Personal Narrative : A Volleyball Life
A Volleyball Life The gyms are full of hot and sweaty people. No air conditioning, but with just a
little wind from some fans over head. People bump into each other in the crowded rooms. Whistles
are blowing, players are yelling with excitement, while some are upset about a loss. Teams are
winning and teams are losing. Outside, the beach waves are washing up onto the sand. The sounds
of seagulls' wings flapping against the air. Children splashing the water with excitement. The first
match of the day is being played. The game is tight. Teams are going back and forth. The

back in the game. They expand their score to 10–9. One side of the crowd is cheering of excitement,
while the other is incomplete shock. Twisters expand to a lead of 15–10. Crowd is hot, tired, but
also excited for the game. Then it stops, becomes silent. Both teams, go and sit at their benches,
while the officials meet in the middle to talk about the previous play. It has been five minutes since
the play was out on pause. Still no decision has been made. So the officials call in the line judges.
After about 8 minutes of discussion, the officials come over the microphone. " We were having
troubles of a call. There were a total of 3 different calls made. The "down" official called the ball
out, while the line judge called it in. Then you guys put your opinions in it and also called it both in

judges is that we are going to call the ball out, and give the ball to the Blackhawks. That was the
best decision to make", explained the first official. Shortly after the official call was made, some

My Vision At Centipede Soccer
Overview
My vision this summer came alive with the help of the Kokomo YMCA, when I was granted the
opportunity to coach Centipede Soccer. Centipede Soccer is the perfect introduction to the game of
soccer for children of the ages 3–5. The mission of this program is that the children will learn the
fundamentals of the game in a non–competitive atmosphere, while working on motor skills,
coordination and listening skills. The benefits of the Y's youth sports programs for the little ones are
big both on and off the field. My role as the coach was to find fun ways to make this a great first
time soccer experience for all the children by showcasing the different skills and objectives of the
game but also advocating new skills to maintain a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My first and probably most important duty as a coach to this younger age group was to make all
activities fun and easy to understand, but to also think about safety and the well–being of all my
players. Because this was many of the team's first soccer experience, going over the proper
equipment was key to do to ensure they were all protected with the right shoes and shin guards.
While watching the first few practices and games, it was becoming clear to see which areas needed
the most amount of work on and picking up on these things are vital to plan creative drills that will
improve each skill. All of my hard work with planning the lessons for the day to creating a positive
environment for the children to learn and thrive follows right along with the mission of Centipede
Soccer by instilling the importance of teamwork.
Objectives.
Within this Sport and Fitness Internship, it was my agreement to coach a minimum of 40 hours at
Darrough Chapel Park through a partnership with the Kokomo YMCA's Soccer Program. This
permitted me the chance to put all my knowledge and skills to the test, whether it was being recalled
from my soccer experience growing up or getting the first hand feel of how to apply what I have
learned from my courses at IU Kokomo University in the past semesters. Regardless of which
method gave me better insight on coaching, this internship has become a stepping stone in
showcasing my efforts don't go unnoticed and that I am going to do great things

Indiana State University Construction Essay
According to an article on the Indiana State University website over the construction started in
2010, of the 12 major construction projects due to finish, only one of them concerned the well–
being of our disabled students. Brought to the universities attention and fixed, the 2 lecture halls in
Holmstedt Hall were finally accessible to our disabled students. Does this mean that if we have halls
and buildings that are not accessible that our campus has the threat of having more construction in
the near future? With this, does it mean that until the construction is complete, our disabled students
will struggle even more? So in the end, how easy is it to get from point A to point B on this campus
with all the construction? Think about how it feels being someone who has a ... Show more content

fastest and easiest way to get to the other side of campus are now covered in dirt, bricks, trucks and
construction workers. Will construction every end or are we destined to live on a campus that will
forever be filled with gates blocking our every direction? In my interview with freshman Eric

Spartan Defense Is Not Costing The Team A Championship
Spartan defense is not costing the team a Championship
Every single person on this earth has a passion. No, I am not talking about fruit. I am talking about

person's gut. Passion. Comparable to a lot of guys in this world my passion is sports. Michigan State

defense was not "good" enough to compete at the highest collegiate level at the college football

When it comes to the Michigan State defense the experts are writing them off as not "good" enough
to win a championship, they forget to look at refined statistics, strength of schedule, and the overall
talent level of the defense as an entirety. It is hardly advertised that of the six teams that Michigan
State has played this year, not one, but two, Oregon and Air Force, are ranked in the top 6 of overall
rush offense, according to the official website of the NCAA. To Oregon, who is averaging 318.7
rush yards per game, Michigan State ceded only 123 rush yards on 43 attempts. The Spartan team
was similarly able to only allow Oregon one rushing touchdown, which is two scores less than their
per–game average. However, if you were to eliminate the Michigan State game rushing stats and
only conduct rushing stats for Oregon's other 5 games, they would be averaging 357.8 yards per
game which would rank them second in the country. While air force did manage to obtain a value
closer to their yards per game average of 335.4 yards per game falling 57 yards shy. While this does
not seem all that impressive, it is imperative to realize that with the triple option scheme that Air
Force runs a lot of rushing yards are going to be given up, what was vital was to limit the
touchdowns allowed through the running, which Michigan State was able to succeed in only
allowing two rushing touchdowns, holding them to

