Job Shadow
For my job shadow experience, I went to my father's work, The Port of Portland, to overview him on an average day working as an IT Specialist.
Throughout the day, I saw several different cases of the six Career–Related Learning Standards, such as personal management, problem solving, and
communication. My dad showed me several different skills during his time working, in which Personal Management was key to achieving success in
the job. Tasks were identified by supervisors via his email, or speaking in person, which he had to work to solve in a timely matter. Planned projects
were also big parts of operating, as my dad had a certain time period to finish programming and such. Regular check–ups on systems were also needed
to maintain systems,...show more content...
One example is when a power outage occurred, it was my dad's job to bring the systems back online, where he had to track down the issues and
failed systems, repairing parts and such. Errors in code would be another example, as he had to search through them to find the error.
Communication is a must, as you need to locate data branching across several different networks. I communicated with my dad by asking him if I
could spend a day at work with him, and got permission. You have to communicate with your peers using email, and social skills in order to keep
the area successfully running. Teamwork was also a vital area, as there were several different people working in the same office that all worked to
achieve the goal of solving computer issues and malfunctioning inside the zone. Shared data is also needed to minimize data, which is gotten from
your peers. Employment Foundations are important, as you need a Bachelor's degree to obtain this job. Further education is also looked positive on.
Applying computing skills is also necessary, and hands on training is one of the best methods to get more experience for the job. I learned that you
should dress business casual for this job, which I did, dressing appropriately for the

STCHS students take on 'The Real World'
Being backstage for a Broadway production, observing a morgue, riding with a police officer in a police car, and doing medical research with the
FDA might seem unrelated, but they actually have something in common; these have all been experiences of STCHS students during various job
shadows.
South Tama has offered job shadowing to students since 2014. Recently, it has been more encouraged for students to take the opportunity once each
semester.
A job shadows allow students to learn about a particular occupation or career to see if it might be a suitable pathway for them. Job shadows are a
one–time a semester, up to four hour work–based learning experience.
Students must be a sophomore and at least...show more content...
He asks about what the student wants to do and talks with the college to set up job shadows.
The Iowa Valley Intermediary Program at MCC run by Terri Hungerford and Connie Gardalen help coordinate the job shadows. Hungerford is the
intermediary network coordinator and Gardalen is the coordinator of high school relations/student success specialist.
"Our students benefit from the excellent relationship between STC and MCC, whether it's through taking different college classes, job shadows,
career fairs, and college fairs. I strongly believe that both Terri Hungerford and Connie Gardalen go above and beyond for our students," said Lopez.
Together, they all work to try and find a place for the student to job shadow. They have to make sure it works with the student's schedule and the place
of business' schedule.
"A student can choose almost any career and we can provide them with an experience," said Hungerford. "However, there are some careers and
businesses that do not allow student job shadows for privacy reasons. For those careers and businesses, we try to offer students with different
alternatives, like a one–to–one meeting or a career that is

Job Shadowing In Radiography
I had the opportunity to job shadow on two different occasions at St. Vincent Kokomo Hospital. On one occasion I observed for ten hours and on
the other I observed for eight hours. During these eighteen hours of job shadowing I not only learned about the job of a radiographer in more
depth, but I also fell more in love with my career choice. I was able to observe many different radiographers as well as a few radiography students.
This provided me with the opportunity to become familiar with typical radiographic equipment and terminology, to become more aware of the roles
and job functions of radiologists, to observe a variety of patient examinations and procedures, and to discuss the goals and challenges of a radiography
program from the perspective of a student....show more content...
Many of the radiographers and students I observed explained how and why they set up the equipment in a certain manner, which allowed them the
best chance of taking high quality images with the least amount of radiation exposure as possible to a patient. In many cases it was explained why
images at different angles of a body part was necessary. Not only does taking quality images the first time make the procedure timelier, but it
decreases the radiation exposure to the patient. Overall I believe I became more familiar with radiological terminology in addition to the radiological
equipment and the functions of the equipment. During my observation it was made clear that patient care is the top priority of radiographers. Taking
readable and excellent images is important, but the safety and care of the patient comes first. Radiographers were always considerate, helpful, and
friendly to their patients. After patient care, the next priority is providing the radiologist or other doctors with excellent and most importantly readable
images. I was able to observe many procedures,

Job Shadowing: Case Study
I had the opportunity to job shadow at St. Mary's on April 3rd, 2017. Several different technologists made my experience very pleasant. They
would explain the procedures, what they were looking for and asked if I had any questions. It was very helpful because it made me feel comfortable.
What I really liked and found interesting was fluoroscopy and portables. How the barium moved through the patient when put in different positions
was fascinating. Portables were cool to witness as well due to the change in technology. One was instant where the other required processing. On the
other hand, CT was what I disliked most about the shadow. The procedures were really fast paced. Patients were in and out. It was very difficult to get
an idea of what they truly do....show more content...
When the MRI was going on, the technologist saw metal in his hip area. He stopped the procedure right away to talk to the patient. I was not able
to see the end results but I didn't know that MRI's were so dangerous. It was surprisingly interesting and concerning. Made me wonder what other
dangers are in the field to me and patients. I personally do not think I need another job shadow to see if this career job fits me, I think it does. I had
the chance to hear about radiology growing up and experiencing different challenges the field of work can bring to home life. A technologist said
when being interviewed, " Every day is different, you can't expect the same thing all day, every day." I would be excited to work in this field that offers

