2. I am a third year student in
Singapore Polytechnic Design
School, currently persueing the
diploma in Experience and
Product Design.
I enjoy working on different
concepts and improving on the
existing products as I believe that
every design will have a room for
improvement.
Exploring and understanding
materials and their uses has
always been an interest of mine
and the final outcome is what I
work towards.
I can adapt quickly in new
environments and I am able to
work under pressure and in team
or individually.

Kosa Bench
Kor Jia Yin / Teng Jia Min
A handmade 2 seater bench made using
3 ply wood and wood joints. The joints
were choosen carefully after researching
and experimenting with it’s strength, uses
and durability.
Need to Re-render
4. 4
After studying the different types of
wooden joints, we decided to use
dovetail joints for the support. Because
of how the ‘tails’ and ‘pins’ are shaped,
it makes it difficult to pull the joint apart
even without any adhersives.
Exploded view were done to allow us to
better understand how we can assemble
our bench in a more efficient way.

The concept of this project is to make
use of wood and its properties to design
a home accessory.
Contour Clock
Kor Jia Yin / Pranpol Viriyacharoen
7. 7
Raw wood pieces are our inspiration.
Every pieces of wood has different layers
of contours and shades of brown. When
it is shaved diagonally, the lines of the
contours are exposed beautifully.
We started exploring the ways of
exposing hidden lines and we came to
a solution of stacking many layers of
papers with different colours.
When it is shaved randomly, every layers
of materials and colours are exposed in
an organic form.
After studying the different type of colours
its uses, we choose blue to glow in the
dark because blue is associate with
calmness, lowers heart rate, and it helps
to sleep better.
Using the method of layering different
type of wood and resin, we came out with
the concept of a glow in the dark clock
that can help the user to tell time as well
as to sleep better.

Unofficial
Taxi Queue
The idea behind this project is to
improve the experience of queueing
at a physical queue.
Unofficial queues can be seen at
town areas, especially at night.
These queues are formed by people
who wants to get a cab conveniently
and efficiently.
9. 9
People are seen forming their own
queues for cabs in front of international
buildings on Orchard Road at midnight.
Some cabbies say that it is convenient to
pick passengers up in front of the mall,
even though some of these spots are
no-stopping zones.
Site Observations

10. 10
Insights based on observations
Sometimes there is no clear indication of
who is first in the queue.
People are able to smoke in unofficial
taxi queues.
Unofficial queues are more efficient.
Insights based on Interviews
People queue at unofficial queues
because of efficiency and conviniency.
Most of the people who smokes tend to
dispose their cigarette buds on the floor.
Queueing system is not fair.
Majority of the people support
unofficial taxi queues because
it is more efficient

Concept
Street Lamp
Light pole is one of the best object to be
places on the street at night. By adapting
the concept of shining lights to help
people see where they are going, the
street light is going to shine a shadow
on the floor to guide the people where to
stand and queue for taxi.
Ash Tray Barrier
By adapting the concept of a barrier, to
warn people not to cross over the line, I
am going to improve the design by
transforming the normal barrier to a ash
tray barrier.

Silver Generation
Glenda / Jeslene / JiaYin / Kerry / Michelle / Sherman / Wuhao
Supported by Toshiba Tokyo
This is a 6 months long research
project supported by Toshiba Tokyo,
whereby 7 students from various
design diplomas in Singapore
Polytechnic come together to study
about Silver Generation.
13. 13
Newspaper Articles
We went through 3 years of newspaper
articles and gathered almost 800
articles related to Silver Generation.
After consolidating these articles,we
grouped them into various categories
namely Dementia, Parkinson,
Caregiver, Healthcare, Social,
Spaces, and Mobility.
Helps available for Seniors in
Singapore
We then proceed on to finding out which
agencies in Singapore are targeting the
Silver Generation and list down what
they have in the form of an infoposter.

Understanding
Silver Generation
Ageing Suit
We went for a one day workshop at
Singapore Polytechnic Inno4 to
experience the ageing suit so that we
can step into the shoes of an elderly and
understand what they are experiencing.

Understanding
Silver Generation
Primary Research
After watching documentaries relating
to Silver Generations and analysing
deeper into each and every articles, we
came to a conclusion of focusing on the
Baby Boomers, who will be part of
the Silver Generation in 15 years time.
TOUCH SAC
We get in touch with TOUCH Seniors
Activity Centre (SAC) to interview and
observe how the baby boomers stay
active and to understand them better.
Video Editing
We went out to observe the baby
boomers, as well as taking video clips
of their daily lifestyle. At the end of this
whole project, we produced a video
compiling of our process and research
for these 6 months.

TOSHIBA Workshop
Design Thinking
We had a one week workshop conducted
by TOSHIBA TOKYO to learn more about
Design Thinking
What have I learnt?
Through these 6 months project, I have
learnt and experience how is it like to be
working on a real-life project.
I had learnt the various ways of doing an
indept research so that it can support my
design concepts.
Also, it is truely a great experience for
me to be able to work with colleagues
from various diplomas such as Visual
Communications, Game Development
and Interior Design. I had learnt and pick
up quite a number of skills from them,
such as videography and graphic design.

Fitness
at Work
Fitness at work is my final year
project which I am still working on it.
The idea of this project is to
encourage people to have a healthy
working lifestyle.
17. 17
Process
Research
I started this project by reading articles
regarding on healthy working habits and
the effects of working for long hours.
Case Study
I went to Disney S.E company to observe
as well as to interview them so that i can
better understand their working style.
Validation
After coming up with a few design
concepts and services, I went down to
the company again to do some testings
and speak to a few of the staffs to get
some feedbacks.

The Carry
of Support
The carry of support is my final year
project which I am still working on it.
The idea of this project is to
design a carrier which carries the
intangible - Support.
19. 19
Process
Research
I started this project by looking through
some of the existing carriers and then
extracting their intangibles.
Market Research
I went to look at the different types of
trolley bags and speak to people of
different ages regarding on their view on
trolley bags.
Prototype
After understanding how people do not
like to use trolley bag because of the
“uncool” look and bulkiness, I come up
with the concept of a collapsible trolley
bag with minimalist design.
