Beach Poem
1. I go to the beach to see the beautiful blue waves rise and fall as I hear children play in the water.
The taste of salt in the air and the smell of delicious foods linger as I sink my toes in the grainy
sand.
2. Her skin was as bright as the sun, lips red like a rose.
3a. Dreams are a fictitious world.
3b. My life is a relentless horror show.
3c. Work is success.
3d. Pain is a knife cutting into my heart.
3e. Love is a rollercoaster.
4a. Grass is free and happy as it sways in the warm sun.
4b. The ocean laughs as it crashes to shore, knocking down sand castles and splashing on people.
4c. A river flows with happiness, being one with nature.

simply state recommendations, explanations of coastal landforms etc. These sources were very
relevant because they extended my understanding of coastal management and helped in developing
reasonable strategies to keep our valuable coast landforms. The places that are being investigated for

Descriptive Essay– Beach, Vacation The place where I feel most comfortable is a place where I am
calm. A place that is peaceful in its own ways. It is the place to go to get away from all my troubles.
It is the one place where I could sit forever, and never get tired of just staring into the deepest blue I
have ever seen. It is the place where I can sit and think the best. A place where nothing matters but
what is in that little moment. The one place capable of sending my senses into an overload. This
place is the ocean. Just as I sit down on the sand my mind starts to unwind. The many spectacular
sights jump at my eyes. As far as I can see there is turquoise water in front of me. Surfers wearing

On The Beach
"On The Beach" was a very interesting film about something that had a very good possibility of
happening. This movie was about the arms race going on during the Cold War where countries kept
and advancing their technology and equipment to show how powerful they were. The story line was
about how the arms race went too far and everyone on earth died from the radiation of a nuclear war
except for the people living in Australia and American men on a submarine that end up docking in
Australia. All the people in Australia only had a few months before the radiation would impact them
and then there would be no more life on Earth. The setting was in Australia in 1964 but it was made
in 1959 so it made everyone worried that a nuclear war was going ... Show more content on

The arms race spiraled way out of proportion in the movie because it annihilated the whole planet.
Imagine if this were to actually happen in real life, what would be your plan? I wouldn't even know
what to do I would be so shocked. One big decision I would have to make is whether I would die
from the radiation or kill myself beforehand. That is a scary thought; I ever want to have to make
that decision. Many characters in the movie made the decision to commit suicide either by taking
the suicide pills or in other ways, like Julian. Julian wanted to race his car in an actual race, he was
able to do so, I thought he was going to kill himself then by crashing into something and letting
himself die doing what he wanted but he didn't. However when he did decide to die, it did involve
his car. I think it is a brave decision to kill yourself, that takes a lot of power to end your life and I
don't want to have to decide

Beach Erosion In Virginia Beach
Erosion has the ability to ruin large buildings or simply be an inconvenience to someone. Erosion
happens gradually and it happens by wind or water breaking pieces of an object. Humans are said to
have made the process faster. We are tearing trees and dirt and replace it with infrastructure. Tearing
down nature makes erosion more liable. Since we have learned how we speed up erosion and how
erosion is bad for our creations, we can use that knowledge to know how to handle those problems.
First of all, farmers or gardeners acknowledge erosion and take into consideration of how to deal
with it. When farmers or gardeners plough their plants, the topsoil can easily be eroded with wind or
run–offs. This can create problems for local streams or for the soil. People learned to use other
plants like bushes to counter wind erosion, also know as "windbreak". ... Show more content on

If any architecture is structured poorly, erosion can easily contribute with destroying it. Architects
have to design a building in a way that will be sturdy to complications like erosion. Lastly, in
Virginia Beach, shoreline erosion is a main issue that is hard to counter. A temporary way to manage
beach erosion is by "beach nourishment". Beach nourishment is replacing sand, that was lost by
erosion. It a controversial solution, but it is one of the most popular way to solve beach erosion. It is
impossible to stop erosion altogether because it is a natural occurrence. Fortunately, humans have
figured ways to handle erosion and even to use it to our advantage at times. Without erosion the
Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, and the Niagara Falls would not
exist. Erosion may be troublesome to people, but erosion was not meant for

the beach, and that they were using Richs name. Rich is alarmed: this must be Zeph and Sammy!
Some days later, Sal asks Rich to join Jed on his journeys on the island, because there are some

Jed and he start to play games, they pretend being in Vietnam while they are watching the people on

catched a dead squid and they had all eaten of it. In the camp, there had also been an argument
between Bugs and Keaty. Bugs had hit Keaty, and the others had taken the part for one of them, so
the camp is now divided in two parts. At the same time, the people on the other island are coming

Rich has to watch what's going on with the rafters. So, from now on, he's out alone all day, smoking

Dover Beach
Nature's power can be felt in our souls. Which is a perfect theme for the poem "Dover Beach". It is a
perfect theme because nature distracts you when you are at the beach. Listening to the sea is
calming, for example: " The sea is calm tonight". Which reading this quote makes you calm because
in your soul you know what a beach sounds like which is calming and relaxing. Another reason why,
nature's power can be felt in our souls, is a perfect theme is because when you are arguing with
someone listening to nature is calming but when your sad it can remind you of your argument with
that person and it can make you realize what you need to fix or how you can fix it for example:
"Listen! You hear the grating roar of pebbles which the waves draw back".

Caribbean Beach
Take a second to close your eyes and envision yourself on a beach in the Caribbean islands. You are
laying on the sand, a soft white powder that heats your body on contact. You hear the repeating
rhythm of the majestically moving waves as they collide with the shore. The brisk smell of ocean air
and the pulsing warmth of the sun wraps you in its arms like a mother swaddling her newborn. Now
open your eyes and realize how at peace you are; Nature can bring you enlightenment, it can also be
considered a religion or an oath to live by. We encounter nature in our everyday life. The cotton we
wear, the food and water we consume, and the materials of our daily routine all originate from the
earth. We cannot survive in our world without nature looking over us, providing us and influencing
our habits. Although people say we are apart from nature, we are, in fact one with nature because we
feel its presence in more ways than one.
Many argue that mankind and Nature are separate entities. Humans have altered the already existing
earth by creating a sort of utopia. The beaches are perfectly clean and would fit the criteria for an
ideal getaway but none of that is in matter of fact nature. The beaches, for example, are made in
order to create profit , therefore the image is not real. It's like coloring your hair, it can make you
look more appealing but in reality it is damaging the hair. Palm trees are planted, unnatural erosion
occurs and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though some argue that as humans we cannot be a part of nature because all we do is harm it,
the truth is that this is hypocrisy. If they continue to use and rely on natural materials daily they are
going against their word. If we can say that we do not need water or food to survive, then it is okay
to presume we are apart from Nature. Until that day comes, we might as well indulge in everything
our Earth has to offer, and allow it to fabricate us into healthy, peaceful human

