey the head of the family. Nobody can do as he likes. No home can be peaceful without discipline. A home without discipline is like a wild forest, not a lovely garden.
  • 7. Nowhere is discipline more necessary than in the army. Soldiers must obey the command blindly. They have to march on even in the teeth of great dangers. They cannot ask why. They have only to do and die. A soldier is not a pleader. A pleader will always argue for against something. But a soldier must carry out a command even if it is wrong. If he does not, his country is sure to lose the battle. Similarly, discipline is important at workplaces. Discipline employees are more like outperform others. A business organization with discipline at its core will be able to set-target and achieve it. The management hierarchy will perform best when the value of discipline is imparted among the management, employees and workers. The employer will be able to carry out the instruction properly, and the sub- ordination would be able to execute orders properly.
  • 8. Discipline to me means self control. Self control is a characteristic that comes with wisdom and maturity. It is a trait that we are taught in the home, at school, in the military, and even in the workplace. Without discipline, self control, the world would be in chaos. If that were to happen, human kind would not survive at their current level. Discipline must be acquired early in life for success to follow. If parents do not discipline their children, then the children will have no idea how to behave in school. That makes it difficult for the teacher as well as the student. If discipline is not learned, the student will continually encounter difficulties in school which will carry over into their adult life.
  • 9. Jim Rohn has beautifully said: “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” Success and realization of dreams go hand in hand with discipline. There is no achievement that was accomplished without discipline. All great men of all times who great phenomenal success have been men and women of discipline. Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, Isaac Newton, Socrates, Thomas Edison, Abraham Lincoln, Charlie Chaplin, Henry Ford, Bill Gates, Walt Disney, Helen Keller, Booker T. Washington, Mahatma Gandhi, and the like all became disciplined first, successful later. Being disciplined means knowing optimal time-management, self- control, knack of making best choices, being focused, zero procrastination, always making more attempts in the field you want to advance, upright moral character, and observing morals and ethics. A disciplined person does not have to be told to do the good things; he himself does them. Anyone who is not disciplined can’t hope to be an achiever at all
  • 10. Discipline is a broader term and includes several things which change from time to time and place to place. When we travel in train or metro, we must follow the rules of the railways-buying the ticket, occupying our seat, not to disturb others or defile the compartment, not to carry any inflammable article, and protect the railways property, etc. While going to some office to get some job done such as depositing money in the bank, paying electricity bill, etc. we must stand in the queue and wait for our mm. While travelling in a bus, the discipline demands taking the proper ticket, offering seat to ladies and old persons, not to smoke or chew paan, and cooperate with the transport services, people, etc. While crossing the road, we must take the zebra crossing. While driving, discipline is extremely necessary. We must avoid drunken driving and follow the rules of traffic strictly.
  • 11. If we follow these rules and remain disciplined, not only we ourselves, but the society at large will also benefit. Following the rules of the road saves us from getting injured or even killed. Being a disciplined traveler not only makes our journey as well as that of others convenient but also helps the transport authorities to serve us better, leading to an improved service. Standing in a queue and waiting for our turn at a public counter, avoids chaos, brings order and saves time. Paying our taxes in time saves us from penalties and punishments; paying our telephone, electricity, and water bills also saves us from extra charges and disconnections. The revenue collected by the companies is used to improve the services which benefit all of us. The amount of taxes paid by us form the capital with which the government undertakes new projects of development in the form of industries, servicing institutions like banks, insurance companies, etc. and schools, colleges, hospitals, roads, etc.