Job Shadow Research Paper
This job shadow was one of my most challenging, yet most enjoyable assignments this semester. There were parts that surprised me, and parts that
inspired me, but overall this was one of my favorite assignments ever. This assignment was difficult for me since I am usually a very introverted
person, and this task pushed me to come out of my shell a little more than I normally feel comfortable with. I was compelled to take initiative in
conversations in order to obtain the information I needed which was very difficult for me. At the same time, it was also very entertaining for me as I
could examine how an architect thinks through, and designs buildings and other structures right in front of my eyes. Going into this assignment, I
expected it was...show more content...
Despite the demands, I believe that the positives outweigh the negatives and I still want to pursue this field. Mr. Barber said that thinking on the fly is
one of the most difficult parts of his job that he struggles with in his day–to–day work. He also said that people skills are a very important part of this
job. You need to know how to communicate efficiently and effectively, or entire projects can fall apart, which adds an immense amount of stress to the
job. One last point that is challenging about becoming an architect is all the training. Most architects need 5 years of college, and must undergo a
tremendous amount of after college training that is very rigorous and challenging. At first the thought of all this training scared me a little bit, but then I
remembered the picture of the kids in Africa at the hospital, and that gave me the desire to continue in this dream of mine. I know that pursuing
this field will be challenging, but I believe it will be worth it in the end. If I sincerely wish to pursue this field I need to come up with a plan of
action. First, I would like to do some research over the summer, and hopefully find a summer course on architecture. Mr. Barber also recommended to
do more shadowing. In fact, he sent me the contact info for a few firms here in town. I believe that this would give me a solid background in

Upsher–Smith is a Pharmaceutical company that has many departments. An IT department, a laboratory department, a business department, and a
warehouse department. Upsher–Smith is located in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Their company specializes in making products for the central nervous
system. They currently have medications out for Parkinson's disease , Alzheimer's, and Epilepsy. I was graced with the opportunity of being able to
complete my job shadow at this company. My shadower, Mr. Jeremy Minner, works in the IT department as the Help Desk Supervisor. He deals with
supervising his team of workers, organizing the information of his team, planning projects for different people in his team to complete, answering
phones, customer service,...show more content...
Minner introduced me to one last person. The person we were talking to worked in the IT field that I am interested in, Coding and HTML5. We
talked for quite a long time. He showed me what types of programs he makes for the company and how they make their computer systems work more
efficiently. This gentleman was very informative and helpful in explaining what someone in his field does. When we were finished talking to the last
person, I packed up my things, we returned my visitors badge, and we left the building. My favorite part about the whole job shadow, was the
environment of the work place. Everything was calm and quiet. It gave me a sense of overall peace while I was there. I really enjoy a quiet work space,
so I feel like IT might be something that I might consider more as a career. My least favorite thing about my job shadow was that I had to leave early. I
really wanted to stay all day, but I had to come back to school in order to attend my classes for the day. Overall I found my job shadow to be quite
enjoyable. I had a great time meeting all types of workers at Upsher–Smith. Every person that I was introduced to, was very informative and
welcoming to my questions. I am happy that I was given the opportunity to do my job shadow at this company. I would definitely recommend this job

Essay On Job Shadow
For my job shadow, I observed Mrs. Pearl Sikorski, a scheduler who has been at her company for over twenty years. While spending time with her, I
had the opportunity to meet some of her coworkers as well. They all work in a one roomed office and their tasks range from scanning to sending
people out. I originally chose to shadow here because of the role it has played in my life. From the time of the toddler days up until later on this year,
when my last family members leave the company. There are many things I learned there which include: What the work environment was like, what
benefits it offers, and I will tell you what the experience was like. The business itself was smaller than I expected, with changes taking place at every
corner. This was once a...show more content...
Sikorski stated that her health insurance was by far the most important benefit to her because of her insurance covers herself and her family. When I
asked what benefits to look for she told me " Make sure to find a job with health, dental, and vision benefits at the least, you don't want to end up
with nothing while you give them everything but the shirt off your back." It gave me a real idea of what to look for in a job; to not let anybody push
me around. The workday for these men and women, begins at roughly eight–thirty in the morning and ends at about six at night. They receive
thirty–minute lunch breaks and if they smoke, than smoke breaks as well. They are taken at the risk of the workers, they decide when their break
happens. The first thing we did was take a tour of the building, all of those winds and turns were a little confusing but eventually it was like second
nature. We made sure the installers had the appropriate work, did the respective paperwork for the men and customers, made phone calls and made
sure the permits and electricians were

