History And Processes Of Digital Manufacturing
A company called 'Stratasys'said that Digital Manufacturing is a manufacturing method that
supplements weaknesses of traditional production processes. It helps delivery times and production
costs decrease with prototypes and final parts directly from CAD data while developing
synchronical product quality. (Stratasys, unknown)
As furniture industry becomes developed, digital manufacturing has taken a important place in the
industry. Therefore, this essay will illustrate the history and processes of the manufacturing and
features of objects that made through digital manufacturing.
Zode.z, Shane.X and Dejun.C argued that From the period of 1980s, lots of new ways of digital
manufacturing come out such as Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), Automated
Manufacturing . (Zode.z et al, 2011: 2)
These new notions make it easier for us to analyze and predict the future of manufacturing, and
these improve the ability to analyze future manufacturing.
Since this era, Digital manufacturing has become a science including a wide range of sections of
science such as information science, engineering science and so on rather than a only technology.
(Zode.z et al, 2011: 2)
Donn.S (2014) said that as this technique has developed, it gave us numerous benefits in produce
product to designers, manufacturers and the world.
Firstly, using digital manufacturing could prevent waste of energy and materials as this process does
not use unnecessary things rather than mass production.

New Advancements Of Three Dimensional Printing Technology
Every day there are new advancements in three–dimensional printing technology. Development
started in the mid–seventies but was abandoned because many scientists and engineers thought
three–dimensional printing was not a good investment. Since scientists and researchers have begun
exploring this technology again, three–dimensional printing has varied in applications from
prostheses to food and is used in the construction of some buildings. Versions of the printer have
even been made now so anyone can own a three–dimensional printer. Although three–dimensional
printing has not yet reached its full potential, society has started to benefit from this technology
even though there are still some negatives, such as the effort it will take to ... Show more content on

The most helpful technique used in additive manufacturing is computer–aided design, CAD,
because the individual can make sure there are no errors with the design before the object gets
printed (Dodzuik 284). According to Helena Dodziuk, an expert in Spectroscopy, Theoretical
Chemistry, and Supramolecular Chemistry, "What is very important, 3DP allows one to manufacture
in a single run, objects that are impossible to obtain by any other fabrication method" and that
additive manufacturing allows for multi–part objects be printed in one run, which is also impossible
by other manufacturing methods (1). Her remarks show how three–dimensional printing is changing
manufacturing for the better.
The last step in the process is the printing. During the printing phase, there are multiple ways the
object can be formed. The first way the object can be formed is by melted material being dropped
carefully into the shape of the object ("3D printer" para. 1). Instead of material being dropped into
the shape, the object can also be formed by ultraviolet lights hardening the liquid one layer at a time
("3D printer" para. 1). The final way the object can be printed is that a laser heats a powder, which
then hardens into the object's shape. While the printing process seems quite long

Lexa Clarke's Struggle Between Class Breaks
The first moment that Clarke had a reasonably sized break between classes, assignments, her
friends, and of course, Lexa, she bolted to the local CVS. Sure, there were a million other places she
could print photos, but she honestly didn't have the time and after all, it was right down the block. It
took her over an hour to scroll through them all, selecting the ones she wanted to print from the ones
that were deemed too blurry. She moved some of her favorites to the top of the print list, namely one
that involved Lexa's joyous face in clear focus, her hair flying out behind her as she spun her head
too fast to look at Clarke. Waiting for all the pictures to print was agony, and Clarke was hoping to
get back to the dorm before Lexa's study group ended so that she could ... Show more content on

She tried to lighten the eventual load by studying what had already been taught, but even that
seemed too much to study at once. Lexa was a big help, as always. She patiently helped Clarke
break down her studying into sections, taking each one a day at a time, despite Clarke's insistence
that Lexa should focus on her own upcoming exams. The weekend couldn't have come soon enough
for the both of them, and Clarke was happy to wake up early that Saturday morning. They spent a
slow time getting ready, knowing that they would need the sun to warm up the air unless they
wanted their hands to go stiff in the wind. It wasn't until around nine that they finally piled into
Lexa's car, backpacks loaded with water and peanut butter sandwiches. Lexa rolled down the
windows, letting the cool morning breeze wake them up. The further they got from the city the
better smelling the air became, until Clarke was breathing in deep heavy breaths. "It smells just like

Library Synthesis Essay
They say that you cannot judge a book by its cover. Increasingly in the United States, you also
cannot judge a library's value to its community by simply its books. In today's society we observe
the changes that have occurred throughout time; one of them being technology. Technology has
infiltrated every aspect in our lives and it has changed the way we access and receive information,
which presents major challenges and opportunities for public library systems across the world.
These new technologies have changed our reading habits, but our need for public space to find
information and connect with others is unlikely to change any time soon. To survive in the digital
age and stay relevant, public libraries have adapted to the new trends of how we read, work and
socialize, and have become even more prevalent in these changing times. ... Show more content on

For many years, libraries have persevered through time and still remain key to the academic world.
Many changes have occurred in the past and more are to come, but the one thing that history has
shown us is that it is perfectly normal to hope that libraries will persevere for a long time. As a
matter of fact, there is evidence that libraries are changing rapidly. They are offering a wide range of
other media and modern technologies like, videos, audio books, e–books, DVD's and microsoft
Excel classes (Source B). Many believe that libraries only serve as storage for books, but libraries
are more than that, They serve as the center of academic discourse, a resource for many, and storage
of information in all forms. There is a lot of potential for public libraries because they serve as the
bridge between the "new" and "old" world, separated by the rapid development of

