Neonatal Nursing Career
It has always been a dream of mine to pursue a career as a Neonatal Nurse. I chose this career
because my love for babies/infants started out at a young age, and as I developed in school, I learned
that I have a passion for science and the medical field. Although this career is known to be more
rigorous, I believe the rewards outweigh the challenges. Neonatal nurses work with newborn babies
that were born with a variety of problems ranging from premature birth, cardiac malformations, not
being fully developed, and more. These nurses also work with the families of the babies in
comforting and educating the parents as to what to expect and how to properly care for their baby.
The environment is typically fast paced and can be found in different ... Show more content on

You must also be certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and/or Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing.
Typically, there are about five to six years of study involved. I will be obtaining this education at
Arkansas State University(ASU)–Beebe for my first two years and then plan on transferring to
either Jonesboro or Conway to finish my education. I am also very interested in two really good
programs with University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and/or the Baptist Health
program. The great thing about them is that they will pay for your school as long as you sign to
work for them

Nursing As A Second Career
Education Story
I decided to return to school, choosing nursing as a second career. It was intimidating and daunting.
Will school be too hard? Will I fit in? Am I too old? I was afraid that I would lack the skills to
handle a heavy load of school work along with full–time employment. I felt overwhelmed not really
knowing all of the terminology used in the medical field, which was the biggest challenge I had to
face. My husband once told me that if I could handle a nursing assistant job, then maybe I could be a
good registered nurse. It was a long shot, but it gave me the firm idea of being a nurse. Working full
time as a nursing assistant, reading all the nursing books I saw, made me familiar with the
terminology and led me to know where

I have seen alot and i do not and will not become that type of nurse a nurses job is to make a patient
feel comfortable and gain a trustful and therapeutic relationship with the client not to make them
feel as if they are a burden. I firmly believe that communication and trust is one the most important
aspects of nursing on top of the many reasons that i have discussed earlier. One of the main reasons
for having a desire and wanting to pursue and a nursing career is my children they motivate me
everyday to keep pushing striving and do better.I want to give them a better life than i had growing
up which will in turn only make them want to be better and want more out of life when they get
older, and to have a mind set that they are able to do anything that they put their minds and effort
into. I say this because they see that i went and made it through the struggle of nursing school all the
school events i missed and sports games. They always tell me they want to move into a big house
like a mansion i often explain to them you have to work for all that you want , and that is what im
doing with nursing school i too want to owe a big house

What Is A Nursing Career?
Finding a job in America can be a tough task within its self especially with little education.
Therefore, finding a career that suits your interest in addition to your pockets should always be a
priority. In this paper, I will describe how a nursing career is arguably more promising than an
interior designer. During my research, I learned the outlook, salary, qualifications, requirements and
daily task required for each career. An interior designer is a thrilling career for those who are artistic
and creative. However, the outlook for this career is not high and continuously decreasing in
numbers yearly. A nursing career is gratifying, but it is also an extreme amount of a work and
awfully stressful. Each careers path come with a handful

The Importance Of A Career In Nursing
I have been working in the nursing field for quite a while, and I can say that each day is an
adventure. Nursing is a profession that is physically and emotionally draining and oftentimes does
not get the credit when it's due. It can also be both physically & emotionally demanding, having
someone who depends on your decisions and capabilities as a nurse, as they entrust their life on your
hand, together with the nursing demands & responsibilities can be physically draining. Despite of
this facts, by being a nurse gives me a opportunity to help and serve others, make positive influence
to people's lives and to be the source of their strength during times of illness gives me an eternal
satisfaction that no materials things can ever replaced. And also, the thrill & excitement that comes
along w/ this career is also one of the reasons why i decided to still chose and pursue my nursing
career. With my knowledge based on my experiences, I can say that Spiritual or compassionate care
involves serving the person as a whole, through their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.
Sometimes even just by spending time with them, holding their hands, talking about what is
important to them and considering their faith, spiritual and religious beliefs gives us a better
opportunity as their nurse to make and implement plans to provide them with a better care. Spiritual
needs may be greater during times of illness, and a separation from routine comforting spiritual or

Nursing : A Career As A Career In Nursing
I have learned how important it is advocating for patients, my parents and immediate family. Nurses
see patients at their most assailable times in their lives. As a proponent, nurses can improve the
outcomes of patient's illness. I had my first experience of witnessing my twin brother Kareem
asthma attack at seven years old and it was the scariest moment of my life. In that moment I thought
that he was going to die, I had never felt so incapacitated. That first experience with the physical
process of asthma set the stage for my career ambitions of becoming a registered nurse . The
functions of the human anatomy and the results of the environment, drugs, and genetics on humans
never failed to catch my interest; therefore, I apt toward a career that included these interests.
Hitherto, at the same time, I strongly desired to make a difference in people's lives. When my grand
mother was sick she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and had to have her left foot amputated.
The treatment that she got from those nurses in the hospital especially one named nurse Blackwood
was phenomenon, that enabled me to want to be a nurse because it will allow me to have more
personal and prestigious relationship with my patients. Those nurses left an impressionable effect on
me. I then pursued a carer in nursing and went to the Doncaster Practical School of Nursing where I
became a LPN. As an adolescent ,I remembered the nurses who helped teach me how to assist my

