Fan Violence During A Soccer Match
One of the most reoccurring problem during a soccer match is fan violence. There have been matches were the players from a team and/or the fans
have gotten injured because of the misconduct presented among fans. Throwing stuff to other fans or players and starting fights are stuff that people
will most likely see if they attend soccer matches. This is especially shown when the two teams playing against each other are considered rivals in
soccer. The people affected when this happens are the soccer fans and sometimes the players. What causes most of these problems during a match, is
when fans are not happy about the score or when they think that there has been an error during the game. Typically, when a team is losing their fans

Supply Chain Design–Riordan Manufacturing
Every organization has their own manufacturing strategy, depending on the type of organization will depend on the strategy to have the best end result.
Understanding the strategies and how they are used can help the manufacturing process. Riordan manufacturing is a Fortune 1000 organization which
produces multiple products, throughout this paper Team C will explain Riordan's manufacturing strategy and the details that go into a manufacturing
strategy.
Riordan's Manufacturing Strategy There are three different types of manufacturing strategies that an organization can utilize, which include the Chase

Having strong production projections is what allows Riordan to utilize the Combination Strategy.
Performance Metrics Performance metrics are tools that businesses can use to determine the efficiency of production. There are various types of
performance metrics that a company can use; however in evaluating the performance of Riordan's electric fan supply chains the two most relevant
metrics would be the productivity metric and the efficiency metric. "Productivity is the ratio of output to input" (Jacobs & Chase, 2011 pg. 117). This
metric is useful to Riordan because the company can determine the ratio of the dollar value of the output and dividing it by the cost of the inputs.
This ratio helps the company to determine if the they are spending more in labor and parts then they are generating in sales. For an organization in
which generating sales is the primary goal, this is an important ratio to know. The productivity ratio determines whether or not the company is
generating as much of a profit as it should or if too much money is being spent in order to make money. The second metric that is beneficial to
Riordan is the Efficiency Metric. This metric "is a ratio of the actual output of a process relative to some standard" (Jacobs & Chase, 2011 pg. 117).
This metric is beneficial in determining if

Fandom: Community, Culture, Community And Culture
Fandom, both as a community and a culture is interpretative. The term interpretative community was rooted from a literary theorist named Stanley
Fish. He established this notion in his book "Is There a Text in this Class?" (1980), believing that the reader holds a core position both in shaping and
producing the meaning of literary works where according to him, reader's experiences affects their interpretation of a text. In his study, Fish (1980)
divided the act of reading texts into two (2) categories in accordance with the reading strategies of the reader enabling him/her to interpret the text and
define it. First, the same reader interprets different text differently. Second, different readers may interpret the same text similarly.... Show more content

These instances assessed Myc Wiatrowski of Indiana University in his essay "The Dynamics of a Fandom: Exploring Fan Communities in the online
space." Wiatrowski discussed that the fans became a well connected 'global village' (McLuhan 1962, 36) in terms of worldwide contact because of the
information age. In Wiatrowski's essay, he argued that the formation of fandom in the 'global village' is not merely an expression of communal identity,
rather, a group performance constructing the community in terms of ideology and emotions. Wiatrowski asserted that there has been increased
participation in the virtual modes of community's imagination, formation, and maintenance from the physical sphere of fandom through the 'global

Stereotypes Of Fans: Pop Culture
In order to build a social ecosystem with an organic community of fans, we have to identify the target audience, and their behaviors, affinities, and
values. Whether it is film or music, the Buffs are the hardcore fans who constantly consume content about their favorite idols. They are experts not
only of the specific idols, but also with the passion point. (i.e. music, film, or culture) They are one of the first people to know news about their
favorite idols. They already follow their favorite idols on social media. They will go the extra mile for an opportunity to interact with the celebrities.

They might follow some idols in social, but they would rather follow news or gossip channels to keep up with current events. While they are
interested in special events, the presence of their favorite idols is not the deciding factor. eFanswer will be the target's trusted source of knowledge in
social media. Utilizing best practices and tapping into the emotional connections between idols and fans in social content, eFanswers can reach a
variety of different demographics on a per–platform level. Facebook is the primary source of information. Facebook will serve as a central hub for
everyone who enjoys content in these passion points. This platform will be home to sharable content that will both intrigue new fans and attract
existing fans of idols and eFanswer. Timing is everything with Twitter. We will both originate and join conversations around current events and trending
topics (ex. #IceBucketChallenge). When possible, we will insert eFanswer into the conversation with a custom graphic. Twitter will be used to propel

Ethnography of Basketball Fan Culture
Ethnography of Basketball Fan Culture Part 1 – Introduction As a basketball fanatic, I choose to investigate how fan culture surrounding basketball has
grown and has become such a fan–oriented league. Basketball has expanded and has become a global phenomenon allowing fans to interact with
athletes and change the way fans watch basketball through social media. Being a basketball fan where you could only watch your favorite teams
games on television and listen on the radio to now being able to stream live games online with your laptop, phone, tablet, etc. There was a time
players could only show their personalities by interviews and newspaper but with social media exposure, fans get to see their favorite basketball in
another way from just seeing them on the court. In a way, fans feel more attached to a player having to interact with a certain player on Twitter,
Facebook, Instagram rather then just reading about them, they get a first hand experience.
Part 2 – Review Of Literature NBA fan culture and its interactions with players have revolutionized the league over the years. Fans only had the
ability to either watch on TV or go see the game but now with Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts, there's a whole new way for fans to interact
with athletes and stay connected. A paradigm shift has taken place in the American culture where fans feel a need for instant gratification. Social media
now allows fans to fill their need without needing

Describe and Analyse a Subculture with Which You Are Familiar
Describe and analyse a subculture with which you are familiar.
The definition of a subculture is a culture within a culture where a group develops distinctive norms and values that are different from those of the
mainstream culture.
The subculture that I will be writing about is called the Fan Base which is also know as the Fandom.
A fan base or fandom is a group of regular supporters and enthusiasts that spend a rather large amount of time and energy focussing on a team,
musician or musical group, entertainer or any other celebrity; these different people/groups can be classed as sort of a leader or main person that holds
the group together.
Fan bases do not majorly differ from mainstream cultures when it comes to values ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, for many fan bases there are expectations for each fan to have some form of social networking account so then they can communicate with other
fans. Websites such as Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr would be the main examples of ways to communicate between fans. For music based fandoms,
there is the expectation of having to be at concerts, signings, radio tours and any other events that the musician/band they follow attend.
For fan bases there is not necessarily a method for learning the groups 'rules' or norms as you become part of a fan base by simply having
something common with another fan, so liking the same band or television show, having the same dedication toward a team or band and so on. This
means that you are automatically accepted as part of the group, however a lot of fans get agitated when fans that are part of their fandom decide to
'move fandoms' as they see it as a sort of betrayal to their 'leader', this can lead to unruly behaviour and many arguments within the fan base itself.
This kind of subculture emerged originally in the 1960s when pop music first arrived on the scene. It was during a time when teenagers wanted to
rebel against the system or just wanted be different to everyone else and this kind of music allowed them to do so. The first fan bases came about
because of groups like The Rolling Stones and the Beatles, these particular groups especially had an impact on mainstream culture as many teenagers

Texas A&M Kingsville Should Provide Ceiling Fans to...
Texas A&M University Kingsville should provide ceiling fans to different areas of the school Description of Problem: The proposal is that most
school areas including Texas A&M University Kingsville should provide fans in every part or unit of the school which includes the classrooms and
your room areas. Fans are used mainly for creating a current of air or breeze, especially a machine using an electric motor to rotate and in order to
move air that is used for cooling the area. The problem of the proposal leading to making a change in convincing the school to provide fans in different
areas can come in many different ways. There are several problems that I want to discuss that leads to schools providing fans to different areas. It
includes that without fans in the school area it can affect your health status, it can lead to dehydration in which your body loses more water than it
takes in and it can also lead to death. The first problem of the fans not being provided to different parts of the school area is that it can lead to affecting
your health. In general, a fan helps to cool the surrounding when people are inside their rooms during the day. When there is no presence of fan, most
people would sweat and in a hot area with no cold atmosphere coming in through it could lead to suffocation due to the presence of much heat.
The second problem is that it can lead to dehydration. In this aspect where a place or a surrounding is hot you would sweat. This will

