The document discusses and analyzes four photographs by Julia Kennedy featuring the same model. All the images depict the model in a vintage style and convey a message about the dangers of changing oneself too much for societal ideals of beauty. Specifically, the photos suggest that excessive physical changes to meet beauty standards could go wrong and even result in death. The photos were taken from a head-on position close up or including the model's full body. They use bright shutter speeds between 1/80s and slow shutter speeds to capture more light without depth of field effects. The document praised the images' strong message and vintage yet modern styling of the model but suggested the lighting could be improved to make the photos brighter.

Theme or focus of images
All these images are of the same model and they all give off the same message but in
different ways. The style of clothing the model is wearing is quite vintage, also her hair and
makeup is done to match the look.
In the first image a woman putting lipstick on, she puts the lipstick over her lip line which
makes her look as if she has bigger lips. The colours she is wearing are all quite bright colours,
she is stood in front of a wall hat is damaged and dull. This makes what she’s wearing stand
out. The photographer has got her body in shot from the head down to her waist. The models
facial expression suggests she is annoyed or angry. The second image is he model sat on a
table in the same room as the previous image. She’s wearing a dress with a coat, gloves,
high heels and sun glasses. There are drawings on her legs that are similar to surgery markings.
Image 3, the model is wearing a brightly coloured white and green dress, sun glasses and
gloves. In one and she’s holding some dental equipment (tongs) which are holding her lips
open. The last image is showing he model lay down on a shelf with scissors, gloves, and other
surgery equipment lying around on the floor. There is blood on the flood and the way she is
lay suggests that she is dead.
All these images have quite a strong message between them. I think these images suggest
that if you try and change yourself too much to be society’s version of perfect then it could
go wrong and it can be taken too far to the point where people die.
Composition
Each image is taken in the same way; the position of the camera is head on. The first and the
third image are taken quite close up, from her head to her waist. The second and last image
had the models whole body within the frame. I think the message would get put across to
the audience whichever way he image was shot or if it was cropped or not.
Techniques used
Each of these pictures are bright, this means the shutter speed would be set a a slow speed. The camera was
probably set between 1 - 1/80s. This is because the more light in a image the slowers the shutter speed needs to
be.
No Depth of field was used.
Strengths & Weaknesses
These images have a lot of strengths, I think the message of them is great and the way the
model looks and is dressed is different to other images I have seen with is type of message.
The style of clothing is vintage but with a modern touch.

I don’t think there are any weaknesses but I would say the photographer could impove he
lighting just to make the pictures a little bit brighter.