The Nursing Career
"Nurses entering this specialty must highlight not only their clinical skills, but also their critical
thinking, advocacy and analytical abilities. Communities are dynamic, and nurses must adapt to and
be able to provide patients with whatever care is needed." (Meadows, 2009). The PHN uses clinical
knowledge along with an ecological viewpoint. A public health nurse can practice in clinics, health
departments, faith–based organizations, mobile vans, homes, correctional facilities, occupations,
community centers and hospitals. There is no setting that a public health nurse cannot practice to
deliver a community–focused intervention.
Delivering a successful intervention can be challenging but with learning competencies and skills,
the PHN can achieve results. At all times the focus must be on the health needs of an entire
population including imbalances and the unique needs of sub–populations. A PHN must be
analytical by defining a problem and use data to determine an effective solution. A PHN must be
able to communicate effectively, and understand how the media delivers information.
Of great importance is the role of cultural competency in public health nursing. Cultural competency
is the ability to effectively consider the worldviews, healthcare practices and preferences of people
from diverse, racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. The PHN must put an
emphasis on prevention and focuses attention to multiple determinates of health. The skill of

types of health care provider that there is. They are the ones who spend all the time with the patient

In my family, nursing has become a sort of legacy. At a certain point in my childhood, I wasn't sure
that I could be or do anything else. A nursing career felt safe; it was familiar, stable, and at a young
age, I felt that I'd heard all the good, bad, and ugly. However, it wasn't until I began preparing to
apply to nursing school that I wondered if I really wanted this to become my career, until I began
asking myself if all the trials and tribulations of both nursing school and the profession were worth it
and if I had the qualities necessary to sustain myself when they'd inevitably arise.

The Career Of A Nursing Profession
Even though a nursing profession is a time consuming and stressful career, the longing and desire to
be a nurse has always remained in me. There are many different professions in the medical field that
I considered at one point and worked different jobs. The passion I have for nursing has flourished
because of this life changing opportunity that is being given to me. Through the Vocational Nursing
Program, I will be able to receive the education to be able to provide care for my community and
fulfill my calling.
All my life nurses have surrounded me. My mother was diagnosed with Hodgkin Disease while I
was in the womb. She spent most of her early motherhood life in a Galveston, TX hospital. I also, in
2006 was diagnosed with cervical cancer and was given the proper care to battle the cancer and
become a survivor. The flourishing of my desire for nursing was also very clear when I experienced
how to care for another person. My cousin who has different disabilities has been ill since an infant.
All her life I have cared for her when I could and met numerous of nurses who are by her side
twenty–four seven. The surrounding of nurses and their environment that I have been exposed to,
has assured me that this desire I have to further my education in this pathway is the right choice. I
hope to attain the proper education to gain closeness to the people in my community through this
profession that I have a strong desire for.

Career Trajectory In Nursing
A career trajectory is a formalized plan for a successful transition into a career path that an
individual has chosen. Likewise, the goal of nursing is to improve health through the advancement
of knowledge therefore, improving the safety, effectiveness, and the access for healthcare. In
combining these two definitions, a career trajectory in nursing advancement is to allow for clarity of
direction and expected outcomes in a career by meeting the goals to advance in the healthcare field.
In order to build a successful career as an advanced practitioner an individual must consider the
requirements of the position and make strategic decisions in order to facilitate progression towards
this goal (Feetham & Doering, 2015).

Nursing As A Career
Introduction
Price, Hall, Angus and Peter (2013) "Nursing is described as a beautiful, rewarding and motivating
career followed with an acknowledgement that nurses are underappreciated." (p.7) Nursing is a
profession that is organized and abides by a code of ethics where the individual is expected to
honour these implementations. Nurses spend their career saving and promoting life and one of the
most significant parts of being a nurse is to be a patient advocate. Nursing students tend to
frequently enter their program with fixated and preconceived philosophies of nursing as a career.
However, nurses are conceptualized and portrayed in the media in a derogatory fashion. Thus, this
causes the appearance of this career to be diminished and trivial. Traditional views of the nursing
profession have been to shape nurses ' perceptions and expectations of nursing as a career. Despite
negative imaging, students have different perceptions on nursing, and exploring unique reasoning
for interest in this career is inspiring. Every nursing student embarks on a different path to success,
all with underlying reasons for their choice in pursuing this career.
Self– Discussion There is a vast variety of motives behind nursing as a career which shape the views
towards the profession. Individuals may seek interest in nursing when informed of the benefits,
salary and a guaranteed job, while others may pursue nursing because they are compassionate,
dedicated, driven and committed. It is found

The drive to purse nursing as a career stems from an innate passion for helping others. Helping,
healing, and nurturing are all qualities that have grown and developed throughout my life, and have

working directly with people, which nurtured this interest into my college career. I recognized my

