2. What have you learnt
about technologies from
constructing this
product?
3. My Products
Overall, I have created three products: A front
cover, contents page and double page spread. To
construct my front cover, I used Photoshop,
whereas for my other two products, I used
InDesign.
To take my photos for these products I used a
DSLR camera.
4. Front Cover
For my front cover the software I used was
Photoshop. I had used Photoshop a few times in
the past before, therefore I was familiar with
some of the basic features and how to use them,
however there were some things that I wasn’t
aware of and things that I could do, just with little
skill. In the creation of my front cover, I learnt how
to edit the photos that I took, editing the colours,
contrasts, etc and also how to cut the images out
without having harsh lines and edges. I also
learnt how to make the images bigger without it
becoming blurry, which was something I couldn’t
do before.
5. Contents page and double page
spread
For these two products, I used InDesign. This
was a product that I had no previous experience
with, therefore I was starting from scratch in terms
of knowledge and skills. I learnt how to do
everything, I learnt that it is a technology used for
laying out content. I learnt how to arrange text,
set text out in columns and how to space it evenly
across the page in order to make it professional. I
did this by learning how to use the guides on the
screen, and by the time I had finished the two
products I felt as though it was simple and easy
to use despite initially finding it difficult.
6. Camera
The DSLR camera that I used was critical in the
making of my products. I used the camera in
order to take photos that were clear, high-quality
and that looked professional. I had never used a
camera this good before therefore it took a few
times to get the photos that I wanted for my front
cover etc however in the end I was happy with my
ability to take good photos on the camera and
had many options to choose from. I learnt how to
zoom in and out, and change the settings of the
camera to suit the environment the photos were
shot in.
