2. VoiceThread—Why is it so amazing?
• VoiceThread allows a user to create a
conversation that can be shared without the use
of any software.
• Think of VoiceThread as an interactive slideshow
conversation which allows others to add their
own comments.
• Viewers can leave their comments in the form of:
voice, text, an audio file, or video.
• A VoiceThread presentation can be embeded in a
blog and still have the ability to received
comments.
3. VoiceThread--How would I ever use it?
Using a VoiceThread can enhance your lessons by allowing
your students to collaborate and interact with one another.
Here are a few ideas of how you can use it:
• Embed a VoiceThread on your class blog that requires your students to reflect
on what they have learned during a lesson. This can provide your students with
the opportunity to be more open and able to express their own thoughts and
opinions (without being face-to-face with the teacher).
• After assigning a group project, allow each group to set up their own
VoiceThread as a way of communicating with each other about the various
tasks.
• Create a VoiceThread that contains photos of various historical figures. Then
have the students comment on the individual pictures, as if they were the
historical figure adding in factual details about that person’s life.
• Embed a VoiceThread on your class blog the night after Parent Orientation.
Using your presentation from the previous night as your slideshow. Parents can
then add their questions and concerns that inevitably arise the next day.
4. VoiceThread-How will this help my
students?
• VoiceThread provides your students with the opportunity to
collaborate with one another without having to be in the same
room.
• Since VoiceThread is virtual, it can provide students with the
freedom to express themselves without having to be fearful of
speaking in front of the class.
• If a student is absent and misses a class discussion, he/she can
listen to the class reflections online and have a better
understanding of missed concepts.
• VoiceThread can also help YOU! Depending on the
concept/standard you can create a VoiceThread that could serve
as a summative assessment. (It would work great for oral
reading and counting!) Then you can listen to the student
responses at any time!
5. Other Great Voice Tools:
If VoiceThread isn’t enough, here are some other great
“voice” tools that can be used in your classroom:
• With the use of http://www.podomatic.com/login and
Audacity (software already on your computer) you can
create Podcasts!
• With the use of http://www.voki.com/ create your own
talking avatars!
• With the use of http://blabberize.com/ create your
own talking photos!