The Career Of Nursing Career
Nursing When people are sick or injured they need someone to take care of them and may need to
see a doctor. But usually there are other professionals who will see them first and provide hands–on
care before the doctor arrives. Many of these professionals are nurses. Within the healthcare sector
focused on the care of individuals, families and communities, nurses may help patients attain,
maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life. When considering a nursing career, one needs
to be aware of the education and training required, the potential salaries of nurses, the history of
nurses, the locations of hospitals were is the nurses working, and the characteristics nurses need to
be successful. The history of nurses includes different kinds of nursing. Regarding the clinical nurse
specialist, the national league for nursing education first drew up a plan to create the clinical nurse
specialist role in the 1940s. The first master's degree program opened in 1950 at Rutgers University;
the only specialty offered at that time was psychiatric nursing. By 1970, clinical nurse specialty
certification had become available in a number of fields in response to increased specialization in
health care, the development of new technologies, and need to provide alternative, cost–efficient
health care in the physician shortage of the 1960s (Ferguson A 9). Educational programs for nurses
are a fairly recent addition to the time honored career choice. Regarding the history of

There are many external factors that have influenced my choice in the career I wish to go into, these

The Career of Nursing
According to Boykin "Caring is the foundation of nursing" (Boykin et al, 2011) and in order to be a
nurse, it is essential that a nurse can demonstrate and practice professional communication skills.
Professional communication skills not only allows the nurse to provide different methods and tactics
to communicate with patients of different needs and ages, but it enables the nurse to understand and
to give the best possible care and outcome for the patient. Provision of information and handover is
another major point for nurses and relates to professional communication. Nurses need to be able to
get a detailed diagnosis from the patient through communication, and therefore allows for the nurse
to handover vital information to other doctors or nurses who take over to provide the correct and
best possible treatments and care. The nursing profession requires a nurse to uphold professional
communication, provision of information and handover in order to care for the patient with the right
treatment, and to provide the best health outcome. It is the nurses' responsibility to understand what
it means to have professional communication skills. Not only does not being able to communicate
affect the patient, but also it affects how the nurse is able to do his or her job to the best they can.
Smith and Pressman say that the Institute of Medicine has released reports, which stress, "good
communication is critical to ensuring safe and reliable nursing" (Smith & Pressman, 2010). Bad

Benefits Of A Career In Nursing
I was always told that a career in nursing should be something that has a reliable income that can
support your home and family with a little extra to save. I later learned that while the monetary
aspect of a career is important finding a career that I love and pays well never feel like work but
rather a paid passion. Passion about a nursing career allows me to focus all my energy on an
obtainable goal where I can enjoy the journey and the destination. My disabilities can make normal
physical tasks a challenge and nursing can be difficult even for well–prepared individuals but
sometimes a little pain now can help me down the road. However, my love of knowledge gives me
an advantage since it allows since it allows me to immerse myself in subjects that interest me which
is beneficial because education is an important factor for advancement in the nursing field.
Moreover, my passion for nursing leads me to have a great hope for excellent job satisfaction which
is something all career seeker hope to obtain. There are many challenges for those going into the
nursing career field and even those who are well prepared can face difficult challenges. These
challenges can be both physical and mental. Common physical challenges can be lifting patients and
being able to restrain contrary patients which can require some physical strength along with the
ability to take injuries from flailing patients. Intellectual strain can come from long nights in a high
stress, loud environment, juggling responsibilities at work, and constant studying to stay current on
all the best techniques. Additionally, a typical nursing schedule can be very hectic with long hours,
double shifts, working holidays, weekends both night and day. Having hours like these can cause
fatigue and anxiety with the juggling of professional and personal life, this particular challenge can
be especially difficult if I want to start a family. To top it off, I must be around potential fatal or
harmful substances like blood, feces, radiation, and sharp instruments all of which carry the risk
infectious diseases that I could contract. I have my own set of challenges because of disabilities I
acquired while in the United States Army. A training injury became worse

Nursing And Nursing Careers
Nursing Nursing has been an occupation that I have had my mind set on since I was in the second
grade. I have always loved the idea of helping people fight their medical battles and being there for
them, like someone once was for me. When I was born, I had to have a portion of my left lung taken
out. I was not expected to live while my mom was pregnant with me and my sister. After I was born,
I was rushed to surgery to remove part of my left lung. Because of the doctors and nurses that had
been there for me while I was fighting my battles, I had survived and lead a healthy, normal life
now. I want to do the same thing for someone else. I love the idea of being the so–called "superhero"
of someone else's life. There are many shapes and sizes of the jobs that registered nurses may do.
They provide health care for patients, inform patients of their health conditions, and "provide advice
and emotional support to patients and their family members" (summary). Registered nurses also
"help doctors during exams and surgeries" and "dress wounds and incisions" (RN Careers).
Registered nurses cater to their patient's physical and emotional needs. They comfort a patient and
help them emotionally just as much as they help them physically. Nurses often spend a lot of time
with patients, resulting in lasting relationships (20 reasons). Very seldomly do you find a career
where relationships are built with your clients or patients. Nurses are very fortunate to get to
experience these

multidimensional profession. According to the article "Opportunities in Nursing" by Betty Smith
"Nursing in general is concerned with the care of people's psychological, social, and physiological
well being". There are various types of nurses such as registered nurses, nurse anesthetist,
psychiatric nurses, nurse practitioners and many more. The article "Careers in nursing" by Linda
Burnes illustrates "careers in nursing include staff nurses who work in hospitals and health care
systems. The vast majority of nurses ( 76 percent) work in hospitals and clinical settings, where they
are responsible for direct patient care". In the hospitals and ... Show more content on