Descriptive Essay About One Direction
In the music industry, they usually form the typical music group or boy band that can sing, dance, and are exceptional looking that appeal to teenage
girls. In this case it was no exception. Nevertheless, that didn't matter, as millions of girls would line up the streets just to see a glimpse of them. The
band that I'm talking about is One Direction. They are an English–Irish pop boy band originated from London, England. The band has gained millions
upon millions of dedicated and loyal fans over their music careers. This profile will be centered on Directioners (Fan base nickname) who are viewed as
crazy or a mob of hysteria teenage hormones. Furthermore, the effects of what causes these kind of emotions towards the band.
I first recognize One Direction when I saw a promo for their album on tv and decided to check it out. I was intrigued by them and told my younger
sister about them, which turned out to be a mistake on my part, considering, she soon became their number one fan. She bought their album and started
listening to them twenty four–seven, repeating the song "What make you beautiful" over and over again. Then she bought T–shirts, bracelets, and
magazines just to get the posters that had the band on them. Pretty much anything that was their merchandise she would convince our parents to buy it
for her. I have never seen her like this before and perceive that she became obsessed with them.

Music And Its Effects On The Digital Age
Billy Joel, Nickelback, Fifty Shades of Grey and Other Causalities of Schlock
Music Professor explores the social dynamic of taste–shaming in the digital age.
In some form or another, we've all been exposed to musical taste shaming.
If you're a fan of the Eagles, Rush, Drake, or god help your soul, are passionate about the music of Nickelback, you've certainly received your share of
barbs. As agents in what many have coined as "the age of hipsterism," none of us are safe from the smug judgment of those who perceive their own
musical tastes as a cut–above the rest of us rubes.
Of course, hipsterism is just another term for yet another "age" that mimics the same social and cultural elitist behaviours that have been occurring
for centuries. Pomposity has always existed and generally speaking, it is a personality trait of someone who is lacking a degree of authentic social
awareness. I mean, surely we can agree that it's myopic to judge someone's character based on their musical preferences!
Although taste shaming is nothing new, shaming in today's digital world can have more profound consequences than ever before. Through social
media accounts, we're prompted to express ourselves through vapid "must–complete" field templates. For most of these platforms, they ask us to list
our favourite shows, movies and of course, music. This exposed information provides cyber–bullies with a public venue to judge and lampoon us based
on our cultural palates. This makes us more

: Production Plan for Riordan Manufacturing

The research uses Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. intranet information. This paper will present a complete production plan for two of the Riordan
Manufacturing Inc. locations: Hangzhou, China and Pontiac, MI. Riordan's plant in Hangzhou, China specializes in the plastic fan blades and fan
housings, and the Pontiac, Michigan location provides the customized look and design of the fans. The research of Riordan's China plant exposed

This move from Hangzhou to MI allows customization without disrupting the flow of material and allowing customers in North America to customize
their products. The custom designs will incorporate standard fastening details, which are common to Riordan fans. Standardized parts would save the
company money through volume discounts and would eliminate waste from excess inventory of different fasteners. Once the customer decides to
purchase a significant quantity of fans, Hangzhou will start the production process in China where polymer is more abundant and labor is less expensive.
New Logistics Process Although Riordan has used a few different companies for its shipping needs, the company will benefit by taking a different
approach, which will increase operational efficiency and competitive advantage. Certainly one area of concern is the less than optimal on–time delivery
performance average of 93%, which affects negatively on the Riordan brand and customer satisfaction. Riordan will outsource its logistical
requirements to the most qualified marketing partners. "Outsourcing is the act of moving some of a firm's internal activities and decision
responsibilities to outside providers." Riordan will maintain its core competencies in–house, including the intellectual property of manufacturing high
performance fans and outsource other logistical "non–proprietary" standardized processes.

Sports Fanaticism In Sports
Sports fans, also called sports devotees, followers, or supporters, devote themselves to a particular athlete, organization or sport. They may show their
enthusiasm by often attending sporting events or watch on television, being members of a fan club, follow athletic news through newspapers, online
websites, and create fanzines. They show a certain behavior towards an organization. These behaviors manifest in different ways and show in different
types of sports fans. Even though sports fanaticism exists on a spectrum, some forms stick out more than others. Individual types that stick out include
the bandwagon, the coach, the trash talker, the blind follower, and the statistician. The bandwagon, the person that sells into the hype of a club. Every
sport holds its fair share of bandwagons. Bandwagons only know the popular players on the roster and only watch their team when it is a popular game.
Their squad usually never has a losing season and tend to win the championship each year. If a player they like switches to a different organization in
the postseason, the bandwagon suddenly supports that organization. When the bandwagon's team wins, they refer to their side as "we" and calls their
side "them" when they lose. Furthermore, if the bandwagon goes to a game and their team loses, the bandwagon leaves before the game ends and does
not talk about the game.

Comic Cons: Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature
Introduction
Comic Cons are conventions targeting a fan base of comic book, science fiction and fantasy literature enthusiasts. Cons, as they're known by loyal fans,
contain elements of a trade show and have grown in popularity since their inception in the early 1970s. In the beginning, comic book conventions and
science fiction conventions, for the most part, remained independent of one another. In the last decade, however, they've fused to form international
mega–conventions, in which crowds in the hundreds of thousands flock to a single event. What started out as a collector's paradise, drawing masses
looking to buy, sell and trade their most prized possessions with like–minded individuals, Cons have turned into trendy, pop–culture meccas and
redefined how society looks at nerds.
The first Comic Con, San Diego's Golden State Comic Con, was held in 1970 in the basement of the U.S. Grant Hotel and attracted a humble 300
visitors (Hanks, 2012). A modest beginning to one of the most profitable industries of today. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Hollywood released
several movies spawned by the comic book and science fiction industry. Although this wasn't a new concept (Christopher Reeve'sSuperman was one of
the most popular and cherished characters of the 20th century), the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Spiderman and X–Men franchises shined a new light on
these characters and, in turn, increased the popularity of their comic book and sci–fi origins (DiSalvo, 2014). Comic

In order to be able to meet their needs, Riordan may look to another business to provide the additional motors needed for their forecasted fan orders.
Based on their past experiences, Riordan may need to consider looking for another company to purchase their motors from in order to foster a
make–to–stock operation. This allows for a forecasting of potential sales based on an average of the past three year's sales and projecting that for
the future year sales. This may help in creating a more competitive market for manufacturing and delivery of their product. Another consideration
would be for the plant to carry additional stock on hand in order to satisfy any unexpected peaks in orders. At present, they do not stock fan expects
for a small amount which would cover any warranty issues, however they depend on their supplier to have them readily available. Since they
currently stock the plastic polymer which is used in the electric fans, they may choose to reduce that particular stock item and replace it with the most
common type of motor. This could result in a cost savings and would indeed help them ensure that they are better prepared to provide their customers
with the best possible service and product delivery. Conclusion Riordan Manufacturing needs to meet the demands of their clients. They will need to
work on the safety stock to have inventory on hand and ready to ship for their