My Job Shadow Experience
My job shadow experience was quite interesting. I choose to do something that I don't really know about. I chose a physiatrist named Dean Smith
because I know him already because I have ADHD and he works with kids with ADHD and I have gone to him before to get medications filled. I
went to catalpa health in appleton. Because I did it this past friday and I didnt have school so I went for 5 hours. This helped because some people
would ask me to leave the room. However I got to watch him work with 14 kids. I was able to ask him questions in between patients because he is not
the one that calls you into his office because they have to weight the patients and ask them some questions before they meet with him. The daily life for
him is talking...show more content...
For a job I wasn't super into before I now kind of like it. I contacted him a week in advance and he said it would be just fine. When I went it I asked
them about the appointment/job shadow and they knew exactly who I was seeing. I went in and starting talking to him about some questions I had
before the shadow, mainly questions about what I should do if they request I leave the room and where I should go. I just had to either leave the
room or I got to go with another physiatrist for the time being to ask some questions. This was really nice because every phyciatrist that I went with
other than dean specialized in something different and answered the questions differently than Dean. When I was with him I got to listen to questions
he asked to people with different mental issues. I only know the questions he asks someone with ADHD. It was quite fascinating how well he
adapted to each situation. Each person he was with he would interact with them differently based on there mental illness. For someone with downs
syndrome he would ask them super happy questions such as where are you going this summer and stuff like that. He even had a candy jar for them.
For someone with depression he would turn on serious mode and acted like a whole new man. I even got to interact with some of the kids. When he
started asking the parents questions I was able to play with the kids and ask them questions to further understand their situation. I would do an every

GRADE: 10.2
Job shadowing is a great learning experience for people that are mostly in the grade 10 phase because it helps you make your mind up about which
career field you want to go into when you are older.
I was privileged enough to find a Clinical Psychologist which is the position I maintained in the company at Tembisa Hospital and the position I
maintained entail a person to have people and communication skills.
I have tried to acquire people and communication skills within the 3 days that I was there I also volunteered to helped out anywhere help was
needed, some of the skills I need to work on are my interaction skills because I found it hard to adapt so quickly to people I'm not used to in only 3
days and it...show more content...
I had to understand that I wasn't allowed in sessions even though it didn't sit well with me because I wanted to know what actually goes down but
other peoples information is private and I have to respect that.
Well I felt that I could have learnt more than I already have at the workplace and I feel that it is still an option but I don't think that's the field for me
because I am more of a person that wants to move around rather than sitting on a chair the whole day waiting for patients to come.
The opportunity did sort of help me in terms of realising that I need to be open to other broad careers and not cling onto one thing that isn't for me and
this is due to the fact that being a Clinical Psychologist doesn't interest me as much as I thought it would.
I learnt that Clinical Psychologist isn't an easy job, it requires a lot of things like patience which is something I don't have, I learnt that to make it in
life you have to work hard and no matter how angry you are you must pull yourself together and carry on with your day.
It was a great experience and I'd like to say that I'm very thankful to Sagewood and my mentor.

On April 1st, I spent the day job shadowing Mrs. Carmen Carroll at CEVA Logistics. I was the only student working with her that day, but it gave
me a much more personal experience. CEVA is a company that contracts logistics and freight management solutions provider worldwide. I spent
the day closely following Mrs. Carmen Carroll while she worked in her role in the company. On a typical day, she wakes up early and arrives at
the building around 8 o'clock am, and is allowed to leave anywhere from 4 o'clock to 6 o'clock in the evening, depending on her workload. Tasks
she usually completes are copious amounts of spreadsheets, paperwork, and overseeing those below her in the company. Originally, she stated off
working in a cubical, but gradually moved up in the company to be the person overlooking them. Her current title at CEVA Logistics is Department
Supervisor. If she needs help, she usually contacts those higher in the chain than her, as she is the only worker at her level. The environment her job
is placed in is a very stereotypical office setting with cubicles, offices, and a break room. Most of my time...show more content...
My focus was to be able to experience a field that I had previously never thought about entering and to hopefully gain new appreciation for it.
During the course of the day, I noticed that there was a lot more thought that had to be put into everything she did that I did not realize was a factor.
Every situation is similar to those previous to it, but each must be tailored to specific requirements. One of the most interesting parts of the job was
that it is a very serious company, but the environment is more along the lines of a relaxed office setting. The only thing I did not enjoy is the
extensive amount of paperwork. If I were to change my major or take up a job similar to this in my free time, I would enjoy working her because of
the environment presented to me during my