They usually operate and monitor medical equipment used in patient treatment while performing
diagnostic testing and analyzing results". Becoming a registered nurse is satisfying because you are
helping others in their greatest time of need.
As any other profession, the pay and benefits in nursing increases depending on the degree and
experience you've had. The article "Nursing" by Diana V. Cantu estates " Nurses make a median
annual wage of $67,490 according to the BLS. Nursing is a career that will always be in need of
nurses. The BLS projects that , from 2014 to 2024, nursing will grow an outstanding sixteen percent
compared to most other careers that grow an average of seven percent". Nursing is a broad career
that allows different professional nurses to perform their skills in the area of specialty.
Technology plays a big role in the field of nursing. In the article "Nursing" author Diana V. Cantu
interviewed Stephen Ankiel, a registered nurse who's been in the area for over five years. One of the
questions she asked him was " what kind of technology do you use in your everyday job?" Ankiel
answered " I use computers, electronic medical records software, general medical equipment,
ventilators, and medical dispensing systems just to name a few". Technology is an important factor
of society and the grand majority of careers. This tool has helped improve the modern world because

Nursing : A Career As A Career In Nursing
From a very early age I have had a passion and drive to help people. I was first inspired to go in to a
nursing career by my grandmother who would tell me stories about her experiences as a midwife.
One that stood out to me was when she travelled through a snowstorm to deliver a baby, and it is
this level of commitment, care and compassion that I aspire to have. I have also found inspiration
from my mum who is an ICU nurse and has always shared her experience and advice with me. This
has been something that has resonated with me throughout my life and has always served as an
inspiration.
I have always enjoyed working with children, which is shown through my current job as a
swimming teacher and my volunteer work. My chosen pathway is ... Show more content on

After observing during work placements in hospital settings how to deal with challenging behaviour
I feel I already have the foundations of the skills needed to work with distressed family members.
I worked as a Poolside Assistant for Water Lilies Swimming School for over a year and have
recently completed my STA Level 2 Award in Swimming Teaching, alongside the STA Level 2
Safety Award for Teachers and Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Certificate. I currently
teach classes of up to 4 children from age 3–13; through this I have developed my confidence
working with children, have increased my organisational skills through lesson planning and learnt
valuable skills in communication with different children. I feel that the skills I have gained in
helping a nervous child to feel at ease in the water will be very transferable to the skills needed to
help a child feel comfortable in hospital.
I believe that I possess the qualities in accordance with the NHS 6C's; Compassion, Commitment,
Competence, Care, Courage and Communication. I am very committed to my current job and have
learnt how to balance this with both my college work and hobbies. Caring for the individuals in a
care home on my current work placement has been something I have found very rewarding. I have

I won't be following a parent or relatives footsteps by being a nurse and I haven't been inspired by
anyone I know. With a gradual realization I knew that nursing would be a great job for me after I
started watching Nurse Jackie I began to research nursing as a career which increased my interest
and wish to be a nurse as the program opened my eyes to how close–knit a nursing team.
I have grown up in the countryside, the nearest town being a mile or two away, I'd love the
opportunity to study at a university in a big city and I love that there will be practical experience in a
variety of settings like home environment, hospitals which is one of the largest NHS providers in the
UK and out in the community which would be interesting and worthwhile.
I was torn between adult nursing and mental health nursing but after a fair amount of research I have
come to the decision that I'd like to do adult nursing as I believe it would give me a broader basis to
start with and endless options and opportunities, I am looking forward to learning interesting things
about the human body and to interact with people in other healthcare professions. ... Show more

I am eager to pursue a career that utilizes all the best parts of my character. I don't want to waste
days doing a purposeless job, I want to make a difference, to help people which is why I want to be
a nurse, I want a challenging career working with a wide range of people in different places. Nursing
is an in–demand career with job security and flexibility with the option of working weekdays/nights
or weekends, shift work and overtime as well as the ability to switch shifts making it an interesting
career rather than a 9–5; 5 days a week job which you dread the thought of going back Monday

Career Planning
During my term in school I have often thought about what department of nursing I would like to go
into, but I did not put too much thought into the steps it would take to become a nurse in Illinois. I
have been so focused on being a mom of four, going through nursing school and keeping my job
(not in medical) of eleven years that I haven't had a real mental opportunity to consider how I will
retain a holistic life balance, which stressors or challenges I may face, how I will continue to learn
throughout my life as a nurse, nor what type of contributions I can make as a professional nurse.
Through researching these questions, I have learned a lot about, the process and myself. My
transition from being a student to be a profession nurse includes a few very fundamental steps along
my path. I will be seeking my nursing license in Illinois, which required by the board of nursing I
must submit proof of all academic and clinical work has been completed and has been deemed
satisfactory. There are additional requirements such as, I will be required to provide fingerprints, be
able to pay for the exam, once I pass the exam I will be able to practice nursing under adequate
supervision as a "license pending" nurse (ANCC, 2017, p. 6). Once I can practice as a nurse, I will
need to find a place of employment that will allow me to work as a new grad. Northwest