Personal Narrative Analysis
Paper vs. pixel? In this case I have to go old school, I personally say paper is NOT dead. While I
tend to embrace most things that technology has to offer, I have not embraced the digital text fully
yet, at least for reading text. Full disclosure, I print out every single article that we need to read for
this class, sit down with a highlighter and go to town. I agree with Fabr in that there is "physicality
in reading." I need to hold the paper and put the highlighter on the page. When I do read on a tablet,
I'm not sure I retain as deeply, as the Fabr piece contends.
Again, this may also be surprising coming from the person in charge of paying the copying bills for
our district, but I don't really advocate for a paperless classroom. While I certainly think we could
copy/print much less, I would advocate for a little of both, some paper and some digital. I agreed
with many of the points both authors raise but in different ways. For myself, as a learner, I learn
better with text in hand, yet we can't discount some of the digital literacy skills that Leu brings to
our attention and the implications for our students. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think this is exactly why it is hard for teachers to integrate these skills given that the nature of
reading and digital literacy are rapidly changing given the ever changing tools and platforms that
technology affords. Leu begins by saying that the internet is the defining learning technology for the

What Are The Five Forces Analysis Of The Toy Industry
According to Statista, a statistic tracking website on global revenues and market shares the global
revenue of the global toy market was $84.1bn in 2012, and the U.S. toy market size was estimated
to be worth 21.18bn. (http://www.statista.com/statistics/194395/revenue–of–the–global–toy–
market–since–2007/) In conducting a five forces analysis of the toy industry as it currently stands,
we must look at all five forces that affect competition. This includes factors affecting the strength of
buyer bargaining power, factors affecting competition from substitute parts, factors affecting the
strength of supplier bargaining power, factors affecting the threat of entry, and finally factors
affecting the strength of competitive rivalry. In terms of factors affecting the strength of buyer
bargaining power, the buyer bargaining power is weak. Buyers purchase the toys infrequently and in
small quantities. The average seller isn't going to be buying pallets of a certain toy; they want to
purchase just what they need and the same goes for frequency of purchase. Also the costs are often
fluctuating due to competing brands and substitute products. In some instances the seller's brand
reputation is important to the buyer, for example there may be multiple block toys to play with but
some kids may not be satisfied playing with "knock off" Legos, and may only want to purchase the
real thing (same with Barbie's, or other well–known toys). Bargaining power can also be high at
times as the

The Impact Of 3d Printing On The Digital And Consumer...
1. Introduction
Additive layer manufacturing, also known as Three– Dimensional (3D) printing, provides a unique
fabrication process that allows users to produce structurally complex components by the successive
fusion of layers [1]. This technique offers businesses and consumers the ability to quickly develop
custom components on demand and at a lower economical cost [2]. In 2016, a
PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) report indicates that, out of 71% of US manufactures
implementing 3D printing and 42% believe the volume of 3D printer use will increase in the next
three to five years [3].
The impact of 3D printing can already be seen in both industrial and consumer markets [2]. The
2015 Wohlers Associates report stated that 32.5% of all Additive manufactured objects were used
for functional components. Additionally, the report detailed the 3D printing industry accounted for
$5.165 billion of revenue [4]. The aviation, medical, automotive, and manufacturing industries are
currently utilizing 3D printing [4–9]. Airbus, within the aviation industry, recently produced the
world's largest 3D printed cabin component. The component produced is a dividing wall that sits
between the passenger seating and galley. General Electric is currently 3D printing jet engine fuel
nozzles and forecast that 100,000 parts will be created by their Aviation division using 3D printers
by 2020 [10]. Since 2014 NASA has been researching the ability to print on demand components in

Persuasive Speech On Counterfeit
Nobody would like it if I had the ability to forge or counterfeit everyone's valuables and render them
worthless, especially not the money you bust your ass all week, every week to earn. This would be
catastrophic and would leave you wondering why..... Why should you kill yourselves in your jobs
trying to get to the top of the metaphorical totem pole, to earn the 'big bucks', if I could sit in my
basement and continuously print off 20, 50 or 100 euro notes with the press of a button. This would
just be unfair and would cause quite a stir I imagine, this is why there are numerous agencies around
the world that are working to counteract those criminals (like me) from depreciating the value of
your cash and causing mas inflation in the prices of products, like the IACC (International Anti–
Counterfeiting Coalition), GACG (Global Anti–Counterfeit Network), as well as the collaboration

Is Technology Destroying Graphic Design As An Art Form?
Is Technology destroying Graphic Design as an art form?
I 'm a Graphic Designer; this isn 't a boast or an admonishment, its simple fact. I don 't believe that I
could do my job without technology. This may seem like a bold assertion as I 'm not the first and
certainly won 't be the last. I was born into a generation of technology, it influences nearly
everything I do and also my career. What would happen If I was theoretically born 100 or even 50
years earlier? Would technology still play a big part in my career? Is this something designers have
struggled with since the dawn of graphic design?
I aim to discover whether there is a disconnect between a designer and his/her work in the modern
era. Is this due to technological advances and does the artisan designer now have the advantage? In
a world filled with computer literate designers, has this created a new place for artisans due to it
being a more niche craft? Is design today more about corporate greed than about the greater good as
it was in the early 20th century? How can technology be utilised to help the masses and if people
feel that it's ruining or empowering traditionally skilled workers.
I will investigate if the proliferation of cheap home computers has actually enhanced the graphic
design industry or merely diluted it. This topic in itself has me polarised, I am also of the belief that
anyone with a computer can be classified as a graphic designer. I would like to investigate whether
this is an issue