Comparing Miami Beach And Virginia Beach
People are commonly seen engrossed in their cell phones and tablets instead of participating in the
world around them. This is important to note because it has become more prominent in this
generation, as well as in younger children. The use of these devices has even filtered into peoples
"relaxation time". Even though there are a multitude of benefits that accompany cellular devices,
there has been a negative correlation between cellular usage and the quality of life. For some people
the consequence can be extreme; such as people experiencing altered experiences due to the
considerable amount someone uses their cell phone. My two field studies took place in Miami
Beach, Florida and Virginia Beach, Virginia. My observations were taken in extremely different
conditions. In Miami I was observing people who seemed to be on vacation in upper 70 degree
weather during the Spring Break season in Florida, while my second observation in Virginia Beach
was taken on a windy, upper 50's, day in April. My first field study brought about many intriguing
questions, but because of the difference in weather conditions they did not pertain to my second
observation. Instead I went into my second observation open minded, hoping to find shared behavior

The Earth man lives on is ninety–seven percent ocean, but man cannot control himself when it
comes to protecting the ocean. Without the ocean the world's population would no longer have
seafood to help with nutrition, jobs as sailors and fishermen would no longer exist, beaches would
not exist for children to create memories, and the world would no longer be the same. As a young
girl I use to always go visit my aunt in Connecticut, and since I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada the
closest I got to water was the pool in my grandparents backyard, so my aunt and uncle always made
sure that while I was with them we went to the beach. Although this one particular year stands out to

In 2014, NOAA provides this report with detailed and sufficient information relating to the effects
of marine debris and the entanglement that happens to the ocean's animals. The report done by
NOAA's Marine Debris Programs gives amazing information to help argue my opinion in the future,
since it is referring to debris and animals. The information regarding the effects of marine species in
marine pollution, specifically pinnipeds is stated in the report about how many marine animals are
being entangled by the pollution humans are creating. This report provides excellent background
information with facts dating all the way back to 1983 to 2014. I believe with all these years of
research, the report helps me find other information relating to marine debris. NOAA has made is
very easy to identify who has published this report along with who was involved. NOAA being The
Nation Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration makes them quite qualified to speak on marine
pollution and they allow all contact information to be found. For the most part NOAA has done their
own research to create this report, therefore there is not any other sources. With NOAA being almost
all about marine life the administration is biased, but they provide valid information that can easily
be verified.

The Beach "The Beach" is a recent movie that has been released on videocassette. The movie starts
off with a young man traveling around the world in pursuit for a perfect society. During his journey
he visits Bangkok, Thailand where he meets a rather unstable and somewhat insane man.
Throughout their conversation, the insane man kept referring to an island of paradise. On this island,
there are beautiful waterfalls, crystal clear water, and enormous fields of marijuana. The exact
environment the young man was searching for. However, the man refused to tell the young man
where it was. The next day, the young man found a map under his door leading to the enchanted

The natives farm the marijuana fields and then take it to the mainland to sell and trade. If their island
didn't remain a secret, not only would they be out of a career, but would be sent to prison.
The young man's life was perfect now. He had found paradise. However, after time he finds out that
paradise wasn't all he had expected. They were never allowed to leave the island, fearful that
someone might tell their secret. Much of their food was gathered amongst themselves. They didn't
have extensive medical equipment. And shelter was constructed themselves out of material from the
island. Needless to say, all were still very happy in the structure of their society and their living
conditions. Until one of the people were bitten by a shark. The victim was in severe pain for weeks.
Nobody would allow a doctor to come to the island or for him to leave. His leg was bitten severely
and he needed medical attention. Eventually everybody got sick of him ruining their "paradise"
environment and took him into the woods and left him. Some were against this decision, but the
next day they were enjoying paradise once again.
Near the end of the movie, the young man's acquaintances, he had given the copy of the map to,
arrived at the island. They came upon the fields of marijuana and were gunned down by the natives.
The natives found the copy of the map and went to the small society of people. They instructed

Erosion Of Beach
As we engineer the shoreline, this is a phase that may compare to the changing or altering the nature
of the shoreline in order to keep it stabilized. The stabilization methods of shoreline range from
planting dune grass, to large seawalls using bulldozers or cranes. These methods are short term.
Erosion of beaches caused by human may be greater than nature causing. Replenishing of beaches
may consist of pumping sand back out onto the beach, or building back up sand dunes. This would
result in not enough money to replenish the beach. Only the upper part of the beach would be
covered with new sand. This would create a steep beach. Creating the steep beach would increase
the rate of erosion. With sand being pumped from the lagoon, or shelf, this

Effects Of Beach Pollution On The Beach
Beach Pollution is a socio–scientific issue that affects many beaches all over the world. Beach
pollution is where a cysteine and natural beach gets destroyed by pollution which usually include
plastic product packaging and polluted liquid such as rubbish and leachate that do not belong to the
beach so harms the environment. Beach pollution occurs in various ways such as when people throw
litter on the ground instead of in the bin and that piece of rubbish travels to the beach via the water
cycle and when people, who are already on the beach, litter making the beach look dirty and
polluted. Even when people do throw rubbish into the bin, this still can pollute the beach because

a plastic bottle). This packaging is filled with contents, stored and deposited, bought, consumed and
then thrown away. This plastic then takes the extremely long time to decompose. It started to
degrade when it is exposed to light and warmer temperature from the sun's UV radiation. Due to
this, plastic break down faster on the warmer land than the collar water in the ocean. One process
that breaks down plastic is photo–oxidation is the process where a chemical reaction uses oxygen to
break the chemical bonds of the molecules that make up the plastic. This process takes a very long
to occur which eventually make the plastic break down into microbeads which very little pieces of
plastic. This plastic in the form of microbeads are still very harmful especially to the wildlife as well
as they are hard to clean up because these pieces of plastic can be as small as than a sesame seed.
80% of the plastic litter comes from land and most of this rubbish is from the residential areas where
most of the products that are packaged in plastic are consumed or used by the people who live there.
In these residential areas most people generally throw away all their rubbish in bins and in big
rubbish bags which get picked up by the rubbish truck to be taken to the landfill. There, the rubbish
either gets dumped into big holes in the ground or get dumped into a big pile on the area of landfill.
The plastic products just sit there as the older plastics at the bottom of