Characteristics Of The Sanguine
The word sanguine is originated from old French Sanguine, from Latin Sanguineus meaning 'of blood' or 'bloody' and Sanguis meaning 'blood'.
According to the medieval physiology, the sanguine characters, like cheerfulness, optimism, hopefulness etc are reflection of excess of blood as one of
the four body humors. Sanguine describes the personality of an individual with the temperament related to blood, the spring weather (wet and hot), and
the element of air. The sanguine individual suddenly gets excited by whatever affects him with immediate reaction, but it is not too deep and the
impression doesn't last long. Some chief characteristics of the Sanguine Temperament are, Diplomatic– While talking, the sanguines usually use very
pleasing words; they speak in a way that avoids offending others. This character makes them much friendly and pleasing to talk with. Still, at times they
may hurt the feeling of others through their direct and frank words i.e. something 'bitter–truth'. But, actually they do not intend to offend; rather it is
due to their open–hearted nature. Enthusiastic– Sanguines are too enthusiastic, almost over everything. By nature, they are too curious and always want

The Coach Research Paper
Sports are a form of entertainment, whether it is playing them or watching them. Yet part of the entertainment is also the audience. The fans can have
a large impact on the game itself as well as your experience. We all have that one friend who is way too competitive, whether it involves sports or just
who finishes eating first. They cannot choose what things to be competitive at, for that nature is in their blood. "The Coach" is the most competitive
player – out of the fans. In a game, you will scarcely, see them sit down, and they are so competitive that they act as if they are actually playing the
game. They could be sitting as high as the nosebleed seats and shouting at the players, telling them what to do, as if the players could somehow hear
them. Yet they are being obnoxious to the people around them, for, unfortunately, they can hear them quite clearly. Coaches are essentially the
"backseat drivers" of sports. The next "fan" we have is the complete opposite of a Coach, hence the quotation marks. Phonies come for the
experience, not for the game. Phonies often come wearing all of the team's gear, yet it is all for the aesthetics and for the sports façade. You may
think that the game is on their phone because that is what they'll spend most of their time watching. Unlike the Coach, others will not notice or pay
much attention to Phonies, yet you will know they were there because it will be posted on social media or other public accounts. Coaches tend to be
stubborn and close–minded, so not much bothers them. Except for the Rookie. Rookies are the bane of Coaches. Unlike Phonies, they are genuinely
interested in the game. Unfortunately, they know little to nothing about the sport, and the people to suffer are the ones like Coaches. They are
constantly asking questions about how it works and what's going on in the game, preventing others from fully enjoying and experiencing the game.
Unlike Coaches, Rookies do not bother the rest of the fans, but only the ones they are close with. One good thing about Rookies is that they are
honest. Followers also are not completely familiar with the game, yet they try to be discreet about it. They go with the flow of the crowd, yet you

Player Shirking: A Case Study
Like Berri and Krautmann, I do not believe that a player shirks after signing a long–term contact, even though they receive guaranteed income and job
security. One of the biggest reasons why I believe shirking does not arise is because team contracts often contain various performance dependent
compensation that serves as additional income if the player meets expectations. Therefore, this additional contingent income can be seen as the
opportunity cost of shirking because if a player shirks, the dip in productivity may prevent them from meeting these contract clauses and they will end
up relinquishing these extra earnings. For example, New Orleans Pelican star Anthony Davis signed a maximum contract valued at $145 million in
2015 which contained a clause that required Davis to either be named the NBA MVP, be named an all–star starter, or make any of ... Show more content

If a player performs at a level that a team's front office believes warrants a lucrative long–term contract, then these expectations will carry forward to
the next season. However, if the player decides to shirk and decrease effort, they may receive heavy backlash from both the media and the fans. Media
attention may further lead to productivity decreases as it may lead to an off–court distraction that the player always has to deal with. As for the fans,
the player may constantly experience jeering whether it be on the court or an off the court encounter due to their regression and lack of effort, which
will obviously not sit well with fans. The criticism experienced by the player who decides to shirk can have an adverse effect on his utility because
they are constantly under scrutiny and condemned by fans for not living up to expectations. Thus, a rational utility maximizing individual would
benefit from not shirking after signing a long–term contract as the response from the media and the fan base may reduce his

means to be a fan – the mixture of reverence for their object of affection, but also the embarrassment of being associated with what some might deem
as "crazy" or "superficial." The definition of "fan" has altered over time, with it becoming increasingly negative. Many fans even shy away from calling
themselves that, or separate their fandom identity (often found online) with their real life identity. While much has been written in the beginning of

Qualitative Research Results And Discussion
Chapter 5 – Qualitative research results and discussion
To analyse the objectives of this study further, interview questions were ready for opinion leaders, which include journalists, staffs of the management
team and PR practitioners. Only key sentences or words of discussion were chosen due to the word limitation, the full–translated transcripts are
attached at Appendix B. The findings of interview have three parts, which related to the three research questions.
A: For the question of the impact of opinion leaders on Weibo, the viewpoints from interviewees all admitted the leading roles of opinion leaders, but
their influences are limited.
1)Most interviewees agreed opinion leaders have the influence on fans, but they pointed out the impact has limitations.
Anonymous manager: 'Opinion leaders have the impacts on fans communities, but the impact has the limitations.'
Gu Yue: 'Of course they have some impacts on their areas [...] (but) it is easier for them to guide followers to do something more than change the
other's opinion.'
Yang Juntao: 'Opinion leaders have the ability to influence or even change followers' opinions.'
Anonymous PR practitioner: 'Opinion leaders generally control the directions of discourse in fan groups', 'but different opinion leaders have their own
position'
Yang Jie: 'The impacts of opinion leaders are not constant.'

potential of building an NFL ready stadium, a dome stadium of this capacity of 65,000 seats, give or take, it could have an enormous economic impact

Uh, the idea that David Beckham brought up about bringing Mantris United here for a potential week with their, you know, plane loads of

Well, Las Vegashas a great reputation, as far as being a tourist center, but Las Vegas has morphed into something different. It used to be when I came

Personal Narrative Essay 'Asha'
Asha
He never calls me by my name; it's always "woman" or, on especially bad days, "pig". When he isn't listening, I whisper "Asha" so I don't forget it.
The little act of defiance gives me a drop of hope. When I was 15, I was given an arranged marriage to a 32–year–old fan maker named Abd
Al–Rashid. My family anticipated that now I was liberated from the poverty–stricken life that had plagued us for centuries. I felt anything but liberated.
Tension gripped my stomach as the day crept closer and eventually it came. It was the day that I would leave my family and everything I had grown
to love. My mother was in a frenzy as she tried to embellish my overdone hair with snowy wildflowers and a shimmering hijab. She finished by clothing

I quickly ran to the fountain, my heart beating out of my chest. The fountain was quaintly sitting under a brilliant sky dotted with stars. I peered into

I had received a hit by a burning frying pan when I overslept a few days back. The American came out of the shadows, he introduced himself as
Jack Whitman. He said he was apart of an American organization that was helping and relocating abused Muslim women. He said he could take me
to America. I nodded my agreement, but couldn't stop the tears of joy. We drove a few hours to a safe house. Many other women were there. Some
with a few bruises, and others missing eyes. We all had similar homes, and none of us could go back. Jack took us to a plane, and said we would land in
America. There were refugee homes prepared for us. I asked if he'd come with us, but he said many more women needed his help. I hugged him and
gave him the money I'd taken from the cash register. No amount of money could repay him. The plane was small, but everyone got acquainted. We

One Direction: A Victim Of Stereotypes
What are you listening to? One Direction? What are you, 12?
I can't even begin to tell you how many times people have given me judgemental expressions when they found out that I like the band One Direction.
Being in a fandom which is dominated by younger female fans does bring a lot of judgement upon oneself. If you don't know what I'm talking about,
One Direction fans have been deemed by society 'desperate hormonal teenage girls without a good taste in music'.
Yes,the band does have a huge following of young females. Yes, most of the fans are between the ages of 12–16. Yes, some fans have done
comparatively crazy things in order to get closer to the band ... However does anyone realise that the whole fandom is not made up of these young
daredevils?

