Real Beyonce Essay
Beyonce is someone who needs no introduction, having spent the better part of a decade and a half
building a legacy that cements her firmly, both critically and commercially as one of the most
successful singers in history . In fact it's arguable she has almost no contemporary competition, with
people like LA Reid calling for her to be acknowledged as the "Greatest perfomer alive" Her on
stage performances are so exact in their timing and execution that hearing reports of her firing her
crew for missing a cue or cutting her mic is not surprising .
When it comes to music videos however, Beyoncé enters another realm. With over 540 nominations
and over 120 video centric awards, it's clear that no one quite makes an impact with the immensity

Here we have not only a goddess reincarnate, bent on exacting her wrath but we also have a very big
change of pace for Yoncé herself.
Yes clearly the creative choice was to have Beyoncé in character as Oshun, taking revenge on her
cheating lover but the emotion, timing and sense of detached disgust as she recites " What's worse
looking jelous or crazy?" begs the question is this finally the real Beyoncé?
After all, Beyoncé's brand has been built to be this untouchable, flawless, perfect legacy. She has no
flaws, or at least has no one who wishes to point them out. Her entire image is one of perfection, she
is as Whopi Goldburg said "Beyoncé", a word that has become synonymous with being a queen,
being a boss and being a goddess. Yet in Hold Up and indeed throughout Lemonade it's self we see
this act for what it is– a fabricated image. Here right now we see Beyoncé's anger, but also her
insecurity. Here she is human, here although dressed and styled like a goddess, the hurt and betrayal
is hers to bear.
The biggest revelation Beyoncé made during Lemonade wasn't her husbands infidelity, or "Becky
with the good hair".
It's the fact that Beyoncé is

Shard Academy: A Fictional Narrative
Shard Academy: the last place I expected to be. The only reason I enrolled there was to rebel against
my parents who ruthlessly tried to make me enroll in Fragment or Ridgeview. They conflicted with
each other about my future, which was something I didn't like to worry about that much. But thanks
to that, I never made friends and never had a life that a kid should have. But it's not that bad, not
really. Just annoying. They always expected a lot from me but I just wanted to follow my own path.
I know I maybe should've done what they said to avoid their wrath but I could honestly care less
about what they wanted from me. Besides I'm not the only child in the family. But then again, my
brother was... Never mind. On a boat to the wonderful place ... Show more content on

Okay, that was the strangest thing that happened to me. I tried to get that memory out of my mind as
I continued my way to the school. This should be an interesting year. But first, better get my stuff to
my dorm. Finally free to relax in my dorm. No parents, no scolding, and no roommate yet.
Hopefully I don't get Bogdan, that guy too weird, and pretty much noisy. I honestly felt bad for
whoever his roommate was. Well, a good nap would make my mood better. Before I'm able to get a
even little shuteye, the door opened and a black haired boy walked in. He looked really unhappy.
"Uh, hi there." I said. He didn't say anything. "I'm Blair, your roommate." He seriously didn't wanna
talk at all. He went to his side of the room and unpacked his bag. Now I'm starting to wish deep
down that Bogdan was my roommate, because at least he could strike up a conversation. "Are you
shy or something? Because if you are, I can leave you be." "No, that's fine. I'm just not used to
conversing with others." the boy said, not glancing my way. "I'm Artemis... Steel." "Oh," Socially
awkward? This might a bit challenging.... "Well, Artemis, since we'll be roommate for the next few
years of our lives, let's get to know each other. What's uh, your favorite

Conversation About Interview
Interviewer: Why the two of you split and when you got back together? Ronald: You got to asked
Hayden, he the one who cut it. Hayden: Thank you, darlin, for making me the bad guy right now. I
can only tell you the basics. I asked to break up just a couple weeks after New Years. I felt bad
because Ronald written me the most nicest letter about our relationship surviving the New Year.
Interviewer: Well, you heard it audience and readers. You got to read it for yourselves to know about
the break up. The two of you are going to answer a few questions about each other. Question #1:

guy. He does not want to be like the rest of the guys in the world. He wants only thing that benefits
him, his friends and family, and other people he cares about. Yes he has little confidence issues, but
he does not make that his main flaw. Interviewer: Question #3: I already read the story and music is
a good motif (if you want to use correct English terminology) in the story and in the South. I would
like for only one of you to answer this question. What is music for your relationship? Hayden:
Music is one of the many backbone of this relationship. We both love music and listens to it
frequently. I was the one to introduced Ronald to country genre of music. Throughout the time
together I give him songs for him to listen to it. He always be complaining that majority of the songs
I give him is love songs. Music is the easiest way I can talk to him. There are songs already created
that speak the same message I want to tell Ronald. Interviewer: This is getting deep. This going to

Is Softball Ruled Over My Life?
Softball ruled over my life from the time I was five years of age until I was fourteen. According to
the people who had watched one of my games, I played first base phenomenally and had some
wonderful at bats when I focused on centering my power to hit the ball with all the force I could
muster. Unfortunately and fortunately, my father coached every team I played on from T–ball to
fast–pitch. At every game, he observed my mechanics and hand–eye coordination, and this pulled
memories of watching my brother hit numerous home runs and make game–winning outs from his
mind. On nearly all of the car rides home, he would tell me "You remind me so much of Dusty. I see

A paper bag full of coins in hand, he once threw a tantrum in the middle of the grocery store because
my mom wanted him to stop shaking the bag around like a lunatic. Every time my mom tells this
story, she laughs about the noise made by the hundreds of coins that scattered over the aisle when
the flimsy bag ripped wide open and the expression on Dusty's face as it happened. My favorite
memory that's been shared with me includes my mother demanding that he turns off the Fresh
Prince of Bel–Air and goes to bed, his fist, French doors, and the emergency room.
Each story I hear about Dusty shows ways that my parents were entirely unprepared for raising a
rambunctious child who carries a galaxy of fire and adventure in his heart. Reckless, independent,
and defiant, he never stopped moving and devising. Hearing these stories brings me to a sense of
nostalgia for a childhood with him and my other brothers that I could never have since they had all
moved on into early adulthood by the time I came into our family, but the age gap between us did
not affect the influence he had in my life. While Dusty still lived in Michigan and I began to develop
into my own person, he and his girlfriend at the time, Sharon, had a responsibility to take me with
them when they

Remind Me, Book 1 In The Chasing Fire
It's not everyday that I fall in love with a series of books the way I did with this one. Remind Me,
book 1 in the Chasing Fire series was an amazing debut for this dynamic author duo. I enjoyed that
book immensely but, Release Me was even more amazing!
First of all, if you haven't read the first book, get on your eReader and download it now. To
thoroughly understand this series, you must read book 1. At the end of that book, Allie discovered
much about her parents, her ex–fiancée and Hudson. Release Me, book 2 starts off right where
Remind Me ends.
Tragedy strikes changing both Allie's personal and professional life. There is much for Allie to deal

They were perfectly written. Allie shows her strengths in this book in many areas. She takes
command of her professional responsibilities, maintains a steady friendship with Harper and
establishes a humorous new relationship with her new assistant Colin.
Hudson, sigh..... continues to be the total alpha male and excels at the "commanding alpha." I mean
seriously, if the commanding alpha was an Olympic sport, I would be on the sidelines holding up
that "10" sign and cheering for sure.
I think what I loved most about Hudson in this story is that he demonstrated how multifaceted he
really is. He is gorgeous, sexy as fuck, powerful, forgiving, romantic, commanding, funny, and
ultimately loving. It is truly evident that Hudson will do anything for Allie making him such a
complete man/character. You'll see, you will love him even more than in Remind Me. I promise.
After misunderstandings have been clarified, this couple finally gets back together. Let me warn you
though, it's the exquisitely written intense and romantic moments planned by Mr. Chase that will
heat up your eReaders and may require a glass of water or