On a Saturday afternoon, Carlos Muñoz, a resident of San Francisco, gazes at views of San
Francisco Bay while listening to electronic dance music at a street fair in Hunters Point. His friends
who live near the area invited him to the fair, so he brought his baby son, Maxwell. "We wanna
make sure that our kid, our baby, socializes. He sees the environment, he gets to meet new people,"
says Carlos. "You know, experience what it is like to be at a fair, see other kids, get him started

The home prices will range from the high $500,000s to the mid–$600,000s. For friends Mathieu
Busine and Mika Pejovic, who came from Australia to attend to the street fair, this presents
countless opportunities to connect with neighbors. Mika also notices "lots of families" at the fair that
could possibly equate the number of households in the Shipyard. Other amenities include two parks,
Innes Court Park and Overlook Point, and the Storehouse, a convenience store that serves both food
and craft coffee. A shuttle bus transports commuters from the Shipyard to various locations in the
city, including Downtown, the Dogpatch district, grocery stores, beaches, and parks. Carlos Muñoz
enjoys the prospect of a community with diverse amenities. "I think it's a good way to bring the
community together. And, just how I bring my kid over here, it probably helps build that community
environment you're trying to kinda instill in your kids, you know." The Launch offered the activities
that just about any street fair would offer, including food and drinks, artwork, and music. The first
500 guests to RSVP to the street fair received a voucher for free meals from food trucks. The first

The South Beach And The Beach Diet
The South Beach diet The South Beach diet originated from Miami, Florida, by an American
cardiologist called Dr. Arthur Agatston. During the diet, the South Beach diet emphasizes the
consumption of high–quality carbohydrates such as: whole–grains and fruits and high–quality fats
such as: low fat cheese and skim milk. In contrast, it eliminates dire carbohydrates such as potatoes
and dire fats such as: bacon, butter, and cream. This allows people the luxury of several high energy
foods that contain good carbohydrates and good fats, whilst eliminating cravings and keeping taste
buds satisfied. This diet has three phases. Phase 1 – is designed to stabilize your blood–sugar levels
and eliminate cravings for sugary foods and refined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you find yourself getting off track or if cravings return, you can go back to Phase 1 or 2 to
maintain your goal weight. You 'll continue to maintain your weight and healthy lifestyle for the rest
of your life (Agaston, n.d.). As a whole, the South Beach diet food selection is low in carbohydrates
and low in fat. It teaches dieters the right carbohydrates (whole grains and fruit) and right fats
(extra–virgin olive oil, canola oil and avocados) to eat. By following this diet the person will begin
to lose between 4 – 6 kilograms, within the first two (2) weeks (Phase one). The diet suggests
starting off having three balanced meals a day which can contain foods of normal serving size such
as meat, chicken, turkey, fish, vegetables, eggs, cheese and nuts. These listed foods are mainly
protein and diary based, which contain low sugars and salt. By initially eliminating all sugary
carbohydrates like cereals, grains and fruits, the body will lower blood sugar levels, and begin to
burn excess fat instead, causing weight loss. Analysis of the diet against its ability to meet the
Australian Dietary Guidelines According to the Department of Health and Ageing (2011) The
Australian Dietary Guideline (ADG) 2: "Enjoy a wide variety of nutritious foods from the five
groups every day", carbohydrates being one of the major food groups. In Phase 1, the South Beach

Beach Selected : Glenelg Beach
Beach selected: Glenelg beach
History: According to Glenelg SA (2015), Glenelg beach is only 12km from the centre of Adelaide,
Glenelg is a pleasing entertaining beach resort set amongst the sandy shores of the bay of Holdfast.
In 1836, Glenelg was the site of South Australia's original mainland settlement. Processes that affect
Glenelg Beach:
There are multiple factors that affect Glenelg beach and other Adelaide beaches.
The drift of sand that is going north is created by the winds and waves. Although, sand can move in
different wind conditions. This sand movement is also known as a littoral drift. Big quantities of
sand is eroded due to the cause of considerable damage to beach, dune and nearshore areas because
of a coastal storm. Therefore, Glenelg beach cannot be considered stable just like other Adelaide
beaches. Before the settlement of the Europeans, Glenelg beach had been withheld by costal dune
erosion. Although due to the subsequent development occurring on the top of the dunes, a
replenishment process has to be carried out artificially.
Big quantities of sand have either been put away and not used or removed from Glenelg beach due
to development on the coast. Multiple Adelaide coasts have been built upon an extensive system of
dunes on the coast or, alternatively, due to the need of providing land for housing and Adelaide
airport, dunes were used to infill backswamps of the coast. Along the Lefevre Penisula, land was
reclaimed to create the suburb of North

Beach Profiling : A Beach
Stabilized Spit
A sand spit is an extended portion of land which is right ahead of a beach generally formed by the
deposition of sediments brought by the river. As written by (Bhate, 1980) a stabilized spit is the flat
sandy plain immediately behind the narrow beach but relatively at a higher level. The major
stabilized spit seen was at Talashil 16°06'12"N, 73°27'29.6"E. This has formed by the sediment
deposited by the Gad River over many years.
Beach Profiling
Beach profiling includes recording the lateral profile of a beach at different places along the beach
and comparing this data over a range of time. As given by (Huggett, 2011), the profile of a beach is
determined by the size, shape, and composition of the beach material, the tidal ... Show more

These are formed by the abrasion of the river bed by some pebbles and the swirling action of the
water. As pebble are carried in a stream they may get stuck in small pits in the river bed. As the
water current continues to flow, it swirls the pebbles around causing more abrasion and making the
pit even wider and forming a pothole. Eventually more pebbles enter and the action continues
causing the potholes to grow I size. Very large potholes were seen in a stream at Devli 16°00'58"N,
73°30'10"E. Since the stream flows over an active fault zone, the constant upliftment of the stream
maintains its gradient and causes the water to flow faster creating larger potholes.
Landslides
Landslides are erosional processes which cause the downward movement of a rockmass under the
influence of gravity. Landslides occur when a steep sloping mass of land detaches from the rest and
starts sliding down. This is mainly due to rainwater percolating the soil and making is more plastic
thus making it easier to flow. A landslide was identified at Devli 16°00'56"N, 73°30'10"E. Here, a
portion of the hill in the background had sled down due to rainwater percolating the soil and
weakening the rock. The slide escarpment was easily identified by the concave shape of the slide
plane and the trees leaning backwards on the fallen landmasses. Surveying