Bad Life Of John Dillinger
John Dillinger once said, "All my life I wanted to be a bank robber. Carry a gun and wear a mask.
Now that it's happened I guess I'm just about the best bank robber they ever had. And I sure am
happy." John Dillinger started his life with a traumatizing event that led him to commiting crimes at
a young age. Since he was used to breaking the law he was doing this all throughout his life either
by himself or with his gang, without a second thought. John Dillinger was a misunderstood criminal
of the nineteen thirties because of his mother's death he acted out at a young age causing him to be
neglected by his dad. Since he was neglected he had to steal in order to survive making him used to
commiting crimes.

shootout killing a police officer (Ryan, 2017). After they were brought to prison, after about three
months Dillinger faked his way out of prison, telling guards that a piece of wood shaped like a gun
was real. It was later found out that John Dillinger's lawyers bribed the guards to let him free using
the gun as an excuse (Ryan, 2017). During the Dillinger Gangs run of robberies they stole over one

government had never wanted any outlaw more than him. Citizens of the United States were sent

to find him (Stuttman, 1994). Dillinger was hard to find because he got plastic surgery to change his

Essay on Jerry Sandusky Case
Naomi Abreu
Currently in the news, there is a major event that pertains to the topic of the psychology of trauma.
This event is the investigation of Jerry Sandusky and his alleged conviction of sexual abuse. Jerry
Sandusky, an assistant football coach at Penn State University, has been accused of sexually abusing
boys in the basement of his home and in the school workout room and locker room. This
investigation was triggered by one of the victims who went to the police and since then, more
victims have come out as well. This boy stated that the attacks lasted for about four years. Jerry

However, I would have to agree with the first half and say that Joe Paterno's actions were
inadequate. Although Joe Paterno reported what he saw to the Penn State president his responsibility
shouldn't have ended there. Yes, he fulfilled his obligation to report any illegal actions on campus
but when the Penn State President chose not to take legal action Paterno should have made the
moral decision and had gone to the authorities. Legally, he fulfilled his obligation and therefore no
longer holds any responsibility in the eyes of the legal system. In the eyes of morality though, his
responsibility in the matter was not over just because he reported it to who he was supposed to. This
major problem should have been dealt with a long time ago. It's just a moral obligation that Joe
Paterno should have acted upon. So yes I feel he deserved to be fired. Everyone who knew about it
should have reported it to legal authorities. His great athletic achievements and mutual respect
should have pushed towards the issue being resolved and not swept under the rug for it to come out
years after and now resulting in him being fired. Every action has a reaction and in this case the
reaction is due to Paternos lack of action.
The child sex abuse scandal overall is a public relations disaster that the university is likely to be
dealing with for years to come. I definitely don't believe this case was

one of those careers you can truly make a difference in people's lives. I want to become a social

helping people face problems that they can't face on their own. I love working with children,
families, and being able to experience working with others and helping them face obstacles that

be helping these people overcome obstacles they thought they'd never overcome. While growing up

"Oranges" by Gary Soto Essay
"Oranges"
By Gary Soto
Gary Soto was born April 12, 1952, in Fresno, California to Mexican–American parents. His
grandparents emigrated from Mexico during the Great Depression and found jobs as farm laborers.
Soto grew up poor in the San Joaquin Valley and learned that hard work pays off through chores,
such as moving lawns, picking grapes, painting houses, and washing cars.
When Gary was five his father died as the result of a factory accident, and his mother was left to
raise her three children with the help of her parents. Soto describes his family as an "illiterate"
family. They did not have books and were not encouraged to read. In fact, Gary did not start writing

Brightness shows how much power the orange actually has. The references in the story build up the
power of the orange.
Soto talks about sacrifice, and we all go through that. What we do to please other people. The boy
had to give up his orange because he didn't have enough money. He told his girlfriend that she can
chose any kind of candy found in the isle, and she chose a chocolate bar that cost a dime, now the
boy only had a nickel and a pair of oranges in his pocket. Instead of feeling embarrassed and cheep
in front of his new girl, the boy decided to put up the nickel and an orange on the counter for the
saleslady.
Oranges are rare in the winter and their encounter might be precious. They convey a powerful
feeling. Making fire in the hands represents that he is in love. That he feels God like, he feels tough
like he can do it all when he's around his girlfriend.
The tone of the poem is simple with broken down sentences. Adolescent love is simple much like
childhood love. There are the sweaty hands, heavy breathing, butterflies in the stomach, but when
kids fall in love, its not true love, it most likely is just a crush. The words that are used in the poem
are not complex but short and meaningful. When reading between the lines, and reading the poem
more than twice, it is much easier to put two and two together and have a better

A Letter Of My Friendly Classmates
Responding to the first assignment of English 1190, I wrote a memo of one of my friendly
classmates. I've been lucky enough to be able to know and write about a courageous, friendly
classmate of mine Taylor "Tay" Lambert. Through my interview with Tay, I learned about the life of
a courageous, fun loving and smart women.
Education:–
Tay graduated from Lake View high school in 2014, after four years of schooling. Later on, she
attended Macomb and decided to major in laboring delivery nurse. This is her second year at
Macomb and she plans to transfer to Wayne state university after this year. Not only she wants to
transfer to Wayne State but also she's planning on living in the campus. As a teenager Tay always
knew she wanted to major in nursing, but she never was sure what kind of nursing she wanted to
major in. However after weeks of searching online about the kinds of nursing there are, laboring
delivery nurse got her attention. Tay started searching about this major and she started watching
videos and knowing more and more about this major. Finally, Tay decided that this is what she
wants to do on everyday of her life in the future. Her love to babies and pregnant women also
played a big role on her decision. Away from her interests in nursing Tay always thought that the
idea of taking cooking class to learn how to cook sounds so much fun. On the other hand she always
hated the math classes that she had to take in her high school years and the last year of college.