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electronic Media
1.0 Introduction
In the 1970s and 1980s, books, newspapers, and magazines were printed on large presses by
national and multinational publishing houses. Print was a flourishing industry that had managed to
overcome any challengers, including television and the radio. Any legitimate writer, academic
researcher, scientist, or journalist was published in print. For those seeking the most up–to–date,
respected, and accurate information, books, periodicals, and newspapers were the chosen source.
This is as it had been for many years, and it seemed that this would be so for hundreds of years to
come. Until, when in the early 1990s, a relatively unheard of new technology called the Internet,
which had begun in the early 1960s as a government and scientific computer network, began to
emerge on college campuses and in other areas (Courtright, ... Show more content on

converged or digital media would take over or supplant the old media, nevertheless then the old

television, while the attraction of internet and web cannot fully overtake the fascination of
newspapers and magazines, because nowadays we can see that people are still buying newspaper
and hard copy books since it fulfils their needs and fits in their lifestyle. Digital media have not
replaced printed media, but they have taken over a large portion of the audience. As, technological
innovations surface and are adopted into our daily lives, old habits do change. One thing that will
not change is the audience's desire to get news, information and entertainment via mass media,

The Last Bookshop
The Last Bookshop
It is another cloudy and grey day in my town; as usual I open my bookshop, just in case that one
customer comes. Books are getting old you know, people just don't seem to like them anymore, now
that there is this new holographic gaming, internet, television stuff. I haven't had a customer for 25
years 2 months and 6 days, but I open my bookshop hoping someone will come...
I own the last bookshop in the whole world. I have got thousands of books and all of my books are
5th or 6th handed, they are very old, even older than me and I am nearly 70 years old. People used
to give me books from people who had died or didn't want their books.
It is around the year 2070; the world has changed so much since I was a boy. There is so much new
technology, most devices you can control with hand movements, it amazes me. These days a book is
almost as rare as a type writer was in the year 2014, and so is cold hard cash. Anyway that's enough
introducing from me; let me tell you the rest of my story...
It was in the afternoon of this cold and grey day, I was minding my own business, putting the books
on their shelf and tidying up the place. I saw a book in the middle of the shelf half sticking out, how
unusual I thought to myself. Then I started to hear footsteps run down the stairs. So I try to find the
person to give them their book.
Finally I found him, a school boy standing right in front of me,
"You're here" I said

Wenny Has Wings Analysis
"Wenny Has Wings," written by Janet Lee Carey shares a powerful message of dealing with grief
and loss, shown entirely through every journal entry the main character, Will North, writes to his
deceased sister Wenny. Will speaks from his soul in a certain way only a child can, "I miss you hard,
with an ache in my stomach and a sandpaper feeling all down my throat. I miss you like a big,
empty, shut–up, quiet space torn out of my guts, and nothing can patch up that great big ugly hole
you left."
When I first picked this book up, it was at a used book sale in a warehouse. It sold for fifty cents.
Never would I have thought that a book selling for a half–dollar would stick with me my entire life.
Never would I imagine coming back to this story, and reliving the feelings of Will in times where
my life became stressful or consumed by grief. Janet Lee Carey has such an amazing way of telling
the story of a near–death experience and helping Will's feelings reach the reader in a personal
manner, almost as if the book is speaking to the individual.
I see the book as an old friend, one whose pages have yellowed, and the spine, broken and split from
being handled so many times. Every page of the book is stiff from use, yet surprisingly not wrinkled
from water damage. In recent years, this book has sat on my shelf, stuffed away to the top, hidden
by newer and less important stories. Yet, like everything well loved, it came back when I needed it
most in my life. "Wenny has Wings", spoke to me when I was young, and now the story speaks to
me as I lose friends, find new beginnings, and feel what it means to lose someone.
The last time I read Will's tale was in 2013 when my grandfather suddenly passed away. I remember
the feeling of grief and for some time I didn't know how to deal with the loss since it was my first
experience with death. I remember sitting at my kitchen table. Dad had picked me up from school
that day, which was an odd occurrence since that duty usually belonged to my mom. When we
pulled into the garage, Mom wasn't home yet. Her not being home was odd, especially since she
was always home by 4:30 and it was nearing 5:00. It wasn't until we reached the top of the steps and
had sat down to eat when Dad

ABSTRACT: In this paper, we are going to study about various tools and technique of image
processing which are now available for the detection or identification of the printing technology.
Now days, the identification in the printing technology and the various problem which are
associated with the document forensics have been a major challenges in the image processing
application. There are many approaches on image processing which are based on HSV, spatial
correlation, colour space, texture. There are also some method for pattern recognition like,
roughness of the text, grey level co–occurrence matrix, perimeter of edge is being highlighted. In
this paper, we have focused more on one of the recent contribution which is, Gaussian Variogram
Model (GVM) for the classification of the paper.