Norval's Argument Essay: The Beach At The Beach
All of a sudden, Norval swooped the air cab down like an eagle. He almost skidded along a warm
crater lake where the groundwater and magma mixed to produce a psychedelic array of vivid
yellows, neon greens, and fluorescent pinks. Occasionally, sulfuric gas belched up from the bubbles
that ruptured on the crater's surface. Steam hissed through the fissures and clefts along the edge of
the crater, which had red tinges from the iron deposits. "Those colors are from sulfur and iron oxide
mainly," Norval said, revealing more of his encyclopedic knowledge of Gnaritus' geology. "There
are many colorful rainbows on Gnaritus not only in the sky but also on the land!" They reached a

A steaming waterfall tumbling down the limestone terraces fed the lake from which a stream drained
into an estuary of the Omaha River that eventually met the sea. In the sedimentary rock surrounding
the periphery of the lake were an additional ten smaller hot spring pools. Norval went past the
roundabout outside the entrance to the meditation center on the beach and then landed the air cab in
the adjoining parking lot. Stretching far to the horizon and beyond was the endless ocean. Another
building stood on top of the white limestone cliffs that hugged the coastline and soared to the
vertiginous height of a hundred meters above the beach. They reminded Surina of the White Cliffs

Dover Beach Essay
In the symbolic poem "Dover Beach" written by Matthew Arnold the main idea is that of change.
The poet uses language features and techniques such as assonance, extended metaphor and
adjectives as well as using symbolism. The effect of this is to decorate the poem and to enhance the
way the main idea of science overthrowing religion is being shown.
The poet, Matthew Arnold, uses descriptive language, language techniques and symbolism to
dramatically enhance the poem, titled 'Dover Beach'. He uses adjectives and punctuation such as
Caesura for maximum effect. In the poem the "calm" and "full" sea represents science, trying to
overthrow the flickering lights on top of the vast and mighty "English cliff" and the ... Show more

The "turbid ebb and flow" are two adjectives that show us that the tide is moving all the murky,
unclear water around and this is referring to the sea. Matthew Arnold then goes on to compare us to
Sophocles as this phrase of the poem shows "we find also" which directly links back to the extended
metaphor located in this stanza. This is a direct allusion between these two eras of Sophocles and
Arnold. In the final stanza the poet pleads with us to see that there is "nor love, nor light, nor help,
nor peace" as "ignorant armies clash by night". This effect of listing shows human impurities such as
greed for power and wealth. Arnold desperately wants the world to unite under religion and create a
better community. This is genuinely showing the theme of change. In conclusion, Matthew Arnold
has successfully shown how religion is fading and science more dominant with every passing day.
Arnold uses symbolism like the sea and the cliffs, language techniques like assonance, alliteration,
metaphor, allusion and numerous adjectives to do

Perdido Beach is like a rotten banana, nobody wants to eat it but it has other useful uses ☺. In
chapters one through thirty–six, multiple events occurred which changed Perdido Beach forever. For
example, there is now a dearth of food due to the Zekes that were found in their fields for food, Lana
tried to kill "The Darkness," Caine took control of the power plant, and there is a secret fish service
going on in Perdido Beach. The society of Perdido could use three main objects to help their
survival, a decent power source to help with their power problem, a "magical answer book" to help
with the conflict between the "moofs" (mutant freaks) and normal, and a sustainable food source for

Sam could use a "magical answer book" to help him find a solution to the conflict between the
"moofs" and the normal. Solving that problem will not be facile, but it is definitely possible with
enough motivated people that care about the kids of their hometown. To start, the "magical answer
book" could help stop the physical separation between the "moofs" and normal. One of the benefits
of having no physical separation between the "moofs" and the normal is that it would reduce the
amount of violence throughout the whole town. With the reduced amount of violence throughout
Perdido Beach, that would relieve stress from everybody living in that town, especially Sam, not
having to worry anymore if they will get hurt just because of their powers, which they cannot
control and is not their fault. To illustrate my point, "It's like anything we do now we have to be
worried about whether someone is normal or is some kind of freak" (Grant 53). Also, "Bloodred
paint on the pale stone 'Death to freaks,'" (Grant 362). Not only would it create less violence
between the kids, it would also strengthen the group as a whole, which has a surplus of advantages.
With the kids all being unified with one common goal, which could help them defend their city
against Caine or even "The Darkness" in the future. Also, the kids of Perdido Beach would become

Mold is necessary for the break down and decomposition for all of natures organic matter, which

Seepage into the basement after a heavy rainfall, accumulation from a leaky pipe, even a spill on the
carpet should be dried within 24 to 48 hours. If you've experienced a flood, remove water–damaged
carpets, bedding, and furniture if they can't be completely dried. Even everyday occurrences need
attention: don't leave wet items lying around the house, and make sure to dry the floor and walls

Hang them to dry – preferably outside or in areas with good air circulation.
3. Prevent moisture with proper ventilation. It may be that your routine activities are encouraging
the growth of mold in your home. Make sure an activity as simple as cooking dinner, taking a

A Day at the Beach
The sun's rays glisten across the water as my family and I lie on the golden sands of the beach to
relax. Seagulls and other families are scattered around us along the length of the beach. My mom,
my sister, and I lie next to each other, listening to the waves crashing against the ocean bank.
I remember the day the horrible news arrived. I stood in the kitchen waiting for my father to arrive
home from work.
Once he arrived, he and Mother sat me down and hesitated, "Your mom has been diagnosed with
breast cancer. Several things around here will be changing. They will be changing very fast due to
the aggressive treatment she will be going through."
Tears filled my eyes as I wondered, Why is this happening to my family? What will happen to my
family, and when will this be over? I sat at the table, unable to speak a single word. The emotion had
overcome me like the waves of the ocean now breaking on the shore. My father and brother are very
far out in the deep waters searching for seashells and any aquatic life swimming through the warm,
ocean waters. Back on the shore, my mother, my sister, and I are tanning and reading magazines that
we grabbed at the hotel. On the cover of the magazine in bold letters it says "SURGERY." It reminds