Human Resource Department Of Indiana State University
It is certainly not uncommon for organizations to struggle when developing their new employee
orientation process. As is often the case in many organizations of varying sizes, there tends to exists
a mix of employees who clearly see the need and benefits of a formal orientation process, and a
contingency of employees who do not. Generally speaking, however, research has proven that when
employees are afforded the time and effort required on the part of senior managers to develop a
well–structured orientation process they stand to not only gain confidence in their abilities to
perform the required tasks related to their position, but also gain a sense of security and confidence
for the organization as a whole. One particular strategy that an organization may employee in
developing new staff, is formulating a specific training program by eliciting the input from
department managers. For example, the human resource department of Indiana State University
allows for their department managers to be explained the overall process of orientating a new
faculty member into their university system through a program called "ISUNEW" ("A Supervisor's
Guide to the New Employee Welcome Program, n.d.). By its intended design, the program allows
for department supervisors to collectively be explained the expectations of the university pertaining
to the orientation of new employees through one universal venue. This methodology of delivery

Friendship and Best Buddies
What is Friendship?

Abstract
Friendship is universal. It can bridge societal gaps of gender, race, social class, and differences in
abilities. College is a time of personal growth, and friendships have a tremendous impact on the
development and experiences of an individual. Through Best Buddies, college students and adults in
the community with disabilities have the opportunity to share friendships. These relationships bring
people of all abilities, interests, and talents together, as equals and as friends. I chose to look at these

By taking these stories and pictures and putting them in a cohesive format, I hope to pass something
on to our organization and on our campus as I graduate that will continue to remind others not only
of the work that has gone into this organization, but more importantly, the incredible friendships and
experiences that have resulted and far outweighed any obstacles. I chose to create a project using
pictures and music to portray the friendships in Best Buddies, compiling this information into a
brief, concise, and highly visual arrangement that can be used to explain and depict for others what
words cannot always
do justice to. The goal is to describe the friendships formed between people from what could be
considered two very different worlds, and the influence these friendships have had on the many
individuals involved. As I began the planning process for my thesis, I was overwhelmed with the
possibilities of what I could do or wanted to do and which direction I should go. I eventually
decided to do a creative project looking specifically at Best Buddies, but more generally at
friendship, as something to summarize my career and all I have learned in my time at Ball State
through the Special Education and Honors College programs that I have been a part of. The
anticipated implications of this project were to represent the relationships that have affected students
on campus through friendships with people who have disabilities.

The Economic Impacts of Budget Cuts to the CSU and UC Systems
This paper will focus on the economic impacts of the policy decision by California Governor Brown
to decrease funding of the California State University and University of California systems by way
of looking at the impact on the economy of less college graduates. I will do this by looking at two
variables. I will first look at the multiplier effect of the state putting money into the California State
University system and what will happen as a result of the divestment due to the budget cuts. I will
then look at the decrease in the median income due to the fact that the budget cuts will cause a
decrease in enrollment which means there will be fewer college graduates and college graduates
earn more money than their non–graduate counterparts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(California State Governor's Office) According to a report presented to the Office of the Chancellor
by IFC International for every one dollar spent by the state on the California State University system
"the CSU generates $5.43 for California's economy annually. When enhanced earnings by graduates
are taken into account, the annual return rises to more than $23 for each $1 invested." (ICF
International) This, however, does not necessarily mean than the $542.4 million in cuts is multiplied
by $23, resulting in a total decrease of $12.475 billion in spending. This is because the relationship
isn't necessarily completely linear. Since the decrease is only 8.5% then the relationship might still
be linear, which would mean that there will be $12.475 billion in spending lost. The other reality
might be that it is not linear, which would mean the total loss of spending would be less than
$12.475 billion.
Another area I will look at for the California State University system's budget cuts is the resulting
enrollment cuts. With less money coming in from the state the universities have to save money by
enrolling fewer students. However, the money cut from the CSU budget doesn't have a direct
relationship to a decrease in enrollment. The change in enrollment is determined by the universities
and is filled every semester. Enrollment is scheduled to decrease in

Arkansas State University : A Long Way Over The Years

Arkansas state university has a long history that goes back many years, at one time it was not even a

state university was founded in April, 1909, by Act 100 of the 37th Arkansas General Assembly as 1
of 4 AR high schools to teach agriculture, horticulture, and the art of textile manufacturing. Victor

12, 1931, the first day of spring semester classes. In spite of the total loss, the Principal found
temporary class locations around campus, and classes continued on schedule. Construction began
immediately on a new Administration/Classroom Building, which opened in 1932. It was named
Wilson Hall, after Trustee R. E. Lee Wilson, who provided most of the men, equipment, and mules
for the construction of the new building. By the 1930s, the academic program had changed into a 4
year college. The following year, the name was changed to Arkansas State College. Graduate
programs at the master 's level were offered beginning in 1955, and that year saw a major change.
Walter Strong, Fred Turner, and Larry Williams became the 1st black students on campus and,
although Williams dropped out before graduating, Strong and Turner went on to become the first
black graduates. In 1970, Turner returned to the campus as the 1st black ROTC instructor. During
the 1950s, Arkansas State 's growths rapidly outgrow other schools. The school began comparing
itself to the University of Arkansas. Thus, as the 50th anniversary of the school approached, they
began a campaign to get university status. They were successful eight years later. On Jan. 17, 1967,
the college became Arkansas State University.

