Madam J Walker Inspiration
When I think of influential people, especially those of African American descent, so many names flash through my mind but my main inspiration
would have to be Madam C.J. Walker. Many know her as the first female, of any race, self–made millionaire in America. While I may not a business
major, I still draw much inspiration from her story. She was the first free–born member of her family and was raised in the Jim Crow South. She
literally spent half of her life doing back breaking work by washing other people's clothes seven days a week and only made $1.50 each week. She
came from next to nothing but that didn't dampen her spirit or dreams. Women, especially black women, in the late 1800s into the 20th century had
few options to make money and their opinions were overlooked by the males that dominated society at the time. While women today are not nearly as
oppressed as during Walker's time we still have mountains to climb to obtain the true equality so many women crave.... Show more content on

Walker took a rather simple idea, a hair product that helped women's hair grow, and built a million dollar company. Her operation started off small, she
went door–to–door selling her products in Colorado to anyone that would listen and soon her company began to grow. Madam C.J. Walker had no
formal training in how to run a business, the only experience she had was as a laundress but she felt that there was more to the world than what she
saw around her.
Representation of successful African American women were few and far between but that didn't deter Walker, she was determined to make a better
life for herself and her daughter, Lelia. That determination and drive is what I look up to whenever I hear her story. Life was extremely difficult for
blacks post–Civil War but Madam C.J. Walker did her best to get past life's obstacles and do what her heart desired. She rose above her subpar living
conditions and knew that she was the only one standing in her way of

Madam Butterfly, "Un Bel Di" By Giacomo Puccini
Giacomo Puccini was born in Lucca, Italy on December 22nd, 1858. He was one of nine children of Michele Puccini and Albina Magi. The Puccini
family was established in Lucca as a local musical dynasty by Puccini 's great–great grandfather. Each of the men in the family studied music at
Bologna, and some went on to take additional musical studies courses elsewhere in Italy. Most of them composed music for the church, Cattedrale di
San Martino. With the Puccini family having occupied the position of maestro di cappella for 124 years (1740–1864) by the time of Puccini's father's
death, it was anticipated that Puccini ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was rewritten and this time contained three acts. This second version was performed on 28 May 1904 in Brescia. In 1906, Puccini wrote a third
version and in 1907, Puccini made several changes which became the fourth version, and was performed in Paris on many occasions. "In 1907, Puccini
made his final revisions to the opera in a fifth version, which has become known as the "Standard Version" and is the one which is most often
performed around the world" (Wagner).
Like Puccini's other operas, this one tells the story of a tragic–heroic female protagonist. A young geisha named Cio–Cio–San, from Nagasaki,
renounces her profession and religion to marry an American Naval Officer, Pinkerton. The two are married but her husband must depart soon after the
ceremony. When Pinkerton returns to Nagasaki several years later, with a new American wife by his side, he learns that Butterfly has given birth to a
son. Pinkerton decides to take their son back with him to American, and Butterfly accepts his decision with dignity. But rather than return to her life as
a geisha, Madame Butterfly commits suicide with her father's sword.
Un bel dì vedremo ("One fine day we shall see"), the opera 's most famous aria, is from Act II and takes place many years after the marriage of
Butterfly and Pinkerton. It tells the tale of her daydream, the young brides' happy reunion with her loving husband, and she reminisces Pinkerton's

Madam Odalisque and Lady Olympia
Madam Odalisque and Lady Olympia Throughout history the subject of human body and nudity has always been a topic that artists have taken into
consideration when painting, depending on the time period that they were living in and style that they were working in. By looking at the history of art
through the 19th century, it is very clear that this subject was by far the most important and most consistent topic throughout this specific time period.
Other subject matters such as still life, everyday life, landscapes, biblical and mythical stories and etc at some point were the most important subjects
for artists to paint due to the political, social, economical and religious status of the city or country that they were living in. However... Show more