Most grow out of it, some sooner than others. We should be allowed to like and support something that brings us happiness without being judged or
labelled because of it!
That was the story of how I was a victim of stereotyping, but I would also like to elaborate on another stereotype, one that withers my faith in humanity
bit by bit: that people with a fairly high amount of tattoos or piercings are labelled uneducated and unprofessional.
Before anything let me just ask you how a person's choice of getting a tattoo or a piercing affects their level of intelligence? Majority consider that
having a tattoo basically proves bad judgement and a low intelligence level. I for one have never heard the fact that getting tattoos or piercings
magically hinders a person's learning capability!
Opportunities should not be hindered just because they have inked themselves. Many CEO's of successful businesses nowadays have tattoos, some
professors have inked themselves; even with tattoos these people have excelled in their field of

The Dark Side Of Enthusiasm
The Dark Side of Enthusiasm Most often, enthusiasm is word of positive connotations, describing one's passion for something. The Oxford English
Dictionary defined it as "intense and eager enjoyment, interest, or approval". However, in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, we begin to doubt this
positivity of enthusiasm, and question the daunting natures of extreme enthusiasm. As we track the word enthusiasm and its derivatives, there appear
to be a trend in which the meanings develop; enthusiasm no longer only holds its popular definition. By following this word throughout the novel,
we can see its deterioration as the plot progresses, as it's passed on to different characters, and as it's associated with different words. The first three
appearances of enthusiasm are in Walton's letters to his sister. "I feel my heart glow with an enthusiasm which elevates me to heaven," Walton says,
"for nothing contributes so much to tranquilize the mind as a steady purpose" (6); being in the middle of nowhere among merciless ice and lifeless
landscape, Walton's enthusiastic determination and clear purpose in his scientific endeavor is the life force that keeps him sane and strong. It is almost
a requirement in order to survive in a lonely scientific journey, closely paralleled by Frankenstein's study. These associations of enthusiasm with passion
for learning and discovery continued in the first two chapters after Frankenstein takes over the narrative. The word showed up once in the beginning of

The fan motors in inventory will create an efficient development process that does not overlap phases. "To improve the effectiveness of overlapping,
the upstream activity should make solutions 'downstream–friendly', reducing meaningless changes, and quickening engineering cycles. The

Just A Normal Football Fan
Just a Normal Football Fan There is a variety of professional sports in the world today. People from all over have come to enjoy watching athletes
compete. The fans of these sports all love, cheer and support their respected teams. Even so, there is diversity among sports fans. Sports fans usually
exhibit distinct behaviors that separate them from others. By examining the behaviors of a sports fan, a person can categorize the different types of fans.
Football fans can be classified into the following categories, the Bandwangoners, the Agents, the Coaches, the Followers, the Teachers, and the
Opportunists. The Bandwagoners are sports fans who will pick a team and drop them in an instant. A Bandwagoner will cling to a sports team that
has recently won a big game or several in a row or even won a championship. In fact, the person probably became a fan of the team just a couple of
days ago. The Bandwagoner claims to know most of the players on the team and their positions, when in fact he or she usually knows on one or two
of the players. These fans have all the sudden become diehard fans of the team and support the team one–hundred percent. They are so committed to
the team that once the team loses they "jump ship" and go looking for the next hot team that is apparently championship bound. The Bandwagon fan is
one that does not get shackled down by commitment and is always a fan of the that is on top. The Agent, aka. the player

The Great Awakening During The British Colonies
The First Great Awakening in the British Colonies found its way across the Atlantic Ocean from Europe around 1730
–1740s, and it had a profound
impact on the course of the colonies, especially during the latter half of the Eighteenth Century, as they became independent from King George III's

Colonial America. Certain Puritans at time began to disassociate themselves with the established approach to worship which led to a general decline of
church goers in the British Colonies, and during the Great Awakening many ministers adopted instead a New Light approach in which was

Girl 's Obsession On Band Boys
As I began exploring into the one direction fandom, I was a little doubtful on what I was getting myself into. I am the bystander, that sits and
watches as the obsession of One Direction is blowing up all over my social media feed. The fans have a notorious reputation for being viewed on
society to spend countless hours drooling over someone they'll never have. My goal was to seek out the complexities of the peculiar phenomenon and
how this obsession affects their lives. Adventures in my research led me to a new understanding on how a online obsession over a teen–boy band can
affect the lives of many young girls. Being a part of the fandom online made me evident that my insight over the surrounding topic of girl's obsession
on band boys is incorrect. Through the online universe, people tend to have an emotional appeal that can be seen which allows us to further
investigate in fictional aspects. As I explored into it further, it became evident that fans behave in a way to harness the love they all share for their
idols. In order to understand, I put myself in different shoes to try and adapt to a lifestyle I was unfamiliar with. Fortunately for myself, my best friend
Jessica was apart of this community and this allowed the adaptation to come much smoother. In the past, she would occasionally bring up One

Liverpool Football Club: The Success Of A Liverpool...
Liverpool Football Club, or Liverpool FC in its heyday was considered to be the best football team in England and some might argue even Europe.
For a long time, Liverpool FC boasted the title of being the most decorated football club in England, which refers to the club that has won the most
trophies in their entire history. In recent years however, the trophies have mostly dried up with the club winning only 13 trophies since they last won
the English Premier League title in the 1989/90 season. This is a miserable number for a club of its stature and also if compared with the number of
trophies they won during their most successful period between 1971 to 1990, which was a total of 33 trophies. The decline in the success of the club

stuff online in the end I got attracted to Liverpool because of their history and how they used to win a lot of trophies. I know like very long never win

What has been related to me by Adam and Farrah clearly shows how family is not our own source of mnemonic socialization. Listening to his
friend's pride and happiness when talking about Liverpool made Adam slowly begin to grow an attachment to the club till eventually it become part
of his identity, as he becomes a Liverpool fan. For Farrah, vicarious memories does not other people's influence to arise, the things we choose to and

To address these concerns, Riordan should negotiate with its Chinese partners to obtain rights to directly work with suppliers. It can do this by insuring

Fan Violence: Whos To Blame? Essay
"These people want to hurt you. It's frightening. You feel like you're in a cage out there". Reggie Smith, (Berger, 1990). Spectator violence at sporting
events has been recorded throughout history. People who have power over the events, often team owners, indirectly influence the amount of spectator
violence by encouraging the factors contributing to violence, in order to benefit themselves. Sale of alcohol, encouraging crowd intensity, creating
rivalries, and targeting social groups, are factors affecting the degree of spectator violence and can be proven to be influenced by the owner's actions.
Therefore the blame for spectator violence can be attributed to whoever has power over the sport.

"Without beer companies as sponsors, the teams would have trouble making ends meet." Bob Whitsitt, president of Seattle Supersonics, (Berger, 1990).
The more alcohol consumed, the more revenue for the owners. During the 1987–1988 season the Cincinnati Reds sold 12,610 half–barrels and 35,365
cases of beer. The amount of beer consumed averages out to a pint for every man, woman, and child who attended the 81 games the team played at
home (Johnson, 1988). The team's owner benefited with a financial profit of over 1 million dollars.
Sponsorship or ownership of teams by alcohol manufacturers, increases the alcohol sales. The first major partnership of beer and baseball dates from
the 1953 purchase of the Cardinals by August A. Busch, Jr., president of the Anheuser

soared from fewer than 6 million barrels a year to more than 35 million (Johnson, 1988). In addition to direct profit, alcohol also indirectly increases
profit through increased attendance. In 1974, when the Cleveland Indians' fan attendance was down, the owner implemented "Beer Night" where they
sold beers for 10 cents at the first game of a three game series against the Texas Rangers (Berger, 1990). Attendance was up by 3500. The night turned
out to be the first and last "Beer Night". When a brawl occurred during the 5th inning, hundreds of Indian fans charged the field and beat up the Texas