Mentors For Kids
For my twelve service hours, I decided to dedicate my time to one organization. That organization is
known as College Mentors for Kids. College Mentors for Kids is a program specifically designed
for elementary and college aged students. It is a nonprofit organization that works with over 2,000
students and mentors one day a week on a college campus. This program can be found throughout
nine states and on 33 different college campuses. I am fortunate enough to be attending Ball State
University, which is home to the largest chapter in the country for the program. The program's main
focus is to acknowledge the importance of higher education and career growth as you get older.

Indiana University Southeast Interviews
Indiana University Southeast provides an array of opportunities for each of its students. It allows
them to study in a university with small class sizes and dedicated professors and provides multiple
organizations and communities to fit each student's desires. The four students interviewed by our
group expressed their complete satisfaction about Indiana University Southeast. Out of the nine
promises IUS provides for its students, four of them were met by each person interviewed. These
four include: degrees for dreamers, doers, and leaders, faculty you admire, teachers who inspire,

Essay about My Fantastic Freshmen Roommate
When I told people that I was going to Ball State University they then went on to ask who I would
be rooming with since lots of other people that I knew were going here as well. I never wanted to
room with my best friend or anyone that I knew going into college. You always hear about awful
roommmate stories but whose to say that that happens to everyone. Pretty much everyone told me
that if I chose a random roommate It would most likely turn sour. They were so wrong. I was
determined to have a fresh start in college and meet new people so I was willing to take that chance,
and I'm glad I did. Having heard these myths about college roommates from so many previous
students it did in fact affect my thoughts about heading off to college. But ... Show more content on

Once I had walked in the room I saw that Natali (my new roommate) had Harry Potter posters
plastered all along her side of the room. I knew at that moment that we would get along just fine.
Now not everyone will immediately feel the way I did about Natali if you go in with the mindset
that you will hate your roommate just from everything that you have been told. The thing to
remember is to go into it with an open–mind.
Natali was on her way out when I arrived to unpack all of my stuff.
"Hey! I'm Natali. Natali Bacon." Just hearing her last name made me laugh on the inside. Other than
the quick hellos that we exchanged earlier that day we didn't see each other until later on that night.
It was awkward to say the least almost like when you are stuck in an elevator with a complete
stranger, except permanently. Things gradually got less weird as the night went on but for the most
part you can imagine that it was still pretty uncomfortable. We both gave it time and after spending
two full days inside together due to the scorching temperatures outside we slowly found out how
alike we were. We both loved the same TV shows like New Girl, Dexter, and Breaking Bad.
Literally we watched almost a complete season of Dexter together before the first day of school
even started. I just remember thinking to myself during my first night at Ball State, "I am so glad
everyone was wrong". Natali turned out to be a superb roommate. In the beginning I wasn't looking

Ministry Reflection Paper
When you first begin a class you never know what to expect. When I first began Intro to Ministry, I
did not know the level of insight that I would have about myself and about the character of God. I
have been able to combine the things that have happened in my past and things that are happening
now to try to paint God's picture in my life to come. Although you do not need to pinpoint the exact
moment in time when you received your call for it to be legible, I am thankful that I do. I think it
was a series of people and events unfolding in my life and God opened my eyes to the plans He had
for me that lead me to that night. The day that I accepted my calling to be a youth pastor (December
30,2015) I did not go into that evening thinking "I'm going to listen to God and go into Ministry" –
but I guess you never do. Since then God has been preparing me emotionally, physically, and
mentally through programs that I have gone through, people in my life such as my friends, family,
and professors I have gotten to know during the short time that I have been at Indiana Wesleyan. I
am nowhere close to being where I want to be but that is the beauty of accepting God's call into any
type of ministry, you do not have to have it all figured out, you just have to trust Him."God is a God
of infinite variety, and His call comes to people in many ways." (Drury, K. Pg.67). I didn't receive

Dispute System Design
Summary
The grievance procedure for current employees at Indiana State University applies to full–time with
benefits (37.5/40 hours per week) or regular part–time with benefits (20 or more hours per week).
The policy doesn't apply to staff members that are in the introductory period of there employment
and any sexual harassment and other discriminations such as race, sex, age, national origin, sexual
orientation, religion, disability, or veteran status. The first step is mediation and it is the employee's
obligation to make an appointment to talk to the employee's immediate supervisor within two weeks
of the confrontation. The steps taken when meeting with the supervisor is: 1. State the issue in an
accurate written statement. 2. Have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

2. Strengths
Indiana State's process of policy grievance is a three–step system in which the employee has to take
action and file a form to the supervisor for an appointment. The supervisor then looks over the file
and then meets with the employee and witnesses. Then the supervisor has five days to go over the
facts presented to him and returns a response to the employee and the human resources department.
This is an example of building a consultation before, then giving the feedback after reviewed.
The process of the second step if the grievance is not resolved the employee has to contact the
human resources employee relations representative. The form given to the employee is marked with
questions such as: where did the incident occur, facts and exact information, and a suggested
resolution. This step goes with putting the focus on interests and keeping it

