In the filmmaking industry its always a great idea to make sure you show off your work well.
To do this I created an Instagram account, a website, and a showreel.

This Is my Instagram account, I chose Instagram as it’s an easy to use and popular social
media platform.

This Is my blogger page, I chose blogger as its easy to use and you can imbed videos, files
easily.
Finally I also created a business card so that I could give it to people and they’d know
where’s the best place to contact me.
2. Finally I created my showreel. A showreel is great as it’s a short montage of clips from the
filmmakers work to show you how they are as a filmmaker. My showreel is on my blog and
Instagram.

I attended a lot of talks to build my networking skills.

My first talk was with Lewis Arnold. In this talk he told us about how he went from directing
short movies to making a three-part drama with ITV through getting commotions and
building his catalogue of work. Through this talk I learned how to build my ideas, into
projects then into selling the commission to companies.

In this online seminar I listened to director Sam Mendes discus his latest film, 1917. He
talked about how the film was shot to look like one take, he talked about how they achieved
this through visual effects and camera tricks. He also talked about why he chooses to film
his movie this way, it was to immerse the viewer into the perspective of the protagonist.
Something very effective which I’d like to do with my movies.

I attended this seminar with the producer of End of the F***ing world, Dominic Buchanan.
In this this talks he mentioned how to pitch tv to producers, skills that will translate to films
too.
On the 22 of January, I attended an online careers fair, here I talked to like minded people
who cared about filmmaking, I talked to a few employers about opportunity’s to shoot
short ads, however this was cancelled due to covid.

I also attended this; however it was for graphic design and digital design and not film
making. However, it was still great as I used some of the photoshop skills I learned here for
my online portfolio.
The most recent event I’ve attended was a one held by Industrial light and magic
presentation. In this they talked about their company and their roles within it. Their
company dealt with special effects and showed us a great showreel of effects in films they
made. One role which stud out to me was dynamic FX which create environments and magic
effects, fire, water, explosions, destructions effects.
