This document provides an overview of resources for teaching graphing to middle school students. It discusses the importance of graphing and using technology and visuals to help students understand the concept. Various websites, blogs, videos, apps and interactive activities are presented that teachers can use to incorporate graphing in their classroom, including real-world examples to demonstrate key concepts. Both teachers and students can access these online resources to support learning about graphing.
2. • Graphing is a very important concept
when it comes to middle and high
school mathematics. Students need to
fully understand the basics of this, in
order to move on to other material.
Graphing is also in many higher level
math classes, so it is critical for students
to understand this concept completely.
• It makes sense to incorporate
technology into this topic, because
visuals are the key to understanding
graphing
• There are many sites that can help
teach graphing in a different way, and
help students graph points on a
computer which can provide a different
perspective to the assignment than
doing it on paper themselves.
Technology Integration
3. • All of the information that is in this presentation
are from reliable sites. The information comes
from websites related to teaching and
mathematics education.
• The links included in this presentation will be able
clickable and lead to the original websites

4. • This blog has real life examples that can be applied to
graphing to help teachers explain how to graph using
situations that students can relate to.
• Students can use this blog to watch videos that explain
how to graph using real
life situations that makes
it easier and go step by
step with examples to
help them apply this to
their own work
Blog Post
5. • Pinterest is another blog that is helpful with lots
of geometry related materials
• Teachers can use this for worksheets and tools to
help in the classroom
• Students can use this to get ideas about projects,
as well as a resource to help them understand
topics that were learned in class
Pinterest
6. • This is a short podcast that explains the
coordinate plane and how to graph points
• It is the beginner's guide to graphing on a
coordinate plane
• Teachers can play this in the class and have the
students follow along to see if they understand
• Part 1 Part 2
Podcast
7. • This is an instructional video from Kahn Academy
that can help students learn the basics on how to
graph points on a coordinate plane
• Teachers can use this video to incorporate into the
lesson to help students learn the basics
Kahn Academy
8. • This video is full of lots of information that are
useful to students to learn the basics of graphing
• Teachers can use this video to learn what are the
basic points of graphing to help get the students
to focus on the understanding of these concepts
and vocab

9. • Teacher Vision
This site has charts and printables of graph
paper and different types of activities for students
to do during class
• Middle Web
This site is geared to middle school students
and the common core. It has graph ideas that
incorporate real life examples to help students
• Teach-nology
This site has worksheets that can be used as an
extra resource for students to graph.
Internet Resources
10. • Inspiration is a website that has resources for
teachers to use online
• InspireData is a tool for teachers to track and
analyze data from their area
• Teachers can have students practice graphing
using this local info
• Students see this data on a graph to help them
practice graphing
and get an
understanding of
the data.
Kidspiration
11. Teaching Materials
• This is a fun worksheet
where students can pair
up and play Battleship
• Students draw their ships,
and their opponent has to
guess where the ships are
using the right
coordinates
• The helps practice the
coordinate system, and to
remember that horizontal
axis is before the vertical
axis
12. Teaching Materials
• This is a fun worksheet
where the students plot
the points at the bottom
of the worksheet and
connect the lines to make
a picture on the graph
• This is a fun exercise that
also insures that students
have a strong foundation
on how to plot points
before moving on to more
complicated tasks.
13. Teaching Material
• This is a fun worksheet
to use for practicing
drawing lines on a
graph.
• Students have to plot
the line and then match
it with the letter to find
the answer to the
question
14. • This is an app that allows you to graph and
interact with math formulas
• You can manipulate graphs and compare and
contrast multiple graphs on one plane
• Click the picture
for more info

Math Graphing XL
15. • Use this website to create different kinds of
graphs
• There are 5 different types of graphs to create
• This will help students visually see their graphs to
help them understand it better
• Putting it on the computer allows students to put
their information on a new form of media and
puts it in a new perspective
• Click here to create a graph!

16. • Math IXL is an internet based website where students
can go through examples of graphing problems
• Students can pick the grade level for the problems
they want to try and get stickers for doing well on the
problems
• Teachers can long into this website and check on the
status of their students
• This site is beneficial for teachers and students,
because the student can pick the grade level,
depending on whether they want to be challenged or
need more practice

How would this diagram/GO be used in an actual lesson? This could be used in a lesson if the teacher went onto InspireData and got local data for the area. The teacher could then have the students graph the information.
How does this visual enhance student understanding of the topic? Visuals enhance the student understanding because by seeing the data in a visual, students could do some critical thinking and make some conclusions about the data, since it is easier to read in a graph.