My Job Shadowing Career
You may be asking yourself what is a day like in grade school teachers life. I was curious of the same thing, which is why I chose to job shadow a
Junior High School teacher/coach. I did my job shadowing experience with Chris Page, at Diboll Junior High. He works there as a seventh grade
science teacher and a boys junior high athletics coach. This combination is very common in small school districts across Texas, that is, having a
teacher double as an athletic advisor in their school system. I had the opportunity to experience this first hand recently and have had the chance to
decide if this is what career I'd like to pursue. To summarize this profession I have done extensive research online and in libraries before and
following my job shadowing. The average school teacher in the state of Texas makes about $57,000, he said that that was pretty close to what he
actually made. As we all know teachers get a lot of vacation time compared to most professions, getting typically a week or two at Thanksgiving,
Christmas, and spring break. Also teachers have an extended break in the summer months anywhere from the end of May through to the beginning of
September, just depending on the area they live and work. On a different note, teachers have multiple responsibilities in their schools aside...show more

My main mentor was the 7th grade science teacher, in that class the students worked in partners to complete a review for an upcoming test. But at the
beginning of each class one of the school councilors came in to help the students create their schedule for the next school year. I think that was a good
experience to have, it showed first hand as a teacher you have to be able to adapt to changing situations. Whenever Mr. Page, my mentor, got to school
this was thrown on him, he had to modify what he had scheduled to meet the administration's

College Essay On Job Shadow
For years I have always wanted to work with children after college. My intentions are to become a social worker with a miner in literature teaching.
Due to these interest I choose to job shadow an ELA teacher of fifth and fourth graders. Her name was Ms. Alexandra Harkins and she taught at
Summit Academy North Elementary. She was very open to me overseeing her classroom. I was able to be the onlystudent that was there. It was a great
experience being able to have time alone to ask any questions I had. This helped me really get to know how her day went, plus her outlook on
everything. This was very informative during the whole day. I was able to learn a great amount about dealing with children. I am very grateful for
being able to job shadow Ms. Harkins.
When some one is dealing with many children, things can get pretty chaotic. Ms. Harkin's day started with handing out breakfast to the children and
touching base with them. This was very eye opening for me because she showed how much she really does care for each child. That is something
extremely important when an adult is working with children. She was able to build trust with each child. It was very clear that Ms. Harkins was more
like a mother to some of those children. It was clear that to be in an environment with children one has to be...show more content...
Harkins went to Central Michigan University to get her degree. This was a delightful surprise to me because of the fact that I am going there for
college as well. Becoming an educator is not easy. There is a lot of schooling involved. She also had to become certified to teach in Michigan. That is
not all though, to be a teacher many have to be a student teacher first. This is basically like an internship for teaching. She put in a lot of work to help
the children. Not only is education needed, but personal skills are very important. Being a teacher means being a leader, a mother, a therapist and a
friend. This was easy to see in Ms. Harkins while I was job

November 1, 2017, I job shadowed my mother Genie. Genie is the manager and co–owner with my father of The New Jester's Lounge and they have
been running the business for over thirty years. Jester's is a bar/restaurant with a friendly atmosphere that stands as its own building. They have
tasty food, pool tables, a dart machine, a dance floor, state lottery, and an ATM machine. Throughout the day, Genie had a day full of multiple tasks
back to back. Monday through Thursday Genie works from 12pm to 10pm and on Friday and Saturday she works from 5:30pm to 4am. During the
day there were a lot of things that needed to be done while she still had to keep an eye on her staff, she balanced out the register from days sales,

I also enjoyed that I got to learn new things throughout the day, such as how to count a till, manage and fill an ATM machine, and how to do
payroll. It's all knowledge that's important into managing a business and it's something that's useful to know for your regular knowledge. While I
was there I also had the chance to learn how to organize, handle, and manage money better. Not only is this useful for work but it's useful for
handling my own money in general. Even though there was a lot that was needed to be taken care of during the day, I learned still learned multiple
new things and I would go back to learn more. There wasn't really anything that I didn't enjoy during the day, everyone was welcoming, kind, and I
learned a lot while I was there. Yet one thing I enjoyed the least was the stress behind everything because there is so much that needs to be done and
needs to be done right. I noticed while I was there that the money needs to be handled carefully and counted correctly because it's easy to make
mistakes, and if the money comes out short then it's money that comes out of the owners own pocket. Another thing I didn't exactly love was how
much there was needed to learn. Personally, I don't mind taking the time to learn everything and seeing what it's really like to be informed on
everything, It's that I only had so much time