The Production Of Books Changed Over The Last Twenty Five...
Introduction
I. Research Question and Objectives How has the production of books changed over the last
twenty–five years? The focus of this paper is exploring the environmental effects of book
production, the impact of the literary revolution, the changes in popularity of genres and authors,
well known publishing companies and changes in book usage.
II. Thesis Statement With multiple advancements in the production of books over the last several
centuries, the era of book digitization is our most current look into the future of the book industry.
III. Background "A book exists, simultaneously, as a physical object, a sign system, the end product
of diverse arts and labors, and the starting point for intercultural and intracultural communication" –
Cathy Davidson (1988). Written word has survived centuries, dating back to 2400 BC, and
progressing over time to become what we now know as books (Florida State University, 2007).
From papyrus scrolls and vegetable–fiber paper, the introduction of the paper mill, and type printing
and etchings, books have come a long way. The biggest advancement in the production of books
was the printing press, created by Johannes Gutenburg, which supplied authors with an efficient and
effective way to publish their work. Since Gutenberg's printing press, the book industry had been
stagnant until the introduction of the Internet which brought upon a literary revolution.

kinds of marketing opportunities are available to use on GoodReads. Let's go over the opportunities.
Giveaways: This is the most popular marketing option for authors on Goodreads. Giveaways draw a
lot of attention and visibility, especially if you have an active reader base.
Blog: Goodreads provides another avenue to sync your blog free of charge to spread your message
even further. Authors (and readers) can publish their reviews to their WordPress blog. This is an
opportunity to cut down on creating content for your blog while also showcasing your interest in the
genre of your target audience.
Promote your events: This option is particularly valuable if you are an author with a book launch,
book tours, and other events and an active audience (meaning people who would be willing to come
to an event). You can share these author events, free of charge, with your audience. (One exception
to the rule are virtual book tours which may work for an online book

Edmund Dulac was a prominent artist from the Golden Age of Illustration. Born in Toulouse in
1882, Dulac moved to England at the age of 20 where he spent most of his career. Since his first
commission his career flourished and he was in tremendous demand from publishers. Dulac is best
known for his enchanting illustrations of fairy tales and children's stories, his most famous works
include illustrations for The Arabian Nights, Sleeping Beauty and Stories from Hans Christen

Dulac made many rough sketches and once he had chosen a preferred design, and thought about the

The Pros and Cons of On-line Newspapers
The Benefits and Disadvantages of On–line Newspapers
For centuries, newspapers have provided the world with up–to–date, useful information. During the
World Wars, America turned to the printed press to receive reports, as the newspapers were a vital
source of information for the public; however, over the last sixty years newspapers have evolved
from more than just tangible chunks of paper that can be sold on a street corner.
Today, international newspapers can be found in mere seconds with a simple click of the mouse. In
fact, many digital media experts believe that the second phase of the online newspaper phenomenon,
called "Digital Delivery Daily," will soon be upon us. If it works, consumers may soon see many

It is my belief that the internet will never reach its full potential due to the illegal acts of hackers and
their computer viruses. The internet is full of endless possibilities that are beneficial to every age
and race; however, the digital world will not benefit from the hackers and viruses running rampant
on the internet. As conditions on the internet are currently, newspaper companies will in all
probability end up spending more time, money, and effort than is necessary. On November 7, 1996,
or Election Night, at least one hacker attempted to shut down the New York Times on the Web.
Although the Times was able to prevent this attack, accessibility was slowed for the remainder of
the night. While it is obvious that digital news media is often majorly affected by the acts of
hackers, the extent of this problem also reaches far beyond the techno–news world. For example, the
World Wide Web site of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was damaged by a group of hackers
on September 19, 1996. When CIA officials checked the page Thursday night, all that could be
found was graffiti (Harper 1998).
"Worms" are also another factor that may someday cause the digital media world to collapse. A
worm, unlike a virus, is actually able to circulate without the assistance of a carrier program. And to
make matters worse, the

Ancient Chinese Research Paper
Chinese Cultural Assignment
Four Great Ancient Chinese Inventions:
The ancient Chinese civilisation developed four of the most important technologies used in modern
times;
Paper:
Before the year 105 AD, books were written on bones, tortoise shells and bamboo slips. This posed
a big problem to people wanting to learn as well as teachers because not only did you have to be
intelligent to read but you also had to be strong enough to turn the pages. In 105 AD the Chinese
eunuch Cai Lun made the first type of paper from bark, cloth and used fishnet. Not only did this
amazing invention make books lighter but it also made books more widely available to anyone as
these materials were much cheaper than things like silk.

Designing A Three Dimensional Object From A Bundle Model
3d–Printing
Introduction
3D printing, also referred as additive manufacturing assembling, is essentially a technique for
making a three–dimensional object from a bundle model. The object may be of pretty much any
structure. In additive manufacturing technique, an item to be composed is assembled from the base–
up by adding it to layers of the improvement material. The additive manufacturing procedure is
distinctive from the subtractive procedure, where material is evacuated from a square by strategies
such as chiseling or penetrating. The primary material used in the improvement of 3D items is
plastic, however as of late, there has also been a huge number of development toward utilizing
optional materials like metals of different sorts and also natural matter like carbon and its changed
subordinates (Bhandari, 2014).
Background "Hideo Kodama" of Nayoga Municipal Industrial Research Institute is mostly
considered to have printed the first strong object from an advanced outline of 3D printing. But still
the credit for the initial 3D printer mostly goes to Charles Hull, who in 1984 planned it while
working for the organization he established, 3D Systems Corp. Charles Hull was a pioneer of the
strong imaging procedure known as stereo lithography and the STL (stereo lithographic) record
group which is still the most broadly utilized organization today as a part of 3D printing. He is

How Reading Changed My Life By Anna Quindlen
Reading today is a lot different then it was in the year 868 AD; when the first book was published in
China. You know a written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one
side and bound in covers. Society today is so advanced that everything we do is constantly changing
whether we realize it or not. For example, the book, before people would go to a bookstore or
library to get the books they were interested in. Today society is making fewer trips to the bookstore
and library, and making purchases of novels on their e–readers in the comfort of their own home.
With these e–readers you can simply purchase any book you would like, some books being under a