Nursing as a career choice. As Mother Teresa said: "It is not how much you do but how much love
you put in the doing". These words can not but be common for nurses all over the world. Well, what
makes them love their profession? How did people decide to make nursing their career choice?
What are the reasons for people to start such a way of life? As it goes without saying, nursing can
not be called a profession or job only. It is something very special that totally changes your life. First
of all, it is very important to understand what nursing really is, what kind of responsibilities it
includes. If we search for the meaning of the word "nurse", we will find such explanations as:
"Nurse – a person educated and trained to care for the sick or disabled" (Dictionary by Farlex (n.d.),
"Nurse – one who is especially prepared in the scientific basis of nursing and who meets certain
prescribed standards of education and clinical competence" (Saunders, Dorland 's Medical
Dictionary for Health Consumers, 2007). According to the American Nurses Association: "Nursing
is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and
injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy
in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations". All these options combined
means that nursing is an integral

Essay A Career in Nursing
The thought of fast paced movement, interaction with people, and being able to help people is what
makes nursing sound like and interesting career. Nurses have a lot of responsibility around the
hospital. They provide care and make patients feel comfortable. Becoming a nurse has a lot of
responsibility to it. The career also needs someone who has good people skills but is also assertive.
To become a registered nurse a person can either earn an associate of science in Nursing, which is 2
years of schooling, or an individual can earn a bachelor of science in nursing, which is 4 years of
schooling (Discover Nursing). An individual can choose if they want an associate's degree or a
bachelor's degree, but it is better to have more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Virginia Henderson tells what she thinks a nurse is about in her book The Nature of Nursing. "...
helping of the patient to do those things leading toward health or a piece of that which he ordinarily
would do for himself if he had the necessary strength, will or knowledge, and to help him in such a
way that he is able to do for himself as soon as possible" (Fredrickson, 2). Nurses have many
different responsibilities but one of their main responsibilities is to provide care for patients in the
best way possible. Nurses must be ready at anytime to be able to take care of someone in need
(Nurses for a Healthier Tomorrow). They have to be able to remain calm, even in tense situations,
and also need to be able to come up with solutions fast and correct (Nursing School Programs).
Nurses take direction from doctors who are working on the same patients as them. Nurses do many
different things for a patient. They bandage wounds, retrieve information on the patient, and give the
patient medicine that the doctor has prescribed. The place a nurse works in is usually fast–paced and
a little overwhelming. A type of nurse that seems like it would be exciting would be an emergency
nurse. An emergency nurse can work in ambulances, helicopters emergency room, and sports arenas.
When it comes to all the different kinds of nursing there is most likely a nursing that could fit
anyone's personality (Discover Nursing). There are a wide variety of pros to

Importance Of A Career In Nursing
Mastering and understanding the body's response to diet and exercise intrigued me. Being
knowledgeable in promoting a high quality of life and optimum health appealed to me. Studying the
art and science of human anatomy and movement interested me, which resulted in choosing nursing
as my career. For me to be a successful nurse, it is vital that I complete a nursing program. USF
would be great for me because I am a dedicated achiever of my goals, and will finish your program
with an open mind and a driven spirit. A career in nursing would be my way of giving back to my
community and those that have supported me along my educational journey. People I have crossed
paths with didn't expect much from me as a student because of my upbringing. I come from a split
family home in Compton, California and I have learned to overcome adversity and treat obstacles as
a stepping stone, leading me to my greater purpose. I am not afraid to make mistakes, as I have
learned that this is the greatest opportunity for growth. I believe that hard work and a good attitude
could get me far in this field and I am willing to take on the challenge of continuing my higher
education, as it would be an honor to do so in your program.
My experiences from volunteering and shadowing health professionals has taught me a great deal
about professionalism in the field. I observed my grandmother at an early age, assist patients in the

A Career In Nursing
There are many factors that attribute to my desire to pursue a career in nursing. My personal
experiences in health care settings, both as a patient and as a volunteer, brought to my attention my
strong desire to live a life that will impact others in a positive way. A career in nursing is a perfect
channel through which I can fulfill this desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
Throughout my life, I have seen nurses that went above and beyond to help the patient, as well as
those that did the bare minimum required of them. I have seen how a nurse has the potential to either
ease the anxiety in a room or worsen it. I have always greatly respected the nursing position and
believe that it is one that should not be taken lightly, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I volunteer at the Kennedy Health Care Center, and as a volunteer, I am directly involved with the
long–term care patients of the facility. Throughout the whole experience, I learned a great deal about
interacting with confused and scared individuals because many of the residents at the facility have
some form of dementia. I will never forget one specific interaction that taught me a valuable lesson
on the impact of those working in healthcare. There was an elderly resident in the facility that was
known to be difficult to deal with. She would incessantly cry out "Save me!" although there was
nothing wrong. Because this was typical behavior for the women, the people around her would often
pay little attention to her. One afternoon I saw that this women's cries were irritating the other
residents in the dayroom. I went up to the women and began talking to her to try to calm her down. I
was able to get her to realize that there was nothing wrong. Once she was calm I asked her if she
would like me to paint her nails, and she looked thrilled with my proposition. After I painted her
nails, I witnessed her entire mood change. Instead of shouting, she spent the rest of the afternoon
showing off her newly painted nails. I saw her entire mood change simply from me taking the time
to show her that I cared. When I become a nurse, my day will be full of opportunities to show
patients that I care, and that is something that I look forward