On The Beach Theme
In the movie, On The Beach produced by Stanley Kramer, it develops the theme how humans end
up destroying themselves. The theme indicates that during a nuclear war nobody wins. Even the
survivors that manage to survive the fallout of a nuclear war end up committing suicide rather than
dying painfully from nuclear radiation. A social situation in today's world that connects to this theme
is the conflict that we have ISIS. If ISIS manages to get nuclear weapons, the results would not
differ largely from that of the movie. In the movie, On The Beach produced by Stanley Kramer, the
theme of self destruction connects very well to the ideas in the movie. Those that live in Australia

We finished packing up our things and were on our way to Cape Canaveral. As we crossed what

It means I'm at home. I'm from Virginia Beach, and despite how far I am away from home, whether

The beach has always meant the world to me, and I couldn't imagine being someone who hasn't

sentimental value to me and whenever I go there, I do get feelings of nostalgia. I remember when
my entire family would gather at the beach, and my cousins and I would play in the waves for hours
or eat bright red watermelon as we build a fortress of a sandcastle.
Not only do I visit the beach in the summer, but I go in the fall and winter as well. Some people may
think I'm crazy for going in freezing temperatures, but I don't swim; I walk around on the beach as I
feel the cold sand against my feet. My favorite time to visit the beach in the off–season is during
hurricanes. I love looking at the 6 feet high waves crash onto the sand, and I love looking at the dark
colors of the sky and ocean together. However, the sand blowing around from the harsh winds make
it hard to admire everything all at once because the sand is almost piercing you like needles, but I

The Life Of The Beach
NOT for nothing did the Beach Boys produce all that wonderful music in the 1960s. If you have
ever visited California, you will realise pretty quickly that the state in which they grew up was what
inspired those great sounds. It is the state of the beautiful people. Everybody seems to be laidback
about life and yet most Californians are obsessed with exercise, keeping fit and keeping their looks
for as long as possible (whether it be through botox or going under the knife). Everybody, it seems,
goes out for a run. And yet, they will climb into a car to go to a shopping mall 100 yards down the
road. The climate is wonderful, and if you are able to get behind the wheel of a convertible and drive

Some of the main topics in a large number of poems are life, death, war and love. The two poems
Men in Green and Beach Burial have a similar topic of war and its effects on people. David

all joined as one, 'the sand joins them together'. It does not boast about victory but rather the irony
that no matter their race or country they all end up 'on the other front'. Again the lines 17 and 18
really emphasize that in death the countries the soldiers were fighting for are irrelevant. Although
the poem has a worldview, an Australian perspective is brought out through the 'sway and wander'
and 'waves and fades' recreation of the sea. Kenneth Slessor is presenting a less optimistic view of
the war perspective in Australia, one that does not celebrate the call to