  • 12. The most disciplined life is that of military and paramilitary personnel. All the four wings of the military, viz. Army, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard have strict codes of conduct under which each employee-whether of commissioned rank or non¬commissioned category has to perform their duties. They have a fixed time to get up in the morning-which is quite early, get ready to have breakfast within specific hours in the Mess and report for duty. They have a regular session of exercise or drills everyday, training sessions for various types of skills required during the course of their service. Under normal circumstances, i.e. even when there is no war, the military personnel have to remain fit, quick, vigilant and ready for any eventuality. In case of war, they have to be prepared to go to the front and fight for their country under most difficult terrains-on high attitude in extreme cold conditions, in deserts under the scorching sun, in dangerous forests and plateaux. All their leaves are cancelled and excursions curtailed. Defending their motherland is foremost in their minds. It is because of their great sense of discipline and sacrifice that India is an independent country and all of us are secure in our homes. The value of the discipline in which they live cannot be expressed in words. In fact military is synonymous with discipline
  • 13. The military men in their uniform give a message of patriotism, sacrifice and discipline. Similarly, the paramilitary forces such as Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the State Police Force conduct all their activities in strict discipline. These personnel wear proper uniform during duty hours. When we see the men in their respective uniforms, it instills in us a feeling of respect for them. Discipline has special importance in sports. In every game- hockey, football cricket, tennis, billiards, chess, etc. there are certain rules which each player has to follow. Similarly in all the disciplines of athletics, the participants have to obey certain rules. There are penalties or negative points for violating the rules in each game. If these rules are not followed, there will be complete chaos in the field
  • 14. Discipline is the way to success. Infact, the head of a company won't be able to run his business if its employees don't work in discipline manner. It is duty of the parents to maintain discipline in home and it is the duty of teachers to maintain the discipline in school. These are the two stages where child can learn discipline and after that it is difficult to maintain discipline. Students should follow the instructions of their parents and teacher. Repeal of discipline means you are destroying your present and future. Life becomes meaningless without any discipline. Hard work has no meaning if work is not done in discipline manner. Key of success includes both hard work and discipline. Discipline is imperative in all fields of life. Discipline person never see defeat in whole life. Any nation without discipline won't be able to developed their country. We should discipline ourselves as to be able to achieve our goals. Discipline pays in the long run. We should be strict and fair in our dealings. Discipline increases your personality and quality.
  • 15. The games which are played for fun, enjoyment and to inculcate sportsmanship shall lose these objectives in the absence of discipline. In fact, we can learn teammanship and discipline through sports. The Olympic Games are played with the motto of achieving new heights in human endurance. They also join the people of different continents and thus, citizens of different races and religions. Thus, the discipline in sports acquires higher meanings of universal brotherhood. Discipline is of great value for all of us. It brings order in our lives and makes the systems of society work to attain certain objectives. History tells us that only those civilizations prospered and lasted longer which followed discipline in their activities. Those generations which failed to follow discipline and lived a life of extravagance and wantonness were unable to make any impact on others. Discipline brings in us many other qualities like punctuality, perseverance, tolerance, hard work and time management. It has, therefore, great value for us as citizens of a civilized society
  • 16. Discipline is a very basic necessity for one’s progress. Being disciplined does not mean that you follow every rule that you are asked to. It means having self control and ability to adjust yourself as per the changing trends and instructions. Being disciplined will always give you the genuine pleasure of freedom. Ask yourselves, isn’t it that the student or the employee who is disciplined never ever kept at doubt. That person is always given the freedom for their actions, as everybody knows that they have complete control on themselves and are mature enough for decision implementation. Discipline is extremely necessary in all spheres of our life. Just imagine, is it ever possible for an army to fight without strict discipline? Is there any educational institution to run without discipline? No, right! So, this proves that being disciplined is very crucial and important element of everybody’s life.
  • 17. We all need to have a destined disciplinary routine in order to work well in our personal and professional life. We should monitor each and every small action of ours. From eating on time and in right quantity to sleep at right time for sufficient hours. Everything needs to be taken care of for living a healthy and wise life. One must practice self control in order to position themselves in terms of their health, wealth and overall society that they live in. We inherit discipline in us by seeing others. Since our childhood it is our parents and grandparents seeing whom we build our daily routine and do day to day activities. I have observed this many a times that people following due discipline get a high end support from others during the times when needed. To have a progressive and stable life we must make sure that we follow a disciplined life. We should act as a motivation for all those who are around us. Seeing us stable, peaceful, happy and determined towards our actions due to our specific disciplined flow of life we will attract good people towards us. Our in built gestures towards dedication help us move forward towards our achievements as the disciplined person is way too planned in their actions and task executions.