The Importance Of Hard Work
"No human being will work hard at anything unless they believe that they are working for
competence." said William Glasser. Get a job that pays well, get a higher education, be independent

going to college into my brain and it is tradition to continue this because it will set an example for
my younger siblings and family members since I am the first to attend college but also benefiting
my future. My Quality world consist of relationships, experiences, values, and beliefs that I can
learn off. The way life is heading right now might feel impenetrable but with hard work and
dedication I know I can be an academic transformer. I consider myself an autonomous learner but I
am also blessed to be able to lean on my family with anything I feel I cannot overcome,
correspondingly they are great supporters and make me the person I am today. My mother is
charismatic, outspoken and very strong willed. My mother being strong willed and outspoken helps
me have a guidance to how important my future education is as well as my happiness. I have two
outstanding friends who motivate me, keep me grounded yet push me to not settle for less and,
repeatedly remind me that my hard work pays off. I admire those who are complete opposite of
myself and can change me for the better weather it be adventurous and frolicsome or diligent. My

My Favorite Quote Analysis
My favorite quote will always be by Sappho in which she says, "Someone, I tell you, in another time
will remember us." She was right. She's remembered for being a gay poet and is immortalized
despite a lot of her works not being found completely. It's one of my favorite quotes because
identifying as a nonbinary queer person who also likes girls, I can relate to Sappho a lot when she
writes about her desire for love and personal heartbreaks. This quote also brings me ease as even in
"another time" someone will still remember me. I think we all want to leave a legacy of some sort,
and for me I want my legacy to be centered around my experience and accomplishments as an
American born Punjabi artist and social activist, who was also highly active in the LGBTQ+
community. I want someone to remember me because it is a vicious cycle that people of color and
members of the color in the LGBTQ+ community get forgotten in history. History is white– washed.
But the idea that I will do enough in my life to be remembered in some shape or form, reminds me
that my efforts and failures as a Punjabi artist and social activist are just part of a legacy I am
starting.
Moving on, my strength and determination did not magically appear one day. I had a lot of amazing
people who are a part of my support network who helped show me what healthy self love and
growth is supposed to be. One of the people I will be highlighting is my AP English teacher.
Candice Ligator, was one of the best, and one of my favorite teachers in my high school career. She
was a big part of my support system when it came to being a trans and queer student who had a lot
of family issues. She was also a big inspiration to me as she told us stories full of struggles growing
as a teacher. She talked about how starting off as a teacher at first made her cry every night, showing
me that it takes persistence to be adept in a profession. Her choices on the pieces of literature she
taught were engaging as they touched upon feminism, gay rights, and race. This allowed me to
explore both my interest in writing and in social justice. Reading about personal experiences from
Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde, and Ralph Ellison was inspiring as it allowed me to see that I can

My Strength In Life
Lily has had a pretty rough life. From her parents getting divorced when she was 4, her dad abusing
her, her mom becoming a drug addict and her sister passing away when she was 10. Lily has always
stayed strong even though she has been through a lot. She finds different ways to get her mind of
things such as hanging out with friends and playing the sport she loves, volleyball. Although Lily is
great at staying mentally strong, she deals with being ridiculously hard on herself. When she makes
many mistakes in volleyball, she gets upset and it is hard for her to bring herself back up. Lily is the
kind of person some people can relate to, such as me. My greatest personality strength is staying
mentally strong and I will use it to find success in life and happiness. While having that strength, I
also deal with the same weakness as Lily does. My greatest weakness is being very hard on myself
and I will overcome it by realizing my parents will be proud no matter what and focusing on what I
did well. With my strength in mind, staying strong mentally is something that with ease for me
compared to other things. For example, A time I was mentally strong was when I found out my dad
had gotten his third DUI and was going to end up going to jail. I was very upset at the time but I
stayed strong so I didn't upset my dad more than he was. I didn't sit and dwell on it and I did not
focus on "I won't see him for this many days" but I said to myself "in this many days I will be able

The Importance Of Friendship In My Life
One thing I plan to do to meet people who can help me is to make more friends. Making friends is
one way I can build relationships that will benefit me during and after college. I have already built
some friendships with students I have met this year that are beneficial to me in regard to studying. I
can study with the friends I make during college and get help with assignments that I do not
understand. As for after college, the friends that I keep in touch with may inform me of a job
opportunity they have heard of or a job opportunity in their current job. They may be able to connect
me to future employers. Building lasting friendships will benefit me in the long run whether it be
career wise or socially. However, to make more friends I would have to stop being shy and initiate a
conversation with people in my classes instead of sitting quietly until someone talks to me. To
maintain these friendships, I would form study groups with them if we have classes in common,
attend events with them, or hang out with them outside of class.
Another thing I plan to do to meet people who can help me is to interact with my professors more.
Presently, I do not interact much with my professors outside of classes except for when I need help
on an assignment or a grade change. By interacting with my professors more outside of class I will
be able to build a better relationship with my professors. An improved relationship with my
professors will benefit me when I need recommendations or

Essay On Role Of Money In Election
Lama 1
Rajbina Lama GOVT–2306–71003 29 October 2017 Money plays an important role in Elections
and Campaigns. According to the article "The Texas Tribune" it shows that it depends on how much
you are willing to spend. But I also found out that, if you are popular by name like name recognition
than you don't have to spend much. So that means since I am totally new to the system, and I have
no experience in politics they will be lots of questions whether or whether not to give vote to me.
Which means, I will be paying way more then anyone who has been in this industry for a very long
time. Just like U.S. Rep. Will Hurd who spent a big amount of money to win. Where as his against
former U.S. Rep. Pete Gallego spend $13.37 less on each vote ... Show more content on

I would choice "Making America a best place to live in" as my slogan for my campaign. I would
choice celebrity like Kim Kardashian as an endorsement because she has millions and millions of
people who follows her, as well as the recent popular person in the media. It will not only make me
more recognition but I may also get help to increase my voter too. The Dallas Morning News is the
best for me to promote myself in because it is in the top 10 Texas daily newspapers. I read Dallas
Morning newspaper because it gives you the latest and interesting news everyday. I will listen to
each and everyone problems and make that my problem. I will attend all the function to help me
understand what people needs are. I will give my voters a high priority to let them know they are my
most important person. I would remind my supporters to vote, I would go in every door to and leave
notes reminding them to be with me till the end. I would rather focus on my party voter because they
are the one who is supporting me because instead of keeping my eyes on the voter if I focus more on
my opposite party, who are against me, it will not change anything on the Election Day. They are not
the once who helps me wins. However, if I don't focus on my voters, I might lose the once who are
already on my side. So I have to stay strong for the people who are supporting