Before the mid–1970s, NASCAR was never televised live. In 1979, the Daytona 500 became the first NASCAR event televised in its entirety. Since
then, television has become the main branding medium for NASCAR, and it appears to be working well. One of NASCAR's strengths is they
brokered a comprehensive 2.4–billion–dollar contract with FOX and NBC in 2011. This will not only help NASCRA to spread theirbrand, but also earn
$2.4 billion from FOX and NBC. Another strength is the loyalty of their fans. According to the drive to connect, in 2015, NASCAR had 70 million
fans. Their fans are considered the most loyal in all of sports, making NASCAR the #1 sport for fan brand loyalty. Fans are not only loyal to the sport,
but also to sponsors. This is one reason why sponsors are willing to pay the high premiums to align themselves with NASCAR. Their ability to
successfully co–brand themselves is an invaluable strength. As mentioned above, their fans patron the sponsors, increasing their profits. It's because of
this, that allows this co–branding strategy to work. Because NASCAR knows how important it is for sponsors to see an increase in sales, they offer
training sessions to help them make the most out of their sponsorship. Sponsorships make up 50% of NASCAR's revenue so it's vital that these
partnerships are maintained. Another success is their ability to differentiate themselves from the competition. NASCAR partners with Hollywood to

The Dyson ' Air Multiplier Essay
1. The Dyson' Air Multiplier
1.1. Introduction
In October 2009, the british designer and innovator, Sir James Dyson –best known for his line of vacuum cleaners with cyclone technology– launched a
new product onto the market, a desktop fan called the Dyson Air Multiplier, (Financial Times, 2009). This report gives a short description of this
innovation and explains in what way it is innovative. Next, its position in the product/service/system spectrum will be explained and finally the
potential for the widespread diffusion of this innovation will be discussed.
1.2. A short description of the innovation, and its innovative aspects
The first electric fan was invented by wheeler in 1886, consisting of two blades, without the protective cage, run by an electric motor (Carmack, 2009).
Over the years, with the advancement in technology, fans have become much lighter, safer, and more efficient. However, even though there are many
styles and sizes to choose from, the product's architecture has not changed significantly (figure 1 and 2 ).
According to James Dyson, the problem with design as such is that the fan chops the air and produce an uneven air flow, causing buffeting which
people usually do not find pleasant; in addition, conventional fans are unsafe for young children and difficult to clean (Etherington, 2009). Unsatisfied
with these flaws, along with the inspiration from another of his innovations, the Airblade hand dryer, Dyson created the Air

Origins of The Walking Dead
For my ethnography project, I chose to study the fandom of The Walking Dead. For the purpose of this paper, I will refer to The Walking Dead as a
comic, a video game, and a TV show series. The focus of this ethnography is to understand how the comic book culture influences many fans. Since the
series is based on a graphic novel series, and some of the fans are schooled in comic culture; they arrive with literacy in comic storytelling. Others who
are not fans may recognize the visually and narrative of zombie films, in the horror genre after 1968's Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead.
Yet many Walking Dead fans appear to have migrated to the zombie tale without any particular connection to the comic book storytelling, or significant
fascination, and the series' fandom illuminates how an apocalyptic imagination has expanded into popular culture.
The Walking Dead fandom has changed by geek standard. The Walking Dead has nearly all the classic of the 21st– century geek fandom: in this
picture, it shows you the evolution of graphic imaginary has changed to attracted plenty of fans. The rating success has produce games, cars, and toys
of the Walking Dead. The narrative extends over a vast range of official principles and the fan forms alike: its marketing team reaches out into nearly
every popular culture. The fandom appears to extend well beyond the stereotype of comic book nerds. Most fans' attention of The

Harry Potter Fandom Stereotypes
The word fandom, tends to be associated as an audience of passivity, obsession or even violence. As research has advanced, it is viable to see that these
connotations are not entirely valid. Instead the research on fandom is revealing to be more complex than initially thought. The following essay will
substantiate this claim, by showing how negative stereotypes of the fan may be disputed. This will be done through the use of the Harry Potter fandom.
Firstly, the essay will introduce the concept of a fan. Following this, an analysis will be given as to how fans are not only an active subcultural
community of readers, but also how they use these mechanisms to be powerful political and social agents. Additionally, the complexity of the fan shall

10–17). This perspective tries to override the power that fans appear to have over dominant ideology. This mask of passivity labels the fan as an
overweight, nerdy or a feminized and eroticised audience. By doing such, the fan appears helpless and weak towards the texts that they consume
(Jenkins, 1992, p. 19). Alternatively, other academics allow fans to be active, but they criticise this activeness as they perceive it to be inappropriate,
uneducated and of lower class culture (Jenkins, 1992, pp. 17–19). For instance, this view insists fans cannot make distinctions between fantasy and
reality which opposes the boundaries of dominant ideologies on reading practices (Jenkins, 1992, p. 17). Moreover, these fans are criticised for their
readings strategies as they use readings practices of high cultural texts for texts that are of popular mass culture (Jenkins, 1992, p. 17). Case studies
revolving around this perspective might be similar to the upheaval caused when a Harry Potter fan sexualised Emma Watson, the actress of the
character Hermione. The fan took images of the actress and edited her face onto various child–pornographic images which is definitely an eroticised
version of fan culture. (Daily Mail, 2010). By focusing on these single cases, fans on a broader scale become associated with such culture and, hence,
it is viable to see how, academics have been able to create the stereotypes that all fans are passive, uneducated and at the bottom of cultural status

