Gun control (or firearms regulation) is the set of laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale,
transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms by civilians (Wikipedia). Some presume that this
means banning guns. In actuality, gun control only acts to protect citizens through enforcing the
appropriate use of firearms; it does not ban the weapon. By implementing stricter gun laws and
regulations, there would be a large decrease in death rates and help prevent violence in America.
For instance, the United States Constitution Second Amendment declares that everyone has the right
to bear arms . The United States Constitution was written with the intention of securing all United
States citizens basic rights. Its purpose is to outline the laws of this country by mandating the powers
of the people and what the United States government considers acceptable. Despite this, people feel
the introduction of stricter gun control laws would deny them their sense of safety by violating their
right to defend themselves by the law of the Second Amendment. By allowing everyone including
criminals the ability to gain ownership of a weapon, increases violence and death rates in America.
Therefore, stricter gun control laws and regulations should be implemented. Furthermore, many
people feel that guns are not causing the problems, people that are using these weapons are. This is

Grandeur , a poem written in 1877 by Gerard Manley Hopkins depicts the interconnection between the

line sonnet where a problem is introduced in the first eight lines and a solution to the problem in the

A main aspect of Richard s, Duke of Gloucester, personality is his hatred of women, possibly due to

Deception, as well as their relationship, is crucial to the overall plot. The character of Lady Anne has
crucial dramatic functions within the play because her character supports Richard s growing reputation

I had to search this question because I am too wondering why good people suffer and why bad people
don t seem to. I came across an article and it basically explained that our Lord clearly taught that his
blessings should fall upon all people regardless of the evil they commit. And it later explained that we
often only witness and know of the good that happen to bad people rather than the entire situation. We
don t entirely know what the person has been dealt with. For example, I sometimes question those
who don t have money problems. I always thought to myself they are so blessed to not have money

The social problem that I chose for my final paper is Poverty in America. Poverty is the general
scarcity, dearth, or the state of one who lacks a certain amount of material possessions or money. Since
the early 1800s, industrialization and immigration has brought poverty of a new kind and on a new
scale to American cities. I have chosen the topic of poverty because it is apart of my everyday life and
world. Being a city kid from New York, I see homeless and poverty filled streets to the extreme. It has
now become a normal lifestyle for millions of people to withstand. Seeing how millions of people are
constantly on the streets with a lack luster of money has connected me with these people on a strong
level. Poverty in the United States is widespread through out all 50 states. The poverty rate of the
United States as of 2014 has risen to 15%. The state with the smallest unemployment rate is North
Dakota with only 2.8%. The state with the largest was Nevada 7.8%. Approximately, 49.7 million
people are living in poverty, which makes every one in six Americans poor. Poverty in America is a lot
more common than we acknowledge; nearly half of the people in the U.S. who are poor either do not

Other symbolic attributes for a lion are strength, courage, power, royalty, dignity, authority, dominion,
justice, wisdom and ferocity which I believe are all attributes displayed by Pericles in both his
political and military career. Ancient Greek symbolism for a lion is the protector of the home and

A Reflection Of Speech
Now that day two speakers have finished their speeches, I have considered the feedback given about
my speech and compared it to other speakers in the class. I reviewed in my head what I did wrong and
went back in my mind to remember those speakers who I believed did better than me in the categories
I scored low in. We learn from each other s strengths as well as our mistakes. Accordingly, chapter ten
focuses on the beginning and ending a speech. An effective introduction gets the speaker off on the
right foot. The right foot means that the speaker has accomplished the goal of a great hook to attract
the audience s attention. A speaker s introduction is a way to make the audience feel intrigued and
want to continue listening so that he or she will feel as though what is about to be said is to benefit
them. An effective conclusion ends the speech on a strong note. The strong note is the speaker going
back to review what was previously said so that the audience can remember that information and use it
somehow in a way that the speaker intended it to be used. During my speech, I felt that greeting my
peers and informing them on what I will be speaking about, which was introducing my partner, would
be a great start for my audience to be awake and to feel included on what they will be putting their