Personal Reflection
Growing up I became accustomed to being in academic environments that were heavily populated
by minorities. Due to this I was constantly surrounded by people who shared similar backgrounds
and experiences as me. When I began my studies at the University of Maryland it was a completely
different atmosphere. Coming into an environment where I was no longer surrounded by minorities
made me feel out of place. Often times I would ask myself if this was the right place for me, but
then I would remind myself that my hard work and dedication got me there. Still, I would have my
doubts. During my second semester (Spring 2017) I met a couple of girls on campus who were
members of SIA. As I began to talk to them more I quickly noticed their strong work ethic and all of
their achievements. Meeting them helped me stop feeling out of place at school as I was able to
meet more people with similar ethnic backgrounds as me. I admired their interest in creating a
community of Latina empowerment. This is one of the reasons I became interested in joining SIA.
Being in a place where the issues minorities face are often ignored makes it even more important to
have organizations that focus on giving people the support system much needed in college. Another
reason I became interested in SIA was through their events on campus. Members are constantly
organizing events on many topic such as domestic violence and environmental racism. These events
were interesting to me because they were on topics that aren't often talked about. For example, when
I saw flyers about their environmental racism event I became interested in doing my own research
on these topics. Events like these are important because they help educate people on topics that are
often overlooked. This made me excited to join SIA and be able to contribute to this. As I mentioned
before, when I first started college I felt out of place on campus. As the year went by I began to feel
disconnected from my culture. SIA is full of diverse, hardworking individuals who are proud of their
origins. I believe becoming a member of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha Inc. will help me remain
connected to my culture, as well as enrich my knowledge on other cultures. Furthermore, joining
SIA will

Personal Narrative: Tangle
As the movie Tangled tells us, birthdays are "kind of an annual thing." Luckily, I have someone to
remind me every year what Mother Gothel seems to forget. Both me and my sister came into the
world on an early August morning in the year 2000 with only 5 minutes separating us. While I was
happy and healthy with all ten fingers and toes, she was immediately rushed to the NICU because
she still contained some fluid in her lungs, confining her to the hospital while I could go home with
my parents. She was not there for long, only about two weeks, which is still to this day the longest
period of time that both Alex and Meredith Reece have ever been apart from one another. My
parents decided from the start that although we were twins, we should ... Show more content on

You learn how to let go of petty fights and grudges since while you can hide from a friend or
classmate when you fight, it is much harder to hide from someone when you both sleep under the
same roof. Whenever Meredith and I would argue, my mother would always sit us down and remind
us of something; someday, when we are both moved out and in the real world, all we will have is
each other. We won't be able to go home to ask our parents for advice, and we obviously won't be
able to turn to our younger brother for help. But we will be able to turn to each other because we
will be going through the exact experience or emotions the other is going through. She would tell us
how we will need to be dependent on each other in ways that we don't know yet, and we will need to
be compatible for that to even begin to happen. I try to remember that because I know that the real
world isn't that far away, and that there isn't anyone I'd rather have next to me than the one who's
been with me since day one. Growing up as a twin may be difficult, but it is a part of who I am and
how I've come this far. I can't imagine how my life would be with this part of me missing from

He wore an armani suit, tailored perfectly to his body. His silver hair was in a business man like
style and I swore his teeth sparked, like in a tooth brush commercial as he smiled at my sarcasm.

Home: A Short Story
The idea of home is a loose image for me, one that wobbles and threatens to be blown away at the
lightest breath. Home will never be a singular place, as I've become familiar with too many walls,
each a distinct color of beige that is friendly, but not inviting, like a stranger you greet briefly as you
skirt around them on the sidewalk. Each house a place to hold the memories I've placed in objects, a
shell against the cold wind of time that bites harshly at the thin jacket that objects offer to
recollection. Houses are nothing more than a box that contains that which I hold dear. Old pictures
taken with friends against the hazy background of a summer night 10 years ago, a snow globe from
my mother's business trip, a letter from my brother, all things I would consider to be childhood
home above an actual house. Home isn't a place, it's an intangible thought that I hold sweetly in my
head, one that reminds me of the good, the bad, and those who have touched me throughout my life.
The tender spot in my heart for objects, once used to be filled with people. I have been moving
around often since I was born, therefore the impermanence of everything left me feeling rootless, as
a result I would cling desperately to anyone who would even glance back at me. In an attempt to
ground myself, I allowed anyone to make a home in my heart, however I've found that people are
less permanent than places. When I was younger, I had a hard time interacting with many others due
to very severe

A Short Period Of Time Essay
Think of a mother deer raising its fawn, while the fawn is being raised, it is being taught about
survival, how to hunt and catch food. In a short period of time, that fawn is released into the wild on
its own, without its mother. The fawn has to rely on its mother 's teachings and also its own instincts,
Animals raise their young to survive on their own by means of hunting and keeping themselves
protected, while parents send off their children to "survive" on their owns by means of motivation,
determination and independence. I was raised by my parents and they are "sending me off into the

Personal Narrative: A Letter To Baumholder, Germany
In the fall of 2015 I was given orders to report to Baumholder, Germany. I had anticipated my first
assignment eagerly ever since I signed up for the Army in March of that same year. Without any
idea what to expect, I dove in blind. The early days of my assignment in Germany were lonely,
confusing, and misguided. I know that I was extremely anxious to impress my peers and
supervisors. I knew that if I showed I was the best, I would not have to worry about being seen as
the child I was used to being seen as. All of the pressure from coming to a new unit had me on edge.
I met Sergeant Phillips shortly after my arrival to Germany, and needless to say we did not 'hit it off'.
We had troubles in the beginning but I would not have integrated into this Army so well if it weren't
for the guidance and example of Sergeant Adam Phillips. Sergeant Phillips made a lasting
impression on my life professionally and personally. Sergeant Phillips was stationed in Baumholder,
Germany with myself for a short while until he was sent to Fort ... Show more content on

I remain thankful for the lessons Sergeant Phillips taught to me and I will do my best to continue to

I am thankful every day for the experiences I have had in my workplace and my personal life. These
experiences have allowed me to grow into the person I am today. I can no longer say I am naïve or
unaware. I am self–aware and educated on the possibilities in this profession. I would not be able to
say that if it were not for the help of others, but especially Sergeant Phillips. Sergeant Phillips'
impact on my new life will be carried with me and valued to the deepest

Blooming Of Progress : Worldview
Blooming in Progress: Worldview in my Vocation As a believer, I believe in Creationism and that
the universe was created by God ex–nihilo, or from nothing. Moreover, when God created man, he
gifted him with vocation. He was given wisdom, understanding, and knowledge to replenish,
subdue, and rule over the other living things. (Genesis 1:28, King James Version) It is important to
note that even in all that man was ordained to do, that God also blessed him with rest. It is
reassuring to know that God wants us to be diligent and faithful in our work and that he desires to
bless us with rest. For some that is a difficult concept, many employees work six days a week or

Jesus paid the price that we could not pay for our sins to redeem us from death and being eternally
separated from him. No matter our shortcomings and our stubbornness, God still chooses to work in
us and through us despite ourselves. (Veith G. E., 2002) This is exemplified by God allowing us to
serve and be served by people from all walks of life. I think it is to remind us of our dependence on
Him. Just as we realize that we cannot make it in life without God's help, we cannot make it in life
without the people around us, the everyday ordinary people. "God, who pours out his generosity on
the just and the unjust, believer and unbeliever alike, hides himself in the ordinary social functions
and stations of life, even the most humble". (Veith G. , 1999) Our service would not be possible if
Christ had not done for us what we could not do for ourselves. As a matter of vocations, I serve
many roles. I am a mother, a daughter, a sister, a cousin, a friend, a niece, a granddaughter, a
neighbor, an aunt, a wife, a student, and an employee. My calling in each of these areas is different,
yet they share something in common. My duty to serve remains constant. I do not often think of
myself as a citizen, yet, I am. Usually, unless I am traveling, it is not something that I give a second
thought. Yet, I am a Tennessee native, a Texas resident, a member of the Tomball community. My

Personal Narrative-Hyperact Or Fiction?
The fall of 2007 dawned chilly and crisp, and and sunset–colored leaves carpeted the ground. The
wind whistled through the thick forest that surrounded my grandmother's house, and inside the scent
of apples seemed to permeate through every room. I was relaxing next to the fireplace, luxuriating in
the warmth radiating from it like a cat curled in a spot of sunlight. My cousins were scattered around
the basement in similar positions, lulled into drowsiness by the soporific effect of the nearby
television. Before long the hyperactivity present in every child made its appearance, and so I slowly
sat up, stretching my mouth wide into a yawn. "This is so dull! We should be doing something
together instead of wasting all of our time practically ignoring each other," I said with a huff. All of
my cousins looked over at me, and I couldn't help but blush at the scrutiny they gave me. "What do
you suggest we do instead?" Rebecca, the oldest cousin present, asked. I cast my eyes around the
room, searching for an idea. I was like a sailor lost at sea, desperately staring at the stars in the
hopes that they would reveal a path home. To my dismay, I could not think of anything. However, it
seemed that my restlessness infected everyone else, as they started to rouse themselves from their
lethargic states. "We could build a pillow fort," Austin, Rebecca's younger brother, suggested. A
long, drawn out groan from a pile of blankets containing one of my cousins quickly nixed that idea.

