10. Hi! Let me introduce myself….
Jump to
“VoiceThread Workshop Introduction”
in Blackboard and create your first VT by introducing yourself to the group.
Keep your intro under one minute.
11. Add VT in Blackboard – Step 1
1. Navigate to the “Content” area for your course.
2. Click on the “Tools” menu.
3. Select “VoiceThread” from the menu
4. Give the link a title and description.
5. Enable grading (possible points = 100)
6. Submit
12. Add VT in Blackboard - Step 2
In BB, click on the link you just created.
• Course View - displays the collection of VoiceThreads (VT) that have been shared with
your course
• Individual VT - displays a VoiceThread that the instructor has created
• VT Home - displays all of a student’s VoiceThread content in a single view
• Assignment Builder - creates a graded assignment for students to complete.
13. Add VT in Blackboard – Step 2
• Assignment Builder
– Create a VT
• Students create their own VT to submit for points. Commenting cannot be done directly. However,
you can create a link to Course View in addition to the Create VoiceThread link which will allow
students to see and comment on each other’s work.
– Submit a Comment – Comment on a VT created by an instructor
– Watch a VT – Award points for watching an instructor’s VT.
14. Complete the Setup
• Depending on the type of assignment you create, you’ll have options to:
– Include a description
– Select a VT you’ve created
– Allow resubmissions
– Specify number of required comments
Now that you have an understanding of what a VT is and know how to comment on a VT, let’s add one to your BB course. There are two steps needed.
First, ……
Now click on the link you just created in BB. Here you are given 4 choices of what you would like students to do: Course view, individual vt, vt home, or assignment builder. If you plan to grade the vts, then this it the option you will choose.
With Assignment builder, you can now chose three methods: Create a vt, submit a comment on a vt you have created, or simply watch a vt you have created. The student must watch the entire vt to get credit.
When creating a new VT, you can add a title, description, adjust playback options, and add cover art. All fields can be edited later, as well.
Title and description are helpful.
Most options are obvious. A few that may not be so clear are: Enable Comment Moderation – Comment moderation allows you to review all comments before allowing students to see them.
The Pcecha Kucha format and Ignite format may be good at forcing students to get to and stick to the topic. The Pcha Kucha format is 20 slides that play 20 seconds each. The ingnite format is 15 seconds each with a maximum time of 5 minutes.