In other words, he wanted the viewers to see paintings as a two dimensional surface and not three dimensional pictures. With having such mindset,
Manet's work was always being critiqued harshly by the French Academy and the public. One of his best known paintings which like Ingres's
Grande Odalisque received very brutal critiques was his Olympia done in 1863. Manet not only wanted to portray a modern life scene, but also
wanted to make social commentaries throughout his work. In Olympia was he was able to make a comment about the French social and sensual
lifestyle. Olympia is a painting of a reclined nude figure that appears to be a prostitute because of the title that he had given it (during the 19th
century, a professional prostitute was called an Olympia). According to the critics Manet's figure was not known as a "nude" figure, but was known
as a "naked" figure due to the thin black ribbon that she had tied around her neck, the golden bracelet that she had around her arm, the fashionable
slippers that she was wearing and finally the Orchid flower that she had on the side of her hair. Critics not only gave Manet a hard time because of his
subject matter and the story that he was narrating with it, but also gave him a hard time because of the "un–finished" look that he had given to his
painting by using the color patch technique. Ingres and Manet were very different in

her staff gave the audience favorable questions in her last Presidential run, as a result, some voters believe this could happen again. (Malcolm, Andrew).
Personally, I don't think Hillary Clinton actually knows what she wants. She continues to change her views on major issues, and seems to only agree
with whichever opinion is most popular with the public at the time.
Do you recall when Hillary was against gay marriage? In 2004, Hillary Clinton gave a speech broadcasted by C–Span and stated this:
"I believe marriage is not just a bond, but a sacred bond between a man and a woman [...] the fundamental bedrock principle that [marriage] exists
between a man and a woman."
Then, in 2013, during an interview with Terry Gross, she states: "For me, marriage had always been a matter left to the States," she said, eventually
going on, "[I] fully endorse the efforts by activists to work state by state."
It seems puzzling that just three years ago, she would not publicly say she supported gay marriage, but since she started her campaign for president.

Analysis Of Madam De Pompadour
The canvas depicts Madam de Pompadour, former mistress of Louis XV. Painted during the final year of her life and completed shortly after her
death. Life size in scale (217 x 156.8cm) this vertical composition could be daunting, and yet this carefully composed painting shows the sitter with
a pleasant and welcoming expression, engaging with her audience, almost drawing them closer. The Marquise is confidently placed at the centre of
the composition, the background is dark and uncomplicated background, there are sumptuous red curtains behind and to her right, whilst a
beautifully carved and gilded bookcase filled with books and a similarly decorated table are set on her left, creating a diagonal line from the top left
to the bottom right of the canvas with the sitter at the centre of this division; dressed in her beautifully detailed and elaborately embellished gown
flowing into and continuing the bias of the arrangement. There is an impression that the Marquise is slightly removed or distanced from the observer:
a chair with a small spirited dog standing on it, the embroidery (tambour frame) upon which she works with coloured thread, a mandolin or lute is
placed strategically in the foreground, creating something akin to a boundary, the leg or frame of the tambour is a prominent black vertical line before
here reinforcing this impression and yet this perceived perimeter does not detract from the feeling of domesticity and welcome. Around the edge of the
table at the

At approximately 5:03p.m. Israel Thomas' Mom came down to Mr. Kimpson's room. When she got there she barged in asking, "What is this?" "Is this

over into my room and said, "Hey, he can't serve a detention and I would appreciate if you have an issue with my son, you call me." I told her,
"Ma'am I sent home the letter to inform you that Israel had a detention and he brought it back signed by you." She said, "Yeah I know I signed it
but he can't stay for detention." She then stated that, "I know I signed the letter, but I was suppose to call you but I had a lot going on and didn't

Madame Curie, as the scientist is venerably called, was a true pioneer of her time. Growing up amidst political turmoil and sexual discrimination she

