Real Channel 4 print adverts
We followed all of the codes and conventions of real print adverts, created by
channel 4. This made it easier to create our print advert as we were virtually
given a template/rules to follow in order to make our print advert as
professional as possible.
Image fills the whole screen.
This is used to grab the
audience’s attention as this is
possibly the first glimpse they
will have had of the
documentary.

Simple, easy to read font
and a minimal amount of
text.
The use of the title on
the print advert is an
important convention
we followed. This is
vial as it tells the
audience what the
programme is called
so they can recognise
it on their TV. This also
creates a brand as this
title appears in all 3 of
our products.
There is a short line
of text describing the
show. This is very
important as it lets
the viewer know
what it is about,
therefore gaining
people’s interest. In
our case ours tells
the audience that
our documentary is
about the
supernatural.
Image has to be quite simple (instead of having a lot
going on in one space), however still has to be
interesting and effective. We did this by having the
simple image of the girl holding the candles, but made
the image interesting through the spooky vibe, (which we
highlighted by taking the image at night) and the smaller
details such as the ember overlay and the use of rings.

  • 2. Real Channel 4 print adverts We followed all of the codes and conventions of real print adverts, created by channel 4. This made it easier to create our print advert as we were virtually given a template/rules to follow in order to make our print advert as professional as possible.
  • 3. Image fills the whole screen. This is used to grab the audience’s attention as this is possibly the first glimpse they will have had of the documentary. Channel 4 logo on right hand side of screen Text in bottom left hand corner of screen Simple, easy to read font and a minimal amount of text. The use of the title on the print advert is an important convention we followed. This is vial as it tells the audience what the programme is called so they can recognise it on their TV. This also creates a brand as this title appears in all 3 of our products. There is a short line of text describing the show. This is very important as it lets the viewer know what it is about, therefore gaining people’s interest. In our case ours tells the audience that our documentary is about the supernatural. Image has to be quite simple (instead of having a lot going on in one space), however still has to be interesting and effective. We did this by having the simple image of the girl holding the candles, but made the image interesting through the spooky vibe, (which we highlighted by taking the image at night) and the smaller details such as the ember overlay and the use of rings.