My Career Of Nursing
As a child, there were many professions that I wanted to be, and the one I found the most
captivating was nursing. Although I knew that nursing would be a challenge, I knew that I had to
pursue that specific career. Mainly because when I was in 5th grade, my father was always in and
out of the hospital, due to multiple conditions. Throughout the past 6 years, it has been motivating
and encouraging me to have the capability to help those who are in need. Also growing up, I found
that helping others fulfills my heart gives me gratification. Along the way, I have picked up a few
tricks about healthcare and my well–being. Aside from nursing, some other personal goals of mine's
is to have my own family, and to move to my dream city of San Diego. Mid way through my high
school years, I started to volunteer at the Sutter Health CMPC California Campus, as an assistant
nurse. In my assigned unit, my job was to facilitate and help assist the elderly with a condition
called Alzheimer's. For my first couple of months, I help feed the elderly and play learning activities
that stimulates the brain. Soon after that, I was assigned to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which
was the nursery. I enjoyed it delightfully as every week, I would go in and prepare rooms for
Vaginal or C–sections, aid mothers and prepare families for their newborn child while providing
useful information for new parents.. I continued to volunteer for a little over a year and took a short
program at school. At school I learned how to do CPR which was a long process but now i'm CPR
certified by The Red Cross. This volunteer experience was a stepping stone for me to explore my
career path and will allow me to experience what I want to do in life. Becoming a nurse is one of the
three goals I have. The other goal I would like to accomplish in life is to have a family of my own.
Growing up, I never had the perfect family or the typical family that my friends had. My parents
were together up until this year, it was a rocky ride but it didn't work out between them over the
years. My high school experience was already tough, before they separated but after that, I did not
have much hope. I did not think I could continue on with school because everything

Nursing Career Path
My desire to pursue a career in adult nursing is because I believe this to be one the most fulfilling
and worthwhile careers to choose. While I understand that nursing is such a diverse and challenging
career, being able to help people in their moment of need would make all these challenges
worthwhile. Nursing is an exciting career path with a wide range of opportunities, it is hugely
diverse and provides people with a chance to specialise in certain areas. I hope to make the most of
these opportunities when studying for my degree, and I am confident that I will find a career path
that is suited for me. I completed a Psychology degree in 2016, and this has given me a greater
understanding of people and the way in which they think, feel and behave. Consequently, I became

career. In this particular role, I had to work efficiently under pressure to ensure that patients were
being cared for, and made to feel calm. I learned that I have a friendly and sympathetic approach
towards patients, even during stressful times when we had to work quickly. I had a good relationship
with all my work colleagues. I treated them with respect and always showed a willingness to learn
from those with more experience. Often many times, I would stay later after my shift to ensure that
any problems that occurred during the day were dealt with, as I believe that tasks should always be

My Career In Nursing
During my long journey in nursing school, I realized that the idea I had of the nursing career and the
reality of it are two different things. Before starting in this path the only knowledge that I had about
the medical field was of caring and helping some sick family members. Eventually, those
experiences awoke a feeling in me to help those in need. Later on, that feeling turned into a calling,
and that was what influenced me to pursue a career in nursing. Nursing is the nation's largest health
care profession. At all times more nurses are needed to meet the growing demand for nursing care.
But in order to be a nurse you cannot enter into this profession with a money sign on your head.
People are not machines. What guide my practice are my personal philosophies, which are centered
on my strengths beliefs and personal values.
Personally, I think that to be in this field of work you need patience and critical thinking. Nurses
need to be caring, and we need to be prepared to handle any type of situation. In the health care field
is important to use a hands on approach. Nurses are not machines we are human beings. It is
important to treat our patients as human beings too, with a caring touch and respect (Cable, 2009).
Nurses act as patient advocates we are their voice, we need to be sure to meet all our client needs
within our scope of practice. As nurses we need to put our cultural values aside and use ethical
values, we cannot be judges or juries. I am going to use my

The career I am going to enter is nursing. I would like to work with children in pediatrics. The

bachelors of science and nursing (BSN) program that I plan to complete. This school is in Edmonds
Oklahoma and I have family in Edmonds and the town over. This is a great opportunity for me to
see a lot of my family that I've never met. Oklahoma is my next 4 years and I'm excited to take this
journey. I decided to go into nursing because I've had a passion to help and put others before me. I
took a test online that is supposed to help you find a good career path. On my test answer sheet
nursing was the highest ranked career for me. I've been in out of hospitals with my brother most of
my life. He has Spina Bifida, he has always had good relationship with his nurses. I've seen him in
pain and struggling with being there but his nurses can change his attitude so fast, I want to be a