Fan Violence During A Soccer Match

  • 1. Fan Violence During A Soccer Match One of the most reoccurring problem during a soccer match is fan violence. There have been matches were the players from a team and/or the fans have gotten injured because of the misconduct presented among fans. Throwing stuff to other fans or players and starting fights are stuff that people will most likely see if they attend soccer matches. This is especially shown when the two teams playing against each other are considered rivals in soccer. The people affected when this happens are the soccer fans and sometimes the players. What causes most of these problems during a match, is when fans are not happy about the score or when they think that there has been an error during the game. Supply Chain Design Paper OPS571 Supply Chain Design– Riordan Manufacturing OPS/571 March 31, 2014 Supply Chain Design–Riordan Manufacturing Every organization has their own manufacturing strategy, depending on the type of organization will depend on the strategy to have the best end result. Understanding the strategies and how they are used can help the manufacturing process. Riordan manufacturing is a Fortune 1000 organization which produces multiple products, throughout this paper Team C will explain Riordan's manufacturing strategy and the details that go into a manufacturing strategy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having strong production projections is what allows Riordan to utilize the Combination Strategy. Performance Metrics Performance metrics are tools that businesses can use to determine the efficiency of production. There are various types of performance metrics that a company can use; however in evaluating the performance of Riordan's electric fan supply chains the two most relevant metrics would be the productivity metric and the efficiency metric. "Productivity is the ratio of output to input" (Jacobs & Chase, 2011 pg. 117). This metric is useful to Riordan because the company can determine the ratio of the dollar value of the output and dividing it by the cost of the inputs. This ratio helps the company to determine if the they are spending more in labor and parts then they are generating in sales. For an organization in which generating sales is the primary goal, this is an important ratio to know. The productivity ratio determines whether or not the company is generating as much of a profit as it should or if too much money is being spent in order to make money. The second metric that is beneficial to Riordan is the Efficiency Metric. This metric "is a ratio of the actual output of a process relative to some standard" (Jacobs & Chase, 2011 pg. 117). This metric is beneficial in determining if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Fandom: Community, Culture, Community And Culture Fandom, both as a community and a culture is interpretative. The term interpretative community was rooted from a literary theorist named Stanley Fish. He established this notion in his book "Is There a Text in this Class?" (1980), believing that the reader holds a core position both in shaping and producing the meaning of literary works where according to him, reader's experiences affects their interpretation of a text. In his study, Fish (1980) divided the act of reading texts into two (2) categories in accordance with the reading strategies of the reader enabling him/her to interpret the text and define it. First, the same reader interprets different text differently. Second, different readers may interpret the same text similarly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These instances assessed Myc Wiatrowski of Indiana University in his essay "The Dynamics of a Fandom: Exploring Fan Communities in the online space." Wiatrowski discussed that the fans became a well connected 'global village' (McLuhan 1962, 36) in terms of worldwide contact because of the information age. In Wiatrowski's essay, he argued that the formation of fandom in the 'global village' is not merely an expression of communal identity, rather, a group performance constructing the community in terms of ideology and emotions. Wiatrowski asserted that there has been increased participation in the virtual modes of community's imagination, formation, and maintenance from the physical sphere of fandom through the 'global ... Whether it is film or music, the Buffs are the hardcore fans who constantly consume content about their favorite idols. They are experts not only of the specific idols, but also with the passion point. (i.e. music, film, or culture) They are one of the first people to know news about their favorite idols. • 5. Ethnography of Basketball Fan Culture Ethnography of Basketball Fan Culture Part 1 – Introduction As a basketball fanatic, I choose to investigate how fan culture surrounding basketball has grown and has become such a fan–oriented league. Basketball has expanded and has become a global phenomenon allowing fans to interact with athletes and change the way fans watch basketball through social media. Being a basketball fan where you could only watch your favorite teams games on television and listen on the radio to now being able to stream live games online with your laptop, phone, tablet, etc. There was a time players could only show their personalities by interviews and newspaper but with social media exposure, fans get to see their favorite basketball in another way from just seeing them on the court. In a way, fans feel more attached to a player having to interact with a certain player on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram rather then just reading about them, they get a first hand experience. Part 2 – Review Of Literature NBA fan culture and its interactions with players have revolutionized the league over the years. Fans only had the ability to either watch on TV or go see the game but now with Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts, there's a whole new way for fans to interact with athletes and stay connected. A paradigm shift has taken place in the American culture where fans feel a need for instant gratification. Social media now allows fans to fill their need without needing ... • 6. Describe and Analyse a Subculture with Which You Are Familiar Describe and analyse a subculture with which you are familiar. The definition of a subculture is a culture within a culture where a group develops distinctive norms and values that are different from those of the mainstream culture. The subculture that I will be writing about is called the Fan Base which is also know as the Fandom. A fan base or fandom is a group of regular supporters and enthusiasts that spend a rather large amount of time and energy focussing on a team, musician or musical group, entertainer or any other celebrity; these different people/groups can be classed as sort of a leader or main person that holds the group together. Fan bases do not majorly differ from mainstream cultures when it comes to values ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, for many fan bases there are expectations for each fan to have some form of social networking account so then they can communicate with other fans. Websites such as Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr would be the main examples of ways to communicate between fans. For music based fandoms, there is the expectation of having to be at concerts, signings, radio tours and any other events that the musician/band they follow attend. For fan bases there is not necessarily a method for learning the groups 'rules' or norms as you become part of a fan base by simply having something common with another fan, so liking the same band or television show, having the same dedication toward a team or band and so on. This means that you are automatically accepted as part of the group, however a lot of fans get agitated when fans that are part of their fandom decide to 'move fandoms' as they see it as a sort of betrayal to their 'leader', this can lead to unruly behaviour and many arguments within the fan base itself. This kind of subculture emerged originally in the 1960s when pop music first arrived on the scene. It was during a time when teenagers wanted to rebel against the system or just wanted be different to everyone else and this kind of music allowed them to do so. The first fan bases came about because of groups like The Rolling Stones and the Beatles, these particular groups especially had an impact on mainstream culture as many teenagers spent a