Beach Poem

  • 1. Beach Poem 1. I go to the beach to see the beautiful blue waves rise and fall as I hear children play in the water. The taste of salt in the air and the smell of delicious foods linger as I sink my toes in the grainy sand. 4d. A house sits still, sad and lonely, dreaming of the day it can move. 4e. Stars admire their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As I can remember, there was no bias throughout any of these sources, they simply state recommendations, explanations of coastal landforms etc. These sources were very relevant because they extended my understanding of coastal management and helped in developing reasonable strategies to keep our valuable coast landforms. It is the place to go to get away from all my troubles. It is the one place where I could sit forever, and never get tired of just staring into the deepest blue I have ever seen. It is the place where I can sit and think the best. A place where nothing matters but what is in that little moment. The one place capable of sending my senses into an overload. This place is the ocean. Just as I sit down on the sand my mind starts to unwind. The many spectacular sights jump at my eyes. As far as I can see there is turquoise water in front of me. • 13. On The Beach "On The Beach" was a very interesting film about something that had a very good possibility of happening. This movie was about the arms race going on during the Cold War where countries kept and advancing their technology and equipment to show how powerful they were. The story line was about how the arms race went too far and everyone on earth died from the radiation of a nuclear war except for the people living in Australia and American men on a submarine that end up docking in Australia. All the people in Australia only had a few months before the radiation would impact them and then there would be no more life on Earth. The setting was in Australia in 1964 but it was made in 1959 so it made everyone worried that a nuclear war was going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The arms race spiraled way out of proportion in the movie because it annihilated the whole planet. Imagine if this were to actually happen in real life, what would be your plan? I wouldn't even know what to do I would be so shocked. One big decision I would have to make is whether I would die from the radiation or kill myself beforehand. That is a scary thought; I ever want to have to make that decision. Many characters in the movie made the decision to commit suicide either by taking the suicide pills or in other ways, like Julian. Julian wanted to race his car in an actual race, he was able to do so, I thought he was going to kill himself then by crashing into something and letting himself die doing what he wanted but he didn't. However when he did decide to die, it did involve his car. I think it is a brave decision to kill yourself, that takes a lot of power to end your life and I don't want to have to decide ... • 17. Beach Erosion In Virginia Beach Erosion has the ability to ruin large buildings or simply be an inconvenience to someone. Erosion happens gradually and it happens by wind or water breaking pieces of an object. Humans are said to have made the process faster. We are tearing trees and dirt and replace it with infrastructure. Tearing down nature makes erosion more liable. Since we have learned how we speed up erosion and how erosion is bad for our creations, we can use that knowledge to know how to handle those problems. First of all, farmers or gardeners acknowledge erosion and take into consideration of how to deal with it. When farmers or gardeners plough their plants, the topsoil can easily be eroded with wind or run–offs. This can create problems for local streams or for the soil. People learned to use other plants like bushes to counter wind erosion, also know as "windbreak". ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If any architecture is structured poorly, erosion can easily contribute with destroying it. Architects have to design a building in a way that will be sturdy to complications like erosion. Lastly, in Virginia Beach, shoreline erosion is a main issue that is hard to counter. A temporary way to manage beach erosion is by "beach nourishment". Beach nourishment is replacing sand, that was lost by erosion. It a controversial solution, but it is one of the most popular way to solve beach erosion. It is impossible to stop erosion altogether because it is a natural occurrence. Fortunately, humans have figured ways to handle erosion and even to use it to our advantage at times. Without erosion the Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, and the Niagara Falls would not exist. Erosion may be troublesome to people, but erosion was not meant for ... He also is addicted to video games. – Daffy Duck: the man who gives Rich the map; he had been on the beach before and had left it for some reason. After his death, he often appears in Richs daydreams. He always speaks about Vietnam, and he knows everything before it happens. – Etienne and Françoise: a french couple that Rich meets in Bangkok. When they meet again to take the rice back to the beach, Jed tells Rich that he heard two Americans talking to some german people about a map to the beach, and that they were using Richs name. Rich is alarmed: this must be Zeph and Sammy! Some days later, Sal asks Rich to join Jed on his journeys on the island, because there are some other people on the next island. Luckily, she doesn't know that Rich knows them. So Rich doesn't see his other friends anymore, because he is always out on the island, and he becomes very lonely. Jed and he start to play games, they pretend being in Vietnam while they are watching the people on the other island. One day, as they get back to the camp, everything is in a mess because Keaty had catched a dead squid and they had all eaten of it. In the camp, there had also been an argument between Bugs and Keaty. Bugs had hit Keaty, and the others had taken the part for one of them, so the camp is now divided in two parts. At the same time, the people on the other island are coming over to the beach island on a raft they had built. Jed is looking after the sick people in the camp, and Rich has to watch what's going on with the rafters. So, from now on, he's out alone all day, smoking grass and talking to his imaginary friend mister Duck. Listening to the sea is calming, for example: " The sea is calm tonight". Which reading this quote makes you calm because in your soul you know what a beach sounds like which is calming and relaxing. Another reason why, nature's power can be felt in our souls, is a perfect theme is because when you are arguing with someone listening to nature is calming but when your sad it can remind you of your argument with that person and it can make you realize what you need to fix or how you can fix it for example: "Listen! • 29. Caribbean Beach Take a second to close your eyes and envision yourself on a beach in the Caribbean islands. You are laying on the sand, a soft white powder that heats your body on contact. You hear the repeating rhythm of the majestically moving waves as they collide with the shore. The brisk smell of ocean air and the pulsing warmth of the sun wraps you in its arms like a mother swaddling her newborn. Now open your eyes and realize how at peace you are; Nature can bring you enlightenment, it can also be considered a religion or an oath to live by. We encounter nature in our everyday life. The cotton we wear, the food and water we consume, and the materials of our daily routine all originate from the earth. We cannot survive in our world without nature looking over us, providing us and influencing our habits. Although people say we are apart from nature, we are, in fact one with nature because we feel its presence in more ways than one. Many argue that mankind and Nature are separate entities. Humans have altered the already existing earth by creating a sort of utopia. The beaches are perfectly clean and would fit the criteria for an ideal getaway but none of that is in matter of fact nature. The beaches, for example, are made in order to create profit , therefore the image is not real. It's like coloring your hair, it can make you look more appealing but in reality it is damaging the hair. Palm trees are planted, unnatural erosion occurs and ... If they continue to use and rely on natural materials daily they are going against their word. • 33. Comparing Miami Beach And Virginia Beach People are commonly seen engrossed in their cell phones and tablets instead of participating in the world around them. This is important to note because it has become more prominent in this generation, as well as in younger children. The use of these devices has even filtered into peoples "relaxation time". Even though there are a multitude of benefits that accompany cellular devices, there has been a negative correlation between cellular usage and the quality of life. For some people the consequence can be extreme; such as people experiencing altered experiences due to the considerable amount someone uses their cell phone. My two field studies took place in Miami Beach, Florida and Virginia Beach, Virginia. My observations were taken in extremely different conditions. In Miami I was observing people who seemed to be on vacation in upper 70 degree weather during the Spring Break season in Florida, while my second observation in Virginia Beach was taken on a windy, upper 50's, day in April. My first field study brought about many intriguing questions, but because of the difference in weather conditions they did not pertain to my second observation. Instead I went into my second observation open minded, hoping to find shared behavior between the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many "hacks" or "tips" on the best way to protect ones phone from the wear and tear of the beach. • 37. The Day Of The Beach The Earth man lives on is ninety–seven percent ocean, but man cannot control himself when it comes to protecting