 English is a most important Language.
 English language is a part of
communication skill.
 In the India in commonly using to Hindi
language. But English language is properly
using in during to at that time.
 Teaching English Has become equally
important as the learning language.
 English is very important in some systems-
legal, financial, educational and business in
India.
 The Term ‘Method’ is very ambiguous, and
refers to the overall plan for the orderly
presentations of language material.
 Methods tend to be primarily concerned
with teacher and student roles and
behaviors and secondarily with such
features as linguistic and subject- matter
objectives, sequencing, and materials.
 Method refers to the technique used by the
teachers to teach any particular language
to students.

 let us see the methods one by one :
 This is the oldest and traditional method
of teaching English.
 The emphasis in this method is mainly on
translation of English word, phrases, and
passages in to and from the mother
tongue of a Lerner.
 Thompson and wyatt gave three principle
on which this methods is based:
 1. Translation interprets foreign
phraseology best.
 2. the foreign phraseology is best
assimilated by the learners in the process
of interpritation.
 3. The Structure of foreign language is
best learnt when compared and contrasted
with the mother tongue.
 There are different typical techniques of this
method
 Translation of a passage
 Antonyms / synonyms
 Cognates
 Fill in the balnks
 Memorization
 Make sentence
 Composition
 Reading
 Comprehension
 questions
 This method was a reaction against the
grammar translation method .
 The method originated in France in 1901.
 The principles of this method came from
Germany And were popularized by the
international phonetic association of
France.
 This method is also known as natural
method.
 “ the direct method is a method of
teaching English Directly ; is to establish a
direct or immediate association between
experience and expression , between
English words, phrases or idioms and its
meaning”.

 The Audio- lingual Method is used to
improve communicative competence in
learners .
 This method is based on Skinner’s
Behaviorism theory , it assumed that a
human being can be trained using a
system of reinforcement.
 The Audio- lingual method was widely used
in the 1950s and 1960s and the emphasis
was not on the understanding of words .
 The Audio- Lingual method is still in use
today in different ways through blogs ,
flipped learning, YouTube and much more .
Nowadays many courses are available
online also.

 Single slot substitution drill
 Multiple slot
 Substitution drill
 Q/A drill
 Use of minimal pairs complete the
dialogues grammar games
 In this three method is expressed to
different way of teaching .but this three
method is deeply connected to each other.
 Well the grammar and translation method
is a old .but its method is a first stage of
teaching and learning English language.
 Even other two method is a new
technique is established. This two methods
is a very supporting to the first method.
 SO THIS THREE METHOD IS A COLSALY
CONNECTED . BUT IT IS A VERY
IMPORTANT PART OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE
TEACHING.

  • 3.  English is a most important Language.  English language is a part of communication skill.  In the India in commonly using to Hindi language. But English language is properly using in during to at that time.  Teaching English Has become equally important as the learning language.  English is very important in some systems- legal, financial, educational and business in India.

  • 5.  The Term ‘Method’ is very ambiguous, and refers to the overall plan for the orderly presentations of language material.  Methods tend to be primarily concerned with teacher and student roles and behaviors and secondarily with such features as linguistic and subject- matter objectives, sequencing, and materials.  Method refers to the technique used by the teachers to teach any particular language to students.

  • 7.  This is the oldest and traditional method of teaching English.  The emphasis in this method is mainly on translation of English word, phrases, and passages in to and from the mother tongue of a Lerner.  Thompson and wyatt gave three principle on which this methods is based:  1. Translation interprets foreign phraseology best.
  • 8.  2. the foreign phraseology is best assimilated by the learners in the process of interpritation.  3. The Structure of foreign language is best learnt when compared and contrasted with the mother tongue.
  • 9.  There are different typical techniques of this method  Translation of a passage  Antonyms / synonyms  Cognates  Fill in the balnks  Memorization  Make sentence  Composition  Reading  Comprehension  questions
  • 10.  This method was a reaction against the grammar translation method .  The method originated in France in 1901.  The principles of this method came from Germany And were popularized by the international phonetic association of France.  This method is also known as natural method.
  • 11.  “ the direct method is a method of teaching English Directly ; is to establish a direct or immediate association between experience and expression , between English words, phrases or idioms and its meaning”.

  • 13.  The Audio- lingual Method is used to improve communicative competence in learners .  This method is based on Skinner’s Behaviorism theory , it assumed that a human being can be trained using a system of reinforcement.  The Audio- lingual method was widely used in the 1950s and 1960s and the emphasis was not on the understanding of words .
  • 14.  The Audio- Lingual method is still in use today in different ways through blogs , flipped learning, YouTube and much more . Nowadays many courses are available online also.

  • 16.  In this three method is expressed to different way of teaching .but this three method is deeply connected to each other.  Well the grammar and translation method is a old .but its method is a first stage of teaching and learning English language.  Even other two method is a new technique is established. This two methods is a very supporting to the first method.