Analysis Of The Book ' The Big Blind '
It was a fairly quiet evening in The Black. The place was a sleazy little dive that catered to spacers,
merchants and smugglers but aside from the odd rowdy drunk it wasn 't a place that saw much
action. People came to The Black for a quiet corner to do some business or to get themselves well
and truly drunk where no one would roll them. The only thing going tonight was a group of spacers
playing some Terran card game. A burly Krogan with gold engraving on his crest was riffling the
cards and chattering as he had been all evening.
"Alright, the small blind 's ten cred, the big blind is twenty." The half dozen players were checking
their cards as they made their bets. A Volus was standing on his chair and leaning forward watching

So busy was he sniffing the dubious concoction the bartender handed him that he didn 't really
notice as the three Vorcha began fanning out through the bar. Not until one of them brushed against
him and he spun. The Vorcha spun as well, and the two of them glared at one another for a long
moment before the barbaric vermin backed down. Sniffing, Tahlyn watched him go, glaring after the
creature. If that Vorcha tried that nonsense with Bronn he 'd be picking fangs out of his trachea.
"You have my payment?" The Batarian had an odd sibilance to his voice, and as he cleared his throat
Tahlyn noticed the thick pucker of scar tissue that ran in a crescent around his throat. It looked like
someone had tried to carve his head off and then gotten bored halfway.
"You have the package?" Tahlyn replied, one hand slipping into his pocket. His right hand fell to the

Before the Batarian could reply, there was a commotion.
"Here! She is here!" One of the Vorcha crooned, and the two Salarians produced bulky pistols and
advanced.
"Artemis Chase, your debts are past due. Do you have the credits to pay them?" The first Salarian
asked, and the Vorcha were converging on the redheaded human. The second hefted his Carnifex

Reading Gottman 's Article Reminds Me Where I Stand With...
Reading Gottman 's article reminds me where i stand with my current relationship and how different
my past relationship was due to no connection. John Gottman is a researcher in human relationships.
Gottman suggested that " Relationships grow bid by bid"(146). With that in mind he wrote a self–
hand book called "The Relationship Cure." Which gives advice on different ways to connect
emotional.
One of Gottman 's main focuses is on marriage connections. He portrays a different view on how a
long lasting marriage should be. Gottman starts off that when one shares his or her emotions it 's
considered a behavior. This behavior is called a bid. In a marriage one can decide the outcome of an
argument using bid. In his reading he says depending on one 's response or reaction it can dictate
how it plays out. Positive and negative responses are a big factor to a marriage. In order to have a
successful marriage one needs to crop out the negative response one gives. Gottman describes three
different turning points in a relationship. The choices one makes when responding to bids. These
turning points are being used everyday in relationships. All three types of behaviors have different
meanings and consequences. Gottman says using the turning toward behavior is a positive reaction,
that will allow ways for bids to connect emotionally and grow. The second and third points are
considered negative responses which are called the turning against and turning away. Which can be

Analysis Of The Comeback
Many times in my life I fell critically far behind in school, athletics, and life, that I thought I was
going to fail in all aspects of life. When I am falling behind in my school work or athletics, I try to
remember that God can help me. Danny Gokey's song "The Comeback" reaffirms God's power for
me. "The Comeback's" music video's main message is to never give up, be persistent, and rely on
God. Danny Gokey's main audience is a younger generation, the message Gokey wants to show his
audience is, God is in control and people should trust God's plan. This plan is revealed in the video
through the symbols related to sports and athletics in general. Gokey's lyrics are empowering,
because they contain many biblical references. The producer's choice of having only one character
in the video shows the audience how people are never truly alone, because God is always with them.
The music video shows the audience how no one can ever fall too far behind in their spiritual
relationship with God or athletics, because God can help people out of any difficulty. People are
comforted and have more peace with themselves when they believe that God is in control of their
life.
The plot of the music video is well–developed, because the main character has victories over her
hardships and overcomes her injury in the video, the plot shows how God can help people out of any
difficulty. The plot consists of a young girl, she is a gymnastics champion. She suffers from an ankle
injury and because of her injury she couldn't compete for a long time. The girl was falling far behind
in her training. Many other gymnasts were surpassing her in the sport, because she was not able to
perform. When the girl regained her health, she didn't believe she could ever return to the skill level
she was at before her injury. God comforted the young girl though her times of trouble. After God
comforted her, she regained her confidence and felt that with God's help she would be able to make
a comeback in her sport. It was difficult for the girl, because she practiced constantly. She was
persistent with her training and eventually became even better than she was before her injury. The
plot of the music video is vital in getting the message of God's power

walks of life. Jason Gray's music video, "Remind Me Who I Am", strongly emphasizes human
perspective of self–worth and fear of not being able to measure up through his lyrics and video
images. Jason Gray grew up in an abusive home. He developed a speech impediment that was
triggered by his parents' divorce. He felt deep rejection which was caused by an unkind step farther.
That lead him down the wrong path in hope of his actions expressing his worth. Which created a

"Remind me who I am" he cries out to God seeking for validation. The images show people
portrayed in different ages of life, diverse ethnic backgrounds, both male and female subjects. Jason
identifies with the people that hold the cardboard signs displayed in the background of the video.
The words were written by people who hold them up as a symbol to offer the words back to God.
Some read, "I Don't Matter", "Addict", "Victim", "Rejected", and "Empty." Other persons lift
experiences which some people may be currently going through to let them know that they aren't the
only ones. Words written out as, "My life doesn't work", "I am angry", "They used me" and a hard
one to admit "I cheated on them too." The outward appearances of these individuals selected show
everyday normal people. At first glance, the judgement or label they hold up wouldn't be something
to be remotely guessed. During the video, the song artist takes polaroid photos of the subjects with
the cardboard signs. In each developed photo the cardboard no longer reads of their hurt or mistake
but now reads the same for everyone, "Beloved."

