Idea
generationThis would have been a very basic form of the
video, using filming techniques that are common
in low budget ads, however this idea isn't good for
a number of reasons. The filming technqiues are
too simplistic and samey to have any significant
difference, it also seem to have striking
similarities to the previous ad that was made for
CityScreen by students. After watcing their
product, while it did have some strong points
worth taking some inspiration from, it also had it's
flaws that I don’t intend to repeat. Mainly it's very
similar camera shots throughout and the lack of
detail on the film in general.
3. z
Idea
generationI believe that my seconds idea had more strong points than my first idea,
I still think it wasn't any good to use because brief videos don't
neccesarily work for everyone. I believe focusing solely on certain
parts of the cinema would have also been a bad idea as it is still
important for people to get a clear understanding of what the building
looks like.
I also think that the first person perspective may be useful for certain
parts, using it a lot would look unprofessional at best and lazy at worst,
using stictly simple editing techniques is also something I won't do. While
it can be certain that many points in video will have simplistic jump cuts,
that pattern should also be broken to have a little variety.

Project
conceptThe brief mind map to
the left explains the
backbone to the
description of the
starting
proposition project that
the client provided me
with. The mind map to
the right hand side is
the idea that I've
generated after further
audience research.
5. z
Refined
ideaAfter analysing both of my ideas for the project, I believe thagt after I spoke with the client for the
second time I have an idea that is going to somewhat combine the two together. To start with I'm
going to film a full length trailer, however as a compromise I am going to film it in a way that I can
edit it down to shorter, multiple videos so that the client can choose what they want in the end. I'm
also going to use a much wider variance of shots as a concequence to this, and a full length trailer
would also likely need actors so I have also taken the liberty of reaching out to fellow students to
help me out in that regard. I'm also going to not only be showing certain parts fo the cinema in
greater detail so that people know where to go when they get there. However I will also be
including shots showing the entirety of the cinema, so that the viewer can also get a feel for the
overall aesthetic of the building, however I will still be using techniques such as time lapse because
if it's not used excessively, it can be a very effective editing technique.
In post-production I will be using a mix of simplistic and more advanced editing techniques to
create a variance in the visuals of the ad, and will collecting royalty free tracks off the internet to
mix in Premiere pro in order to create my own soundtrack.

Technical
aspectsThe mind map shown
describes some of the
technical aspects of the
ads that will need to be
covered as well as some of
the possible methods to
tackling technical issues
presented to us during
production.
7. z
Filming
techniquesA crucial aspect of my
ads will be the filming
techniques that I will
utilise throughout it,
primarily this will be
camera angles and
cinematic edits.
8. z
Idea
generationIn actuality my client has already provided a description of what they wanted for the project, and
gave me a brief specification for it, however after some research I have discovered that the brief they
provided me with is not necessarily the best suited to this advert.(which I have stated on my Wix
website under 'client') the link to the website is here: https://kierak2910.wixsite.com/mediashorts.

Client
correspondence
As described in the transcript conversations between me and Mr. Dave Taylor in the screenshots
above, I had a meeting with him on November 6th To discuss the initial stages of the project and
gain an understanding of the layout of the cinema, after doing extensive research on a target
audience that would be appropriate for the cinema and the ad, I have now met with my client for the
second time and have agreed on the shot list for production, the next step will be to organise