  • 8. Texas A&M Kingsville Should Provide Ceiling Fans to... Texas A&M University Kingsville should provide ceiling fans to different areas of the school Description of Problem: The proposal is that most school areas including Texas A&M University Kingsville should provide fans in every part or unit of the school which includes the classrooms and your room areas. Fans are used mainly for creating a current of air or breeze, especially a machine using an electric motor to rotate and in order to move air that is used for cooling the area. The problem of the proposal leading to making a change in convincing the school to provide fans in different areas can come in many different ways. There are several problems that I want to discuss that leads to schools providing fans to different areas. It includes that without fans in the school area it can affect your health status, it can lead to dehydration in which your body loses more water than it takes in and it can also lead to death. The first problem of the fans not being provided to different parts of the school area is that it can lead to affecting your health. In general, a fan helps to cool the surrounding when people are inside their rooms during the day. When there is no presence of fan, most people would sweat and in a hot area with no cold atmosphere coming in through it could lead to suffocation due to the presence of much heat. The second problem is that it can lead to dehydration. In this aspect where a place or a surrounding is hot you would sweat. This will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Descriptive Essay About One Direction In the music industry, they usually form the typical music group or boy band that can sing, dance, and are exceptional looking that appeal to teenage girls. In this case it was no exception. Nevertheless, that didn't matter, as millions of girls would line up the streets just to see a glimpse of them. The band that I'm talking about is One Direction. They are an English–Irish pop boy band originated from London, England. The band has gained millions upon millions of dedicated and loyal fans over their music careers. This profile will be centered on Directioners (Fan base nickname) who are viewed as crazy or a mob of hysteria teenage hormones. Furthermore, the effects of what causes these kind of emotions towards the band. I first recognize One Direction when I saw a promo for their album on tv and decided to check it out. I was intrigued by them and told my younger sister about them, which turned out to be a mistake on my part, considering, she soon became their number one fan. She bought their album and started listening to them twenty four–seven, repeating the song "What make you beautiful" over and over again. Then she bought T–shirts, bracelets, and magazines just to get the posters that had the band on them. Pretty much anything that was their merchandise she would convince our parents to buy it for her. I have never seen her like this before and perceive that she became obsessed with them. My sister would wake up early to watch them perform on a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Music And Its Effects On The Digital Age Billy Joel, Nickelback, Fifty Shades of Grey and Other Causalities of Schlock Music Professor explores the social dynamic of taste–shaming in the digital age. In some form or another, we've all been exposed to musical taste shaming. If you're a fan of the Eagles, Rush, Drake, or god help your soul, are passionate about the music of Nickelback, you've certainly received your share of barbs. As agents in what many have coined as "the age of hipsterism," none of us are safe from the smug judgment of those who perceive their own musical tastes as a cut–above the rest of us rubes. Of course, hipsterism is just another term for yet another "age" that mimics the same social and cultural elitist behaviours that have been occurring for centuries. Pomposity has always existed and generally speaking, it is a personality trait of someone who is lacking a degree of authentic social awareness. I mean, surely we can agree that it's myopic to judge someone's character based on their musical preferences! Although taste shaming is nothing new, shaming in today's digital world can have more profound consequences than ever before. Through social media accounts, we're prompted to express ourselves through vapid "must–complete" field templates. For most of these platforms, they ask us to list our favourite shows, movies and of course, music. This move from Hangzhou to MI allows customization without disrupting the flow of material and allowing customers in North America to customize their products. The custom designs will incorporate standard fastening details, which are common to Riordan fans. Standardized parts would save the company money through volume discounts and would eliminate waste from excess inventory of different fasteners. Once the customer decides to purchase a significant quantity of fans, Hangzhou will start the production process in China where polymer is more abundant and labor is less expensive. New Logistics Process Although Riordan has used a few different companies for its shipping needs, the company will benefit by taking a different approach, which will increase operational efficiency and competitive advantage. Certainly one area of concern is the less than optimal on–time delivery performance average of 93%, which affects negatively on the Riordan brand and customer satisfaction. Riordan will outsource its logistical requirements to the most qualified marketing partners. "Outsourcing is the act of moving some of a firm's internal activities and decision responsibilities to outside providers." Riordan will maintain its core competencies in–house, including the intellectual property of manufacturing high performance fans and outsource other logistical "non–proprietary" standardized processes. ... • 12. Sports Fanaticism In Sports Sports fans, also called sports devotees, followers, or supporters, devote themselves to a particular athlete, organization or sport. They may show their enthusiasm by often attending sporting events or watch on television, being members of a fan club, follow athletic news through newspapers, online websites, and create fanzines. They show a certain behavior towards an organization. These behaviors manifest in different ways and show in different types of sports fans. Even though sports fanaticism exists on a spectrum, some forms stick out more than others. Individual types that stick out include the bandwagon, the coach, the trash talker, the blind follower, and the statistician. The bandwagon, the person that sells into the hype of a club. Every sport holds its fair share of bandwagons. Bandwagons only know the popular players on the roster and only watch their team when it is a popular game. Their squad usually never has a losing season and tend to win the championship each year. If a player they like switches to a different organization in the postseason, the bandwagon suddenly supports that organization. When the bandwagon's team wins, they refer to their side as "we" and calls their side "them" when they lose. Furthermore, if the bandwagon goes to a game and their team loses, the bandwagon leaves before the game ends and does not talk about the game. • 13. Comic Cons: Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature Introduction Comic Cons are conventions targeting a fan base of comic book, science fiction and fantasy literature enthusiasts. Cons, as they're known by loyal fans, contain elements of a trade show and have grown in popularity since their inception in the early 1970s. In the beginning, comic book conventions and science fiction conventions, for the most part, remained independent of one another. In the last decade, however, they've fused to form international mega–conventions, in which crowds in the hundreds of thousands flock to a single event. What started out as a collector's paradise, drawing masses looking to buy, sell and trade their most prized possessions with like–minded individuals, Cons have turned into trendy, pop–culture meccas and redefined how society looks at nerds. The first Comic Con, San Diego's Golden State Comic Con, was held in 1970 in the basement of the U.S. Grant Hotel and attracted a humble 300 visitors (Hanks, 2012). A modest beginning to one of the most profitable industries of today. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Hollywood released several movies spawned by the comic book and science fiction industry. Although this wasn't a new concept (Christopher Reeve'sSuperman was one of the most popular and cherished characters of the 20th century), the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Spiderman and X–Men franchises shined a new light on these characters and, in turn, increased the popularity of their comic book and sci–fi origins (DiSalvo, 2014). In order to be able to meet their needs, Riordan may look to another business to provide the additional motors needed for their forecasted fan orders. Based on their past experiences, Riordan may need to consider looking for another company to purchase their motors from in order to foster a make–to–stock operation. This allows for a forecasting of potential sales based on an average of the past three year's sales and projecting that for the future year sales. This may help in creating a more competitive market for manufacturing and delivery of their product. Another consideration would be for the plant to carry additional stock on hand in order to satisfy any unexpected peaks in orders. At present, they do not stock fan expects for a small amount which would cover any warranty issues, however they depend on their supplier to have them readily available. Since they currently stock the plastic polymer which is used in the electric fans, they may choose to reduce that particular stock item and replace it with the most common type of motor. This could result in a cost savings and would indeed help them ensure that they are better prepared to provide their customers with the best possible service and product delivery. Conclusion Riordan Manufacturing needs to meet the demands of their clients. They will need to work on the safety stock to have inventory on hand and ready to ship for their ... • 19. The Coach Research Paper Sports are a form of entertainment, whether it is playing them or watching them. Yet part of the entertainment is also the audience. The fans can have a large impact on the game itself as well as your experience. We all have that one friend who is way too competitive, whether it involves sports or just who finishes eating first. They cannot choose what things to be competitive at, for that nature is in their blood. "The Coach" is the most competitive player – out of the fans. In a game, you will scarcely, see them sit down, and they are so competitive that they act as if they are actually playing the game. They could be sitting as high as the nosebleed seats and shouting at the players, telling them what to do, as if the players could somehow hear them. Yet they are being obnoxious to the people around them, for, unfortunately, they can hear them quite clearly. Coaches are essentially the "backseat drivers" of sports. The next "fan" we have is the complete opposite of a Coach, hence the quotation marks. Phonies come for the experience, not for the game. Phonies often come wearing all of the team's gear, yet it is all for the aesthetics and for the sports faГ§ade. You may think that the game is on their phone because that is what they'll spend most of their time watching. Unlike the Coach, others will not notice or pay much attention to Phonies, yet you will know they were there because it will be posted on social media or other public accounts. Coaches tend to be stubborn and close–minded, so not much bothers them. Except for the Rookie. Rookies are the bane of Coaches. Unlike Phonies, they are genuinely interested in the game. Unfortunately, they know little to nothing about the sport, and the people to suffer are the ones like Coaches. They are constantly asking questions about how it works and what's going on in the game, preventing others from fully enjoying and experiencing the game. Unlike Coaches, Rookies do not bother the rest of the fans, but only the ones they are close with. One good thing about Rookies is that they are honest. Followers also are not completely familiar with the game, yet they try to be discreet about it. They go with the flow of the crowd, yet you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Player Shirking: A Case Study Like Berri and Krautmann, I do not believe that a player shirks after signing a long–term contact, even though they receive guaranteed income and job security. One of the biggest reasons why I believe shirking does not arise is because team contracts often contain various performance dependent compensation that serves as additional income if the player meets expectations. Therefore, this additional contingent income can be seen as the opportunity