Reading is a nice way to just sit back and let your imagination be free. In an article titled "How
Reading changed my Life" by Anna Quindlen she goes on to talk about how it shaped her as a
person and it helps strengthen emotional connectedness. In her book she states, "Socrates was
wrong: a reader learns what he or she does not know from books, what has passed and yet is forever
present through print". Ultimately, its about having this joy where we can just grab a book escape
and lose yourself in the book, to get lost in the print forgetting about any matters going on in ones
life. Being lost and having no care in the world are the reasons to want to grab a book and develop
our minds, books will also help shape who we are due to the fact that when we read we are
constantly learning new things and educating ourselves. Romanticism can be a feeling used to
describe how a reader feels when cracking a brand new book open, the smell of the ink on paper and
the creases a book acquires from constant use are physical evidence of the journey the book has

Digital Technology, is it a curse or a blessing for the graphic designer?
Are you a Graphic Designer? Do you look forward to your next trip to the Apple Store? It 's safe to
say that Digital Technology has become an obsession in the world of design. Macbook 's, iPad 's,
digital camera 's and printer 's. All sounds pretty normal to us and most of the time we take our hi–
tech gadgets for granted. But around 100 years ago things were very different. Digital technology
hadn 't been invented and graphic designers had to use very different ways and methods of design.
So was it any easier then or as the digital technology of our world progressed has it became easier
for graphic designers?

Just like the way a calculator gives you the ability to calculate a tangent it still does not make you

doing so.
The Macintosh computer was released in January of 1984.[7] (See Fig.6) As one of the first type
designers to exploit the potential of the Apple Macintosh in its pre–designer days, Zuzana Licko
transformed the pixel from low–resolution imitation to high–style original.[8] Rudy Vanderlans (See

interview with Vanderlans he had this to say "We were unhappy with our regular jobs, we saw an
opportunity to start our own company, and ran with it. It was a tediously slow process that would
make for some very boring reading when retold in detail. Let 's just say we were very naive, and we
worked very long days. And ultimately it was all propelled to a higher level by our early adoption of
the Macintosh computer as a design tool when it was first introduced."[9] They widely used the
macintosh computer as the main tool for the design of their magazine, Emigre. (See Fig.8)

Nautilus 'Paper Versus Pixels'
Digital reading has become one of two standard methods of reading. The other standard, the original
standard, is print reading. Both digital and print are preferred over the each other amongst many
groups of people. American writer and author of Nautilus article "Paper Versus Pixels", Nicholas
Carr expounds upon the journey of print through time, alongside the technological revolution, and
discusses the future of paper reading in society. Carr's article persuades his audience to consider the
actual differences between paper and digital reading – understanding that the two are simply
incomparable – and his arguments can be validated with the research conducted by one sources on a

reading preference. He expresses the mobile, spatial and access efficiency of owning an e–reading

preference between print and digital. According to Minzesheimer's sources, e–books are the
preferred method of reading and e–readers are actually quite popular, especially considering
accessibility. "According to the (USA Today) poll, 35% of those with reading devices say they're
reading more books since they got their reading devices" (Minzesheimer, Life). The ability of
having a large library tucked away in purse or briefcase is appealing to avid readers and allows them
to breeze through book after book tirelessly. Minzesheimer does briefly acknowledge the existing
preference of paperback books, quoting a source who explains that print reading is easier to focus

Paperless Tickets
As a sports fan, what do you think of paperless tickets to attend a sporting event?
I believe paperless tickets are useful, considering that it provides a new, efficient, and alternative
way to accelerate the process of validating your ticket at a venue. I recently had an experience with
paperless tickets when I went to the Knicks vs. Wizards games about two weeks ago. Before
attending the game I had the tasks of printing out the tickets that my friend paid for. On the

The Aesthetic Bookishness By Jessica Pressman
"The Aesthetic Bookishness" in 21st century literature" is an article written by Jessica Pressman.
Published in 2009, the article discusses the paper book alleged ending and the consequences of this
idea on literature itself.
The "death" of printed, material books has always been a highly discussed topic. With the rise of
technology, this eventuality has been gaining importance amongst readers. The question arising
from Pressman's article deals with the preoccupation of the end of the paper book and its influence
of literature. This growing anxiety is not only a main source of inspiration for authors and writers, it
is also an experimentation catalyst.

Paradoxically, the acknowledgment of such a threat motivates innovation. Just as digital literature
exploits book related elements, bookishness aesthetic exploits digital elements to insure its
innovative character and thus its existence.
With the growth of the digital era, books have become a medium amongst others to get information
and access knowledge. This triggered an aesthetic and literary response. If books are just one of the
ways to access knowledge, they will change in order to fulfil something the reader cannot get from
other mediums. That explains why the physicality of the book is crucial since the form and the
literary content are deeply connected.
To illustrate her point, Jessica Pressman builds her analysis on The Raw Shark Texts (2007), a novel
by Steven Hall. The novel appears as a mystery novel at first glance since the main character suffers
from a memory and therefore identity loss. Nonetheless, the novel also underlines how viral and
invisible information due to the advancement of technology is a menacing threat which needs to be
combated by printed narratives. This novel is a literary response to the fear of the presumed death of

Strengths And Weaknesses Of E-Books
Jakob Nielsen had expressed his views. His found out that, reading e–books with a small screen,
such as a mobile phone, the user suff on a variety of e–books and have read the contexts but they are

In the human evolutionary process, people own a pairs of eyes which is sensitivity to space, so the

However, read an e–books and there is no elements for you to refer, especially those to scroll the

context that you have read. That such an e–book will make you sick up on reading.