the ocean. Without the ocean the world's population would no longer have seafood to help with nutrition, jobs as sailors and fishermen would no longer exist, beaches would not exist for children to create memories, and the world would no longer be the same. As a young girl I use to always go visit my aunt in Connecticut, and since I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada the closest I got to water was the pool in my grandparents backyard, so my aunt and uncle always made sure that while I was with them we went to the beach. The report done by NOAA's Marine Debris Programs gives amazing information to help argue my opinion in the future, since it is referring to debris and animals. The information regarding the effects of marine species in marine pollution, specifically pinnipeds is stated in the report about how many marine animals are being entangled by the pollution humans are creating. This report provides excellent background information with facts dating all the way back to 1983 to 2014. The stabilization methods of shoreline range from planting dune grass, to large seawalls using bulldozers or cranes. These methods are short term. Erosion of beaches caused by human may be greater than nature causing. Replenishing of beaches may consist of pumping sand back out onto the beach, or building back up sand dunes. In contrast, it eliminates dire carbohydrates such as potatoes and dire fats such as: bacon, butter, and cream. These listed foods are mainly protein and diary based, which contain low sugars and salt. By initially eliminating all sugary carbohydrates like cereals, grains and fruits, the body will lower blood sugar levels, and begin to burn excess fat instead, causing weight loss. Beach Selected : Glenelg Beach Beach selected: Glenelg beach History: According to Glenelg SA (2015), Glenelg beach is only 12km from the centre of Adelaide, Glenelg is a pleasing entertaining beach resort set amongst the sandy shores of the bay of Holdfast. In 1836, Glenelg was the site of South Australia's original mainland settlement. Processes that affect Glenelg Beach: There are multiple factors that affect Glenelg beach and other Adelaide beaches. The drift of sand that is going north is created by the winds and waves. Although, sand can move in different wind conditions. This sand movement is also known as a littoral drift. Big quantities of sand is eroded due to the cause of considerable damage to beach, dune and nearshore areas because of a coastal storm. Therefore, Glenelg beach cannot be considered stable just like other Adelaide beaches. Before the settlement of the Europeans, Glenelg beach had been withheld by costal dune erosion. Although due to the subsequent development occurring on the top of the dunes, a replenishment process has to be carried out artificially. Big quantities of sand have either been put away and not used or removed from Glenelg beach due to development on the coast. Multiple Adelaide coasts have been built upon an extensive system of dunes on the coast or, alternatively, due to the need of providing land for housing and Adelaide airport, dunes were used to infill backswamps of the coast. Eventually more pebbles enter and the action continues causing the potholes to grow I size. Very large potholes were seen in a stream at Devli 16°00'58"N, 73°30'10"E. Since the stream flows over an active fault zone, the constant upliftment of the stream maintains its gradient and causes the water to flow faster creating larger potholes. This is a direct allusion between these two eras of Sophocles and Arnold. In the final stanza the poet pleads with us to see that there is "nor love, nor light, nor help, nor peace" as "ignorant armies clash by night". In chapters one through thirty–six, multiple events occurred which changed Perdido Beach forever. For example, there is now a dearth of food due to the Zekes that were found in their fields for food, Lana tried to kill "The Darkness," Caine took control of the power plant, and there is a secret fish service going on in Perdido Beach. The society of Perdido could use three main objects to help their survival, a decent power source to help with their power problem, a "magical answer book" to help with the conflict between the "moofs" (mutant freaks) and normal, and a sustainable food source for the town. The town of Perdido Beach are use to being extremely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sam could use a "magical answer book" to help him find a solution to the conflict between the "moofs" and the normal. Solving that problem will not be facile, but it is definitely possible with enough motivated people that care about the kids of their hometown. To start, the "magical answer book" could help stop the physical separation between the "moofs" and normal. One of the benefits of having no physical separation between the "moofs" and the normal is that it would reduce the amount of violence throughout the whole town. With the reduced amount of violence throughout Perdido Beach, that would relieve stress from everybody living in that town, especially Sam, not having to worry anymore if they will get hurt just because of their powers, which they cannot control and is not their fault. To illustrate my point, "It's like anything we do now we have to be worried about whether someone is normal or is some kind of freak" (Grant 53). Also, "Bloodred paint on the pale stone 'Death to freaks,'" (Grant 362). Not only would it create less violence between the kids, it would also strengthen the group as a whole, which has a surplus of advantages. With the kids all being unified with one common goal, which could help them defend their city against Caine or even "The Darkness" in the future. Also, the kids of Perdido Beach would become more ... • 113. Hawaiian Beach Stepping out onto the beach one early morning I could hear the waves softly crash along the shore. Numerous birds nesting in the palm trees began to stir, and sing out early morning greetings. Although the sun had not yet come up, the beach was alive with surfers, like myself, preparing to some catch some waves. It was Christmas Eve, although at this Hawaiian beach it was a balmy seventy five degrees. I took in a deep breath, allowing the salty air laced with a smell of tropical flowers to fill my lungs. Wading out into the cool water, I hoped onto my board and paddled out farther from the shore to wait for the next big set of waves to come in. By this time, the sky had lightened up to a pale blue, but yet still streaked with the blackness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 117. The Condado Beach It was a beautiful day of summer and the sun shone brilliant. The air felt warm and inviting, all signs that I was going to learn an important lesson about how to live in a more passionate and gratifying way. My uncles and cousins were visiting form New York. It had been two years since I last saw them. We were all really excited that finally we were going to the beach and none of us thought of tragedy and dying. It was never a subject of conversation among teenagers because we felt invincible, immortal, and eternal, but those convictions were about to be shaken. At the age of eighteen, I nearly drowned in the Condado Beach in Puerto Rico. I had walked into the ocean that afternoon feeling relaxed and confident. But somewhere ... • 121. The Beach Mold Yes, mold is essential to the well being of our environment and without it, we would not have life saving antibiotics like penicillin that would exist and scrumptious soft cheeses like brie would not be here for us to spread on pieces of toasted french bread that compliment our favorite glass of wine. Mold is necessary for the break down and decomposition for all of natures organic matter, which helps recycle nutrients as well as gets rid of the build up of decaying matter and allows new vegetation to grow. Mold does a lot of good for our planet but unfortunately, it can also cause a lot of harm, especially if it begins to grow and spread undetected in your home. Mold spores spread effectively and can't be totally destroyed. Mold can develop ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dry wet areas immediately. Mold can't grow without moisture, so tackle wet areas right away. Seepage into the basement after a heavy rainfall, accumulation from a leaky pipe, even a spill on the carpet should be dried within 24 to 48 hours. If you've experienced a flood, remove water–damaged carpets, bedding, and furniture if they can't be completely dried. Even everyday occurrences need attention: don't leave wet items lying around the house, and make sure to dry the floor and walls after a shower. Don't leave wet clothes in the washing machine, where mold can spread quickly. Hang them to dry – preferably outside or in areas with good air circulation. 