The State Of Michig A Fascinating Area
The state of Michigan is a fascinating area. From its mitten–like shape, to its historical background,
to the presence of the Great Lakes, Michigan has a story unlike any others. One very important part
of Michigan's story is how water has shaped the land making up the state. Seeing as the Great Lakes
surround Michigan, it is obvious that the hydrologic system plays a great role in the water supply
and the ecosystem of the Great Lakes. The hydrologic cycle includes evaporation, condensation,
precipitation, groundwater, transpiration and runoff, all of which keep the Great Lakes functioning
year after year. The University Corporation of Atmospheric Research developed an image to simply
explain the hydrologic cycle as well as graphs explaining how each of the elements of the
hydrologic cycle affects The Great Lakes on a monthly basis (located below).
The hydrologic cycle keeps the Great Lakes up and running. Without it, Michigan would not have
the inhabitants it does today. The abundant supply of water allows a vast array of wildlife to live in
Michigan, and made it a desirable place for early settlers to inhabit. However, the Great Lakes did
not just appear out of thin air. There is a long history of how the Great Lakes came to be.
The long history of the formation of the Great Lakes and Michigan start with the impact of glaciers.
Throughout history, there have been four major periods where glaciers moved across Michigan,
shaping and forming the land. Every time a glacier

Family Resource Centers Essay
Family Resource Centers
Half the children in this country live in homes in which one or both parents work. Twelve million
children in this country do not have health insurance, and over 4.5% of all children are victims of
suspected child abuse or neglect (Doktor and Poertner). Believe it or not, these are all indicators of
the demand for Family Resource Centers within our school systems. Many question whether Family
Resource Centers are worth the money the state pours into them. However, in serving students,
parents and teachers, there should be no question of their significance. Due to The Kentucky
Education Reform Act in the early 1990's we have seen the development of Family Resource

In an interview with David Messer (operator of the Olive Hill Family Resource Center) I learned
that the resource centers say, " Our mission with children is to help remove the physical,
educational, and social barriers in order to see them succeed in school." and that " Our mission with
parents is to empower them with resources and skill needed to meet the challenges in life." The
mission statement of the resource centers may vary according to the area, but most followed the
same concept. Growing up in a school system with Family Resource Centers, I must agree that they
live up to their mission statement. They try to remove education barriers by offering tutoring,
physical barriers by offering special education or medical assistance, and social barriers by
providing students with anything to help them not stand out in the crowd.
Family Resource Centers have a unique structure. Referring back to the Orientation Guide for
Newly Employed FR/YSC Coordinators published by MSU's College of Education, Like any
program, they have a director that is the supervisor over everything in the program for example
keeping track of the funding and programs offered and the staff. In addition to the director you have
the advisory councils. This group advises, councils and assists the center and it encourages
interaction among the community, the school and the center. It consists of ten to twenty members
that are made up of students, parents,

Importance Of Perseverance
Perseverance leads to success through ambition and endurance. Two great examples of people who
persevered in life are Ruth and Joni Eareckson Tada. Ruth, a godly woman, faced many difficulties,
but achieved her goal and God's favor with the help of perseverance. Joni Eareckson Tada used
perseverance to overcome the many obstacles she faced after suffering a tragic accident that left her
paralyzed. Both these women could have given up and walked away from the situations they faced,
but they decided to persevere, leading to triumph.
Everybody faces obstacles in life, whether they be small or big. How people react to the obstacles
placed in their lives is what builds people's character. This is where perseverance plays a key role
with the help of endurance and ambition. Perseverance is the ability to overcome obstacles even
when you feel failure is inevitable. It is running an extra mile when exhausted or staying up late in
order to finish a paper. Perseverance is the ability to overcome emotional, physical, and even
financial failure. It is never giving up even though "the going gets tough."
Joni Eareckson Tada was an ordinary girl, enjoying life, until one day her life was completely
changed. Joni suffered a tragic acident. She dived into a swimming pool and shattered her neck.
Chang 2
This accident left her in a wheelchair as a quadraplegic. Joni beautifully explained how it felt being
in a wheelchair when she said, "In a way, I wish I could take to heaven my old, tattered Everest and
Jennings wheelchair. I would point to the empty seat and say, 'Lord, for decades I was paralyzed in
this chair. But it showed me how paralyzed You must have felt to be nailed to Your Cross. My
limitations taught me something about the limitations You endured when You laid aside your robes
of state and put on the indignity of human flesh.' At that point, with my strong and glorified body, I
might sit in it, rub the armrests with my hands, look up at Jesus, and add, 'The weaker I felt in this
chair, the harder I leaned on You. And the harder I leaned, the more I discovered how strong You
are. Thank you, Jesus for learning obedience in your suffering...You gave me

Chasing The American Dream: IU And Indiana Bloomington (Uofl)
Chasing the American Dream
As Dan Rather once said, "A college degree is the key to realizing the american dream, well worth
the financial sacrifice because it is supposed to open the door to a world of opportunity." The two
colleges that people are impelled on attending are the University of Indiana Bloomington (IU) and
the University of Louisville (UofL). There are a variety of similarities between this colleges. An
example is that both colleges have a student–faculty ratio of 17:1. In this non–biased based essay
there will comparing and contrasting between these college paths. The expenses at IU and UofL are
similar in a few ways. One similarity is the total costs in state. The estimated total cost on campus in
state for IU is $24,719 (BigFuture). The estimated total cost on campus in state for UofL is $24,344
(College Navigator). However, there is a difference in the total costs out of state. The estimated total
costs on campus out of state for IU is $48,072 (BigFuture). The estimated total costs on campus out
of state for UofL is $32,232 (College Navigator). When comparing prices between the college that
have been chosen, UofL would be the less expensive choice.