cost of shirking because if a player shirks, the dip in productivity may prevent them from meeting these contract clauses and they will end up relinquishing these extra earnings. For example, New Orleans Pelican star Anthony Davis signed a maximum contract valued at $145 million in 2015 which contained a clause that required Davis to either be named the NBA MVP, be named an all–star starter, or make any of ... If a player performs at a level that a team's front office believes warrants a lucrative long–term contract, then these expectations will carry forward to the next season. However, if the player decides to shirk and decrease effort, they may receive heavy backlash from both the media and the fans. Media attention may further lead to productivity decreases as it may lead to an off–court distraction that the player always has to deal with. As for the fans, the player may constantly experience jeering whether it be on the court or an off the court encounter due to their regression and lack of effort, which will obviously not sit well with fans. The criticism experienced by the player who decides to shirk can have an adverse effect on his utility because they are constantly under scrutiny and condemned by fans for not living up to expectations. • 27. The Dark Side Of Enthusiasm The Dark Side of Enthusiasm Most often, enthusiasm is word of positive connotations, describing one's passion for something. The Oxford English Dictionary defined it as "intense and eager enjoyment, interest, or approval". However, in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, we begin to doubt this positivity of enthusiasm, and question the daunting natures of extreme enthusiasm. As we track the word enthusiasm and its derivatives, there appear to be a trend in which the meanings develop; enthusiasm no longer only holds its popular definition. By following this word throughout the novel, we can see its deterioration as the plot progresses, as it's passed on to different characters, and as it's associated with different words. The first three appearances of enthusiasm are in Walton's letters to his sister. "I feel my heart glow with an enthusiasm which elevates me to heaven," Walton says, "for nothing contributes so much to tranquilize the mind as a steady purpose" (6); being in the middle of nowhere among merciless ice and lifeless landscape, Walton's enthusiastic determination and clear purpose in his scientific endeavor is the life force that keeps him sane and strong. It is almost a requirement in order to survive in a lonely scientific journey, closely paralleled by Frankenstein's study. • 32. Girl 's Obsession On Band Boys As I began exploring into the one direction fandom, I was a little doubtful on what I was getting myself into. I am the bystander, that sits and watches as the obsession of One Direction is blowing up all over my social media feed. The fans have a notorious reputation for being viewed on society to spend countless hours drooling over someone they'll never have. My goal was to seek out the complexities of the peculiar phenomenon and how this obsession affects their lives. Adventures in my research led me to a new understanding on how a online obsession over a teen–boy band can affect the lives of many young girls. Being a part of the fandom online made me evident that my insight over the surrounding topic of girl's obsession on band boys is incorrect. Through the online universe, people tend to have an emotional appeal that can be seen which allows us to further investigate in fictional aspects. As I explored into it further, it became evident that fans behave in a way to harness the love they all share for their idols. In order to understand, I put myself in different shoes to try and adapt to a lifestyle I was unfamiliar with. Fortunately for myself, my best friend Jessica was apart of this community and this allowed the adaptation to come much smoother. In the past, she would occasionally bring up One Direction, but due to my disinterest of them, she didn't bring them up as much. • 34. Liverpool Football Club: The Success Of A Liverpool... Liverpool Football Club, or Liverpool FC in its heyday was considered to be the best football team in England and some might argue even Europe. For a long time, Liverpool FC boasted the title of being the most decorated football club in England, which refers to the club that has won the most trophies in their entire history. In recent years however, the trophies have mostly dried up with the club winning only 13 trophies since they last won the English Premier League title in the 1989/90 season. This is a miserable number for a club of its stature and also if compared with the number of trophies they won during their most successful period between 1971 to 1990, which was a total of 33 trophies. • 36. Fan Violence: Whos To Blame? Essay "These people want to hurt you. It's frightening. You feel like you're in a cage out there". Reggie Smith, (Berger, 1990). Spectator violence at sporting events has been recorded throughout history. People who have power over the events, often team owners, indirectly influence the amount of spectator violence by encouraging the factors contributing to violence, in order to benefit themselves. Sale of alcohol, encouraging crowd intensity, creating rivalries, and targeting social groups, are factors affecting the degree of spectator violence and can be proven to be influenced by the owner's actions. Therefore the blame for spectator violence can be attributed to whoever has power over the sport. Many historians suggest that an increase in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The more alcohol consumed, the more revenue for the owners. During the 1987–1988 season the Cincinnati Reds sold 12,610 half–barrels and 35,365 cases of beer. The amount of beer consumed averages out to a pint for every man, woman, and child who attended the 81 games the team played at home (Johnson, 1988). The team's owner benefited with a financial profit of over 1 million dollars. Sponsorship or ownership of teams by alcohol manufacturers, increases the alcohol sales. The first major partnership of beer and baseball dates from the 1953 purchase of the Cardinals by August A. Busch, Jr., president of the Anheuser –Busch brewery (Johnson, 1988). In twenty–five years its' sales soared from fewer than 6 million barrels a year to more than 35 million (Johnson, 1988). In addition to direct profit, alcohol also indirectly increases profit through increased attendance. In 1974, when the Cleveland Indians' fan attendance was down, the owner implemented "Beer Night" where they sold beers for 10 cents at the first game of a three game series against the Texas Rangers (Berger, 1990). • 37. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Nar Strengths Before the mid–1970s, NASCAR was never televised live. In 1979, the Daytona 500 became the first NASCAR event televised in its entirety. Since then, television has become the main branding medium for NASCAR, and it appears to be working well. One of NASCAR's strengths is they brokered a comprehensive 2.4–billion–dollar contract with FOX and NBC in 2011. This will not only help NASCRA to spread theirbrand, but also earn $2.4 billion from FOX and NBC. Another strength is the loyalty of their fans. According to the drive to connect, in 2015, NASCAR had 70 million fans. Their fans are considered the most loyal in all of sports, making NASCAR the #1 sport for fan brand loyalty. Fans are not only loyal to the sport, but also to sponsors. This is one reason why sponsors are willing to pay the high premiums to align themselves with NASCAR. Their ability to successfully co–brand themselves is an invaluable strength. As mentioned above, their fans patron the sponsors, increasing their profits. It's because of this, that allows this co–branding strategy to work. Because NASCAR knows how important it is for sponsors to see an increase in sales, they offer training sessions to help them make the most out of their sponsorship. Sponsorships make up 50% of NASCAR's revenue so it's vital that these partnerships are maintained. Another success is their ability to differentiate themselves from the competition. • 38. The Dyson ' Air Multiplier Essay 1. The Dyson' Air Multiplier 1.1. Introduction In October 2009, the british designer and innovator, Sir James Dyson –best known for his line of vacuum cleaners with cyclone technology– launched a new product onto the market, a desktop fan called the Dyson Air Multiplier, (Financial Times, 2009). This report gives a short description of this innovation and explains in what way it is innovative. Next, its position in the product/service/system spectrum will be explained and finally the potential for the widespread diffusion of this innovation will be discussed. 1.2. A short description of the innovation, and its innovative aspects The first electric fan was invented by wheeler in 1886, consisting of two blades, without the protective cage, run by an electric motor (Carmack, 2009). Over the years, with the advancement in technology, fans have become much lighter, safer, and more efficient. However, even though there are many styles and sizes to choose from, the product's architecture has not changed significantly (figure 1 and 2 ). According to James Dyson, the problem with design as such is that the fan chops the air and produce an uneven air flow, causing buffeting which people usually do not find pleasant; in addition, conventional fans are unsafe for young children and difficult to clean (Etherington, 2009). Unsatisfied with these flaws, along with the inspiration from another of his innovations, the Airblade hand dryer, Dyson created the Air ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Origins Of The Walking Dead Photo Essay – Origins of The Walking Dead For my ethnography project, I chose to study the fandom of The Walking Dead. For the purpose of this paper, I will refer to The Walking Dead as a comic, a video game, and a TV show series. The focus of this ethnography is to understand how the comic book culture influences many fans. Since the series is based on a graphic novel series, and some of the fans are schooled in comic culture; they arrive with literacy in comic storytelling. Others who are not fans may recognize the visually and narrative of zombie films, in the horror genre after 1968's Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead. Yet many Walking Dead fans appear to have migrated to the zombie tale without any particular connection to the comic book storytelling, or significant fascination, and the series' fandom illuminates how an apocalyptic imagination has expanded into popular culture. The Walking Dead fandom has changed by geek standard. The Walking Dead has nearly all the classic of the 21st– century geek fandom: in this picture, it shows you the evolution of graphic imaginary has changed to attracted plenty of fans. • 40. Harry Potter Fandom Stereotypes The word fandom, tends to be associated as an audience of passivity, obsession or even violence. As research has advanced, it is viable to see that these connotations are not entirely valid. Instead the research on fandom is revealing to be more complex than initially thought. The following essay will substantiate this claim, by showing how negative stereotypes of the fan may be disputed. This will be done through the use of the Harry Potter fandom. Firstly, the essay will introduce the concept of a fan. Following this, an analysis will be given as to how fans are not only an active subcultural community of readers, but also how they use these mechanisms to be powerful political and social agents. This mask of passivity labels the fan as an overweight, nerdy or a feminized and eroticised audience. By doing such, the fan appears helpless and weak towards the texts that they consume (Jenkins, 1992, p. 19). Alternatively, other academics allow fans to be active, but they criticise this activeness as they perceive it to be inappropriate, uneducated and of lower class culture (Jenkins, 1992, pp. 17–19). For instance, this view insists fans cannot make distinctions between fantasy and reality which opposes the boundaries of dominant ideologies on reading practices (Jenkins, 1992, p. 17). Moreover, these fans are criticised for their readings strategies as they use readings practices of high cultural texts for texts that are of popular mass culture (Jenkins, 1992, p. 17). Case studies revolving around this perspective might be similar to the upheaval caused when a Harry Potter fan sexualised Emma Watson, the actress of the character Hermione. The fan took images of the actress and edited her face onto various child–pornographic images which is definitely an eroticised version of fan culture. (Daily Mail, 2010). By focusing on these single cases, fans on a broader scale become associated with such culture and, hence, it is viable to see how, academics have been able to create the stereotypes that all fans are passive, uneducated and at the bottom of cultural status (Jenkins, 1992, pp. ...