Essay On Madam Cj Walker Is A Role Model
When people talk about those they look up to most would say someone in the entertainment business, maybe a sports player, rapper, or television
star. Which is nothing wrong with having entertainers as role models because they too have stories and they too have beginnings? For me, a role
model is someone who sets standards, believes in something and goes for it, but also someone who breaks down barriers designed specifically to
stop them. Madam C.J. Walker is just that. Not only did she succeed beyond everyone's expectations, she also maneuvered well in a system full of

Madam Matisse- (the green line) Essay
The Artwork.
'Madam Matisse' is a rather famous portrait of Matisse's wife, and is a great example of a fauvist artwork, using many bold, bright and contrasting
colours throughout the painting. This painting was created using oil and tempura on canvas; tempera being a glutinous water–soluble material such as
egg yolk, which is added to painting medium. The paint has been applied in bold, thick and vigorous brushstrokes, in several layers, along with added
texture. The green line in the centre of Madam Matisse's face has been well placed as a shadow line, and also in order to prevent the face from sinking
into the strong flat colours in the background. The face is also divided into a warm, and cool side, and the brushstrokes also add to ... Show more

There are many examples which are similar to this work, also being fauve or using the bright, bold colour which is an important feature of this piece.
Such paintings include; Apples(1916), and Girl with green eyes (1908).
Artwork –World.
The artwork reflects aspects of the world at the time it was created through the use of colour and painting techniques of the fauvist movement, which
was a new development of the time. Matisse was one of the most dominant figures in the movement and was also the 'founding father'. This new
movement was largely influenced by such painters as Van Gogh and Picasso, both whom fauvists greatly admired. The fauvists also tried to translate
their feelings into colour on the canvas board, which they applied roughly, in thick strokes, almost clumsily. Their art was rather free, and of a very
expressive nature.
These techniques; such as colour use, was made possible due to the developments in paint, and the production and availability of brighter and stronger
colour. This was also new to the art world at this time.
Apart from Matisse's new found and developed personal style which is an obvious feature and aspect of this work, it is unlikely that any other events
of the time affected this work. Matisse simply chose subject

A Comparison Of Madam Defarge And Sydney Carton
In Charles Dickenson A Tale of Two Cites there were plenty of characters that I could have chosen from but two that stood out to me the most were
Madam Defarge and Sydney Carton. They stood out to me because although they are equally strong characters who they were revealed to be was
shocking. As a reader we meet Madam Defarge in her wine shop. I got the feeling that she was a very flashy woman because wore fur coverings
and big gold hoop earrings. She didn't say much but the air around her must have been tense. She would often cough to get her husband's attention
when a visitor would enter the shop. Madam Defarge would be seen knitting away while her husband would conduct business. She may have seem
busy knitting but she was always listening to what was going on. Her knitting is a register of people that need to be killed, this important because
the Defarges are a part of the resistance. During the early parts of the story I thought of Madam Defarge as her husband's helper but I was surprised to
learn that she was ruthless and the person in charge. There was a point when Monsieur Defarge was looking down and out and... Show more content on

The Presentation Presented By Zoe Madams
Were there any areas for improvement that you would have changed? Please explain with details. The portion of the presentation presented by Zoe
Madams refers to some obstacles encountered during the inclusion of independent contractors. She mentions that such contractors were reluctant to
"buy into the program" and among other things, they were unwilling to utilize the parent company's adopted software, which was a requirement
(Madams & Alexander, 2013). From the video it seems like the issues with contractors came after the projects were kicked off and started, which
makes me think that a better job could have been done by providing clear guidance and setting specific requirements during the bidding process.
Soliciting bids from only those contractors willing to adapt to the new methods and techniques specific for the projects comprised within the Olympic
program could have minimize the problems encountered during execution and maybe even the need for such a high presence of managers in ground to
oversee their work as a control mechanism. Later during the presentation, Gordon Alexander provides insight into one more area that could be
improved in future projects. This project clearly benefited from historical records and from previous lessons learned acquired during past projects
(Madams & Alexander, 2013). It is puzzling why Gordon Alexander states during his portion of the presentation that the Olympic Delivery Authority
(ODA) was not trying to create reports that

