2. GERMANYAND BORDERS
As you can see in this photo, Germany is situated in the
north-center of Europe. Its surrounded of nine
countries: Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, France,
Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic
and Poland.
3. PHYSICAL FACTORS
Many rivers cross Germany among themselves, the Danube river and the Rhone
river. There are also German rivers like the Oder, the Lahn and the Saale.
In Germany there aren´t many high mountains, the most important ones are the
Harz, in the centre of the country, the Erz-Gebirge, in the south east and the
Thyringer Wald , in the south.
Germany has also coasts, it’s washed by the Northern Sea.

4. ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISIONS
Germany is a Federal Country, like the U.S.A or Switzerland. It’s divided in
16 states ; each one of them have their own government and parliament, but
they are ruled by the Federal Council, which is called “Bundesrat”.
Germany can be divided too in Administrative Regions (22) , they are
subdivisions of the states.
However, the Administrative Regions are divided in districts (439) , which
can be urban or rural.
5. THE PRESIDENT
Joachim Gauck , (24 January of 1940) is the current
President of Germany.
Between his labours, he must propose a candidate
to the elections for federal chancellor.
Also, he must sign the laws so that they can be published
on the State Gazette.
Finally, he can dissolve the Federal Parliament in two cases: If in the Geneal
Chancellor’s election there isn’t absolute majority after three votations; or
if the chancellor faces a confidence vote.
6. THE CHANCELLOR
Angela Merkel (17 July of 1954) is the current
Chancellor of Germany. The chancellor is the
head of government, so she’s the main authority
of Germany. She directs the Executive Power.
Her labour consist in rule the central
government of Germany.
7. CULTURE AND HISTORY
Classical composers such as Beethoven or Bach, as well as
Einstein and Gutenberg are German.
Germany's sausages (wurst) are known worldwide.
The largest fair in the world, called Oktoberfest, is held in

Germany's history before the end of the II World War is
mainly divided into three empires (Reich):
I Reich -> Holy Roman Empire (962–1806)
II Reich -> German Empire (1871–1918)
III Reich -> Nazi Germany (1933–1945)
After losing the II World War, Germany was divided in
West and East Germany. The symbol of the separation,
the Berlin Wall, fell in 9 November 1989.