Neonatal Nursing Career

  • 1. Neonatal Nursing Career It has always been a dream of mine to pursue a career as a Neonatal Nurse. I chose this career because my love for babies/infants started out at a young age, and as I developed in school, I learned that I have a passion for science and the medical field. Although this career is known to be more rigorous, I believe the rewards outweigh the challenges. Neonatal nurses work with newborn babies that were born with a variety of problems ranging from premature birth, cardiac malformations, not being fully developed, and more. These nurses also work with the families of the babies in comforting and educating the parents as to what to expect and how to properly care for their baby. The environment is typically fast paced and can be found in different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You must also be certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and/or Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing. Typically, there are about five to six years of study involved. I will be obtaining this education at Arkansas State University(ASU)–Beebe for my first two years and then plan on transferring to either Jonesboro or Conway to finish my education. I am also very interested in two really good programs with University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and/or the Baptist Health program. The great thing about them is that they will pay for your school as long as you sign to work for them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Nursing As A Second Career Education Story I decided to return to school, choosing nursing as a second career. It was intimidating and daunting. Will school be too hard? Will I fit in? Am I too old? I was afraid that I would lack the skills to handle a heavy load of school work along with full–time employment. I felt overwhelmed not really knowing all of the terminology used in the medical field, which was the biggest challenge I had to face. My husband once told me that if I could handle a nursing assistant job, then maybe I could be a good registered nurse. It was a long shot, but it gave me the firm idea of being a nurse. Working full time as a nursing assistant, reading all the nursing books I saw, made me familiar with the terminology and led me to know where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I firmly believe that communication and trust is one the most important aspects of nursing on top of the many reasons that i have discussed earlier. One of the main reasons for having a desire and wanting to pursue and a nursing career is my children they motivate me everyday to keep pushing striving and do better.I want to give them a better life than i had growing up which will in turn only make them want to be better and want more out of life when they get older, and to have a mind set that they are able to do anything that they put their minds and effort into. I say this because they see that i went and made it through the struggle of nursing school all the school events i missed and sports games. They always tell me they want to move into a big house like a mansion i often explain to them you have to work for all that you want , and that is what im doing with nursing school i too want to owe a big house ... Therefore, finding a career that suits your interest in addition to your pockets should always be a priority. In this paper, I will describe how a nursing career is arguably more promising than an interior designer. During my research, I learned the outlook, salary, qualifications, requirements and daily task required for each career. An interior designer is a thrilling career for those who are artistic and creative. However, the outlook for this career is not high and continuously decreasing in numbers yearly. • 21. The Nursing Career "Nurses entering this specialty must highlight not only their clinical skills, but also their critical thinking, advocacy and analytical abilities. Communities are dynamic, and nurses must adapt to and be able to provide patients with whatever care is needed." (Meadows, 2009). The PHN uses clinical knowledge along with an ecological viewpoint. A public health nurse can practice in clinics, health departments, faith–based organizations, mobile vans, homes, correctional facilities, occupations, community centers and hospitals. There is no setting that a public health nurse cannot practice to deliver a community–focused intervention. Delivering a successful intervention can be challenging but with learning competencies and skills, the PHN can achieve results. At all times the focus must be on the health needs of an entire population including imbalances and the unique needs of sub–populations. A PHN must be analytical by defining a problem and use data to determine an effective solution. A PHN must be able to communicate effectively, and understand how the media delivers information. Of great importance is the role of cultural competency in public health nursing. Cultural competency is the ability to effectively consider the worldviews, healthcare practices and preferences of people from diverse, racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. The PHN must put an emphasis on prevention and focuses attention to multiple determinates of health. The skill of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nursing As A Career Introduction Price, Hall, Angus and Peter (2013) "Nursing is described as a beautiful, rewarding and motivating career followed with an acknowledgement that nurses are underappreciated." (p.7) Nursing is a profession that is organized and abides by a code of ethics where the individual is expected to honour these implementations. Nurses spend their career saving and promoting life and one of the most significant parts of being a nurse is to be a patient advocate. Nursing students tend to frequently enter their program with fixated and preconceived philosophies of nursing as a career. However, nurses are conceptualized and portrayed in the media in a derogatory fashion. Thus, this causes the appearance of this career to be diminished and trivial. Traditional views of the nursing profession have been to shape nurses ' perceptions and expectations of nursing as a career. Despite negative imaging, students have different perceptions on nursing, and exploring unique reasoning for interest in this career is inspiring. Every nursing student embarks on a different path to success, all with underlying reasons for their choice in pursuing this career. Self– Discussion There is a vast variety of motives behind nursing as a career which shape the views towards the profession. Regarding the clinical nurse specialist, the national league for nursing education first drew up a plan to create the clinical nurse specialist role in the 1940s. The first master's degree program opened in 1950 at Rutgers University; the only specialty offered at that time was psychiatric nursing. By 1970, clinical nurse specialty certification had become available in a number of fields