Language Should be Regulated in Books
Quotes about books and their importance to the society are many, and one can never imagine that
the same books have content that should not reach a certain public. Martin Luther King once said
that if one needed to change the world, the only thing they had to do is to pick a pen and write. Why
then would language become such a huge issue when writing books? Like movies, some books
require parental guidance because their sexual, political, socio–cultural, and legal content should not
reach a certain audience. Ethical and legal issues apply when governments or institutions decide to

However, not all books need buyers since some authors or activists often write books just to create
awareness about something. "Out of Africa" is a book written in the 90s that covers the experience
of an author in the Ebola stricken Congo. Besides educating people about Ebola, the book had very
entertaining information, but profiling Congo out of other countries had a significant impact on the
sale of the book in the West African region. Issues of racial profiling and discrimination of the black
continent arose, and it was difficult for the author to defend her position only saying that she
reported facts through a book (Dettori and Persico 82). As an expression of art, the book needed
acceptance, but some publics could not accept it because they felt that it ethically violated their
principles. Books that many authors distribute free include the ones that discuss environmental
concerns, disease break outs, and technological advancements. Ethical concerns remain prevalent,
especially in books today because of their availability in electronic content through online retailers
such as Amazon. Critics of the online bookstore blame it for promoting the sale of books with
pornographic content, socio–cultural profiling, and political issues such as "Wikileaks." As such, the
ethical context is an important aspect of the discussion and is one reason language should be
censored.

Most small offices purchase an all in one inkjet printer which means that this printer can print from

the internet. Printers need to be connected to a computer or computer network either wirelessly or
through a cable to be able to print documents from one or more computers. Big company have often

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Renting A Coper Rentals
Virtually all offices have copier machines that employees use for their daily maneuvers. However,
maximum of these businesses do not categorically purchase their own machines. Rather, they just
rent copier machines from other firms. What makes copier rentals so prevalent? Is it actually a
superior option than buying your own copier unit? The answer for maximum businesses is yes, there
are lots of advantages when opting for copier rentals than essentially purchasing a unit for their
workplace.
At the outset, if you purchase your own copier machine or even toner cartridge, you will have the
solitary accountability of maintenance, overhauls and other such errands that could take a lot of your
valued time and effort. If you use a copier machine on rent, you will have enormously less
apprehension about these problems. Maximum copier rental supplier or firms offer free service and

procedures, either in dental laboratories or in the dental practice. Some of the many benefits related

It will also outline the advantages and disadvantages of using such technologies in dental practice.
The term 'CAD/CAM' stands for Computer–Aided Design/Computer–Aided Manufacturing and has
been used in many healthcare fields, particularly in dentistry. All CAD/CAM systems consist of
three components: a digitalised scanner which transforms geometry into digital data that is
processed by the computer; software that processes data for a product to be fabricated and a
production technology which transforms the data to the designed product which can be either an
optical or mechanical scanner. Optical scanners use a source of light (e.g. laser) to obtain positive
3D reproductions of dental impressions and casts, eliminating the need for an impression.
Mechanical scanners measure casts mechanically by the presence of the ruby ball which is set to the
smallest grinder in the milling system. It has an inordinately complicated mechanics, which can be
very time consuming and expensive compared to optical systems. Depending upon the position of
the components in a CAD/CAM system, there are three production theories: chairside production;
laboratory production and centralised production. Currently 3D printing technology or 'additive
manufacturing' offers a number of products in the dental industry. Additive manufacturing is the
process involving joining