Job Shadow

  • 1. Job Shadow For my job shadow experience, I went to my father's work, The Port of Portland, to overview him on an average day working as an IT Specialist. Throughout the day, I saw several different cases of the six Career–Related Learning Standards, such as personal management, problem solving, and communication. My dad showed me several different skills during his time working, in which Personal Management was key to achieving success in the job. Tasks were identified by supervisors via his email, or speaking in person, which he had to work to solve in a timely matter. Planned projects were also big parts of operating, as my dad had a certain time period to finish programming and such. Regular check–ups on systems were also needed to maintain systems,...show more content... One example is when a power outage occurred, it was my dad's job to bring the systems back online, where he had to track down the issues and failed systems, repairing parts and such. Errors in code would be another example, as he had to search through them to find the error. Communication is a must, as you need to locate data branching across several different networks. I communicated with my dad by asking him if I could spend a day at work with him, and got permission. You have to communicate with your peers using email, and social skills in order to keep the area successfully running. Teamwork was also a vital area, as there were several different people working in the same office that all worked to achieve the goal of solving computer issues and malfunctioning inside the zone. Shared data is also needed to minimize data, which is gotten from your peers. Employment Foundations are important, as you need a Bachelor's degree to obtain this job. Further education is also looked positive on. Applying computing skills is also necessary, and hands on training is one of the best methods to get more experience for the job. I learned that you should dress business casual for this job, which I did, dressing appropriately for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Job Shadows STCHS students take on 'The Real World' Being backstage for a Broadway production, observing a morgue, riding with a police officer in a police car, and doing medical research with the FDA might seem unrelated, but they actually have something in common; these have all been experiences of STCHS students during various job shadows. South Tama has offered job shadowing to students since 2014. Recently, it has been more encouraged for students to take the opportunity once each semester. A job shadows allow students to learn about a particular occupation or career to see if it might be a suitable pathway for them. Job shadows are a one–time a semester, up to four hour work–based learning experience. Students must be a sophomore and at least...show more content... He asks about what the student wants to do and talks with the college to set up job shadows. The Iowa Valley Intermediary Program at MCC run by Terri Hungerford and Connie Gardalen help coordinate the job shadows. Hungerford is the intermediary network coordinator and Gardalen is the coordinator of high school relations/student success specialist. "Our students benefit from the excellent relationship between STC and MCC, whether it's through taking different college classes, job shadows, career fairs, and college fairs. I strongly believe that both Terri Hungerford and Connie Gardalen go above and beyond for our students," said Lopez. Together, they all work to try and find a place for the student to job shadow. They have to make sure it works with the student's schedule and the place of business' schedule. "A student can choose almost any career and we can provide them with an experience," said Hungerford. "However, there are some careers and businesses that do not allow student job shadows for privacy reasons. For those careers and businesses, we try to offer students with different alternatives, like a one–to–one meeting or a career that is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Job Shadowing In Radiography I had the opportunity to job shadow on two different occasions at St. Vincent Kokomo Hospital. On one occasion I observed for ten hours and on the other I observed for eight hours. During these eighteen hours of job shadowing I not only learned about the job of a radiographer in more depth, but I also fell more in love with my career choice. I was able to observe many different radiographers as well as a few radiography students. This provided me with the opportunity to become familiar with typical radiographic equipment and terminology, to become more aware of the roles and job functions of radiologists, to observe a variety of patient examinations and procedures, and to discuss the goals and challenges of a radiography program from the perspective of a student....show more content... Many of the radiographers and students I observed explained how and why they set up the equipment in a certain manner, which allowed them the best chance of taking high quality images with the least amount of radiation exposure as possible to a patient. In many cases it was explained why images at different angles of a body part was necessary. Not only does taking quality images the first time make the procedure timelier, but it decreases the radiation exposure to the patient. Overall I believe I became more familiar with radiological terminology in addition to the radiological equipment and the functions of the equipment. During my observation it was made clear that patient care is the top priority of radiographers. Taking readable and excellent images is important, but the safety and care of the patient comes first. Radiographers were always considerate, helpful, and friendly to their patients. After patient care, the next priority is providing the radiologist or other doctors with excellent and most importantly readable images. I was able to observe many procedures, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Job