Introduction
A facet of Christian faith is the belief that mankind is created in the image of God. So God created
mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."
I believe we were created in God's image, and that it influences me every day as a manager at

no bias or exploitation of others based on looks, creed, race, gender, etc. The inherit image of God in

Reading the Bible and feeling the servant spirit of Jesus gives me great hope for a program such as
this. Being formed from his image I feel we should emulate that same servant attitude towards
others. In Mark 9:35 Jesus says "If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all."
For those who enter our store I am their servant because I wish to emulate Jesus in helping those
around me. Many customers do not wish for my help, while others spurn it. I can only continue to
try and follow his direction and know that in Chronicles 15:7 it says "But you, take courage! Do not
let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded." The Vibe program is truly about
increasing sales for our store and company. I look at it as an opportunity to do God's will. Being
made in God's image makes me feel closer to God and makes me want to help others and bring them
closer to God. In my job I have that opportunity to help others, and whether it's a smile, pointing
someone to the item they are looking for, or that rare opportunity to tell them about the wonderful
church I belong too, I am thankful.
Conclusion
God set us apart from the animals and made us in his image. We are mentally smarter, emotionally

Sheila was my personal favorite person in this story not only because she designed websites but also
for many other reasons. One reason was because Sheila kept to herself.
One more main character was Alicia. Alicia was blind, and she didn't mind it at all. Alicia's
blindness happened when she was 12 years old during the middle of the night. The covers on her
bed wouldn't stop falling off and when she went to go pick the quilt she used to cover with she
bumped her head and got back in bed and when she got up she was blind and couldn't see anymore.
Other than her blindness Alicia is very sarcastic and bossy, which in some ways could be bad and
others very good.
My favorite part of this book is when Sheila says that she doesn't want to go back to being normal
and that she would rather stay the way she is. This doesn't really remind me of anything that I have
read or done, it just reminds me of when I had a dream that I was invisible and could go anywhere
that I wanted to.
In conclusion, I enjoyed reading the book, Things Not Seen very well. In conclusion Bobby wanted

The Critical Theory Reading Reminds Me Of The Idea Of...

Sociology/Social Studies
READING SUMMARY/REFLECTION (SOC 802)
Topic: Critical Sociological Theory
INTRODUCTION
The critical theory reading reminds me of the idea of Frankenstein's monster . This idea describes
any process that sets up to destroy itself. It helps us to appreciate the links in the building blocks of
any process and how those links create weaknesses that unravel the same process. As it relates to
critical theory, we will see quite clearly how the theory builds up and eventually collapse as we
study its evolution.
I am attracted to critical theory first of all due to its links with Marxism. For me, Marxism is the
exact model of what a theory should be. It describes, explains and predicts the outcome of a specific
social situation. While the processes prescribed may be contestable– in fact, every idea should be
contestable–, the fact that it attempts to fulfill all aspects of a theory makes Marxism the all–time
great. But this reading is not about Marxism, it is about critical theory. So, what is critical theory?
How is the theory applied in society? What are the major ideas that it draw from? What are the
major flaws in the theory and how has the theory itself contributed to its downfall?
CONCEPTUALIZING CRITICAL THEORY
Critical theory is an idea that speaks to the individual desire for achieving success as defined by the
individual and not the society. It lends itself more to finding out why there are paradoxes in society.

Persuasive Essay On Having A Phone
What do you think of specifically when someone asks what everyone has these days? I don't know
about you, but I think of a phone. Most everyone, no matter what age, has a phone in today's world.
I think I should get a phone because it will be easier to contact people as well as making it easier to
use the internet for educational purposes, easier to stay updated on certain situations going on in my
life and it will teach and make me become more responsible.
To begin with, I think I should get a phone because will make it a lot easier to contact people I
know, such as family or friends that live far away or even if they are only a little bit away. With an
iPod I can text, but only when I'm connected to wifi. It will also make it easier to use the internet
whenever needed for education and learning purposes. I then can look up help on homework
whenever I need to with or without wifi. But not only will a having a phone help me contact people
easier and get school help it would also be easier to stay updated on certain things.
Second, I think I should get a phone because I would be more up to date on certain issues going on
in my life. I would be able to check messages from my mentors easier. Especially with our grade
being on social media all the time, now I feel really left out. I never know what others are talking

My Rule Of Life
My Rule of Life is going to help and direct me to where I want to grow spiritually. Like a trellis that
helps guide plants to grow up in the direction it need to go, I want my Rule of Life to the same. With
God's first two questions to humanity, "Where are you?" and "Where is your brother?" I answered
by saying that I do not know. Right now, I am at a time where I feel lost and need some guidance. I
grew up in a Catholic household, but I never paid attention during mass. I believed that my
background was going to help me but saying that I am a catholic does not mean the same as being a
catholic. Ever since then I never started to build my "spiritual trellis" that is going to help me grow
and connect with God. Once I went through some of the spiritual practices, it has helped me
understand and look at things in a different perspective. I began to build my "spiritual trellis" around
margins, non–judging, blessing others, and encouraging others. I have not been doing the practices
from my Rule of Life, but I plan to use these practices hopefully every day for the rest of my life.
By doing this I would expect myself to have grown and reach the gates to the kingdom. The selected
spiritual practices margin, non–judging, blessing others, and encouraging others are on my Rule of
Life. I chose margin because I liked the feeling of slowing down and really taking time to look at
things I may have missed. As a college student, many times I feel rushed and need do everything

Learning Responsibility On City Sidewalks By Jane Jacobs
Learning Responsibility on City Sidewalks
In the essay " Learning Responsibility on City Sidewalks", the author Jane Jacobs shows us that it is
important to let children interact with city sidewalks because they can learn lots of things there. On
the other hand, the author also argues that it is necessary to select appropriate public areas because
not all the public areas can give children advantage lessons. Based on author's observations, some
parents will allow their children play in parks so they are convenient to take care of children and
save money for hiring daycare. However, it is not useful for children to learn in this environment.
For example, children will not learn independent under parent's supervision. Combing all the

According to the essay " Nature Through the Looking Glass", the author believes that people should
be part of nature, but most of the time people do not have real touch activity of nature. Under the

nature. Those green plants on two sides of the city sidewalk is one of the chances for people to get
touch to nature. More importantly, walking in the city sidewalks is easier than having a travel, which
can satisfy most of the city people's working requirement . Also, nature world will bring quiet life
for people I always ask myself, if I can live without business area, after reading the essay " The
Forged City". And I get a response, which is people need to get out of business activities and come
back to nature even a short time in each day. Without interest relationship, people's life will become
simple and pure. Shopping malls cannot replace traditional city centers because people have large
limitations in business malls. In contrast, people can observe different levels people in the society
with equality ideas in traditional city centers. City sidewalks can fit for this requirement and provide
a comfortable area for all of us. When children go

College Admissions Essay: You Get What You Give
You get what you give. This is more than a line from a song that has been stuck in my head
constantly, but a lesson I have learned throughout my life so far. One of the earliest recollection I
have from this, was when I was a twelve year old. I was traveling with my parents to Roosevelt Mall
on the weekend, something I associate with jovial times. After eating lunch, we decided to take a
stroll around the mall. We kept walking until a glamorous thing caught my eye, Apple. No, not the
red, juicy, delicious apple you would pick up from the supermarket, but the Apple that was filled with
innovation, astonished crowds, and me, a young twelve year old boy. Now, when I was a twelve
year old, anything that was blinking or was particularly shiny ... Show more content on

On the back of my iPad, it reads, "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference." This quote
showed me that if I was willing to put my best effort in, and had the right mindset, I could achieve
any goal I wanted to. Four years later, this has proven to be one of the most important lesson I have
learned during my life. It has always been on the back of my mind whenever I am attempting
something. I realize that nobody is perfect, but that is not an excuse for us to not give our best effort.
It all started with an iPad which I was hypnotized by and could not resist, but now as a high
schooler, I reflected what happened at the mall. Did I really want the iPad? Yeah, sure, it was cool at
the time. But, was that really the award that I would remember? No... The real award for me was the
fact that the importance of hard work has really stuck with me throughout all these years. Being a
hard worker is something that is not taught, but something you learn with life experiences. Without
earning this iPad the right way, I may not be the person who I am today. Success is a two way street;
in life, you definitely get what you