  • 2. History And Processes Of Digital Manufacturing A company called 'Stratasys'said that Digital Manufacturing is a manufacturing method that supplements weaknesses of traditional production processes. It helps delivery times and production costs decrease with prototypes and final parts directly from CAD data while developing synchronical product quality. (Stratasys, unknown) As furniture industry becomes developed, digital manufacturing has taken a important place in the industry. Therefore, this essay will illustrate the history and processes of the manufacturing and features of objects that made through digital manufacturing. Zode.z, Shane.X and Dejun.C argued that From the period of 1980s, lots of new ways of digital manufacturing come out such as Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), Automated Manufacturing . (Zode.z et al, 2011: 2) These new notions make it easier for us to analyze and predict the future of manufacturing, and these improve the ability to analyze future manufacturing. Since this era, Digital manufacturing has become a science including a wide range of sections of science such as information science, engineering science and so on rather than a only technology. (Zode.z et al, 2011: 2) Donn.S (2014) said that as this technique has developed, it gave us numerous benefits in produce product to designers, manufacturers and the world. Firstly, using digital manufacturing could prevent waste of energy and materials as this process does not use unnecessary things rather than mass production. Secondly, In ... • 3. New Advancements Of Three Dimensional Printing Technology Every day there are new advancements in three–dimensional printing technology. Development started in the mid–seventies but was abandoned because many scientists and engineers thought three–dimensional printing was not a good investment. Since scientists and researchers have begun exploring this technology again, three–dimensional printing has varied in applications from prostheses to food and is used in the construction of some buildings. Versions of the printer have even been made now so anyone can own a three–dimensional printer. Although three–dimensional printing has not yet reached its full potential, society has started to benefit from this technology even though there are still some negatives, such as the effort it will take to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most helpful technique used in additive manufacturing is computer–aided design, CAD, because the individual can make sure there are no errors with the design before the object gets printed (Dodzuik 284). According to Helena Dodziuk, an expert in Spectroscopy, Theoretical Chemistry, and Supramolecular Chemistry, "What is very important, 3DP allows one to manufacture in a single run, objects that are impossible to obtain by any other fabrication method" and that additive manufacturing allows for multi–part objects be printed in one run, which is also impossible by other manufacturing methods (1). Her remarks show how three–dimensional printing is changing manufacturing for the better. The last step in the process is the printing. During the printing phase, there are multiple ways the object can be formed. The first way the object can be formed is by melted material being dropped carefully into the shape of the object ("3D printer" para. 1). Instead of material being dropped into the shape, the object can also be formed by ultraviolet lights hardening the liquid one layer at a time ("3D printer" para. 1). The final way the object can be printed is that a laser heats a powder, which then hardens into the object's shape. While the printing process seems quite long ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Lexa Clarke's Struggle Between Class Breaks The first moment that Clarke had a reasonably sized break between classes, assignments, her friends, and of course, Lexa, she bolted to the local CVS. Sure, there were a million other places she could print photos, but she honestly didn't have the time and after all, it was right down the block. It took her over an hour to scroll through them all, selecting the ones she wanted to print from the ones that were deemed too blurry. She moved some of her favorites to the top of the print list, namely one that involved Lexa's joyous face in clear focus, her hair flying out behind her as she spun her head too fast to look at Clarke. Waiting for all the pictures to print was agony, and Clarke was hoping to get back to the dorm before Lexa's study group ended so that she could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She tried to lighten the eventual load by studying what had already been taught, but even that seemed too much to study at once. Lexa was a big help, as always. She patiently helped Clarke break down her studying into sections, taking each one a day at a time, despite Clarke's insistence that Lexa should focus on her own upcoming exams. The weekend couldn't have come soon enough for the both of them, and Clarke was happy to wake up early that Saturday morning. They spent a slow time getting ready, knowing that they would need the sun to warm up the air unless they wanted their hands to go stiff in the wind. It wasn't until around nine that they finally piled into Lexa's car, backpacks loaded with water and peanut butter sandwiches. Lexa rolled down the windows, letting the cool morning breeze wake them up. The further they got from the city the better smelling the air became, until Clarke was breathing in deep heavy breaths. "It smells just like camping, maybe even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Library Synthesis Essay They say that you cannot judge a book by its cover. Increasingly in the United States, you also cannot judge a library's value to its community by simply its books. In today's society we observe the changes that have occurred throughout time; one of them being technology. Technology has infiltrated every aspect in our lives and it has changed the way we access and receive information, which presents major challenges and opportunities for public library systems across the world. These new technologies have changed our reading habits, but our need for public space to find information and connect with others is unlikely to change any time soon. To survive in the digital age and stay relevant, public libraries have adapted to the new trends of how we read, work and socialize, and have become even more prevalent in these changing times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For many years, libraries have persevered through time and still remain key to the academic world. Many changes have occurred in the past and more are to come, but the one thing that history has shown us is that it is perfectly normal to hope that libraries will persevere for a long time. As a matter of fact, there is evidence that libraries are changing rapidly. They are offering a wide range of other media and modern technologies like, videos, audio books, e–books, DVD's and microsoft Excel classes (Source B). Many believe that libraries only serve as storage for books, but libraries are more than that, They serve as the center of academic discourse, a resource for many, and storage of information in all forms. There is a lot of potential for public libraries because they serve as the bridge between the "new" and "old" world, separated by the rapid development of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Personal Narrative Analysis Paper vs. pixel? In this case I have to go old school, I personally say paper is NOT dead. While I tend to embrace most things that technology has to offer, I have not embraced the digital text fully yet, at least for reading text. Full disclosure, I print out every single article that we need to read for this class, sit down with a highlighter and go to town. I agree with Fabr in that there is "physicality in reading." I need to hold the paper and put the highlighter on the page. When I do read on a tablet, I'm not sure I retain as deeply, as the Fabr piece contends. Again, this may also be surprising coming from the person in charge of paying the copying bills for our district, but I don't really advocate for a paperless classroom. While I certainly think we could copy/print much less, I would advocate for a little of both, some paper and some digital. I agreed with many of the points both authors raise but in different ways. For myself, as a learner, I learn better with text in hand, yet we can't discount some of the digital literacy skills that Leu brings to our attention and the implications for our students. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think this is exactly why it is hard for teachers to integrate these skills given that the nature of reading and digital literacy are rapidly changing given the ever changing tools and platforms that technology affords. (http://www.statista.com/statistics/194395/revenue–of–the–global–toy– market–since–2007/) In conducting a five forces analysis of the toy industry as it currently stands, we must look at all five forces that affect competition. This includes factors affecting the strength of buyer bargaining power, factors affecting competition from substitute parts, factors affecting the strength of supplier bargaining power, factors affecting the threat of entry, and finally factors affecting the strength of competitive rivalry. In terms of factors affecting the strength of buyer bargaining power, the buyer bargaining power is weak. Buyers purchase the toys infrequently and in small quantities. The average seller isn't going to be buying pallets of a certain toy; they want to purchase just what they need and the same goes for frequency of purchase. Also the costs are often fluctuating due to competing brands and substitute products. In some instances the seller's brand reputation is important to the buyer, for example there may be multiple block toys to play with but some kids may not be satisfied playing with "knock off" Legos, and may only want to purchase the real thing (same with Barbie's, or other well–known toys). Bargaining power can also be high at times as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I 'm a Graphic Designer; this isn 't a boast or an admonishment, its simple fact. I don 't believe that I could do my job without technology. This may seem like a bold assertion as I 'm not the first and certainly won 't be the last. I was born into a generation of technology, it influences nearly everything I do and also my career. What would happen If I was theoretically born 100 or even 50 years earlier? Would technology still play a big part in my career? Is this something designers have struggled with since the dawn of graphic design? I aim to discover whether there is a disconnect between a designer and his/her work in the modern era. Is this due to technological advances and does the artisan designer now have the advantage? In a world filled with computer literate designers, has this created a new place for artisans due to it being a more niche craft? Is design today more about corporate greed than about the greater good as it was in the early 20th century? How can technology be utilised to help the masses and if people feel that it's ruining or empowering traditionally skilled workers. I will investigate if the proliferation of cheap home computers has actually enhanced the graphic design industry or merely diluted it. • 17. The Last Bookshop The Last Bookshop It is another cloudy and grey day in my town; as usual I open my bookshop, just in case that one customer comes. Books are getting old you know, people just don't seem to like them anymore, now that there is this new holographic gaming, internet, television stuff. I haven't had a customer for 25 years 2 months and 6 days, but I open my bookshop hoping someone will come... I own the last bookshop in the whole world. I have got thousands of books and all of my books are 5th or 6th handed, they are very old, even older than me and I am nearly 70 years old. People used to give me books from people who had died or didn't want their books. It is around the year 2070; the world has changed so much since I was a boy. There is so much new technology, most devices you can control with hand movements, it amazes me. These days a book is almost as rare as a type writer was in the year 2014, and so is cold hard cash. Anyway that's enough introducing from me; let me tell you the rest of my story... It was in the afternoon of this cold and grey day, I was minding my own business, putting the books on their shelf and tidying up the place. • 18. Wenny Has Wings Analysis "Wenny Has Wings," written by Janet Lee Carey shares a powerful message of dealing with grief and loss, shown entirely through every journal entry the main character, Will North, writes to his deceased sister Wenny. Will speaks from his soul in a certain way only a child can, "I miss you hard, with an ache in my stomach and a sandpaper feeling all down my throat. I miss you like a big, empty, shut–up, quiet space torn out of my guts, and nothing can patch up that great big ugly hole you left." When I first picked this book up, it was at a used book sale in a warehouse. It sold for fifty cents. Never would I have thought that a book selling for a half–dollar would stick with me my entire life. Never would I imagine coming back to this story, and reliving the feelings of Will in times where my life became stressful or consumed by grief. Janet Lee Carey has such an amazing way of telling the story of a near–death experience and helping Will's feelings reach the reader in a personal manner, almost as if the book is speaking to the individual. I see the book as an old friend, one whose pages have yellowed, and the spine, broken and split from being handled so many times. Every page of the book is stiff from use, yet surprisingly not wrinkled from water damage. In recent years, this book has sat on my shelf, stuffed away to the top, hidden by newer and less important stories. Yet, like everything well loved, it came back when I needed it most in my life. "Wenny has Wings", spoke to me when I was young, and now the story speaks to me as I lose friends, find new beginnings, and feel what it means to lose someone. The last time I read Will's tale was in 2013 when my grandfather suddenly passed away. I remember the feeling of grief and for some time I didn't know how to deal with the loss since it was my first experience with death. I remember sitting at my kitchen table. Dad had picked me up from school that day, which was an odd occurrence since that duty usually belonged to my mom. When we pulled into the garage, Mom wasn't home yet. Written word has survived centuries, dating back to 2400 BC, and progressing over time to become what we now know as books (Florida State University, 2007). From papyrus scrolls and vegetable–fiber paper, the introduction of the paper mill, and type printing and etchings, books have come a long way. The biggest advancement in the production of books was the printing press, created by Johannes Gutenburg, which supplied authors with an efficient and effective way to publish their work. Since Gutenberg's printing press, the book industry had been stagnant until the introduction of the Internet which brought upon a literary revolution. Environmental ... The "death" of printed, material books has always been a highly discussed topic. With the rise of technology, this eventuality has been gaining importance amongst readers. The question arising from Pressman's article deals with the preoccupation of the end of the paper book and its influence of literature. Just as digital literature exploits book related elements, bookishness aesthetic exploits digital elements to insure its innovative character and thus its existence. With the growth of the digital era, books have become a medium amongst others to get information and access knowledge. This triggered an aesthetic and literary response. If books are just one of the ways to access knowledge, they will change in order to fulfil something the reader cannot get from other mediums. That explains why the physicality of the book is crucial since the form and the literary content are deeply connected. To illustrate her point, Jessica Pressman builds her analysis on The Raw Shark Texts (2007), a novel by Steven Hall. The novel appears as a mystery novel at first glance since the main character suffers from a memory and therefore identity loss. Nonetheless, the novel also underlines how viral and invisible information due to the advancement of technology is a menacing threat which needs to be combated by printed narratives. The term 'CAD/CAM' stands for Computer–Aided Design/Computer–Aided Manufacturing and has been used in many healthcare fields, particularly in dentistry. Optical scanners use a source of light (e.g. laser) to obtain positive 3D reproductions of dental impressions and casts, eliminating the need for an impression. Mechanical scanners measure casts mechanically by the presence of the ruby ball which is set to the smallest grinder in the milling system.