Shadowing: Case Study I had the opportunity to job shadow at St. Mary's on April 3rd, 2017. Several different technologists made my experience very pleasant. They would explain the procedures, what they were looking for and asked if I had any questions. It was very helpful because it made me feel comfortable. What I really liked and found interesting was fluoroscopy and portables. How the barium moved through the patient when put in different positions was fascinating. Portables were cool to witness as well due to the change in technology. One was instant where the other required processing. On the other hand, CT was what I disliked most about the shadow. The procedures were really fast paced. Patients were in and out. It was very difficult to get an idea of what they truly do....show more content... When the MRI was going on, the technologist saw metal in his hip area. He stopped the procedure right away to talk to the patient. I was not able to see the end results but I didn't know that MRI's were so dangerous. It was surprisingly interesting and concerning. Made me wonder what other dangers are in the field to me and patients. I personally do not think I need another job shadow to see if this career job fits me, I think it does. I had the chance to hear about radiology growing up and experiencing different challenges the field of work can bring to home life. A technologist said when being interviewed, " Every day is different, you can't expect the same thing all day, every day." I would be excited to work in this field that offers Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 7. Job Shadow Research Paper This job shadow was one of my most challenging, yet most enjoyable assignments this semester. There were parts that surprised me, and parts that inspired me, but overall this was one of my favorite assignments ever. This assignment was difficult for me since I am usually a very introverted person, and this task pushed me to come out of my shell a little more than I normally feel comfortable with. I was compelled to take initiative in conversations in order to obtain the information I needed which was very difficult for me. At the same time, it was also very entertaining for me as I could examine how an architect thinks through, and designs buildings and other structures right in front of my eyes. Going into this assignment, I expected it was...show more content... Despite the demands, I believe that the positives outweigh the negatives and I still want to pursue this field. Mr. Barber said that thinking on the fly is one of the most difficult parts of his job that he struggles with in his day–to–day work. He also said that people skills are a very important part of this job. You need to know how to communicate efficiently and effectively, or entire projects can fall apart, which adds an immense amount of stress to the job. One last point that is challenging about becoming an architect is all the training. Most architects need 5 years of college, and must undergo a tremendous amount of after college training that is very rigorous and challenging. At first the thought of all this training scared me a little bit, but then I remembered the picture of the kids in Africa at the hospital, and that gave me the desire to continue in this dream of mine. I know that pursuing this field will be challenging, but I believe it will be worth it in the end. If I sincerely wish to pursue this field I need to come up with a plan of action. First, I would like to do some research over the summer, and hopefully find a summer course on architecture. Mr. Barber also recommended to do more shadowing. In fact, he sent me the contact info for a few firms here in town. I believe that this would give me a solid background in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Employee Job Shadow Upsher–Smith is a Pharmaceutical company that has many departments. An IT department, a laboratory department, a business department, and a warehouse department. Upsher–Smith is located in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Their company specializes in making products for the central nervous system. They currently have medications out for Parkinson's disease , Alzheimer's, and Epilepsy. I was graced with the opportunity of being able to complete my job shadow at this company. My shadower, Mr. Jeremy Minner, works in the IT department as the Help Desk Supervisor. He deals with supervising his team of workers, organizing the information of his team, planning projects for different people in his team to complete, answering phones, customer service,...show more content... Minner introduced me to one last person. The person we were talking to worked in the IT field that I am interested in, Coding and HTML5. We talked for quite a long time. He showed me what types of programs he makes for the company and how they make their computer systems work more efficiently. This gentleman was very informative and helpful in explaining what someone in his field does. When we were finished talking to the last person, I packed up my things, we returned my visitors badge, and we left the building. My favorite part about the whole job shadow, was the environment of the work place. Everything was calm and quiet. It gave me a sense of overall peace while I was there. I really enjoy a quiet work space, so I feel like IT might be something that I might consider more as a career. My least favorite thing about my job shadow was that I had to leave early. I really wanted to stay all day, but I had to come back to school in order to attend my classes for the day. Overall I found my job shadow to be quite enjoyable. I had a great time meeting all types of workers at Upsher–Smith. Every person that I was introduced to, was very informative and welcoming to my questions. I am happy that I was given the opportunity to do my job shadow at this company. I would definitely recommend this job shadow to anyone who was interested in this Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay On Job Shadow For my job shadow, I observed Mrs. Pearl Sikorski, a scheduler who has been at her company for over twenty years. While spending time with her, I had the opportunity to meet some of her coworkers as well. They all work in a one roomed office and their tasks range from scanning to sending people out. I originally chose to shadow here because of the role it has played in my life. From the time of the toddler days up until later on this year, when my last family members leave the company. There are many things I learned there which include: What the work environment was like, what benefits it offers, and I will tell you what the experience was like. The business itself was smaller than I expected, with changes taking place at every corner. This was once a...show more content... Sikorski stated that her health insurance was by far the most important benefit to her because of her insurance covers herself and her family. When I asked what benefits to look for she told me " Make sure to find a job with health, dental, and vision benefits at the least, you don't want to end up with nothing while you give them everything but the shirt off your back." It gave me a real idea of what to look for in a job; to not let anybody push me around. The workday for these men and women, begins at roughly eight–thirty in the morning and ends at about six at night. They receive thirty–minute lunch breaks and if they smoke, than smoke breaks as well. They are taken at the risk of the workers, they decide when their break happens. The first thing we did was take a tour of the building, all of those winds and turns were a little confusing but eventually it was like second nature. We made sure the installers had the appropriate work, did the respective paperwork for the men and customers, made phone calls and made sure the permits and electricians were Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. My Job Shadow Experience My job shadow experience was quite interesting. I choose to do something that I don't really know about. I chose a physiatrist named Dean Smith because I know him already because I have ADHD and he works with kids with ADHD and I have gone to him before to get medications filled. I went to catalpa health in appleton. Because I did it this past friday and I didnt have school so I went for 5 hours. This helped because some people would ask me to leave the room. However I got to watch him work with 14 kids. I was able to ask him questions in between patients because he is not the one that calls you into his office because they have to weight the patients and ask them some questions before they meet with him. When I went it I asked them about the appointment/job shadow and they knew exactly who I was seeing. I went in and starting talking to him about some questions I had before the shadow, mainly questions about what I should do if they request I leave the room and where I should go. I just had to either leave the room or I got to go with another physiatrist for the time being to ask some questions. This was really nice because every phyciatrist that I went with other than dean specialized in something different and answered the questions differently than Dean. When I was with him I got to listen to questions he asked to people with different mental issues. I only know the questions he asks someone with ADHD. It was quite fascinating how well he adapted to each situation. Each person he was with he would interact with them differently based on there mental illness. For someone with downs syndrome he would ask them super happy questions such as where are you going this summer and stuff like that. He even had a candy jar for them. For someone with depression he would turn on serious mode and acted like a whole new man. I even got to interact with some of the kids. When he started asking the parents questions I was able to play with the kids and ask them questions to further understand their situation. I would do an every Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Job Shadowing Essay NAME: FEZILE CENENDA GRADE: 10.2 Job shadowing is a great learning experience for people that are mostly in the grade 10 phase because it helps you make your mind up about which career field you want to go into when you are older. I was privileged enough to find a Clinical Psychologist which is the position I maintained in the company at Tembisa Hospital and the position I maintained entail a person to have people and communication skills. I have tried to acquire people and communication skills within the 3 days that I was there I also volunteered to helped out anywhere help was needed, some of the skills I need to work on are my interaction skills because I found it hard to adapt so quickly to people I'm not used to in only 3 days and it...show more content... I had to understand that I wasn't allowed in sessions even though it didn't sit well with me because I wanted to know what actually goes down but other peoples information is private and I have to respect that. Well I felt that I could have learnt more than I already have at the workplace and I feel that it is still an option but I don't think that's the field for me because I am more of a person that wants to move around rather than sitting on a chair the whole day waiting for patients to come. The opportunity did sort of help me in terms of realising that I need to be open to other broad careers and not cling onto one thing that isn't for me and this is due to the fact that being a Clinical Psychologist doesn't interest me as much as I thought it would. I learnt that Clinical Psychologist isn't an easy job, it requires a lot of things like patience which is something I don't have, I learnt that to make it in life you have to work hard and no matter how angry you are you must pull yourself together and carry on with your day. It was a great experience and I'd like to say that I'm very thankful to Sagewood and my mentor.