The Characteristics Of Madam Merle
One of the most impressive characteristics of the novel is that James sets Isabel Archer's consciousness as central consciousness. What James referred
as "central consciousness" is, that the story is presented to the reader through this centering person's eye and feeling. Isabel is a girl who has a willful

thoughts of vague outlines" (James, Portrait 52) as in chapter 6 as well as through her speech, actions and interaction with other character in additional
to the comments of other character. She is a lady with fine imagination about her romantic love. So when she meets Gilbert Osmond, who is a sensitive

Character Analysis Of Madam Secretary
Politics and the word "exciting" being used in the same sentence is an oxymoron for most. But the CBS show Madam Secretary, shatters that
assumption. The show is based on the life of a "rogue" Secretary of State, Elizabeth (Bes) McCord which is played by Tia Leoni. She has been
appointed to the Secretary of State position just after the previous Secretary of State dies in a mysterious plane crash. The pilot episode begins with
President Conrad Dalton pulls up to her private ranch house asking his former colleague from the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) to work with
him again, but this time in his cabinet. She is reluctant at first for a few reasons, she is married and has three children, she has not previously held any
political office, and she does not have any interest to advance herself in politics. The President does not take no as offer, gives her some time to think
about it and later on McCord agrees to take the job. The show embracing a strong female leading character handing commonplace issues all the while
not mentioning a political party propels a compelling message that resonates with its viewers and forces the viewers to request that our political system
in reality was analogous to the show.
Madam Secretary showcases a veritable leader. She approaches a magnitude of crises with poise and confidence. In one episode of the show, there is
a threat on a US States base in Yemen and the life of an American ambassador could be in danger. She immediately goes to the