His career as an artist mainly started in 1951, he usually painted cowboys and Indians in various

though is his works based on comic strips. This all began with a painting he made of Mickey Mouse
in 1960 for his children. By 1961 Lichtenstein was completely dedicated to the making of art from
mass–produced, merchandising images. His comic–strip paintings, such as Good Morning, Darling,
are blowups of the original cartoon characters, reproduced by hand, with the same technique of
benday dots and bright primary colors used in printing. This result was a blend of commercial art
and abstraction. He tried to use brilliant colors outlined in black to emphasis the visual impact.
These painting made him famous and the first one–man show of his comic strip paintings was in
New York City in 1962. It was a major success and by 1968 the interest in his artwork was

Transitioning From High School At College Is Always A...
Transitioning from high school to college is always a struggle for any young adult. The idea of
picking your own classes, living on campus, and separating from lifelong friends is extremely
overwhelming to process. However, when transitioning to college you are now back in the
underclassmen category and must work your way back up the "status ladder." College opens up a
new world that individuals must explore in order to make the best of their first year. But no matter
what college we attend, our freshman year of college will always have a strong impact on our lives.
Over the years as music, technology, television shows, and trends become different, our experiences
and memories of freshman year will never change. So when interviewing my Great Aunt Arlene

like attending Illinois State University beginning in June of 1977.
Speaking with her about her life as a college student back in 1977 allowed me to share another

Collegiate Athletics Vs. Indiana State University Board Of...
Collegiate athletics is growing each day and the athletes are becoming faster, stronger, and quicker
each day. As the competition on the field improves, the risk of injury also becomes more of a
possibility. While strength and conditioning coaches have created athletes who are able to withstand
more physical play and can rehab quicker from injury, they have also created monsters on the
playing field and court. As collegiate athletics grows into a multibillion dollar industry, the players
expect to have more benefits available to them, including workers' compensation. We have seen a
variety of situations arise recently were players are looking to secure their own safety when playing
such physical games.
In 1976, a football student–athlete at Indiana State University suffered an injury that left him as a

the Indiana State Supreme Court. The court decided that "the Indiana court of appeals incorrectly
concluded that Rensing was an employee under the Workmen's Compensation Act" and therefore
Indiana State University was not responsible to provide Rensing with any medical or disability

I was seen as a smart, young, athletic coming out of college and with some convincing I got a

was great especially because this was my first big job. Through the years I have been working my

debt can be stressful. However Ball State happens to offer over 500 scholarships for incoming
students, 329 on–campus employers, and every four out of five students receive merit–based
financial aid. In fact a student at Ball State on average only borrows $27,000 in loans compared to
$35,000 an average student in the U.S. may borrow. While ultimately the main goal of a college
university is to recruit more students and increase their current knowledge. Many universities focus
on other aspects such as research development. Ball State happens to encourage students and faculty
to bring forth any research ideas they may have. Two programs called Sponsored Projects
Administration and Ball State Innovation Corporation (BSIC), is meant for finding and funding new
research opportunities, in attempt of educating others. The Rivers of Research is apart of an ongoing
research program that is examining how we as human beings affect watery ecosystems. This
program was developed by Mark Pyron who is a biology professor at Ball State. Mr.Pyron is
focused on discovering the influences humans have on potential public drinking waterways within
America, since a third of the U.S. consumes their water from river banks.

Temple Grandin Reflection Paper
Reflection: Temple Grandin Before watching the movie, I have never heard of it before. I never
knew it existed. Temple Grandin is another inspiring movie that I have been glad to have watched. It
deals with the autism of a woman and tells the inspiration true story of her. Temple Grandin, a
young autistic woman, is extraordinarily gifted. She has a remarkable connection to animals and a
brilliant mind. This biopic follows Temple from her late teens –– as she struggles with both her own
limitations and some narrow–mindedness in the communities around her –– to her startling first
accomplishments. With the help of a supportive family and one progressive teacher, Temple tackles
misconceptions about her condition, the sexism of mid–20th ... Show more content on

She became an animal scientist and a professor at the university. The protagonist, Temple Grandin,
was able to explain and describe very skillfully how a person with this condition feels, hears, sees,
perceives and thinks. She helps people peek inside the mind of a person with Asperger's syndrome –
which facilitates good communication and better understanding. She demonstrates the importance of
pictures in the mind of autisitc people and how powerful their visual skills can be. Another reason
why I think this movie is such a great, inspirational movie is because of how a woman with autism
can accomplish something so inspiring that shows people with autism shouldn't be viewed as
someone who can't do much or someone who doesn't have the skills and knowledge to do what
normal people can. Temple Grandin has probably made a big difference in what people think of
ones who have autism and I think that is great. Just because a person has autism doesn't necessarily
mean that people don't have autism should view them as someone lower than themselves. People
with autism are only stronger–willed and even though they may have difficulty with life, Temple
Grandin shows that it doesn't matter if you have autism or not because you can achieve your goals,
you just need that determination in your life. From this movie, I have learned that no matter how
small other people may think of you, you have the

A Study On Indiana State University

Indiana State University
Garbology Study of Indiana State Students
Abstract
Garbology can be beneficial when studying the waste of a certain group of people. I studied the
trash of two different Indiana State students; the first was an environmentally aware student that
lives off campus, while the second was a student who has no environmental concern. First, I asked
them to complete a survey on their use of waste from Global Footprint Network, this would
calculate how much land area their lifestyle will take to support, and helped me determine how
environmental aware they were of their actions. Then, I asked each group to collect all trash they
use during the entire week (other than certain unsanitary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