I was the only student working with her that day, but it gave me a much more personal experience. CEVA is a company that contracts logistics and freight management solutions provider worldwide. I spent the day closely following Mrs. Carmen Carroll while she worked in her role in the company. On a typical day, she wakes up early and arrives at the building around 8 o'clock am, and is allowed to leave anywhere from 4 o'clock to 6 o'clock in the evening, depending on her workload. Tasks she usually completes are copious amounts of spreadsheets, paperwork, and overseeing those below her in the company. Originally, she stated off working in a cubical, but gradually moved up in the company to be the person overlooking them. Her current title at CEVA Logistics is Department Supervisor. If she needs help, she usually contacts those higher in the chain than her, as she is the only worker at her level. The environment her job is placed in is a very stereotypical office setting with cubicles, offices, and a break room. One of the most interesting parts of the job was that it is a very serious company, but the environment is more along the lines of a relaxed office setting. The only thing I did not enjoy is the extensive amount of paperwork. If I were to change my major or take up a job similar to this in my free time, I would enjoy working her because of the environment presented to me during my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. My Job Shadowing Career You may be asking yourself what is a day like in grade school teachers life. I was curious of the same thing, which is why I chose to job shadow a Junior High School teacher/coach. I did my job shadowing experience with Chris Page, at Diboll Junior High. He works there as a seventh grade science teacher and a boys junior high athletics coach. This combination is very common in small school districts across Texas, that is, having a teacher double as an athletic advisor in their school system. I had the opportunity to experience this first hand recently and have had the chance to decide if this is what career I'd like to pursue. To summarize this profession I have done extensive research online and in libraries before and following my job shadowing. The average school teacher in the state of Texas makes about $57,000, he said that that was pretty close to what he actually made. As we all know teachers get a lot of vacation time compared to most professions, getting typically a week or two at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring break. Also teachers have an extended break in the summer months anywhere from the end of May through to the beginning of September, just depending on the area they live and work. On a different note, teachers have multiple responsibilities in their schools aside...show more content... My main mentor was the 7th grade science teacher, in that class the students worked in partners to complete a review for an upcoming test. But at the beginning of each class one of the school councilors came in to help the students create their schedule for the next school year. I think that was a good experience to have, it showed first hand as a teacher you have to be able to adapt to changing situations. Whenever Mr. Page, my mentor, got to school this was thrown on him, he had to modify what he had scheduled to meet the administration's Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. College Essay On Job Shadow For years I have always wanted to work with children after college. My intentions are to become a social worker with a miner in literature teaching. Due to these interest I choose to job shadow an ELA teacher of fifth and fourth graders. Her name was Ms. Alexandra Harkins and she taught at Summit Academy North Elementary. She was very open to me overseeing her classroom. I was able to be the onlystudent that was there. It was a great experience being able to have time alone to ask any questions I had. This helped me really get to know how her day went, plus her outlook on everything. This was very informative during the whole day. I was able to learn a great amount about dealing with children. I am very grateful for being able to job shadow Ms. Harkins. When some one is dealing with many children, things can get pretty chaotic. Ms. Harkin's day started with handing out breakfast to the children and touching base with them. This was very eye opening for me because she showed how much she really does care for each child. That is something extremely important when an adult is working with children. She was able to build trust with each child. There is a lot of schooling involved. She also had to become certified to teach in Michigan. That is not all though, to be a teacher many have to be a student teacher first. This is basically like an internship for teaching. She put in a lot of work to help the children. Not only is education needed, but personal skills are very important. • 16. Job Shadowing Skills Essay November 1, 2017, I job shadowed my mother Genie. Genie is the manager and co–owner with my father of The New Jester's Lounge and they have been running the business for over thirty years. Jester's is a bar/restaurant with a friendly atmosphere that stands as its own building. They have tasty food, pool tables, a dart machine, a dance floor, state lottery, and an ATM machine. Throughout the day, Genie had a day full of multiple tasks back to back. Monday through Thursday Genie works from 12pm to 10pm and on Friday and Saturday she works from 5:30pm to 4am. During the day there were a lot of things that needed to be done while she still had to keep an eye on her staff, she balanced out the register from days sales, balanced out credit...show more content... I also enjoyed that I got to learn new things throughout the day, such as how to count a till, manage and fill an ATM machine, and how to do payroll. It's all knowledge that's important into managing a business and it's something that's useful to know for your regular knowledge. While I was there I also had the chance to learn how to organize, handle, and manage money better. Not only is this useful for work but it's useful for handling my own money in general. Even though there was a lot that was needed to be taken care of during the day, I learned still learned multiple new things and I would go back to learn more. There wasn't really anything that I didn't enjoy during the day, everyone was welcoming, kind, and I learned a lot while I was there. Yet one thing I enjoyed the least was the stress behind everything because there is so much that needs to be done and needs to be done right. I noticed while I was there that the money needs to be handled carefully and counted correctly because it's easy to make mistakes, and if the money comes out short then it's money that comes out of the owners own pocket. Another thing I didn't exactly love was how much there was needed to learn. Personally, I don't mind taking the time to learn everything and seeing what it's really like to be informed on everything, It's that I only had so much time Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Job Shadow Essay As a senior at Summit–Academy North high school, I am required to participate in a job shadow with a professional in the line of work that I am interested in pursuing. On April 13th, I visited Flat Rock Physicians and completed my job shadow experience with one of the doctors that worked there, her name was Dr.Fretz. I was the only student shadowing her that say. While I was there I observed her as she completed her tasks as a family doctor. The reason why I chose to shadow Dr.Fretz is because I plan on going into a career in the medical field and I want to do something that'll give me the chance to help people when they need it and this type of career will give me that opportunity. Every profession has a list of responsibilities that the...show more content... I would also still consider this occupation because I love to see the joy on others faces when I am given the chance to help them. Out of everything, the most enjoyable part of my experience was when I was eating lunch and I got to chat with all the nurses because I felt welcomed by their kindness. The least enjoyable part of my experience was when Dr.Fretz was updating her patents portfolios because it took a colossal amount of time to complete to the task. Overall, my experience at the office was delightful peaceful and relaxing. During the time that I spent at Flat Rock Physicians, I learned that there is a ton of work and time that goes into preparing for this occupation. Dr.Fretz explained that she started out in college with intentions on obtaining a bachelor's degree in medicine but, changed her mind half way through and decided to go for a PhD. She also went on to explain that she was required to work in a hospital for 1 years before getting her PhD. She stated that there is no real training that is required but you are required to have experience with patents and all sorts of different Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Job Shadowing Essay The Day in the Life of a Cook I woke up as normal that morning of the job shadow; though, my stomach did flip flops as I was anxious about the day ahead. My clothes had been laid out the night before, and I had my clipboard loaded with all the paperwork along with my charged laptop. Deep breaths helped sooth my nerves, but my nerves still wouldn't go all the way. My job shadow was at Augusta Head Start, where my mother worked, since it was not far from home, and since I had considered culinary science, I thought it would be beneficial if I job shadowed some one in the culinary world. The environment was clean, but very muggy due to no AC. I felt very sorry for Mrs. Doell, the one I was job shadowing, but she managed to keep a smile during Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 20. My Job Shadowing Career After spending an entire day job shadowing the director of tennis at River City, I do not want to pursue this field of study. Before I began this job shadow, I knew that I did not want to go into this profession because I have dreams of working on Wall Street in New York City.
