A genre is a specific type of music, film, or
writing. Your favorite literary genre might be
science fiction, and your favorite film genre
might be horror flicks about cheerleaders.

3. I have decided to create an indie music
magazine taking inspiration from magazines
such as NME, Kerrang and Q magazine.

It has a three
colour palette
of red, white
and black and
this is
synonymous
with the indie
genre.
Both have
big bold
abbreviated
mast heads.
Both have a
centrally
framed
image.
They both
have very
similar long
haired
images.
They have similar
costumes. The polo-
necked jackets.
The sell lines have a very
similar font on both
magazines.
There facial expressions
are both very blank and
stern. They are staring
at the camera.
The
barcode is
in the same
place on
both
magazines.

5. Similarities
The images are placed
in similar places and
take up a lot of the
pages.
The layouts
are also very
similar.
The page
numbers
have the
same style on
both
magazines.
They are very
big and stand
out relating
to where they
are in the
magazine.
The consistent Black
white and red colors
apply again in the
contents page.
The font is
once again
very similar
and bold to
stand out.
The titles are bigger
than the words on
both magazines to
grab the readers
attendance.
They both contain
boxes behind the
page numbers.

6. Similarities
Both articles have
four columns
An artist takes up a full page
on both.
Very little writing and
more of the magazine
is dedicated to the big
bold article title taking
up half of the page.
The costumes are very
indie and so are the
hairstyles.
Once again the
colour theme is
black, white and
red.
The magazines look
almost identical, the
use of font being very
similar.
Both have
very stern
looks on
there face.

7. Reflection
The repertoire of my chosen genre, indie, is;
• Three colour palette of black, red and white
• Very indie costumes, tartan shirts, harrington jackets,
oversized t-shirts, skinny jeans, doc martens.
• Very big bold fonts
• Long, dark hair
• Centrally framed large image
• Big bold mast head
• Large page numbers
In order to confirm my genre and deliver my audience familiar
pleasures I will;
• Use black and white photos
• Use bold titles in bright red, white and black colours
• Have a centrally framed large image
• Use very big page numbers
• Use indie clothing
• Use medium shots
• Use very clear bold fonts
• Model using a very stern, blank facial expression