in response to increased specialization in health care, the development of new technologies, and need to provide alternative, cost–efficient health care in the physician shortage of the 1960s (Ferguson A 9). • 47. The Career of Nursing According to Boykin "Caring is the foundation of nursing" (Boykin et al, 2011) and in order to be a nurse, it is essential that a nurse can demonstrate and practice professional communication skills. Professional communication skills not only allows the nurse to provide different methods and tactics to communicate with patients of different needs and ages, but it enables the nurse to understand and to give the best possible care and outcome for the patient. Provision of information and handover is another major point for nurses and relates to professional communication. Nurses need to be able to get a detailed diagnosis from the patient through communication, and therefore allows for the nurse to handover vital information to other doctors or nurses who take over to provide the correct and best possible treatments and care. The nursing profession requires a nurse to uphold professional communication, provision of information and handover in order to care for the patient with the right treatment, and to provide the best health outcome. It is the nurses' responsibility to understand what it means to have professional communication skills. Not only does not being able to communicate affect the patient, but also it affects how the nurse is able to do his or her job to the best they can. Smith and Pressman say that the Institute of Medicine has released reports, which stress, "good communication is critical to ensuring safe and reliable nursing" (Smith & Pressman, 2010). Bad ... I later learned that while the monetary aspect of a career is important finding a career that I love and pays well never feel like work but rather a paid passion. Passion about a nursing career allows me to focus all my energy on an obtainable goal where I can enjoy the journey and the destination. My disabilities can make normal physical tasks a challenge and nursing can be difficult even for well–prepared individuals but sometimes a little pain now can help me down the road. However, my love of knowledge gives me an advantage since it allows since it allows me to immerse myself in subjects that interest me which is beneficial because education is an important factor for advancement in the nursing field. Moreover, my passion for nursing leads me to have a great hope for excellent job satisfaction which is something all career seeker hope to obtain. There are many challenges for those going into the nursing career field and even those who are well prepared can face difficult challenges. These challenges can be both physical and mental. Common physical challenges can be lifting patients and being able to restrain contrary patients which can require some physical strength along with the ability to take injuries from flailing patients. Intellectual strain can come from long nights in a high stress, loud environment, juggling responsibilities at work, and constant studying to stay current on all the best techniques. Additionally, a typical nursing schedule can be very hectic with long hours, double shifts, working holidays, weekends both night and day. Having hours like these can cause fatigue and anxiety with the juggling of professional and personal life, this particular challenge can be especially difficult if I want to start a family. To top it off, I must be around potential fatal or harmful substances like blood, feces, radiation, and sharp instruments all of which carry the risk infectious diseases that I could contract. • 51. Nursing And Nursing Careers Nursing Nursing has been an occupation that I have had my mind set on since I was in the second grade. I have always loved the idea of helping people fight their medical battles and being there for them, like someone once was for me. When I was born, I had to have a portion of my left lung taken out. I was not expected to live while my mom was pregnant with me and my sister. After I was born, I was rushed to surgery to remove part of my left lung. Because of the doctors and nurses that had been there for me while I was fighting my battles, I had survived and lead a healthy, normal life now. I want to do the same thing for someone else. I love the idea of being the so–called "superhero" of someone else's life. There are many shapes and sizes of the jobs that registered nurses may do. They provide health care for patients, inform patients of their health conditions, and "provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members" (summary). Registered nurses also "help doctors during exams and surgeries" and "dress wounds and incisions" (RN Careers). Registered nurses cater to their patient's physical and emotional needs. They comfort a patient and help them emotionally just as much as they help them physically. Nurses often spend a lot of time with patients, resulting in lasting relationships (20 reasons). Very seldomly do you find a career where relationships are built with your clients or patients. Nurses are very fortunate to get to experience these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. My Career Of Nursing As a child, there were many professions that I wanted to be, and the one I found the most captivating was nursing. Although I knew that nursing would be a challenge, I knew that I had to pursue that specific career. Mainly because when I was in 5th grade, my father was always in and out of the hospital, due to multiple conditions. Throughout the past 6 years, it has been motivating and encouraging me to have the capability to help those who are in need. Also growing up, I found that helping others fulfills my heart gives me gratification. Along the way, I have picked up a few tricks about healthcare and my well–being. Aside from nursing, some other personal goals of mine's is to have my own family, and to move to my dream city of San Diego. Mid way through my high school years, I started to volunteer at the Sutter Health CMPC California Campus, as an assistant nurse. In my assigned unit, my job was to facilitate and help assist the elderly with a condition called Alzheimer's. For my first couple of months, I help feed the elderly and play learning activities that stimulates the brain. Soon after that, I was assigned to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which was the nursery. I enjoyed it delightfully as every week, I would go in and prepare rooms for Vaginal or C–sections, aid mothers and prepare families for their newborn child while providing useful information for new parents.. I continued to volunteer for a little over a year and took a short program at school. At school I learned how to do CPR which was a long process but now i'm CPR certified by The Red Cross. This volunteer experience was a stepping stone for me to explore my career path and will allow me to experience what I want to do in life. Becoming a nurse is one of the three goals I have.