Descriptive Essay About My Friend
Shannon L. Alder says, "Beauty is not who you are on the outside, it is the wisdom and time you
gave away to save another struggling soul like you." My friend Madison Smith is eighteen years old.
She is five feet four inches tall and has light brown eyes. Her soft, dirty blond, wavy hair goes a few
inches past her shoulders. She has smooth, fair white skin. Her complexion is perfect with her face
free of make–up. The style of her clothing is very modern with her own unique touch. Singing is one
activity that she is seen doing often, with her voice being both gentle and strong. Riding horses is
another activity she is skillful at. None of these things, however, do I consider important when
describing her. Her personality can be summed up in just one word, generous. She gives gifts,
advice, encouragement, time, and inspiration without any hesitation. First, distributing gifts is a
moment Madison thoroughly enjoys. At Christmas time she likes to hand out presents exceedingly
more than actually receiving them. Whether she is getting a present for one of her four sisters or for
a friend, she takes time deciding what she wants to buy them. This is because she cares. It is not
merely an action that she does under obligation, but a choice that she finds joy in. Advice is another
aspect where she is exceptional at giving. Every Wednesday night at church we get a chance to talk.
I can tell her whatever situation I am dealing with and she always gives me guidance. Even if what

Descriptive Essay About My New Home
Many things could've woken me up that morning: My own worry and fault for not being able to
sleep, the moving trucks constant beeping reminding me of my soon departure, or the alarm my
mom set the night before. Either way I was going to end up going to bed that night the same way, on
the floor of my new house, miles away from my home. I woke with the battle of not knowing
whether I was dreaming or if this was reality, and for a few short seconds before my conscious told
me why I was up, I had completely forgotten the day ahead of me. I look around at my once poster
filled walls of bad boy bands and teen movies. My poster board of movie stubs and notes I had
passed around with my friends now perfectly packed up into categorized and clearly labelled
containers. I have moved enough in my life to know the drill, though I thought I wouldn't have to
ever recall it again. I have to start packing the week before, and remember to leave the essentials out
the night before. On the foot of my bed were the only things not packed and bound for my new
home. I had my hair dryer for my long brown unmanageable hair, makeup, a mirror, two sets of
clothing, and the necklace my grandma gave me before she passed, which was to remind me that
home is not a place but the people that I take to those places. My grandma always knew how much
moving for dad's job had affected me, and I really thought this was the last time I had to feel that
way. Earlier that week, my mom came into my room to

Here are a few thoughts on your essay:- You effectively use personal anecdotes and stories to illustrate how your brother Dusty influenced you despite the age gap. Memories and stories can be very powerful ways to connect people across time.- It's clear you admire Dusty's free spirit and zest for life. However, be careful not to overly romanticize or put him on a pedestal, as real people are complex with both virtues and flaws. - You may want to reflect more on how Dusty specifically shaped your own personality, interests, or approach to the world. The essay hints at this but does not fully explore it. - Consider adding more of your own voice and perspective