Madam J Walker Inspiration

  • 1. Madam J Walker Inspiration When I think of influential people, especially those of African American descent, so many names flash through my mind but my main inspiration would have to be Madam C.J. Walker. Many know her as the first female, of any race, self–made millionaire in America. While I may not a business major, I still draw much inspiration from her story. She was the first free–born member of her family and was raised in the Jim Crow South. She literally spent half of her life doing back breaking work by washing other people's clothes seven days a week and only made $1.50 each week. She came from next to nothing but that didn't dampen her spirit or dreams. Women, especially black women, in the late 1800s into the 20th century had few options to make money and their opinions were overlooked by the males that dominated society at the time. While women today are not nearly as oppressed as during Walker's time we still have mountains to climb to obtain the true equality so many women crave.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Walker took a rather simple idea, a hair product that helped women's hair grow, and built a million dollar company. Her operation started off small, she went door–to–door selling her products in Colorado to anyone that would listen and soon her company began to grow. Madam C.J. Walker had no formal training in how to run a business, the only experience she had was as a laundress but she felt that there was more to the world than what she saw around her. Representation of successful African American women were few and far between but that didn't deter Walker, she was determined to make a better life for herself and her daughter, Lelia. That determination and drive is what I look up to whenever I hear her story. Life was extremely difficult for blacks post–Civil War but Madam C.J. Walker did her best to get past life's obstacles and do what her heart desired. She rose above her subpar living conditions and knew that she was the only one standing in her way of ... "In 1907, Puccini made his final revisions to the opera in a fifth version, which has become known as the "Standard Version" and is the one which is most often performed around the world" (Wagner). A young geisha named Cio–Cio–San, from Nagasaki, renounces her profession and religion to marry an American Naval Officer, Pinkerton. The two are married but her husband must depart soon after the ceremony. When Pinkerton returns to Nagasaki several years later, with a new American wife by his side, he learns that Butterfly has given birth to a son. Pinkerton decides to take their son back with him to American, and Butterfly accepts his decision with dignity. But rather than return to her life as a geisha, Madame Butterfly commits suicide with her father's sword. Un bel dГ¬ vedremo ("One fine day we shall see"), the opera 's most famous aria, is from Act II and takes place many years after the marriage of Butterfly and Pinkerton. • 7. Madam Odalisque and Lady Olympia Madam Odalisque and Lady Olympia Throughout history the subject of human body and nudity has always been a topic that artists have taken into consideration when painting, depending on the time period that they were living in and style that they were working in. By looking at the history of art through the 19th century, it is very clear that this subject was by far the most important and most consistent topic throughout this specific time period. With having such mindset, Manet's work was always being critiqued harshly by the French Academy and the public. One of his best known paintings which like Ingres's Grande Odalisque received very brutal critiques was his Olympia done in 1863. Manet not only wanted to portray a modern life scene, but also wanted to make social commentaries throughout his work. In Olympia was he was able to make a comment about the French social and sensual lifestyle. Olympia is a painting of a reclined nude figure that appears to be a prostitute because of the title that he had given it (during the 19th century, a professional prostitute was called an Olympia). According to the critics Manet's figure was not known as a "nude" figure, but was known as a "naked" figure due to the thin black ribbon that she had tied around her neck, the golden bracelet that she had around her arm, the fashionable slippers that she was wearing and finally the Orchid flower that she had on the side of her hair. Critics not only gave Manet a hard time because of his subject matter and the story that he was narrating with it, but also gave him a hard time because of the "un–finished" look that he had given to his painting by using the color patch technique. • 35. A Comparison Of Madam Defarge And Sydney Carton In Charles Dickenson A Tale of Two Cites there were plenty of characters that I could have chosen from but two that stood out to me the most were Madam Defarge and Sydney Carton. They stood out to me because although they are equally strong characters who they were revealed to be was shocking. As a reader we meet Madam Defarge in her wine shop. I got the feeling that she was a very flashy woman because wore fur coverings and big gold hoop earrings. She didn't say much but the air around her must have been tense. She would often cough to get her husband's attention when a visitor would enter the shop. Madam Defarge would be seen knitting away while her husband would conduct business. She may have seem busy knitting but she was always listening to what was going on. Her knitting is a register of people that need to be killed, this important because the Defarges are a part of the resistance. During the early parts of the story I thought of Madam Defarge as her husband's helper but I was surprised to learn that she was ruthless and the person in charge. There was a point when Monsieur Defarge was looking down and out and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People were poor, hungry, and abused by the government. • 36. The Presentation Presented By Zoe Madams Were there any areas for improvement that you would have changed? Please explain with details. The portion of the presentation presented by Zoe Madams refers to some obstacles encountered during the inclusion of independent contractors. She mentions that such contractors were reluctant to "buy into the program" and among other things, they were unwilling to utilize the parent company's adopted software, which was a requirement (Madams & Alexander, 2013). From the video it seems like the issues with contractors came after the projects were kicked off and started, which makes me think that a better job could have been done by providing clear guidance and setting specific requirements during the bidding process. Soliciting bids from only those contractors willing to adapt to the new methods and techniques specific for the projects comprised within the Olympic program could have minimize the problems encountered during execution and maybe even the need for such a high presence of managers in ground to oversee their work as a control mechanism. Later during the presentation, Gordon Alexander provides insight into one more area that could be improved in future projects. This project clearly benefited from historical records and from previous lessons learned acquired during past projects (Madams & Alexander, 2013). It is puzzling why Gordon Alexander states during his portion of the presentation that the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) was not trying to create reports that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She has been appointed to the Secretary of State position just after the previous Secretary of State dies in a mysterious plane crash. The pilot episode begins with President Conrad Dalton pulls up to her private ranch house asking his former colleague from the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) to work with him again, but this time in his cabinet. She is reluctant at first for a few reasons, she is married and has three children, she has not previously held any political office, and she does not have any interest to advance herself in politics. The President does not take no as offer, gives her some time to think about it and later on McCord agrees to take the job.