3. Prevent moisture with proper ventilation. It may be that your routine activities are encouraging the growth of mold in your home. Make sure an activity as simple as cooking dinner, taking a shower, or doing a load of laundry doesn't invite mold by providing proper ventilation in your bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, and any other high–moisture area. Your energy–efficient home may be holding moisture inside, so open a window when cooking or washing dishes or showering, or run an exhaust ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 125. A Day at the Beach The sun's rays glisten across the water as my family and I lie on the golden sands of the beach to relax. Seagulls and other families are scattered around us along the length of the beach. My mom, my sister, and I lie next to each other, listening to the waves crashing against the ocean bank. I remember the day the horrible news arrived. I stood in the kitchen waiting for my father to arrive home from work. Once he arrived, he and Mother sat me down and hesitated, "Your mom has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Several things around here will be changing. They will be changing very fast due to the aggressive treatment she will be going through." Tears filled my eyes as I wondered, Why is this happening to my family? What will happen to my family, and when will this be over? I sat at the table, unable to speak a single word. The emotion had overcome me like the waves of the ocean now breaking on the shore. My father and brother are very far out in the deep waters searching for seashells and any aquatic life swimming through the warm, ocean waters. Back on the shore, my mother, my sister, and I are tanning and reading magazines that we grabbed at the hotel. On the cover of the magazine in bold letters it says "SURGERY." It reminds me of the day Mother got her surgery. She and Father left very early that morning to drive to Apple Hill Surgical center. My parents warned us to behave and that my sister was in charge for the day. My brother and I would have to behave or we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 129. On The Beach Theme In the movie, On The Beach produced by Stanley Kramer, it develops the theme how humans end up destroying themselves. The theme indicates that during a nuclear war nobody wins. Even the survivors that manage to survive the fallout of a nuclear war end up committing suicide rather than dying painfully from nuclear radiation. A social situation in today's world that connects to this theme is the conflict that we have ISIS. If ISIS manages to get nuclear weapons, the results would not differ largely from that of the movie. In the movie, On The Beach produced by Stanley Kramer, the theme of self destruction connects very well to the ideas in the movie. • 133. The Beach Essay We finished packing up our things and were on our way to Cape Canaveral. As we crossed what seemed to be a never ending bridge, I glanced out the car window to see the cresting waves of the Atlantic. As we came closer to the ship, I noticed how massive it was. It is a wonder that a ship that weighed over 100,000 tons could float, when sometimes I struggle to stay at the surface of the water. We pulled into the parking garage where our car would be kept until the cruise ended. Carrying two bags in each hand, I followed my dad down to the security station where we would check in our bags. I opened the door and the line seemed a mile long, thankfully we got through in no time. When we got to the front we were helped by a kind old man, who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I pushed the button and waited. We hopped on and made our way to the pool deck. As the elevator door opened, there was an immediate blast of noise. It sounded like a million people were there. Rather than waiting for people to clear out, we decided to walk up to the deck with a running track and basketball court. The unyielding force of the wind almost knocked me over when we reached the top of the staircase. After we completed a lap around the track I heard a voice over the ship's intercom, "The ship will be departing in 5 minutes," said the announcer. We rushed to a railing so we could wave to the people on land as we departed. I let out a long sigh and told myself this is going to be a long three days. I hope I don't get seasick. We heard a loud roar as the engines fired up. I glanced over the ship's railing to see the gargantuan waves rippling through the water. As we got farther away from the shore, everything seemed to decrease in size. After marveling at the beautiful ocean for a couple of minutes, we got bored and left the railing. We found a few open chairs and layed in the sun. I felt the rays of the sun beating down on me, and boy did it feel good. After a short while I fell right asleep. I woke up to a burning sessationall over my body. I was sunburnt on my entire body. As I stood up I felt my tender skin scratch against the chair. • 137. Miami Beach The beautiful musical trio of waves crashing onto the perfectly golden dipped shore, seagulls cawing as they fly away to identify their next prey, and the shrills of children create a symphony for my ears. Whenever I am laying on the beach, I feel so serene; I feel as if I have no worries in the world. The beach is my sanctuary. It means I'm at home. I'm from Virginia Beach, and despite how far I am away from home, whether I'm on Miami Beach or just a beach off of a lake, the beach gives off a domestic feeling. When I spent a week away from home in July at a summer camp on a lake, I didn't have any contact with my family at all. It was tough to be far away from home for what had seemed like a long time; however, the music blaring from the enormous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I feel so happy and warm laying on the beach because it just radiates positivity. I constantly look around and see such bright, radiant colors of beach umbrellas, and you can hear children's laughter as they boogie board the beautiful blue waves back to shore. The beach is just a little getaway, and for me, it's like therapy. The beach has always meant the world to me, and I couldn't imagine being someone who hasn't even seen the ocean. Virginia Beach is all I've ever known since I was born. The beach has such a sentimental value to me and whenever I go there, I do get feelings of nostalgia. I remember when my entire family would gather at the beach, and my cousins and I would play in the waves for hours or eat bright red watermelon as we build a fortress of a sandcastle. Not only do I visit the beach in the summer, but I go in the fall and winter as well. Some people may think I'm crazy for going in freezing temperatures, but I don't swim; I walk around on the beach as I feel the cold sand against my feet. My favorite time to visit the beach in the off–season is during hurricanes. I love looking at the 6 feet high waves crash onto the sand, and I love looking at the dark colors of the sky and ocean together. However, the sand blowing around from the harsh winds make it hard to admire everything all at once because the sand is almost piercing you like needles, but I feel like it's such a great experience ... • 141. California Beach On a warm summer morning, my mother decided that it was time to go to the beach. My whole family, including my dog, piled into the car and we set off to the beach. The car ride was about thirty minutes to the california coast. The ride was fairly pleasant and short. I could feel the excitement radiating off of my mother. As we approached the ocean, the smell of salt became more prominent. It took about ten minutes to find a parking stop because California traffic is crazy. When we found a parking spot we jumped out and made our way to the water. The ocean was blocked by by trees, so I couldn't see the water. I was able to smell it though. • 145. The Life Of The Beach NOT for nothing did the Beach Boys produce all that wonderful music in the 1960s. If you have ever visited California, you will realise pretty quickly that the state in which they grew up was what inspired those great sounds. It is the state of the beautiful people. Everybody seems to be laidback about life and yet most Californians are obsessed with exercise, keeping fit and keeping their looks for as long as possible (whether it be through botox or going under the knife). Everybody, it seems, goes out for a run. And yet, they will climb into a car to go to a shopping mall 100 yards down the road. The climate is wonderful, and if you are able to get behind the wheel of a convertible and drive along the Pacific Coast Highway with Barbara Ann, I Can Hear Music, Sloop John B or Surfin ' Safari blaring and the stunning views of the ocean at hand then you will be able to die happy. It was on my bucket list and I have done it. There is nothing to beat it. I have also played golf in California and I 've got to tell you that it is something you have to experience. There is very little rain in this part of the world but it is the greenest state in America, with everybody who lives there into recycling and conserving water and energy. To keep their greens and fairways in perfect condition, most of the golf courses use either reconstituted water or water that has gone through a desalienation plant. And they do a great job, too. Course architects also use a resilient blend of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is the place where we can sit and think the best. A place where nothing matters but what is in that little moment. This place is called the beach. A trip to the beach can be successful if you make the right preparations and find activities to do during the day and night. The beach can be a fun adventure, but there are a lot of preparations that must be made. First, we must make sure the car is in working order with a full tank of gas. Second, we should make the reservations and have appropriate directions or G.P.S on hand. The morning of, we make sure we have everything including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 153. Beach Burial Some of the main topics in a large number of poems are life, death, war and love. The two poems Men in Green and Beach Burial have a similar topic of war and its effects on people. David Campbells Men in Green is about a group of Australian soldiers experiencing war in Papua New Guinea while Kenneth Slessor's Beach Burial is about the loss of life through war regardless of what side you are fighting for. Men in Green's form is a dramatic monologue whereas the structure of Beach Burial is an elegy. Similes are used frequently in Men in Green and Beach Burial regularly uses onomatopoeia and the language gets harsher as the poem goes on. The poem is written to represent all soldiers, regardless of allegiance, and shows that in death we are all joined as one, 'the sand joins them together'. It does not boast about victory but rather the irony that no matter their race or country they all end up 'on the other front'. Again the lines 17 and 18 really emphasize that in death the countries the soldiers were fighting for are irrelevant. Although the poem has a worldview, an Australian perspective is brought out through the 'sway and wander' and 'waves and fades' recreation of the sea.
