pptx Math 3rd qtr week 1.pptx
1. WEEK 1
LESSON 48: Identifying Parallel, Intersecting, and
Perpendicular Lines
K to 12 Grade 4 CG, LM Math Gr.4 pp. 155-156
2. Drill
Have a drill on identifying points, lines segments, rays
and lines using flash cards with geometric figures.
Review: Game- “What Am I?
1. I have an exact location in space. I am
represented by a dot.
2. I have no endpoint and I can go on and on in
opposite directions.
3. I start out at a point and can be extended in
one direction.
4. I am a part of a line with 2 endpoints.
3. Motivation
How should you form your lines during
flag ceremony?
Presentation
Have a game on “Forming Lines”. Let them form different
Kinds of lines depending on the instruction given.
a. All those whose birth month is June will form 2 straight
lines.
b. All those who are wearing T-shirts will form 2 lines
that meet at the center.
c. All those whose birth month is March will form one line
and another line for those who were born in August.
then form 2 lines that show square corners.
5. Performing the Activities
Group the pupils into six teams. Each group work
together in illustrating the given figures to show the
different kinds of lines using cut-outs.
Group 1: crossroads
Group 2: time using hands of the clock
Group 3: designs of a ceiling
Group 4: design of a T-shirt ( example chekered,
striped)
Group 5: electric posts
Group 6: window panes
(after all groups have finished, ask them to display
their outputs on the board , let them tell something
about the figures that they formed and what kind of
lines each figure shows)
6. Processing the Activities
How did you find the
activity?
How were you able to
illustrate the figure given to
you?
Did you cooperate with your
group mates?
7. Different Kinds of Lines
Parallel lines
perpendicular lines
Intersecting lines
8. Reinforcing the Concept
and Skill
How many lines does each diagram below have? Two
lines can be related to each other in different ways.

Line FG and line HI do not intersect .
They do not meet at any point.
They are parallel lines.

M
Line KL and line JM intersect in a special
way forming square corners.
They are perpendicular lines.
12. Tell whether the following are parallel lines,
intersecting lines or perpendicular lines.
1. 2.
3.
4. 5.
13. Get Moving!
Draw a star for parallel lines, a diamond for intersecting
Lines, and a square for perpendicular lines.
1. 2. 3.
4. 5.
14. Summarizing the Lesson
Parallel lines are lines that do not meet.
Intersecting lines are lines that cross each
other.
Perpendicular lines are lines that intersect
and form square corners.
15. Applying to New and Other Situations
Tell the kind of lines referred to in each
item.
1. Capital letter H
2. Capital letter X
3. Checkered T-shirt
4. Hands of a clock at 3:30
5. Corner of a blackboard
B. Do the items under Apply Your Skills
on page 156 of LM Math Grade 4.
16. Assessment
Write the letter of the correct answer.
Which pair of lines are parallel lines?
1. a. b. c. d.
2. Which of the following shows parallel lines?
a. b. c. d.
17. 3. Which figure illustrates perpendicular
lines?
a. B. C. D.
4. Which situation tells about parallel lines?
a. Two intersecting lines meet at one point
b. Perpendicular lines form square corners
c. Parallel lines do not meet
d. Intersecting lines do not cross each other
5. Which is not true statement?
a. Two intersecting lines meet at one point
b. Perpendicular lines form square corners
c. Parallel lines do not meet
d. Intersecting lines do not cross each other.
18. Home Activity
Draw a circle for parallel lines, triangle for
intersecting lines, and rectangle for perpendicular
lines
1. 2. 3.
4. 5.
19. Enrichment
Draw each pair of lines using a ruler
and a set square.
1. Line AB is parallel to line CD.
2. Line EF intersects line GH.
3. Line IJ is perpendicular to line KL.
4. Line MN is parallel to line OP.
5. Line QR is perpendicular to line
ST.