She sorted through the trash of several different categories of waste, trash, paper, plastic, and
aluminum. Out of what she collected, "76% was not recyclable and 23% could be recycled" (page
1). In addition, Indiana State student, Matt McColley also did a research project on the waste
production in the Lincoln Quads. Jeffery Mervis 2012 states, The United States, for example,
produces roughly 12 billion tons of waste each year, of which only 350 million tons are classified as
municipal solid waste" (p.668).
Methods
I collected data through surveys, and test studies. I picked two different people to study. I had these
two people take a survey to evaluate how environmental friendly they believe to be. First, I asked
them to complete a survey on their use of waste from Global Footprint Network
(http://www.footprintnetwork.org/en/index.php/GFN/page/calculators/); this will calculate how
much land area their lifestyle will take to support. This just gives me an idea on how environmental
aware they are of their actions and how much concern it opposes on them. The second part of the
study consists of the students collecting their trash for the week. These students have agreed to keep
the trash they use throughout the week of March 9 until March 13, including non–recyclable items
and recyclable items, excluding food and unsanitary products. At the end

People bump into each other in the crowded rooms. Whistles are blowing, players are yelling with excitement, while some are upset about a loss. Teams are winning and teams are losing. The first match of the day is being played. The game is tight. Teams are going back and forth. The Blackhawks are in the lead at one point then the Twisters are in the lead the next. Players wondering to themselves, how did the Blackhawks get this big of a lead? Twisters fans quiet, not much to say. All the spectators are in complete shock. The players make a slow walk back out to the court. The Twisters break the Blackhawks serving streak to make it 10–4. The Twisters are back in the game. They expand their score to 10–9. One side of the crowd is cheering of excitement, while the other is incomplete shock. Twisters expand to a lead of 15–10. Crowd is hot, tired, but also excited for the game. Then it stops, becomes silent. Both teams, go and sit at their benches, while the officials meet in the middle to talk about the previous play. It has been five minutes since the play was out on pause. Still no decision has been made. So the officials call in the line judges. After about 8 minutes of discussion, the officials come over the microphone. " We were having troubles of a call. There were a total of 3 different calls made. The "down" official called the ball out, while the line judge called it in. Then you guys put your opinions in it and also called it both in and out. Since there is no camera, we can't do a video review. Our choice as the 2 officials and 2 line judges is that we are going to call the ball out, and give the ball to the Blackhawks. That was the best decision to make", explained the first official. Shortly after the official call was made, some parts of the was cheering because they were pleased with the call, ... • 3. My Vision At Centipede Soccer Overview My vision this summer came alive with the help of the Kokomo YMCA, when I was granted the opportunity to coach Centipede Soccer. Centipede Soccer is the perfect introduction to the game of soccer for children of the ages 3–5. The mission of this program is that the children will learn the fundamentals of the game in a non–competitive atmosphere, while working on motor skills, coordination and listening skills. The benefits of the Y's youth sports programs for the little ones are big both on and off the field. My role as the coach was to find fun ways to make this a great first time soccer experience for all the children by showcasing the different skills and objectives of the game but also advocating new skills to maintain a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My first and probably most important duty as a coach to this younger age group was to make all activities fun and easy to understand, but to also think about safety and the well–being of all my players. Because this was many of the team's first soccer experience, going over the proper equipment was key to do to ensure they were all protected with the right shoes and shin guards. It is hardly advertised that of the six teams that Michigan State has played this year, not one, but two, Oregon and Air Force, are ranked in the top 6 of overall rush offense, according to the official website of the NCAA. To Oregon, who is averaging 318.7 rush yards per game, Michigan State ceded only 123 rush yards on 43 attempts. The Spartan team was similarly able to only allow Oregon one rushing touchdown, which is two scores less than their per–game average. However, if you were to eliminate the Michigan State game rushing stats and only conduct rushing stats for Oregon's other 5 games, they would be averaging 357.8 yards per game which would rank them second in the country. While air force did manage to obtain a value closer to their yards per game average of 335.4 yards per game falling 57 yards shy. While this does not seem all that impressive, it is imperative to realize that with the triple option scheme that Air Force runs a lot of rushing yards are going to be given up, what was vital was to limit the touchdowns allowed through the running, which Michigan State was able to succeed in only allowing two rushing touchdowns, holding them to ... As is often the case in many organizations of varying sizes, there tends to exists a mix of employees who clearly see the need and benefits of a formal orientation process, and a contingency of employees who do not. Generally speaking, however, research has proven that when employees are afforded the time and effort required on the part of senior managers to develop a well–structured orientation process they stand to not only gain confidence in their abilities to perform the required tasks related to their position, but also gain a sense of security and confidence for the organization as a whole. One particular strategy that an organization may employee in developing new staff, is formulating a specific training program by eliciting the input from department managers. For example, the human resource department of Indiana State University allows for their department managers to be explained the overall process of orientating a new faculty member into their university system through a program called "ISUNEW" ("A Supervisor's Guide to the New Employee Welcome Program, n.d.). I chose to create a project using pictures and music to portray the friendships in Best Buddies, compiling this information into a brief, concise, and highly visual arrangement that can be used to explain and depict for others what words cannot always do justice to. The goal is to describe the friendships formed between people from what could be considered two very different worlds, and the influence these friendships have had on the many individuals involved. As I began the planning process for my thesis, I was overwhelmed with the possibilities of what I could do or wanted to do and which direction I should go. I eventually decided to do a creative project looking specifically at Best Buddies, but more generally at friendship, as something to summarize my career and all I have learned in my time at Ball State through the Special Education and Honors College programs that I have been a part of. The Economic Impacts of Budget Cuts to the CSU and UC Systems This paper will focus on the economic impacts of the policy decision by California Governor Brown to