  • 1. Real Beyonce Essay Beyonce is someone who needs no introduction, having spent the better part of a decade and a half building a legacy that cements her firmly, both critically and commercially as one of the most successful singers in history . In fact it's arguable she has almost no contemporary competition, with people like LA Reid calling for her to be acknowledged as the "Greatest perfomer alive" Her on stage performances are so exact in their timing and execution that hearing reports of her firing her crew for missing a cue or cutting her mic is not surprising . When it comes to music videos however, Beyoncé enters another realm. With over 540 nominations and over 120 video centric awards, it's clear that no one quite makes an impact with the immensity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here we have not only a goddess reincarnate, bent on exacting her wrath but we also have a very big change of pace for Yoncé herself. Yes clearly the creative choice was to have Beyoncé in character as Oshun, taking revenge on her cheating lover but the emotion, timing and sense of detached disgust as she recites " What's worse looking jelous or crazy?" begs the question is this finally the real Beyoncé? After all, Beyoncé's brand has been built to be this untouchable, flawless, perfect legacy. She has no flaws, or at least has no one who wishes to point them out. Her entire image is one of perfection, she is as Whopi Goldburg said "Beyoncé", a word that has become synonymous with being a queen, being a boss and being a goddess. Yet in Hold Up and indeed throughout Lemonade it's self we see this act for what it is– a fabricated image. Here right now we see Beyoncé's anger, but also her insecurity. Here she is human, here although dressed and styled like a goddess, the hurt and betrayal is hers to bear. The biggest revelation Beyoncé made during Lemonade wasn't her husbands infidelity, or "Becky with the good hair". It's the fact that Beyoncé is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Shard Academy: A Fictional Narrative Shard Academy: the last place I expected to be. The only reason I enrolled there was to rebel against my parents who ruthlessly tried to make me enroll in Fragment or Ridgeview. They conflicted with each other about my future, which was something I didn't like to worry about that much. But thanks to that, I never made friends and never had a life that a kid should have. But it's not that bad, not really. Just annoying. They always expected a lot from me but I just wanted to follow my own path. I know I maybe should've done what they said to avoid their wrath but I could honestly care less about what they wanted from me. Besides I'm not the only child in the family. But then again, my brother was... Never mind. On a boat to the wonderful place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Okay, that was the strangest thing that happened to me. I tried to get that memory out of my mind as I continued my way to the school. This should be an interesting year. But first, better get my stuff to my dorm. Finally free to relax in my dorm. No parents, no scolding, and no roommate yet. Hopefully I don't get Bogdan, that guy too weird, and pretty much noisy. I honestly felt bad for whoever his roommate was. Well, a good nap would make my mood better. Before I'm able to get a even little shuteye, the door opened and a black haired boy walked in. He looked really unhappy. "Uh, hi there." I said. He didn't say anything. "I'm Blair, your roommate." He seriously didn't wanna talk at all. He went to his side of the room and unpacked his bag. Now I'm starting to wish deep down that Bogdan was my roommate, because at least he could strike up a conversation. "Are you shy or something? Because if you are, I can leave you be." "No, that's fine. I'm just not used to conversing with others." the boy said, not glancing my way. "I'm Artemis... Steel." "Oh," Socially awkward? This might a bit challenging.... • 9. Is Softball Ruled Over My Life? Softball ruled over my life from the time I was five years of age until I was fourteen. According to the people who had watched one of my games, I played first base phenomenally and had some wonderful at bats when I focused on centering my power to hit the ball with all the force I could muster. Unfortunately and fortunately, my father coached every team I played on from T–ball to fast–pitch. At every game, he observed my mechanics and hand–eye coordination, and this pulled memories of watching my brother hit numerous home runs and make game–winning outs from his mind. On nearly all of the car rides home, he would tell me "You remind me so much of Dusty. I see him the way you throw, in the way you hit the ball, and the way you present ... My favorite memory that's been shared with me includes my mother demanding that he turns off the Fresh Prince of Bel–Air and goes to bed, his fist, French doors, and the emergency room. Each story I hear about Dusty shows ways that my parents were entirely unprepared for raising a rambunctious child who carries a galaxy of fire and adventure in his heart. Reckless, independent, and defiant, he never stopped moving and devising. Hearing these stories brings me to a sense of nostalgia for a childhood with him and my other brothers that I could never have since they had all moved on into early adulthood by the time I came into our family, but the age gap between us did not affect the influence he had in my life. While Dusty still lived in Michigan and I began to develop into my own person, he and his girlfriend at the time, Sharon, had a responsibility to take me with them when they ... First of all, if you haven't read the first book, get on your eReader and download it now. To thoroughly understand this series, you must read book 1. At the end of that book, Allie discovered much about her parents, her ex–fiancée and Hudson. Release Me, book 2 starts off right where Remind Me ends. She takes command of her professional responsibilities, maintains a steady friendship with Harper and establishes a humorous new relationship with her new assistant Colin. I mean seriously, if the commanding alpha was an Olympic sport, I would be on the sidelines holding up that "10" sign and cheering for sure. I think what I loved most about Hudson in this story is that he demonstrated how multifaceted he really is. He is gorgeous, sexy as fuck, powerful, forgiving, romantic, commanding, funny, and ultimately loving. It is truly evident that Hudson will do anything for Allie making him such a complete man/character. You'll see, you will love him even more than in Remind Me. I promise. • 15. My Favorite Quote Analysis My favorite quote will always be by Sappho in which she says, "Someone, I tell you, in another time will remember us." She was right. She's remembered for being a gay poet and is immortalized despite a lot of her works not being found completely. It's one of my favorite quotes because identifying as a nonbinary queer person who also likes girls, I can relate to Sappho a lot when she writes about her desire for love and personal heartbreaks. This quote also brings me ease as even in "another time" someone will still remember me. I think we all want to leave a legacy of some sort, and for me I want my legacy to be centered around my experience and accomplishments as an American born Punjabi artist and social activist, who was also highly active in the LGBTQ+ community. I want someone to remember me because it is a vicious cycle that people of color and members of the color in the LGBTQ+ community get forgotten in history. History is white– washed. But the idea that I will do enough in my life to be remembered in some shape or form, reminds me that my efforts and failures as a Punjabi artist and social activist are just part of a legacy I am starting. Moving on, my strength and determination did not magically appear one day. I had a lot of amazing people who are a part of my support network who helped show me what healthy self love and growth is supposed to be. One of the people I will be highlighting is my AP English teacher. Candice Ligator, was one of the best, and one of my favorite teachers in my high school career. She was a big part of my support system when it came to being a trans and queer student who had a lot of family issues. She was also a big inspiration to me as she told us stories full of struggles growing as a teacher. She talked about how starting off as a teacher at first made her cry every night, showing me that it takes persistence to be adept in a profession. Her choices on the pieces of literature she taught were engaging as they touched upon feminism, gay rights, and race. This allowed me to explore both my interest in writing and in social justice. Reading about personal experiences from Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde, and Ralph Ellison was inspiring as it allowed me to see that I can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. My Strength In Life Lily has had a pretty rough life. From her parents getting divorced when she was 4, her dad abusing her, her mom becoming a drug addict and her sister passing away when she was 10. Lily has always stayed strong even though she has been through a lot. She finds different ways to get her mind of things such as hanging out with friends and playing the sport she loves, volleyball. Although Lily is great at staying mentally strong, she deals with being ridiculously hard on herself. When she makes many mistakes in volleyball, she gets upset and it is hard for her to bring herself back up. Lily is the kind of person some people can relate to, such as me. My greatest personality strength is staying mentally strong and I will use it to find success in life and happiness. While having that strength, I also deal with the same weakness as Lily does. My greatest weakness is being very hard on myself and I will overcome it by realizing my parents will be proud no matter what and focusing on what I did well. With my strength in mind, staying strong mentally is something that with ease for me compared to other things. For example, A time I was mentally strong was when I found out my dad had gotten his third DUI and was going to end up going to jail. I was very upset at the time but I stayed strong so I didn't upset my dad more than he was. Making friends is one way I can build relationships that will benefit me during and after college. I have already built some friendships with students I have met this year that are beneficial to me in regard to studying. I can study with the friends I make during college and get help with assignments that I do not understand. As for after college, the friends that I keep in touch with may inform me of a job opportunity they have heard of or a job opportunity in their current job. They may be able to connect me to future employers. Building lasting friendships will benefit me in the long run whether it be career wise or socially. However, to make more friends I would have to stop being shy and initiate a conversation with people in my classes instead of sitting quietly until someone talks to me. To maintain these friendships, I would form study groups with them if we have classes in common, attend events with them, or hang out with them outside of class. Another thing I plan to do to meet people who can help me is to interact with my professors more. Presently, I do not interact much with my professors outside of classes except for when I need help on an assignment or a grade change. By interacting with my professors more outside of class I will be able to build a better relationship with my professors. According to the article "The Texas Tribune" it shows that it depends on how much you are willing to spend. But I also found out that, if you are popular by name like name recognition than you don't have to spend much. So that means since I am totally new to the system, and I have no experience in politics they will be lots of questions whether or whether not to give vote to me. Which means, I will be paying way more then anyone who has been in this industry for a very long time. Just like U.S. Rep. Will Hurd who spent a big amount of money to win. • 25. Personal Reflection Growing up I became accustomed to being in academic environments that were heavily populated by minorities. Due to this I was constantly surrounded by people who shared similar backgrounds and experiences as me. When I began my studies at the University of Maryland it was a completely different atmosphere. Coming into an environment where I was no longer surrounded by minorities made me feel out of place. Often times I would ask myself if this was the right place for me, but then I would remind myself that my hard work and dedication got me there. Still, I would have my doubts. During my second semester (Spring 2017) I met a couple of girls on campus who were members of SIA. As I began to talk to them more I quickly noticed their strong work ethic and all of their achievements. Meeting them helped me stop feeling out of place at school as I was able to meet more people with similar ethnic backgrounds as me. I admired their interest in creating a community of Latina empowerment. This is one of the reasons I became interested in joining SIA. Being in a place where the issues minorities face are often ignored makes it even more important to have organizations that focus on giving people the support system much needed in college. Another reason I became interested in SIA was through their events on campus. Members are constantly organizing events on many topic such as domestic violence and environmental racism. These events were interesting to me because they were on topics that aren't often talked about. For example, when I saw flyers about their environmental racism event I became interested in doing my own research on these topics. Events like these are important because they help educate people on topics that are often overlooked. This made me excited to join SIA and be able to contribute to this. As I mentioned before, when I first started college I felt out of place on campus. As the year went by I began to feel disconnected from my culture. SIA is full of diverse, hardworking individuals who are proud of their origins. I believe becoming a member of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha Inc. will help me remain connected to my culture, as well as enrich my knowledge on other cultures. Furthermore, joining SIA will ... But we will be able to turn to each other because we will be going through the exact experience or emotions the other is going through. • 31. Home: A Short Story The idea of home is a loose image for me, one that wobbles and threatens to be blown away at the lightest breath. Home will never be a singular place, as I've become familiar with too many walls, each a distinct color of beige that is friendly, but not inviting, like a stranger you greet briefly as you skirt around them on the sidewalk. Each house a place to hold the memories I've placed in objects, a shell against the cold wind of time that bites harshly at the thin jacket that objects offer to recollection. Houses are nothing more than a box that contains that which I hold dear. Old pictures taken with friends against the hazy background of a summer night 10 years ago, a snow globe from my mother's business trip, a letter from my brother, all things I would consider to be childhood home above an actual house. Home isn't a place, it's an intangible thought that I hold sweetly in my head, one that reminds me of the good, the bad, and those who have touched me throughout my life. Moreover, when God created man, he gifted him with vocation. He was given wisdom, understanding, and knowledge to replenish, subdue, and rule over the other living things. (Genesis 1:28, King James Version) It is important to note that even in all that man was ordained to do, that God also blessed him with rest. Just as we realize that we cannot make it in life without God's help, we cannot make it in life without the people around us, the everyday ordinary people. The wind whistled through the thick forest that surrounded my grandmother's house, and inside the scent of apples seemed to permeate through every room. I was relaxing next to the fireplace, luxuriating in the warmth radiating from it like a cat curled in a spot of sunlight. My cousins were scattered around the basement in similar positions, lulled into drowsiness by the soporific effect of the nearby television. Before long the hyperactivity present in every child made its appearance, and so I slowly sat up, stretching my mouth wide into a yawn. "This is so dull! We should be doing something together instead of wasting all of our time practically ignoring each other," I said with a huff. All of my cousins looked over at me, and I couldn't help but blush at the scrutiny they gave me. "What do you suggest we do instead?" Rebecca, the oldest cousin present, asked. I cast my eyes around the room, searching for an idea. I was like a sailor lost at sea, desperately staring at the stars in the hopes that they would reveal a path home. To my dismay, I could not think of anything. However, it seemed that my restlessness infected everyone else, as they started to rouse themselves from their lethargic states. • 43. Analysis Of The Book ' The Big Blind ' It was a fairly quiet evening in The Black. The place was a sleazy little dive that catered to spacers, merchants and smugglers but aside from the odd rowdy drunk it wasn 't a place that saw much action. People came to The Black for a quiet corner to do some business or to get themselves well and truly drunk where no one would roll them. The only thing going tonight was a group of spacers playing some Terran card game. A burly Krogan with gold engraving on his crest was riffling the cards and chattering as he had been all evening. Not until one of them brushed against him and he spun. The Vorcha spun as well, and the two of them glared at one another for a long moment before the barbaric vermin backed down. Sniffing, Tahlyn watched him go, glaring after the creature. If that Vorcha tried that nonsense with Bronn he 'd be picking fangs out of his trachea. "You have my payment?" The Batarian had an odd sibilance to his voice, and as he cleared his throat Tahlyn noticed the thick pucker of scar tissue that ran in a crescent around his throat. It looked like someone had tried to carve his head off and then gotten bored halfway. "You have the package?" Tahlyn replied, one hand slipping into his pocket. His right hand fell to the Elkoss Shuriken holstered at his side. Before the Batarian could reply, there was a commotion. "Here! She is here!" One of the Vorcha crooned, and the two Salarians produced bulky pistols and advanced. "Artemis Chase, your debts are past due. Do you have the credits to pay them?" The first Salarian asked, and the Vorcha were converging on the redheaded human. The second hefted his Carnifex and smiled a froggy smile. All sound in the bar grew quiet as people edged ... • 48. Reading Gottman 's Article Reminds Me Where I Stand With... Reading Gottman 's article reminds me where i stand with my current relationship and how different my past relationship was due to no connection. John Gottman is a researcher in human relationships. Gottman suggested that " Relationships grow bid by bid"(146). With that in mind he wrote a self– hand book called "The Relationship Cure." Which gives advice on different ways to connect emotional. One of Gottman 's main focuses is on marriage connections. He portrays a different view on how a long lasting marriage should be. Gottman starts off that when one shares his or her emotions it 's considered a behavior. This behavior is called a bid. In a marriage one can decide the outcome of an argument using bid. In his reading he says depending on one 's response or reaction it can dictate how it plays out. Positive and negative responses are a big factor to a marriage. In order to have a successful marriage one needs to crop out the negative response one gives. Gottman describes three different turning points in a relationship. The choices one makes when responding to bids. These turning points are being used everyday in relationships. All three types of behaviors have different meanings and consequences. Gottman says using the turning toward behavior is a positive reaction, that will allow ways for bids to connect emotionally and grow. The second and third points are considered negative responses which are called the turning against and turning away. Which can be the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His songs made an impact on people in different walks of life. Jason Gray's music video, "Remind Me Who I Am", strongly emphasizes human perspective of self–worth and fear of not being able to measure up through his lyrics and video images. Jason Gray grew up in an abusive home. He developed a speech impediment that was triggered by his parents' divorce. He felt deep rejection which was caused by an unkind step farther. That lead him down the wrong path in hope of his actions expressing his worth. Which created a desperation for Christ in his life. He felt he needs God to show him who he is, ... Some read, "I Don't Matter", "Addict", "Victim", "Rejected", and "Empty." Other persons lift experiences which some people may be currently going through to let them know that they aren't the only ones. Words written out as, "My life doesn't work", "I am angry", "They used me" and a hard one to admit "I cheated on them too." The outward appearances of these individuals selected show everyday normal people. At first glance, the judgement or label they hold up wouldn't be something to be remotely guessed. During the video, the song artist takes polaroid photos of the subjects with the cardboard signs. I believe we were created in God's image, and that it influences me every day as a manager at Target. For those who enter our store I am their servant because I wish to emulate Jesus in helping those around me. Many customers do not wish for my help, while others spurn it. I can only continue to try and follow his direction and know that in Chronicles 15:7 it says "But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded." The covers on her bed wouldn't stop falling off and when she went to go pick the quilt she used to cover with she bumped her head and got back in bed and when she got up she was blind and couldn't see anymore. Other than her blindness Alicia is very sarcastic and bossy, which in some ways could be bad and others very good. My favorite part of this book is when Sheila says that she doesn't want to go back to being normal and that she would rather stay the way she is. Osazuwa Osayomwanbor 200345160 Sociology/Social Studies READING SUMMARY/REFLECTION (SOC 802) Topic: Critical Sociological Theory INTRODUCTION The critical theory reading reminds me of the idea of Frankenstein's monster . This idea describes any process that sets up to destroy itself. It helps us to appreciate the links in the building blocks of any process and how those links create weaknesses that unravel the same process. As it relates to critical theory, we will see quite clearly how the theory builds up and eventually collapse as we study its evolution. I am attracted to critical theory first of all due to its links with Marxism. For me, Marxism is the exact model of what a theory should be. It describes, explains and predicts the outcome of a specific social situation. While the processes prescribed may be contestable– in fact, every idea should be contestable–, the fact that it attempts to fulfill all aspects of a theory makes Marxism the all–time great. But this reading is not about Marxism, it is about critical theory. So, what is critical theory? How is the theory applied in society? What are the major ideas that it draw from? What are the major flaws in the theory and how has the theory itself contributed to its downfall? CONCEPTUALIZING CRITICAL THEORY Critical theory is an idea that speaks to the individual desire for achieving success as defined by the individual and not the society. It lends itself more to finding out why there are paradoxes in society. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Like a trellis that helps guide plants to grow up in the direction it need to go, I want my Rule of Life to the same. With God's first two questions to humanity, "Where are you?" and "Where is your brother?" I answered by saying that I do not know. Right now, I am at a time where I feel lost and need some guidance. I grew up in a Catholic household, but I never paid attention during mass. I believed that my background was going to help me but saying that I am a catholic does not mean the same as being a catholic. Ever since then I never started to build my "spiritual trellis" that is going to help me grow and connect with God. Once I went through some of the spiritual practices, it has helped me understand and look at things in a different perspective. I began to build my "spiritual trellis" around margins, non–judging, blessing others, and encouraging others. I have not been doing the practices from my Rule of Life, but I plan to use these practices hopefully every day for the rest of my life. By doing this I would expect myself to have grown and reach the gates to the kingdom. The selected spiritual practices margin, non–judging, blessing others, and encouraging others are on my Rule of Life. On the other hand, the author also argues that it is necessary to select appropriate public areas because not all the public areas can give children advantage lessons. Based on author's observations, some parents will allow their children play in parks so they are convenient to take care of children and save money for hiring daycare. My friend Madison Smith is eighteen years old. She is five feet four inches tall and has light brown eyes. Her soft, dirty blond, wavy hair goes a few inches past her shoulders. Either way I was going to end up going to bed that night the same way, on the floor of my new house, miles away from my home. I woke with the battle of not knowing whether I was dreaming or if this was reality, and for a few short seconds before my conscious told me why I was up, I had completely forgotten the day ahead of me.