decrease funding of the California State University and University of California systems by way of looking at the impact on the economy of less college graduates. I will do this by looking at two variables. I will first look at the multiplier effect of the state putting money into the California State University system and what will happen as a result of the divestment due to the budget cuts. I will then look at the decrease in the median income due to the fact that the budget cuts will cause a decrease in enrollment which means there will be fewer college graduates and college graduates earn more money than their non–graduate counterparts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (California State Governor's Office) According to a report presented to the Office of the Chancellor by IFC International for every one dollar spent by the state on the California State University system "the CSU generates $5.43 for California's economy annually. When enhanced earnings by graduates are taken into account, the annual return rises to more than $23 for each $1 invested." (ICF International) This, however, does not necessarily mean than the $542.4 million in cuts is multiplied by $23, resulting in a total decrease of $12.475 billion in spending. This is because the relationship isn't necessarily completely linear. Since the decrease is only 8.5% then the relationship might still be linear, which would mean that there will be $12.475 billion in spending lost. The other reality might be that it is not linear, which would mean the total loss of spending would be less than $12.475 billion. Another area I will look at for the California State University system's budget cuts is the resulting enrollment cuts. With less money coming in from the state the universities have to save money by enrolling fewer students. However, the money cut from the CSU budget doesn't have a direct relationship to a decrease in enrollment. The change in enrollment is determined by the universities and is filled every semester. • 23. Ministry Reflection Paper When you first begin a class you never know what to expect. When I first began Intro to Ministry, I did not know the level of insight that I would have about myself and about the character of God. I have been able to combine the things that have happened in my past and things that are happening now to try to paint God's picture in my life to come. Although you do not need to pinpoint the exact moment in time when you received your call for it to be legible, I am thankful that I do. I think it was a series of people and events unfolding in my life and God opened my eyes to the plans He had for me that lead me to that night. The day that I accepted my calling to be a youth pastor (December 30,2015) I did not go into that evening thinking "I'm going to listen to God and go into Ministry" – but I guess you never do. Since then God has been preparing me emotionally, physically, and mentally through programs that I have gone through, people in my life such as my friends, family, and professors I have gotten to know during the short time that I have been at Indiana Wesleyan. I am nowhere close to being where I want to be but that is the beauty of accepting God's call into any type of ministry, you do not have to have it all figured out, you just have to trust Him."God is a God of infinite variety, and His call comes to people in many ways." (Drury, K. Pg.67). I didn't receive my calling in a damascus road way, instead God knew my heart and character so He gave me my calling in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. The State Of Michig A Fascinating Area The state of Michigan is a fascinating area. From its mitten–like shape, to its historical background, to the presence of the Great Lakes, Michigan has a story unlike any others. One very important part of Michigan's story is how water has shaped the land making up the state. Seeing as the Great Lakes surround Michigan, it is obvious that the hydrologic system plays a great role in the water supply and the ecosystem of the Great Lakes. The hydrologic cycle includes evaporation, condensation, precipitation, groundwater, transpiration and runoff, all of which keep the Great Lakes functioning year after year. The University Corporation of Atmospheric Research developed an image to simply explain the hydrologic cycle as well as graphs explaining how each of the elements of the hydrologic cycle affects The Great Lakes on a monthly basis (located below). The hydrologic cycle keeps the Great Lakes up and running. Without it, Michigan would not have the inhabitants it does today. The abundant supply of water allows a vast array of wildlife to live in Michigan, and made it a desirable place for early settlers to inhabit. However, the Great Lakes did not just appear out of thin air. There is a long history of how the Great Lakes came to be. The long history of the formation of the Great Lakes and Michigan start with the impact of glaciers. Throughout history, there have been four major periods where glaciers moved across Michigan, shaping and forming the land. Every time a glacier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Twelve million children in this country do not have health insurance, and over 4.5% of all children are victims of suspected child abuse or neglect (Doktor and Poertner). Believe it or not, these are all indicators of the demand for Family Resource Centers within our school systems. Many question whether Family Resource Centers are worth the money the state pours into them. However, in serving students, parents and teachers, there should be no question of their significance. The mission statement of the resource centers may vary according to the area, but most followed the same concept. Growing up in a school system with Family Resource Centers, I must agree that they live up to their mission statement. They try to remove education barriers by offering tutoring, physical barriers by offering special education or medical assistance, and social barriers by providing students with anything to help them not stand out in the crowd. Family Resource Centers have a unique structure. Referring back to the Orientation Guide for Newly Employed FR/YSC Coordinators published by MSU's College of Education, Like any program, they have a director that is the supervisor over everything in the program for example keeping track of the funding and programs offered and the staff. • 28. Importance Of Perseverance Perseverance leads to success through ambition and endurance. Two great examples of people who persevered in life are Ruth and Joni Eareckson Tada. Ruth, a godly woman, faced many difficulties, but achieved her goal and God's favor with the help of perseverance. Joni Eareckson Tada used perseverance to overcome the many obstacles she faced after suffering a tragic accident that left her paralyzed. Both these women could have given up and walked away from the situations they faced, but they decided to persevere, leading to triumph. Everybody faces obstacles in life, whether they be small or big. How people react to the obstacles placed in their lives is what builds people's character. This is where perseverance plays a key role with the help of endurance and ambition. Perseverance is the ability to overcome obstacles even when you feel failure is inevitable. It is running an extra mile when exhausted or staying up late in order to finish a paper. Perseverance is the ability to overcome emotional, physical, and even financial failure. It is never giving up even though "the going gets tough." Joni Eareckson Tada was an ordinary girl, enjoying life, until one day her life was completely changed. Joni suffered a tragic acident.
